“What’d he do?” Whitey asked with his usual cowboy tone, “He dangerous?”
As Y/n watched Whitey take Roy to the cell and lock him inside, she couldn't help but roll her eyes in frustration. Bill said Roy had been causing trouble again, and Y/n was tired of dealing with this. She had brought a pistol with her just in case things got out of hand, but she was relieved that she didn't have to use it. She carefully returned the pistol to the gun cabinet, making sure it was secure and out of reach. Y/n then took a moment to dust off her little blue dress, which had gotten a bit dirty during the ride back to town. She was glad to be back in the safety of the town and hoped that Roy would learn his lesson this time.
Whitey, comes over to her and brushes dirt off her shoulder. "Ma'am," He smiles, "ya ‘ave a rough ride today?"
"I'm not in the mood whitey," she glared already catching the innuendo he was no doubt going to make if she answered him the way he wanted her to,
Whitey smirked, He set his hands on his hips, "Alright, alright, don't get ya panties all in a twist," He said with a grin.
"My panties are not your concern Mr Winn," she glared as she headed out of the office stepping down the porch and into the New Mexico dirt,
Whitey chuckled. "Hey, hey-" He went after her with a grin. "I'm only jokin' with ya." He chuckled as he followed her as she walked through Labelle, "You know," He said as he caught up to her. "If ya just lighten up, ya might get a boyfriend."
"a boyfriend? Really? Whitey there are like four men in this town. One is my father. One is the undertaker who's so close to death he's built his own coffin. The barkeep who can't even pour whiskey straight. And the dry goods man who hates everyone he's ever met. Not exactly the making of beat boyfriend material,"
Whitey chuckled, "What ‘bout me?"
"You. Are not a man Whitey."
Whitey smirked. "What’d ya think I am, then?"
"A boy," she said, "a very spoilt, cocky, idiot of a boy, who doesn't bathe, refuses to articulate his sentences and only got the job as deputy because he's the man in town under 50. Who's only decent quality is that he happens to be an above-average shot."
"Ya outta catch yourself Ma’am,"
"or what?" She glared,
Whitey gritted his teeth. "Don't play with me, Y/n. Ya won't like it much." He said as he took another step forward.
"just go away whitey. Go see one of your girlies or something and leave me alone." She stomped before she continued her way through Labelle towards her little house,
Whitey took in her words for a moment, her insults stung him and certainly bruised his ego. But he still felt there was a chance that with the right words, he could win her over. "Hey, wait-" He said as he ran after her. "I was just kiddin’ before." He said lying.
Y/n ignored him and continued through the dusty dirt,
"Hey! Hold up!” Whitey yelled, as he ran after her and caught up. "I-I..." He was at a loss for words. He was determined to get on her good side, "Look, I just-" He paused, "I'm sorry ‘bout earlier." He said honestly.
"are you?" She glared as she crossed her arms over her chest,
"I am. Ya know how I can be. Sometimes I don't do the thinkin’ before the talkin’." He said,
"You never think before talking," she glared as she flicked his nose before she turned and headed up onto her house’s white-painted porch,
Whitey winced as she flicked his nose, but quickly brushed it aside. "Well, why don't ya come to the saloon with me tonight? I'll buy ya a drink and make up for it."
"No thank you, Mr Winn," she said as she cleaned her dirty boots on her step,
"C'mon, it'd be fun. I'll even try and act polite." Whitey joked.
"try." She sighed, "No thank you. I'm busy"
Whitey raised an eyebrow. "Oh, and just what's so important that it has to take up your night rather than hangin’ out with me? Got yourself a lover boy?"
"no." She glared, "Not that it is any of your business whitey but I have laundry to do,"
"Oh." He said sounding disappointed. "Just laundry. Damn." He paused for a moment. He really wanted to take her for a drink and impress her with his charm. "Well, can ya maybe do it ‘nother night? I haven't had a drinkin’ buddy in a while now..."
"I'm sure you'll be fine whitey," she sighed as she headed inside her house but she accidentally left the door open which whitey smirked at.
Whitey's eyes lit up. Maybe there was still hope after all. He took in a deep breath, then made his decision and went inside her house to find her.
He bolts up her porch and steps inside Y/n's house and it's much like he imagined the house prim and proper everything in its place, well decorated and kept even a nice smell in the air she takes off her boots setting them by the door on a shelf of her shoes before she goes to the kitchen filling a pot and sitting it on the stove before then prepping a teapot as she does she noticed him so she added another teabag and rolled her eyes, "oh come on in whitey," she said sarcastically, "at least shut the door behind you. And take your boots off I don't want to track your damn mud around my house!”
Whitey rolls his eyes a little as he takes off his boots and sets them next to the other shoes.
"Wow. Ya house is..." He said, finding it to be quite impressive in the neatness.
“What? Clean.”
“Kinda…” Whitey looks at the tea on the stove. He takes note of how she added two. "Ya plannin’ on ‘avin’ more than one tea? He says with a smirk.
"no, I'm making one for you, genius,"
"Tea?" He raised an eyebrow. "Ya don't seem like the tea kinda gal."
"you don't seem like a bath kinda boy," she snapped back,
Whitey's lip twitched and he narrowed his eyes when she said that. "I do take baths!" He yelled a little louder than he expected as he tried to defend himself.
