Idk this shot of Nanami cracked me up so I decided to ruin it.
Tumblr media
Also I don't think we ever saw Nanami's weapon in his hs years but it's clearly longer, so I just imagined a long cleaver lmao.

guys help it's 3am and i can't stop thinking about why gojo, someone notorious for using ppl's given names, chose to use amanai instead of riko-chan. suguru took to calling her the latter.
sure he uses nanami now but what if back then he used kento-kun? what if something shocked him when he saw nanami again four years later. the light in him had died and maybe he felt like he was partly to blame so he started calling him nanami. maybe it hurt to use kento because it was always paired with yuu.
we don't know what gojo used to call haibara but there's just something about the way his lips pucker as he says the first syllable of yuuji's name and is able to see his old friend in the crescent smiles of his upbeat student.

Where did the sun go?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: An unfortunate event for the first year' students of Tokyo Jujutsu Tech back in summer 2006. The sun of the academy stopped shining that day. (Original character insert)
Word count: 2k
TW: SPOILER - The Hidden Inventory arc, angst, character death, brief description of deadly wound, hyperventilating, suicidal thoughts, platonic relationships, nanami has green eyes (I know they're brown in canon, but I couldn't help myself)
A/N: I cried so much when after watching episode 5, even if I already knew what was going to happen, so I had to drown my sorrow by writing it down. Enjoy <3

She always knew the path she chose wasn't easy. She knew she could've left the world of sorcerers if she wanted to, she knew it wouldn't be much of a big deal if she did. There were many strong people in this world, so they wouldn't lose anything.
But she was already in her second year at Jujutsu High School and for now, she didn't regret that much. Things could've been better, obviously, but it kept her occupied not only mentally. They always had missions to do and, no matter how disgusting they were sometimes, how it made her puke a few times, she kept going. The sole reason for that were the people around her, the students in her year and the other two first years.
The connection with each one of them kept her in a floating state. She was neither dying or living a lot of the time. She was on the edge of it and it was better than to fall over.
When Naomi heard about Yuu and Kento coming back from their last mission, she was excited, her eyes sparkling. Faster than the lights, the happiness left her eyes.
"What do you mean 'mission gone wrong'?" her voice trembled.
"They're at the morgue—"
She ran there, her eyes aching from the tears being held back, the hope that bubbled in her chest when they left now breaking down into pieces at her feet as she left it in her tracks. She gasped for air and almost knocked into someone else when she entered the hallway.
"Kento! Yuu—"
Her breath stopped right after almost banging the door into the wall as she opened it, eyes widening, a chair flying into the wall with a loud sound. Kento was sitting on another one, legs spread wide apart, head thrown back, a small towel draped over his features. All she could see were his downturned lips and the way he gulped.
"What happened?" she asked before she was even able to register the situation displaying right in front of her eyes.
Only after another second, she realized Yuu was the one laying on the metal bed in the middle of the room, her heart sinking in the ground. She stumbled as she made other few steps. The sheets covering his body suddenly dipped somewhere around his hips, blood coating the gray material.
She greedily breathed in once, the earth she was walking on suddenly rotating. She clutched with her fingers at the bed, knees buckling under her own weight. Her eyes were focused on Haibara's face, the bloody and wide wound that ran from under his left eye down, running under the sheets.
Wordlessly, she let her knees hit the floor, eyes wide open. It wasn't real, was it? It couldn't be, that was impossible. She was probably having a nightmare and she'll wake up in a fit of crying. She will panic and hyperventilate and then it will stop. She knew her body would calm down after drinking some water, even if she might drop the glass and it would shatter on the floor.
The same way her heart was now shattering on the floor of the morgue as she lost focus on her labored breathing, her face pale. She heard Kento's brief explanation, but she didn't process it, numb to everything around her. She heard the edge in the husky words that left his lips, how harsh they were, filled with unshed tears he was hiding behind the towel, rage wrapping around him like a dangerously cold blanket.
Disappointment. Fear. Anger. Sadness.
He's alive, right? she thought.
Her fingers searched for Yuu's hand under the sheets, intertwining her fingers with his. He was cold and pale, even his skin. There was blood under his nails, but she still squeezed the same hand that yesterday was so warm when it touched her shoulder. He was smiling so brightly at her, trying to ease her usual anxiety before any mission her friends left for. Yuu was so optimistic, telling her about how he and Kento will bring each other back to the dorms, "back home" — his words, not hers.
She squeezed his hand so tight, leaning her forehead against it, as if trying to give him back the warmth he always greeted everyone with. He should've done the same now, even while wincing because of the pain. He should've hugged her like he always does, always the first one to share the bright side of the story.
Hot tears ran down her cheeks in rivers, pitiful whines left her lips as she shut her eyes. She stopped breathing for a few seconds, her lungs filled with air. When she exhaled, there was also a sob coming from her.
So many times she got scared that if she'd look up at him while in a bad mood, she'd make him cry too. She was worried that her own sadness would rub off onto him, the only one who always found a reason to smile, even if who knew what was inside his heart.
Don't look up. I think you'll make the sun cry.
Why did the sheets suddenly fall as if there was nothing underneath? Why was there so much blood?
The realization hit her with another wave of tears.
He was cut in half.
Just as she expected, she was hyperventilating, but it wasn't a nightmare. Reality was heartbreaking this time, even while her lungs begged for a gulp of some oxygen. There was a lump in her throat and her breathing was too deep and fast, sometimes seconds passing without an inhale or exhale. Her heart was beating in her eardrums, painfully taking over her senses.
Her arms were on the metal bed, both of her hands now around his fingers in a futile attempt of warming him up, even if she was always the one with cold hands.
No. No, this can't happen. This is impossible.
"No," the word left her lips in a whisper. "Sweetheart."
This world didn't deserve him anyway. She consoled herself with this thought over and over again. It was easier that way, since she was already convinced about that fact. Haibara Yuu was too precious for the Jujutsu world. He was too much of a gentle soul, he was too optimistic. It would've killed him at some point, even if his body would remain intact.
Maybe it was for the better.
She doesn't know how much time has passed. She sat on the floor just like that, her head resting on Yuu's cold hand, tears drying on her pale cheeks. Slowly, her breath came back to normal and she was left exhausted.
At some point, she felt Suguru's gentle touch over one of her shoulders, right before he dragged the sheets higher, over Yuu's face. They shared a few words. Suguru telling Nanami to rest after another fit, his voice echoing in her ears — now she was aware of everything.
"Satoru took over the mission," she heard Geto's usual soft tone.
Right. It all happened because of a mission that was wrongly labeled as second-grade. A dull feeling of rage and resentment made a nest in her heart.
Now, she was looking somewhere in the void, one of her hands dropped in her own lap, the other one still clutching desperately onto Haibara. From the corner of her eyes, she spotted Kento, still sitting in the same position she found him in.
"Kento," she breathed out faintly. "Are you wounded?"
"It doesn't matter."
His voice was rough and he probably took advantage of how stuck she's been in her own thoughts for so long, his tears soaking the cloth over his eyes.
"Don't throw a tantrum at me, you know it matters."
Or maybe do. If it makes you feel better, I'd rather have you yell in my face.
It wasn't even a scolding, the words spoken lifelessly, even if they were filled with honesty. She always cared too much. It always mattered too much for her.
Naomi picked herself up from the floor, avoiding looking at the big patch of blood she stared at earlier. With small steps, she made her way in between Nanami's spread legs. The same hands that clutched onto Yuu now caressed the blonde boy's shoulders. His body tensed under her feather-like touch. She was aware of her helplessness and how worthless those gestures might be, but she didn't know any better.
It was better to coax some reactions out of him than let him die on the inside, even if it seemed like she's worsening his condition.
"Do you have any wounds?"
"Stop."
The edge in his voice was more obvious, as if he was about to lash out. He bit at his own chapped lips.
"Don't be an asshole now, you can't use reversed cursed energy." One of her hands lifted from his shoulders, trying to take that towel off of his face. Suddenly, anxiety got the best of her and she thought he might even be missing an eye or worse. "Tell me—"
His long fingers curled painfully around Naomi's wrist and she winced at the strength he used to stop her. However, she didn't try to shake his touch off.
"I'm not wounded, alright?! I couldn't even protect him and you're worried about me? I'd rather be slapped across the face or killed right now!"
He lifted his head up, the white cloth falling from his face onto his thigh. His bright green eyes were filled with too many feelings for her to distinguish anything besides pain. Powerful and unrelenting pain. His eyebrows were pulled together.
"Right," he lowered his gaze to the floor, the grip around her wrist softening. "I should've been the one to die there."
Kento never spoke without thinking twice, but it was exactly what he was doing at that moment.
"Don't spit bullshit, Kento. You make his death seem meaningless."
When he tried to look at Yuu's covered body, she made one step to the side, getting in his way.
"Shit, no," she let out an exasperated sigh. "I didn't mean it that way. It's not your fault, Kento, stop thinking that."
"Then who the fuck's fault is it?!" he raised his voice at her, angry.
"It's those higher ups' fault! Listen for once, for the hell of it! If there wouldn't be repercussions, I'd go and slaughter them all!"
This time, her fingers squeezed his shoulder. The wrath she felt earlier was fueled by the dark thoughts running through her head. Her turquoise eyes were brighter than usual only because of the tears that dried on her cheeks, even if they were red, her eyelids puffy.
"I'm just a fool. Why would their stupid rules stop me from doing it anyway?" she let out a sour laugh.
Her shoulders dropped and she gulped. Kento let go of her hand, her arm falling by her side.
She wasn't reckless in that moment solely because she knew Yuu would've never found it as a solution. Realistically, she didn't do anything because she was a coward.
They deserved to die for not being able to take better care of their students, of children who didn't know better than to be reckless and hope for the best. It was their fault and their heads deserved to be at level with their feet.

