Starting my 4th book in just as many days. A blind recommendation from a friend. I did read the blurb at some point, but I have no memory of it. No idea what the genre is, just blindly trusting my friend. Gonna be an adventure

So, my husband/friends are throwing me a "surprise" party this weekend for my birthday. I say "surprise" because I know a party is happening, but I know no details.

And please, why is everything so chaotic🤣

The way I logically assumed this would be an evening activity, but yet I'm being picked up by my bestie from my hair appointment at like 11:30😅 And my husband bought me a dress to wear??

Me: Will there be booze?

My husband: Obviously.

Me: So we're day drinking??

My husband: Please, you'll be fine!

Then there's the mysterious text messages from my friends💀😂

But I was nervous too, like walking through a script you know's already been written except the outcome's been withheld. Not giddy nervous. Nervous as in dark with dread.

I was scrolling through Crunchyroll and found an isekai anime called "Trapped in a Dating Sim."

Trying out the Ssum game tonight and it looks cool but also, I am Very Confused. There are so many thingies on the left-hand menu? Virtual pets?? A place to post your thoughts for other players to see? Collecting . . . orb . . . thingies? Some weird plot about aliens studying human emotions or somethin’?

idk man, I will keep poking at it and see if it makes sense. The dating part of the game seems good so far (there’s only one person to date though, I think). I see they are implementing some quality-of-life changes probably due to complaints about MysMe, and I must admit adjusting my sleep cycle with the game is pretty dope. But the little timer that counts down to the next chat is RUINING MY IMMERSION :P Also I don’t need the lil text telling me what Teo is doing during chat (pausing to think, etc.), I just want it to look exactly like a chatroom, ‘cause better immersion that way. these are minor complaints tho.

(To be honest, I even liked the 1am/2am/3am chats on MysMe, the feature that is probably THE most complained-about among fans. Because it’s just so realistic-- sometimes you DO miss chats if you’re not there. It feels more real to me that way, and staying up late for MysMe chats made it feel so much more special to me. but that’s getting off track.)

anyway, the other thing I wanted to whinge about was tying conversation choices to microtransactions/in-game currency. I totally get they need to make money and do that hustle, and most of the microtransactions seem reasonable to me (pay to unlock the ability to get him to type faster, the ability to change his name, whatever). but paying for chat choices? ugh. that kinda sucks. but maybe earning the in-game currency for free won’t be too bad. we’ll see!

I’m still very hopeful, game seems to hold a lot of promise

Live theater in the His Dark Materials universe must be wild. Surely an actor's daemon also has lines to recite, so their daemon's form probably also factors into casting decisions. Maybe some plays have vague character descriptions for daemons, but I bet other plays have really specific or central daemon characters. And sure, big-budget theaters can afford to hire a separate actor with a particular daemon to stand backstage while their daemon plays its part onstage, but community theaters don't have those kinds of resources.

Like if you're casting for Julius Caesar, surely the real historical Caesar had a pretty iconic daemon, right? Are you going to cast an actor with a pigeon daemon as Caesar and just have everyone suspend their disbelief that it's Caesar's lioness, ἁμαρτία?

I have an confession to make, I never have played any of the Animal Crossing games until recently when I got an switch as a late Christmas gift on New years from both my sister and dad. and honestly I enjoy playing New Horizons and thinking about playing the mobile version as well I believe it's called Pocket camp? idk honestly

I just know that Tom Nook the tanuki is a capitalist snake that seem nice at first but later on ask you to pay an huge sum of bells for XY and Z type of person. who may or may not be training his sons(?) the trade while their still minors and potential may be breaking labor laws

I can’t believe I went through all of Season 2 assuming Nina was the stand-in for Crowley when you actually pay attention it’s so CLEAR that she’s Aziraphale. I was tricked by her spiky, sarcastic, cynical outer shell and lulled into a false sense of security by Maggie’s bubbly optimism and wholesome goodness, because on the surface they reflect the ineffable husbands perfectly, in their personalities, their aesthetics, even many of their actions and morals. but not, and this is the real key, when it comes to their “relationship”. but those first impressions really had me damn fooled. 

I missed the blatantness of Nina’s “we’re just friends. actually we’re not friends. we barely know each other.” the same thing Aziraphale said in season 1.  the way he still struggles to quantify their friendship when Nina asks. Nina’s sarcasm when Crowley asks about rain and awnings because it worked for him (we all know it LMAO). hell, that whole convo the girls have in the rain is so AziraCrow (“I know. I’m not your type” “...You have no idea” hits so much harder the second time, help meeeee.) “Lindsay” maybe being symbolic of Heaven and Aziraphale’s toxic relationship with them and their abuse? (the handwritten text messages in red pen make me think of angry notes on paperwork, anyone else?) because Crowley has never actually cared about what Hell thinks of him, just not getting into trouble (or him or Aziraphale getting hurt). Maggie is always chasing Nina. NINA NEVER GOES IN THE RECORD STORE. Just like Crowley always goes to the bookstore, to Aziraphale, Zira NEVER WENT TO THE FLAT (apart from The Swap but that doesn’t count imo). Crowley has always chased Zira, not the other way around. Always there to rescue him, always going to him for company, always relying on their shared connection, always US. OUR SIDE. All through season one, he comes to Zira every time to work together, never trying to work alongside Hell in any way that isn’t to save their skins or Earth, while Zira hides things from Crowley because he STILL thinks Heaven is ultimately good and will do the right thing if he can just show them. fix it from the inside. 

Maggie working up the courage to finally say something, to put herself out there, while Nina is utterly oblivious and then when she does realise Maggie has feelings, becoming standoffish, putting up that barrier, fighting it, denying it, ITS SO CROWLEY AND AZIRAPHALE IN THAT ORDER. the way I was fooled into thinking Nina’s trust issues are Crowley because he does have trust issues ofc he does BUT Crowley has ALWAYS TRUSTED AZIRAPHALE. has always relied on him. has always been hurt when Aziraphale doesn’t immediately reciprocate the way he expects (the holy water request, the bandstand, the “off in the stars” etc). he’s always the one putting himself forward. Aziraphale has always been the one to second guess everything, to fight their connection, their similarities, their friendship. the girls really made me think it was going to be okay when they sat Crowley down, even as my inner sirens were going haywire about Metatron interfering, they were telling Crowley he just needs to open up and it’ll all work out BUT HE’S ALREADY AT THAT POINT. he may not say it, and by gosh is that part of their damn problem, but he’s always SHOWN IT. he’s not Nina who needs time to heal and recover from her broken trust, he’s always been Maggie believing it doesn’t matter, they’ll end up together in the end anyway AND I WALKED RIGHT INTO THE TRAP THAT THIS MEANT THEY WERE GOING TO BE OKAYYYYYYYYYYY