"do you? When did you have one last?"
"Just because I don't bathe every day doesn't mean that I hardly bathe! I- I bathe twice a week!" Whitey crossed his arms as he tried to defend himself.
Y/n saw through his lies and grabbed some water in a glass before she threw it in his face and grabbed her washcloth and soap bar giving Whitey's face a scrub no matter how much he protested,
Whitey was taken by surprise when she threw the water and he didn't move fast enough to dodge it. Then, when she began to scrub his face, he began to struggle as best as he could. He tried to pull away, but his efforts were in vain. He wanted her to stop, but this wasn't completely all bad either. "STOP IT!" He yelled, struggling as he tried to pull away. As she scrubbed the layers and dirt off of his face it hurt just a little bit, but after you scrubbed his face, it felt... refreshing. He suddenly stopped trying to push her away as he looked into her eyes.
Y/n slowly moved back and dried off his face, smiling at him with gentle eyes, she held his chin and looked at him honestly the first time she had ever seen whitey clean, "humm" she chuckled, "So there is! a handsome boy hiding under there!"
Whitey stared into her eyes as she smiled and held his chin, looking at him as she had never looked at him before. He smiled as he felt her warmth and he couldn’t even believe how beautiful she looked at that moment.
"Ya think I'm ‘andsome?" He said a little giddy as he felt his face now glowing a red hue.
"I'm sure you could be. After a hot bath, some good soap and some clean clothes," she chuckled kissing his cheek before she took the pot off the stove and filled the teapot taking it to the table with the tea cups saucers, sugar pot and milk jug sitting down and after giving the tea a moment to steap she poured herself a cup and began to make it to her liking,
"Well, what if I don't want to take a bath or change my clothes?" He smiled at her He really liked when she kissed him. She sat down, pouring the tea, and Whitey followed her to the table sitting down across from her as he watched her pour the tea. When she finished, he reached forward and took the milk jug, pouring it into his own cup.
"then you're just you. And not particularly handsome,"
"Hmpf- I can be ‘andsome when I want to." He said, then looked back over at her. "Did ya really mean it? That I could be ‘andsome?"
"every man has the potential I suppose," she says picking up her cup and saucer briefly blowing on the tea before she takes a sip, “Even you whitey,”
Whitey smiled a little bit as he took a sip of his tea also. "Well, thanks that’s mighty kind of ya ma’am," he said, his face still a bit red from her compliment. He sipped his tea for a moment before he finally spoke again. "Ya know, ya kinda cute yourself."
"am I now?" She sighed already seeing through his attempts at flirtations,
"Yeah, ya are." He said with a smirk. As if he was sure she was into him. Even though he was really just fishing for validation at this point.
"if you say so. Don't you have other ladies to pester?"
Whitey smiled. "Not right now. All the other gals in town are annoying. Why can't they be like you." He complimented, hoping he could get a little bit further with her with just one more compliment.
"Why indeed," she sighed she offered wondered why the women in town weren't more like her, able to see through Whitey's flirtations and complimentary words and see the truth. But she supposed it was likely the lack of men in their ex-mining town. Whitey was the only man under 50 in town so it made sense why every widow swooned for his sweet words however Y/n being the sheriff's daughter could see through him like he was made of glass,
Whitey saw Y/n's expression and thought she was playing hard to get,Whitey grinned, he couldn't wait to try some of his moves to win her heart. "How can I convince ya that I'm the right guy for ya?"
"you can't." She said adding a sugar cube to her tea,
Whitey was disappointed but not deterred. He had been rejected plenty of times. It was going to take more than that to make him give up on her so soon, she was too pretty for him to lose out on. "So, what if I make ya a deal?"
"What sort of deal?" She sighed as much as she didn't want to engage with his nonsense she is a gambling girl,
Whitey grinned, he loved flirting with her. He leaned forward a bit, his hands leaning on the table. "What I'm thinkin’ is, ya give me a chance to prove that I'm the right dude for ya. One date. If ya don't like me after that date, I'll leave ya alone."
"no, you won't. I know what your like whitey I say I don't like you, you merely see it as a challenge"
Whitey paused for a moment, he wasn't about to lie. He smiled, he wouldn't leave her alone if she didn't like him. But, he was sure he could win her over.
"Can ya really blame me?" He said, his smile spreading across his face, she was just fun to tease with. "You're so pretty, anyone would see ya as a challenge to win over."
"umm you say that to all the ladies?"
"To all the pretty ones." He said, with his usual cocky grin. Whitey could have stopped trying a long time ago, but he really did like Y/n,
"whitey. No. Just no. I am not letting you check me off your list just so you can say you've slept with every lady in town. As soon as I let you spend the night you'd move on to the next one. It's not happening give up"
At this point Whitey couldn't help but smirk, even if all his talk of ladies was just meer talk to make Y/n jealous, "I’m hurt Ma’am I really am, that ya think so little of me? So ya think ya know everythin’ about me? What if I were to prove ya wrong?"
"umm?"
"What if I don't move onto another lady after I've..." He leaned back in his chair, his expression still a bit cocky, even if he knew he never ever would, this was Y/n the only girl he ever wanted, "after we... you know."
"but you will. So why are we even discussing it?"
Whitey shrugged as he took a sip of his cup. "Oh, come on- just ‘ear me out ok."
