a large portion of the arrowfam are teenage girls, and we do not talk enough about that.
emi, lian, mia, cissie, and sienna squabbling over clothes and nonsense, then making up two seconds later by showing each other a funny video or buying food for the other, and then making fun of ollie all together in a group is everything to me, you don’t understand.

@chrumblr-whumblr Day Twelve - Alternate prompt: Betrayal
Fandom: Classic Doctor Who (Third Doctor era)
Rewatched Invasion of the Dinosaurs for the first time in like 6 years and wanted to explore Mike Yates' mindset. I remain as determined to love him as I did at 16, and anyone who writes him off because of his betrayal is a coward ^-^
Words: 1,327
____
Mike Yates lay on his narrow cot, eyes stubbornly closed. It did nothing to help, and he knew he wasn’t going to sleep any time soon, but maybe anyone looking in would think he was asleep.
Besides, he was tired. More than tired, bone achingly exhausted. He felt like he hadn’t gotten a full night’s sleep since Llanfairfach.
Noises came from outside, and it felt strange to be lying in his barracks while UNIT headquarters was bustling like this. But he had been confined here since returning from central London while the Brigadier finished cleaning up the mess.
He felt like he should maybe feel a little more about his role in that mess. He still wasn’t sure if he entirely regretted it. He wasn’t sure if he really cared.
His headache was back. It had come and gone, ever since his mind had been taken over during the mess with Global Chemicals. Not as bad as the first few weeks of his medical leave--back then the migraines had left him bedridden for almost days at a time. Now it was just a steady drumming in his mind, a reminder of everything that had happened.
Everything he had done.
He sighed, shutting his eyes even tighter, wishing he could just sleep. Soon enough the Brigadier would have time to deal with him, and he would likely find himself court martialled and disgracefully dismissed from duty.
An entire career of the military, gone.
Once again, he couldn’t bring himself to care. He had done what he had done.
The door was pushed open and despite his exhaustion, years of training had Yates standing in a moment. He relaxed his stance as he saw it was Sargent Benton, carrying a tray with tea supplies on it.
“I brought you tea,” Benton said.
“Thank you,” Mike answered. There was a tension in the room, an awkwardness he had never felt around Benton. He got along well enough with the other man but now that ease had been shattered.
It was his own fault. He took the mug from Benton and sat down on his bed. He wasn’t sure if he still technically outranked the other man, but either way he didn’t feel like standing on ceremony.
Benton hesitated, lingering a long moment. Long enough to make Mike realise--a little belatedly--that he hadn’t come to just deliver tea. Which made sense, Benton was probably the Brigadier’s most trusted man right now. He was likely needed--being tea-carrier was a waste of his abilities right now.
“I suppose the Brigadier will have me court martialled,” he said, taking pity on Benton and breaking the silence. Benton shook his head.
“He’s managed to arrange medical leave for you,” he said. Mike looked up in surprise.
“What?”
“Medical leave and a chance to hand in your resignation.”
Mike blinked, thrown by the comment. He’d assumed a far more serious consequence. He’d betrayed his superior officer--held a gun to him. The Brigadier could do a lot to make his life very difficult and would be right to.
But he hadn’t. He’d given Mike an out.
He took a sip of his tea.
“Why would he do that?” he asked.
“Because you’re his friend,” Benton said, in that simply straightforward way he had.
Mike stared at his tea, the first glimmer of something that might be guilt stirring in his gut. He couldn’t quite place the emotion--hadn’t really felt many emotions recently.
Friend. He’d worked alongside the Brigadier for years now yes. He would have definitely considered the Doctor a friend, as well as many of the men at UNIT. Bonds were forged when you faced what they did regularly.
He had held a gun to his friends.
Voluntarily this time.
It seemed ironic really, how much being forced to do just that had shaken him, broken him. Only for him to choose to do exactly what had appalled him so much.
If he had more energy, he might be horrified.
And yet, despite his betrayal, the Brigadier had found a way to ease his punishment, to give him some semblance of undeserved honour.
Friend.
“Sir.” Benton was still standing near the door, tray tucked under one hand. Still seeing Mike as his superior officer. He hesitated, seeming to be trying to find the words. “Why?” was what he finally settled on.
