I recognize DC has decided to collectively ignore that era when Guy was actually the last living member of an alien warrior race and got the power to transform his arms into guns and suddenly sport vaguely offensive tribal tattoos by drinking a potion he found in a temple in the South American jungle. And yes, it was an utterly ridiculous era.
But I do like his absurdly 90s solo series due to scenes like this one, when we get to see Guy interact with other characters and be more than just "the jerk Green Lantern."
This moment takes place right after Ice (Tora) died, and Guy has gone to her home to say his final goodbye to her. He has a really nice exchange with Tora's mom, where she tells him he will always be welcome and that she considers him a son. (This was back when Tora was a Nordic ice goddess and her family were also gods and goddesses, before Winick retconned them into actually just being criminals. Thanks, Winick.)
These are the moments that make me love Guy as a character. When he can finally drop the act and stop being the designated tough guy and show how much he cares. (Or when he gets super pissed and decides he's going to fight 500% harder against a villain than usual in order to show how much he cares.) And I love seeing other characters, especially someone close to Tora and who loved her as well, acknowledge that he truly cared about her.