"I'm listening." She glared sipping her tea
"What if- just for the sake of argument- I was a changed guy? And after we..." His voice trailed off teasing her with a smirk across his face, waiting for her to answer.
"nope."
Whitey narrowed his eyes, he wasn't going to go down without a fight. He was sure he could wear her down. He wasn't used to being told no. "Just give me a chance, pleaaase."
"Whitey. There are only two ways you are ever going to sleep in my bed either you buy my home and steal my own bed from me" she warms before getting up from the table "or you marry me." She says fetching a small tin which she sat on the table as she returned to her seat opening it to a bunch of cookies and biscuits one of which she took and dunked in her tea
"Wait one second there," Whitey said, his face scrunched up in confusion as she got up. "Marry ya?" He paused for a moment looking at her. A small smirk crept across his face as he thought about the idea. "Marry ya, Y/n?" He tried to sound sarcastic, but there was definitely interest in his tone.
"it's the only way it's happening whitey,"
"Ya would marry me?" He couldn't hide his surprise with how serious she sounded.
"if you promised to be monogamous, move in with me and actually have regular baths," she shrugged sipping her tea
His eyes widened a little bit, she's actually serious she seemed genuine. But, that meant he'd actually have to give up his bachelor lifestyle. But for Y/n, he’d do it in a heartbeat, "I could do all those things." He took a sip of his tea, mulling the idea over.
"could you?"
He thought for a moment, make her his girl. But... what about the other girls? Would he be tempted? Maybe But if he had Y/n waiting for him at home? And honestly, most of his talk about the other labelle ladies was just that, talk. They might bring him a pie and give him compliments but that was as much as the Labelle widows fainted interest to whitey, he had always had a thing for Y/n so He shook off the thought of cheating and smiled at Y/n. "I would do anything for ya, even be monogamous for ya."
"I don't believe it for a second whitey,"
Whitey leaned back in his chair again, he was a little upset at her lack of faith in him but she did have a point. But he had never really felt a genuine connection with them like he felt with Y/n. "Ok, but I can be faithful to ya. Trust me. Come on Y/n ya know I was just talkin’ just talk is all it was, ya know I ain’t really like that, and Ya know how I feel ‘bout ya,"
"no you wouldn't be faithful we live in a town of ladies you literally have anyone you want," she glared
But, she was wrong. he knew he would come home to her. He was sure if they were together he'd only have eyes for her. "You're givin’ me a lot more credit than I'm due, but even so. I'd be comin’ ‘ome to only you if ya let me." He smiled as he took another sip of tea.
"you're actually considering this?" She raised an eyebrow seeming surprised he was thinking about it
Whitey leaned forward, looking into her eyes with a smirk across his face. "Yeah! Course I am! but it'd have to be under one condition."
"go on?"
Whitey shrugged, he wanted to make this a bit more of a game. "You'd get to be my wife, and I'd be ya ‘usband too. And, I'd make sure to be a good man for ya. But I'm not sayin’ I won't try and flirt with ya a lot even when you're my wife. Ya just can't resist me." He smirked, he knew he could probably win her back with a little bit of sweet talk still after everything she said.
"you understand what this would mean for you? No more girls. No more sleeping around. No more riding off to the next town over and tearing up the place. No more junk-filled houses. No more bathing once a month. You'd live here, with me, we'd be married, we won't see anyone romanticly but each other, you'll have chores, and a bath every other day, you'll go to work and come on home again to me, I'll make you dinner for your night shifts and do your laundry. And yes we will sleep together both just in bed and sexually. Maybe even have some kids if you're up for it. But it's all or nothing whitey you marry me and we do all this or you don't and we don't do anything. Ever."
He let every word sink in for a moment, he thought about it honestly. And he had to admit, the life Y/n had described for him sounded like it was definitely better than his single life right now. "I can do all that." He said with complete sincerity.
"you think so?" She asked
He knew she thought he was kidding or being sarcastic, he could tell by her face. He smiled, this was probably one of the most serious things he'd ever done. "I can definitely do all that, I swear."
"Alright." She shrugged before she got up and gathered up everything from the tea taking it to the sink to begin in dishes, "Balls in your court then Mr Winn"
The sound of her washing the dishes and being so nonchalant about the potential of what he was asking made Whitey almost laugh in amusement. He thought he would at least get a little bit more of a fight from her, but it was all over just like that. Not that he was complaining.
He got up from his chair and walked over to her. Standing behind her, he placed his hands on her shoulders and slid them down her arms. "So, I'm gonna be ya ‘usband?"
"Yes, whitey?"
Whitey smiled, it felt so good to have won her over. He leaned down to kiss her on the top of her head, his hands on her wrists. "So, when's the wedding? The sooner we get married, the sooner we get to the good part."
"who said were getting married? I haven't been asked out anything yet" she laughed
His face dropped when she laughed, this wasn't going the way he envisioned. Did she think he would actually kneel down and ask her to wed right now? He was losing her. He couldn't lose her not now he was so close to what he had always wanted!  "Fine." He scoffed "Will you... Marry me?" He said sounding a bit sarcastic as he leaned down and kissed her head again.
"All alright" she shrugged
"Alright"?! He was expecting a bit more excitement over the news, she really just - "Really? That's it? 'Alright'?"
