When COWAY's Editors Go Oops
Well this happened:
It's pretty right? Regardless of your thoughts on Boba Jimin or mullets, the guys look very, very pretty. As per usual.
As long as you don't enlarge a thing.
"UH WHAT", said ARMY and People In The Know. "What is this heinous fuckery most foul? Indeed, why has this been visited upon us by Corporate Korea and what can be done?"
Or, some folk got mad:
And rightly so, IMO. But at least Coway paid attention.
"Precious". DAMN RIGHT ASSHOLES YOU BETTER PUT THAT JIMIN BACK WHERE HE BELONGS.
They say they're gonna.
Honestly, I see how it happened. Coway and other Korean companies (FILA, most notably) have a long history of editing out Jungkook's tattoos entirely:
And Coway did indeed edit TF outta JeiKei's hand in the current campaign - and not very well, at that:
Like bruh I am pretty sure his hand doesn't even bend like that but okay.
Point being, this is Korea. In the West we don't give a damn, as evidenced by Machine Gun Kelly and Travis Barker. Write whatever you want on your skin, you can still be the Biebs if you wanna. But Coway's out here trying to sell high end water softeners and icemakers and whatnots to rich conservatives in a country where tattoos not done by actual doctors are still illegal.
I KNOW. It's a whole other world out there.
BUT. They also know EXACTLY what that J means, in Korea. That a large corporation would edit out the J specifically means ONLY ONE THING.
They know. I have been telling y'all for almost a year that THEY KNOW. Nobody excepting toadlickkers and homophobic little 7s is confused, here. FANFICTION IS NOT A SOURCE AND THIS IS FANFICTION:
It's utter bullshit, kids. People MADE IT UP. Jungkook has never said because frankly, he shouldn't have to. ARMY means ARMY and JM means JM and a stylized A is not a V and that heart ain't got a "borahae" code and one J does NOT FIT ALL kids.
If it did, Coway wouldn't have seen fit to remove it in the first place.

They Fixed It : Coway vs ARMY Pt 2
"Editing the skin tone" = "We gonna make them look white AND heterosexual, graphic design is our passion"
Um, I see what you did there, Coway.
Still fair as moonlight, but they're pretty, we'll get into Korean internalized racism another time (it's a whole series of essays to be honest). That whole topic is above my pay grade because I don't get to speak on things I have not experienced in terms of color. BUT.
They put back the J, anyway.
And to Coway's credit, they apologized - twice. Awkwardly, but they tried. And fixed their omission.
Meanwhile at Coway the deeply homophobic graphics editing department is