Mike took another long drink of tea.
He’d see the horror of what man could create. Had felt the effects of it in his mind, taking over him, forcing him to do things he did not want to do.
He’d seen landscapes polluted and destroyed, all for mankind’s benefit and greed. Global Chemical today, something new tomorrow. Pumping waste into the world to create abominations.
The idea of starting over had sounded wonderful. It still did really.
He still wasn’t sure he had done the wrong thing.
“Don’t you think starting over would make things better?” he asked finally, looking up at Benton. Benton shook his head immediately. He was standing at parade rest, tray still tucked under one arm, not really looking at Mike. He did that when he was unsure of how he should be acting, Mike knew. Falling back on his training to hide his uncertainty.
“No,” Benton said. “At least. Not at the cost of millions of lives.”
“They wouldn’t have died,” Mike said. “Just….have never existed.” That had been the plan. Reverse time, bring the past to the present. Erase everyone who had lived but for people who could do life right.
Start over. Do things better.
It didn’t matter now.
He took another sip of the tea.
“I think it’s kind of the same thing,” Benton said, a little apologetically.
“Maybe,” Mike said. He didn’t have the energy to argue. Maybe if the situation was different, he’d have tried to make Benton understand. He hadn’t wanted to leave his friends behind when the world was erased.
Maybe if the situation was different, he'd have agreed with Benton.
“What did you mean,” Benton asked again, still speaking a little hesitantly. “When you said you didn’t matter?”
Mike blinked, staring into the tea in his mug.
The moment was clear in his mind. A gun in his hand. The Doctor, Miss Smith and the Brigadier standing in front of him. Eerily similar to the scene in the Nuthutch months ago, except this time he had been in full control of his actions.
He hadn’t cared. If he had been erased, if the plan had gone through without him. He had known in that moment, that the world would be beautiful again, and if he wasn’t around to enjoy it maybe that was for the better.
He didn’t know how to explain that to Benton though.
Didn’t know if he entirely believe what he told himself.
He finished his tea.
“Mike.”
He looked up in surprise; he’d worked along side Benton for years, but he couldn’t remember another time the sargent had used his first name.
“We are still your friends, right,” Benton said, and he sounded so genuine Mike felt another emotion he couldn’t name rare its head.
He handed back the mug.
“Thank you for visiting,” he said softly, unsure how to speak to Benton. Unsure what he was expected to say.
Benton nodded and reluctantly turned to leave.
“Benton,” Mike called after him. Benton paused, looking back with an achingly hopeful expression on his face. Mike didn’t know what he was hoping for, but he was likely to be disappointed. “Don’t… don’t tell Jo?”
He had done what he had done and he had done it to create a better world. To feel like he could actually make a difference against the depravity of humanity. But the thought of Jo finding out, of Jo knowing he had willingly turned against his friends, against the Doctor.
The shame of that seemed unbearable.
Benton nodded, and quietly left the room.
Mike lay back on his bed, staring up at the ceiling.
Something finally broke through that all encompassing numbness just enough for a few tears to spill from his eyes.

I have pretty much no further input in this idea, but what if Danny was Superman instead before he died. Like, pick a time Superman dies and Danny dies at that exact same time in the portal, so Danny's ghost powers start out at Superman level bc his newly formed/still forming ghost overlapped with the portal.
So you either have:
split consciousness Danny/Superman on top of newly ghostly Danny
Superman's ghost replaces Phantom so it's a split consciousness kind of thing where Danny doesn't know he's a hálfa at all and Superman is trying to piece together how he got here.. But first he has to deal with these troublemakers..
Alternatively to the last one, Superman doesn't remember who he was before he died and is trying to figure things out wland helping out these people being attacked while he's at it. Sth makes him feel like he has to..
+ Superman's ghost is called Specter because of the big 'S' on his chest
+ Superman and Danny can be from different dimensions/universes, making Superman a foreign figure, or in the same one, with the JL trying to bring Supes back even if he's different
+ Funny thought, what if Supes is now immune to kryptonite btt doesn't know it, making him freak out.
+ Brownie points if Wes still somehow figures out Danny is the local ghostly hero with the most absurd little ditails. Like, he only has "Fenton disappears just before Ghosts appear" as his reasoning
