I'm not sure how easy to see this is, but look at the interesting needles we found at the thrift store. They're labelled "5" (they're also in French, and this is far from the first French knitting needles I've found there that skips the units). I grabbed these from the bundle of needles my kids found for me, and while I was looking at the ends of the needle, I noticed that they were clearly smaller than the 4.5mm that was the smallest ones I wanted. It says 5, so obviously it was an American size 5 (since American needle sizes are smaller the smaller the needle). I called the child who had done the measuring over to gently tell her the problem, and she insisted that she'd measured them! I took a closer look and I saw the size change!
I actually really like this idea - personally I prefer to use circular needles, but this would give the same ease of sliding the stitches along the needle with the ability to hold the end of the needle under your arm or in your lap or whatever, for speed of knitting.

Architecture, like dress, is an exercise in good manners, and good manners involve the habit of skilful insincerity - the habit of saying "good morning" to those whose mornings you would rather blight, and of passing the butter to those you would rather starve.
- Sir Roger Scruton
Famous Palladium Dress designed by Gianfranco Ferré for a 1992 Dior collection.

I low key hate how gorgeous Valentino’s design is. I appreciate his character design so much because it’s so pretty and full of details I just enjoy, but I FUCKING HATE VAL. Like you love to hate him which makes his such a good villain. I just feel like the design choices deserve a bit more praise. Or at least I’m going to give the design more praise because I hate on Valentino so much.

He gives me the ick hardcore, but I love his design. Like a moth to flame I guess (pun so intended)

Happy birthday FIAT!

11/7/1899 - 11/7/2022: 123 years apart and it's still here.
Pictured here is their best idea: the Fiat 500. You can see how clever Dante Giacosa was when designed the side of the car. One press is for the external panel of the door and the internal panel of the side and one other press is for the external panel and the internal part of the door. In the end, you've one complete side of the car and NO metal waste.

Good Design 🔥🔥🔥

This is a fire safety evacuation plan that is located at the bottom of a wall (near the floor). It is an example of good design in real life because when a fire occurs, you're supposed to drop down and stay low from the rising smoke. This design makes it more accessible for someone to read in the midst of a fire as they are crawling on the ground to escape. I think this is a great idea that should be implemented in more building designs in order to improve safety.
