A study in blood rage and cravings - Part 2
"I came up here to get away from... a witch. I'm craving her".
After he is done dissing Hamish's interior decoration ("it looks like a wedding cake" 🤣), Matthew makes a huge admission, he craves Diana. Oh boy he is in trouble.
And sound on for that delightful moment:

Did anyone else spot the parallels between the Hackett ad and 'A Discovery of Witches'? Two friends in a landrover driving into the wilderness...
Of course the major difference is that 'Hackett' Matthew capably deals with a flat tyre while ADOW Matthew ends up munching on Bambi 😱
Matthew Goode and Jenson Button in the Hackett London ad + Matthew as vampire Matthew Clairmont in 'A Discovery of Witches'.

Six comedy show announcements from the BBC
Six comedy show announcements from the BBC
The BBC Director of comedy, Jon Petrie, has announced a set of comedy shows (old and new) in a bumper press release, then followed up with several more detailed posts. I won’t dig into all of them, but will look at the one of most interest to me — confession time, I’m not a big Alan Partridge fan, so won’t dig into Steve Coogan’s show. “People Need The Lord”
“Everyday they pass me by
I can see it in their eyes
Empty people filled with care
Headed who knows where
On they go through private pain
Living fear to fear
Laughter hides their silent cries
Only Jesus hears
People need the Lord, people need the Lord
At the end of broken dreams, He's the open door
People need the Lord, people need the Lord
When will we realize people need the Lord?
We are called to take His light
To a world where wrong seems right
What could be too great a cost
For sharing life with one who's lost?
Through His love our hearts can feel
All the grief they bear
They must hear the words of life
Only we can share
People need the Lord, people need the Lord
At the end of broken dreams, He's the open door
People need the Lord, people need the Lord
When will we realize that we must give our lives?
For people need the Lord, people need the Lord.”
Songwriters: Greg Nelson / Phill Mchugh

A Discovery of Witches Real Time Read Ch9
"Hamish surveyed the board and made his final move. ‘Checkmate.’ Matthew let out his breath and sat back in his chair, staring at the chessboard. His queen stood encircled by his own pieces – pawns, a knight, and a rook. Across the board his king was checked by a lowly black pawn. The game was over, and he had lost.
There’s more to the game than protecting your queen,’ Hamish said. ‘Why do you find it so difficult to remember that it’s the king who’s not expendable?’ ‘The king just sits there, moving one square at a time. The queen can move so freely.
I suppose I’d rather lose the game than forfeit her freedom.’ Hamish wondered if he was talking about chess or Diana.
Is she worth the cost, Matt?’ he asked softly.
Yes,’Matthew said without a moment of hesitation, lifting the white queen from the board and holding it between his fingers.
I thought so, Hamish said. You don’t feel this way now, but you’re lucky to have found her at last."
I adore Hamish as a character, both in the books and show (hurray to Greg McHugh!), and his friendship with Matthew and I love this scene in particular.
Matthew Goode's microexpressions as realisation dawns on MdC are particulary delightful. Another great piece of acting.

Matthew - "She's a historian - I am her latest research subject."
Hamish - "Ah, and you fear she'll come to know your past? I know about it and I love you."
Hamish Osborne is the best of friends to Matthew. Love this whole conversation. One of the small details that I particularly like is how Matthew describes Diana to his friend - astonishingly powerful, clever, funny, full of courage - not one mention of how she looks. 👏

The New Regression Therapy: Healing the Wounds and Trauma of This Life and Past Lives with the Prese...
This is the second edition of an inspired manual for psychotherapists, practitioners, healers, and students of emotional, mental, and spiritual healing. It has been updated with an index and additional spiritual insights into the dynamics of sanskara, impressions upon the soul created out of trauma that create our themes and issues in this life. The author describes how the issues we experience in this life are the effect of unfinished and unhealed trauma and wounds of our past lives and this one. He describes how the emotionally charged magnetic fields and signature beliefs created out of these events create our misperceptions of the world, ourselves, and others in relationships. Until now Regression and Past Life Therapy has been a significant tool in bringing emotional and mental healing to individuals. The New Regression Therapy raises that whole modality to a literally Higher Level of healing work, one that is a significant augmentation to the great work of all the pioneers in this field. The New Regression Therapy incorporates additional elements that enhance and broaden the scope and depth of what has been the state of the art in Regression and Past Life Therapy. Most significant among them is the application of Divine Presence from resources found in the Interlife or through Angelic Higher Resources that are brought to the events and fields of attraction where the wounds and signature beliefs have resided. In the second edition further insights into the dynamics of spirit attachment and augmented protocols for the clearing of such attached entities are included. Greg McHugh is a Registered Psychotherapist and Clinical Hypnotherapist with a practice in Denver