My favorite type of NanaGo fic is when their past loves don't hover over their current relationship like pesky ghosts
Because, newsflash: your first love doesn't necessarily have to be the only one you have. Your current love doesn't necessarily have to be playing the role of a replacement; maybe you just happen to be in love with them

my thoughts on JJK 236
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the only way i can accept this mess of a chapter is if this is somehow gojo shit-talking and blaming himself for not doing enough for his students – talking about sukuna being much stronger, nanami pointing out that he has never cared wielded his powers to protect anything but to satisfy himself.
Tumblr media
except that it's all very strange, because we never knew if gojo knows about what nanami said to geto about letting him handle everything; because everything so far we've learned about gojo has been his cockiness, his confidence, his hope in his students – that this sudden bout of insecurity and reflection feels jarring, and not in a artful way. it is one that undoes everything we know about him.
i like to talk about how gojo has multitudes – he's confident as he is burdened, he's arrogant as he is caring. but what we have here is a totally different person, as if he has not only regressed to his teenage self (going by gege's choice of metaphor and visual representation of the afterlife), but a totally different person.
which is why i choose to – heck, i want to – believe that this is him blaming himself. he goes back to the best years of his life – where he met his best friend, his first kouhai, the first non-sorcerers he cared for, the only teacher he respected – a time where everything started unravelling for him and make him shoulder the burden of being "the strongest". the most important people in his life saying, "dude, you could've really done better, you know?"
because the alternative will be believing that this is the gojo satoru that gege has wanted to portray all along, and fuck it – i don't want that.
the only nice thing to come out of this chapter was this haibara and nanami interaction ❤️ :