"right" She smiled again and gently held his chin with her soft fingers before she turned enough to give his lips a soft and gentle kiss their lips slowly moving against one another till she pulled back and continued with the dishes
Whitey was stunned by the soft kiss, it had almost sent shivers down his spine. She was actually kissing him back gently. He had won. He had Y/n as his wife! And, he couldn't help but feel the butterflies in his stomach when her lips were pressing against his. This moment was almost unreal. He smiled as he watched her continue doing the dishes. But he had one more question for her now that he had won her over. "Is this gonna be a big weddin’ or a little thing?"
"I don't mind, up to you" she shrugged "Ohh and the jeweller has some nice rings on sale at the moment best go for silver rings though the gold will tarnish the ivory on your guns," she smiled
That made him happy, he liked to know she could really see themselves together in the future. "Oh, I'll make sure we get rings soon then." He said with a smile, he would make sure to get them as soon as possible, he couldn't wait to put a ring on this woman's beautiful finger. And, he had all the time in the world to plan their wedding anyway. He smiled as he watched her continue washing dishes, his mind already racing with ideas for the future. After a few moments, he finally decided he had a question that really needed to be asked at that point. "Y/n?" He said, his voice quieter than before. He was still stunned by that kiss, and in a way, he didn't want to ruin the moment. "May I ask one question?"
"yes, whitey?"
He smiled softly as he took a breath. He was surprised he was feeling so nervous with her after she had already agreed to be his wife, but for some reason, he felt his heart beating at a million miles an hour. Was this really gonna happen? Was he really going to marry this woman? "Could I ask ya to maybe... cuddle with me for a while?”
"When I've finished the dishes," she says "you can dry up too if you wanna help"
He watched her turn back around, a smile still on his face at the sight of her. He was almost blushing as he watched her do the dishes, her soft lips and smooth skin were enough to make it difficult not to stare at her. Even her hands doing the dishes were attractive. He chuckled as she said he could help. She was truly a good woman, he didn't care if she told him to clean the dishes before permitting him to hold her. But she wouldn't have to deal with him sitting around doing nothing after she was done. Whitey decided to be a good husband and started helping her wash the dishes when she was done with them. He was genuinely enjoying just spending time with her at this point and couldn't wait until they were officially married. He would make sure he took good care of her. And, maybe she could help take good care of him too, but he wouldn't mind if she didn't, he'd take good care of her regardless. Once the dishes were done, Whitey watched her move over to the couch and knew he had won. She was all his and he had nothing to worry about. He felt that she genuinely wanted him and was attracted to him, and he would make sure he was the best husband he could for her.
He sat down beside her on the couch and looked at her for a moment, he couldn't help but admire her beauty. He leaned down and gently kissed her as he pulled her tightly against him and rested his head against her chest.
she kissed back and smiled cuddling him and running her fingers through his hair in a soothing way
His soft lips fit with hers like two pieces of puzzle, their bodies fit together perfectly and the moment felt truly perfect. The fire from the fireplace provided a bit of warmth for them as they remained close to each other. The way she ran her fingers through his hair felt amazing, and he couldn't help but wish that this moment could last forever.
Whitey looked into her beautiful eyes as he held her close. He wanted to tell her so many things, words could never describe his love for her at this point. Her perfect, soft, beautiful body was making him almost feel like a schoolboy with a crush. And, it felt so warm and comforting to hold her like this.
she smiled and moved sitting on his lap as he had asked her to, she petted his hair and gave his head kisses letting him squeeze her "This nice?"
Whitey felt butterflies all over again as she sat down on his lap, this was his dream come true. He had really won her over and not only that, she was really opening up physically with him now, and it felt better than he could have imagined. He wrapped his arms around her waist, and his hands began to wander. His fingers lightly brushed over her body, feeling every curve it had. He was completely in heaven.
He started lightly kissing the top of her neck and leaned his head against her neck, he couldn't help but smile as he felt her hands on his back. Her body fit against him so nicely. She was perfect just like he had imagined her to be. He didn't want these moments to end, he wanted them to be married right now so he could make her his wife and never let go.
Whitey felt her soft, feminine hand caress his back and neck as her long fingers lightly rubbed him. Her touch was sending shivers of bliss through his body. Her arms were wrapped around him as she snuggled up tightly against him and she nuzzled her head against his chest. Whitey's heart was pounding so hard, he was afraid he would just pass out like this from the amount of happiness he was feeling right now. He had truly won her over, finally.
she hummed softly her head on his chest her hand in his hair, the other on his chest stroking his jumpers fabric, her body on his lap as she gently fell asleep on him
He felt her soft, gentle humming, her head resting against his chest as she began to fall asleep. He held her close as he continued gently playing with her hair, her hands continuing to lightly trace patterns on the fabric of his jumper. She fit perfectly on his lap, He couldn't help but smile as he watched her slowly drift off.
Whitey felt his own eyelids get heavy, she seemed so comfortable on his lap her warm body curled against him. There was nothing else he wanted than to just lay there and snuggle up against her like this. He felt her breathing get slower and slower, her breathing became more shallow and her hums turned into mumbles until she was fully asleep in his arms.
He took a deep breath and watched her for a moment more. She looked so peaceful lying on his lap just like that. He wanted to just be with her forever. He didn't even want to move, he just wanted to stay exactly where he was at that moment.

