Takeout from Sukiya! I tried their Triple Garlic Beef Bowl: fried cloves of garlic, garlic sprouts (the green things), crispy fried garlic chili flakes (the red crunchies), and black garlic oil. Which seems to me to be four garlics? I think that maybe it's the garlic sprouts don't count. They're sweet and not too garlicky.
Pros: It's nice to have so many vegetables in a beef bowl. Also, I *love* the garlic chili flakes! Great crispy texture, great flavor, great balance of spicy and savory. If they sold them as a condiment, I'd buy a bottle.
Cons: Too much garlic! Even for me. Even knowing what I was getting into. I think I had 8 or 9 cloves of garlic, and that's for a mini size, which, apparently, comes with 60 grams of toppings. That's a lot of garlic! I felt like I still had garlic breath the next morning. That said, I may well get it again.

Ink Demonth: Meat
I've uh...been having cravings for gyūdon lately ^^;; there's something so comforting about it. So I decided to do a Bendy themed bowl!
The Bendy Beef Bowl! Hot rice topped with slices of premium meat, layered delicately on top of a bed of sautéed onions. The sauce is sweet honey and garlicky heat, dyed with squid ink to give it an inky appearance! Scallions are sprinkled and at the pinnacle is a rice ball of the cute lil demon himself, paired with a pickled plum!

Dinner at Matsuya! I never would've considered combining mabo tofu with beef bowls, but it was a nice meal! Satisfying and flavorful, good cold weather food. But I would’ve enjoyed just the mabo, so what do I know. I did get a kick out of their condiments, though.
We all can agree that ponzu, barbecue sauce, and sweet Korean barbecue sauce are the same thing, right? Right?? (After years of hearing my Japanese translator colleagues romanticize their inborn "superior attention to detail" while shitting on that notorious gaijin sloppiness, I can't help but smirk a little when I see things like this.)