Other Man's Widow - Chapter 2
Female!Reader x Whitey Winn (Both young adults)
Modernish!AU (it's kinda 1950-60s coded?), inspired by the lyrics of Carrie Underwood's Church Bells and Hoizer's Dinner and Diatribes (Church Bells is the backflashes, Dinner and Diatribes is the vibe of the hot questioning room before the rain).
Warnings: Abuse, domestic abuse, murder, religious trauma(?).
Summary: The young deputy gets sent to comfort a young widow.
A/N: We get to see more of the other Godless characters :D.
Your tentative hands meet the edges of the cup. It is no longer burning to the touch as you lift it slowly to your lips. The air is damp and still your tongue feels dry. The young man across from you watches you take a sip with soft but attentive dark eyes. You push down the discomfort of being observed, hiding it in your handkerchief.
“How did he seem these last few days? Was he” Deputy Winn pauses, moving his pen in circles in the air and lifting his eyes up, looking for the right expression. “worried about anything?”
He’s sweet, trying hard to not involve you in anything you didn’t know before. His movements, while indicative of his youth and a wandering mind, are reminiscent of how one handles a bird that has flown in through an open window into the kitchen. Your arm itches and you brush a hand over the knit to soothe it.
“I don’t know about worried, John never tells me about his work. But the last week or so” You grip the handkerchief between your hands again “oh I don’t know.”
“Now any little thing could be important.” Deputy Winn makes a gesture with his hand, as if to soothe your worries.
“He’s been absentminded.” You confide, releasing a sigh. “The phone rang one night and the call seemed to agitate him.” A frown ghosts over your face.
“And when was this?” He takes up the pen again.
“Tuesday. I’d made shepard’s pie.”
“Any idea what it was about?” Whitey really hates to put her through this. Her face is veiled in held back emotion, flickers showing only in passing, shoulders move with even breaths. The shadows cast by the blinds make her seem to have lost days of sleep. Whitey wishes he could say something to ease your pain, but he knows that isn’t possible. All he can do is focus on his job, get the facts straight for McNue and the others, and maybe he can get you some closure.
You look up from your hands. “Work, he said.”
“Father.” The soft spoken word was loud in the empty hall. Reverend Griffin looked up from the fountain of holy water which he had dipped his hands.
“My child.” His face lit up with joy, eyes crinkling hinting at the smile hidden by his white beard. He waves a large hand. “Come in, you’re always welcome in God’s house.”
You slipped out from the shadows by the entrance under the organ loft, head lowered with the brim of your hat shutting out against the light shining in through the tall windows. Reverend Griffin’s arm circled around your back, herding you towards the front pew. Your shoes clicked against the stone floor, too loud, like you were taking up too much space. The floral fabric whispers against your legs as you sit down with him, hat in your hands.
“Father, I need advice.” You spoke quietly. “I feel as though I am lacking. I try to be a good wife to my John but my efforts fall short.” With effort you stopped your hands from picking at the seam of your dress. The reverend’s hands came to rest on top of yours, his body leaning forward and you lifted your gaze to his, keeping the side of your face towards him.
“My child, marriage is holy, sanctioned by the Lord himself. There will be trying times, as in all parts of His creation, but the bond between you and your husband is sacred. You will find the way.” His eyes were genuine, but his words stung your eyes and burn your right cheek. You blinked a few times and cleared your throat, returning the squeeze to his hand.
“Thank you, Father.”
“Just down the corridor and to the left.” The young man holds open the door for you. Your dress barely brushes past him and you step out into the hall with a quiet thanks.
On your way past the barred in front desk you note the spot of bright colour and meet eyes with Mary-Agnes, who is pausing her writing to tuck back an escaped strand of blond hair. The woman had shown you into the room with a firm but kind hand when the police car had dropped you off at the station. She told you that someone would be right with you, and if you had needed anything, you were just to call for Maggie, she’d told you in a warm tone that left no room for protests. You give a small smile to her and she returns a reassuring one. Behind her you see Miss Temple searching in an archive cabinet for some paper. Turning the corner you reach the restroom and close the door behind you. It was a wonder the station had put Maggie on reception desk work, when she had eyes that would pierce your soul if you had been around her longer.
You finish your business and after washing your hands you run the tap as cold as it will go. The water will only provide temporary relief, as you dab wet tissue at your neck. Taking a deep breath you look in the mirror, squeezing the edges of the porcelain sink.
You quietly slipped into the back pew on Sunday morning, the veil on your hat low over your brow. Reverend Goode shifted further in on the bench and you give him a nod in thanks. He wore his white clergy cloak, overseeing the baptism of the Gunners’ little bundle of joy later in the day. Baptisms never had been Reverend Griffin’s self appointed duties.
As the very man begun his sermon from the front of the room you couldn’t help the venomous glare that shot from under your cover. He had spoken of love on your wedding day. When you came to him, he spoke of marriage being a holy union. On this day he stood up there today preaching about care, and fidelity, when last night you were being beaten so hard you hit your head on the leg of a kitchen stool. That was his friend that did that.
Reverend Goode must have caught your stare because he turned towards you, and even in the shade of the organ loft you could see he saw. As all rose to join a hymn you moved to leave but the soft touch of his fingers against your arm stops you. You turned, face lowered, and the shame in his eyes when you finally met them almost matches the one you feel. The makeup once again felt unnatural on your face, the skin burned where the marks were. He held out his hand, carefully, hopefully, and you took it, held it tight as you joined the hymn.
You did not have to tell him. He knew. As he sat with you after the sermon, he held your hand and didn’t say a word as you both stared at the cross together.
“What do I do?” You asked, knowing he’d have no answers. Reverend Griffin was the leader of this congregation, and Roy could be out in the blink of an eye if he spoke poorly of the Reverend’s friend. You didn’t want that to happen to him. The town would suffer a great loss if this kind man moved away.
He squeezed your hand, and looking at him in the corner of your eye you could see cracks form in him, as if the reverend was struggling with his faith in the system he was in. Then he took a deep breath and met your eyes.
“Have faith in the Lord, my child.” His voice was grave, eyes urging you to forgive him for his own weakness but to trust his words. “His will be done.”
You nodded. “I will.”

Watched godless. I thought it was mostly about the town that's ran by women but got disappointed when curtain 30 evil men just kept showing up. I don't like violence against women and i should've expected it seeing that this is a western show..
Anyways it was good. I didn't get bored. I liked the characters. I always love seeing badass women. I honestly wasn't expecting sapphic cowgirls in this show but I'm glad i got it! Good for mary-agnes and ms dunne!!
I wanted the report dead. Mary-agnes should've killed his ass!!
Mary-agnes is played by the actress who played Elizabeth from new girl so it was awesome seeing her in a role like this. It was funny realizing that main bad guy looks familiar because he was in dumb and dumber lol.. also Charlotte temple looked so familiar to me and i think it's because she kinda reminds me of Jennifer beals..
Yeah it was okay... It wasn't bad. I just hoped the story focused a little more on the women so i can care a little more about them but i guess that's what happens when you watch a mini series, not alot of time for you to care about the characters.
Also whiteys death is fucking stupid.. i wasn't sad or anything i just thought it was stupid..

i just think it’s funny how scott frank (who directed both godless and queen’s gambit) really looked at tbs and said: this man was born to play a little cocky cowboy pirate with a love interest who touches his hair. but first, he needs a little moustache.

Godless | S1:E5
Whitey: She kissed me, though.
Mary-Agnes: Did she, now?
Whitey: Yeah.
Mary-Agnes: Hm.
Whitey: It was the most incredible thing. Her lips were just like these puffy little--
Mary-Agnes: I really don't care what her lips were like.

I grabbed my jacket from the hook beside the door, slipping the brown leather over myself, I grabbed my hat, pushed back my hair and sat it on my head, giving my upper lip a slight stroke to keep the hair presentable.
“Alright… night Sheriff,” I told him,
“Night whitey, careful in your walk home,” Bill told me from his desk,
“I'll be fine,” I answered as I pulled open the door headed out the sheriff's office, and began making my way down the porch, little did he know. I ain't going home.
I snuck my way across town doing my best not to be spotted by anyone who might rat me out before I arrived at the stables, I fixed my gun belts, my shirt and my face giving my breath a check before I snuck inside. I walked the hay and straw-covered floor passing the few horses in for the night, giving my horse Ted a rub on the nose as I passed him. Before I walked to the last stable merely used for storage and that's where I saw her.
Y/n stood fixing some of the hay into a make shift-cosy corner in her usual boots, stockings, little purple dress, her Y/H/C hair in a sweet updo, her little skin glimmering in the light of the lantern hung above, she hummed to herself a little as she worked.
I let my smirk grow and tipped my hat a little up my head before leaning my arm on the stable doorway, I parted my lips and wolf-whistled at her.
"Phhuuwwweeeeet-Phheeew!"
She stood and turned to face me her hand on her hip, "Evening,"
"Evenin' Y/n" I smirked back,
"What are you doing here Deputy Winn?" she teased,
"Humm, well just lookin' after Labelle lil lady," I teased her back, "Why? what are you doin' here?"
"Nothing much," she shrugged, "Just wonderin' if I may get a visit from a handsome deputy boy tonight?"
"Well that depends, don't it? Your daddy know you're out?"
"No," she cooed coming closer,
"Humm, You let anyone see ya on the way?"
"No," she came even closer,
"Hummm... Ya fancy a roll in the hay with the deputy?"
"Mhm," she now stood within my reach,
"Well then, one last question lil lady," I smirked wrapping my arms around her waist,
"Yes, whitey?" she giggled wrapping her arms around my neck,
"Ya think ya can be quiet?" I smirked rubbing the tip of my nose on hers,
"Never." she shook her head,
"That's my girl," I smirked pulling her into a hot and heavy kiss, "Ummm I've missed ya, lil lady," I kissed her passionately stroking my hands over that perfect body, she kissed me harder and clawed her nails at the back of my jumper, I eagerly pulled back lifting her up under her thighs and laying her down in the hay with me sitting over her with my legs either side of her, I smirked and began slipping my jumper off, before unbuttoning every button of the shirt but keeping it on just in case we got disturbed, quickly returning to her lips holding her face in my hand as we kissed. She stroked her hand down to my belt "Impaient tonight lil lady," I cooed,
"I've missed you," she pouted squirming her little hips against the hay,
"Have ya now? Humm well your daddy has kept my lil lady locked up in that big old house without me to take care of her. Not surprised you're a little... desperate for me Y/n," I smirked as I pulled off my belts, she took no time to grab my hands and moved them to the hem of her dress, I reconnected our lips and slowly pulled up her dress pushing higher and higher to her waist, as our tounges began to explore one another's mouths my hands trailed down luckily feeling her stockings where only thigh highs so I didn't need to tug them down, I grabbed her thighs giving them a good squeeze which made her gasp, I had to admit I stopped and admired her lower body. I kissed her neck and kissed down her chest squeezing her breast through her dress, "fuck ya feel so good!" I groaned but forced me back to her lips by my hair and grabbed me by the hem of my trousers forcing the gap between us to close.
"Ummmm ya really have missed me lil lady." I growled quickly, undoing them and pulling out my hard shaft, stroking her hand across myself tenderly so I knew I was at my best for her, "uhhhh!" I gasped my head throwing back a little, she smirked and opened her legs wide stroking her pussy almost invitingly and I sure as hell didn't need to be told twice, I held the base of my shaft to guide myself expecting some difficulty given I hadn't used my hands or my mouth for her but she was soaked! I slipped in so easily you'd think I'd have been eating her out for three hours! But she felt so good! Everything I have ever wanted to feel around me! Uhh, I admit I think I went a bit crazy "Ughhh! Y/n! lil lady! Ummmm! Ya so wet... Ummmm ya must have been beggin' for me," I groaned, I wasted no time to absolutely fucking destroy her! we both tried to be quiet but often let small groans and moans slip often kissing just to keep quiet, which only made me want to be harder and more intense, I knew I was close ... "Y/n... Lil lady, please... Uhhhh! I need ya!" I whined kissing her neck and leaving her with a few hard hickeys
"a little longer whitey... please," she gripped my arms and started to dig her nails into my skin,
"umm yeah? ya close ya need me lil lady, we both know ya need me as bad as I need ya, come on... just a lil scream for me? Maybe your daddy might hear ya and see his cute little daughter getting fuckin' raw dogged by the town deputy" I growled making sure to keep going I knew I was so desperate biting my lip and squeezing my eye shut trying to do hard not to cum just yet but I didn't have to wait long as she tightened around me and squirting down onto the hay squealing in my ear not loud enough to be heard outside the stable but that nose was enough to take me over the edge, "uuuuuuuhhh-uuughhhh!" I buried myself as deep inside her as possible my hips jerking in odd angles beyond my control "fuck -" I gasped, "I love ya, Y/n..."
"I love you too whitey," she giggled a little we both laughed and shared a sweet kiss before we cuddled up in the pile of hay.
I sat at my desk fiddling with an old dented bullet I found lying around, tossing and rolling it between my fingers without much of a thought as Bill sat at his own desk doing ... I don't know, I didn't ask.
Suddenly the office door flew open and immediately I knew something was up, it was Y/n's father he marched in and glanced around the office until he saw me.
“You little bastard.” He yelled before he grabbed me by the jumper and forced me from my seat lifting me like I was nothing and tossing me onto the hard dusty dirt outside, of course, I yelled and everyone began to crowd around. “You really think you are gonna get away with this. You dirty little bastard. After what you did to my daughter!” He yelled as he began kicking me hard in the stomach so much so that I coughed blood, without even a chance to get to my gunbelt.
“Daddy stop please!” Y/n begged him as he forced him away from me, “Please Daddy it wasn't his fault.”
“No! Not his fault he knocked you up!”
“I what!” I coughed,
“You knocked my baby girl up! She's seventeen you pervert!”
“So am I!” I choked out not sure why I thought that would help me but my head was spinning and I was very much in pain,
“You little fucker I'll kill you!” He yelled grabbing one of my guns and pointing it at me,
“No! Daddy please!” Y/n screamed,
“Drop the weapon!” Bill demanded pointing his shotgun at her father's head,
“Are you okay whitey?!” she came to comfort me holding my head in her hands,
“Just peachy lil lady” I groaned as she slowly helped me to sit up,
“Thanks for waitin' till after I got the shit kicked out of me,” I complained,
“You knocked her up whitey I ain't stopping her daddy kicking your head in,” Bill said,
“That's fair.” I sighed,
“drop it, sir.”
“He knocked up my daughter I'm blowing his brains out” her father yelled,
“Whitey may be a very very stupid boy and believe me you are well within your rights to kick the shit out of him however. That is my deputy and you pull that trigger, I'm pulling this one we clear?”
He groaned but dropped my gun,
“Look… I know I fucked up, but I promise ya I never meant to get Y/n in trouble. And … I know we're young but I'm more than happy to marry her. Help her through all this. Raise our little one together” I cooed holding her hand,
“You mean it whitey?”
“Course I do, I love ya lil lady, and I love our lil baby too,” I told her I tried to kiss her but he grabbed her by her hair and dragged her away, "Y/n!" I screamed in panic grabbing my gun from the ground, "Let her go." I demanded,
"How I discipline my slut of a daughter is no concern of yours," he told me,
"Whitey put it down," Bill demanded,
"Yeah... problem is, you just told me she's pregnant. means you're manhandling the mother of my child and the baby inside her! let her go, or I will blow your fucking brains out."
"You don't have the nerve," her father smirked,
I pulled the hammer back on my gun aiming it squarely in the centre of his forehead, "Try me."
He let her go so I lowered my gun,
"You are not to see my daughter again,"
"But I-"
"I don't care! You are not to see my daughter ever again!" He demanded, "You are not to see her, look at her, think about her,"
"She's pregnant, let me do the right thing and marry her. I promise I'll take care of her."
"You've done enough!"
"Then what about the baby, My child! You expect me to never look at them?"
"Trust me, they won't be staying here not near you." He said, "Y/n come on. Home."
"Daddy please I-" she began,
"Now!" he demanded,
"I- I'm sorry whitey," she said between her tears,
"Y/n... Lil lady please..." I begged her, but she followed her father.
I did my best not to be discovered as I stood around the side of the house, I held my breath watching as the door slammed shut and her father headed down the porch and towards the Labelle saloon, as soon as he was gone I smirked and climbed up the wall into the window. Where she was sitting in bed in her cute little white maternity dress with her little baby bump, she sat on her bed knitting and I almost wanted to cry.
"Awww Lil lady, ya look so adorable!" I cooed,
"Hi whitey," she giggled,
"Come here," I cooed sitting on her bed and peppering her face with kisses, "and come here you," I cooed kissing her bump, "aww hello lil one, I know I know daddy missed ya too," I whined,
"he's been kicking all day missing his daddy,"
"I know, I know I'm sorry. I wish your father went out more often. I feel like I've barely seen ya,"
"I know, I keep trying to make him go out,"
"I wish I could come cuddle ya every day, I miss our little one so much."
"I do too," she smiled, "I know you'd want your head glued to my belly Whitey,"
"Course I do, I wanna hear and feel every inch our lil one moves," I cooed peppering her tummy with kisses, "Last time I was here he was half this size,"
"I know, he's getting bigger every day,"
"He'll be arriving soon," I cooed, "Y/n..."
"Yes, whitey?"
"I know we have both been tryin' to talk to your father..." I sighed, "And neither of us is gettin' anywhere with him we've tried everythin' we can. And ya know the moment the baby comes, he'll pack ya up and send ya off east with your aunt." I told her holding her bump and looking into her beautiful Y/e/C eyes,
"I know..." she said sadly stroking her bump,
"But I have an idea,"
"An idea?"
"Pack ya stuff, lil lady." I cooed,
"What?!"
"Pack up, take everythin' we need, load Ted up and head off west, buy ourselves a bit of land with our savin's and raise our baby together. I couldn't be happier, a little place with my lil lady, my lil baby." I cooed, "We can start our life together as soon as the baby comes, just come with me. And I'll marry ya first chapel we find on the road!"
"Whitey do... do you mean it?"
"I mean it!" I kissed her forehead, "Just come with me,"
"...yes." She gasped,
"You- Ya will!"
"I will, help me pack up things for baby and we'll be gone before he gets home."
"Let's do this lil lady," I cooed kissing her sweet lips,
We packed up her room with all her little dresses, her trinkets and all the little things for the baby. I packed myself up and we loaded up our bags onto Ted, I helped Y/n up onto the horse and I climbed on behind her my hands taking the reins and sitting on her thighs, often stroking her baby bump,
"Ya need to stop just tell me?"
"I will," she nodded,
"You ready lil lady?"
"I'm ready," she cooed, "Let's go,"
"Let's go." I nodded, "I love ya, Y/n,"
"I love you too Whitey,"
We shared a gentle kiss and I gave Ted a gentle kick and we started off on a slow walk out of Labelle and away to a whole new future together.

Stories to Stay:
These are the stories that will remain.
However, they will currently all be taken down within the week. I need to rewrite some parts since I have lost each story's original plotline. Also, not all of them will be released at the same time. This is a long list of multi-part stories, and I want to give each of them the time they deserve. With so many live stories, it's easy to get specific details mixed up. **This is not the publishing order.

Other Man’s Widow - Chapter 1
Female!Reader x Whitey Winn
Modernish!AU (It's kinda 1950's-60's coded?), inspired by the lyrics of Carrie Underwood’s Church Bells and the beat of Hoizer’s Dinner and Diatribes. (Church Bells is the backflashes, Dinner & Diatribes is the vibe of the hot questioning room before the rain.)
Warnings: Abuse, domestic abuse, murder, religious trauma(?). Whitey is an adult and not a kid in this.
Summary: The deputy is sent to console a grieving young widow.
A/N: If I have missed a tag please tell, also this has taken me like two years to get on here.
-
The light that filters in through the halfclosed blinds is turning gray, the weather setting the stage for what would be a tragic story. The clouds had rolled in already around noon, as if it knew to be ready. Despite that the room is suffocating, as if the clouds are a big wet blanket over the town. Sweeping your eyes over the iron legs of the chairs and table you suspect they put you in one of the nicer questioning rooms, as you doubted the station had much room for anything but the absolute necessities. The plastic seat isn’t much comfort but it will have to suffice. A click of the door makes you run your hands over your hem.
“Sorry for the wait, ma’am. Can I get you anything?” The blonde boy is keeping his body in the hallway, likely expecting a positive answer.
“A cup of tea, if it’s no trouble. Two sugars.” You fold the tiny fabric square in your hands. He gives a close lipped but reassuring smile and disappears back out. You never had much contact with the police in town. This was the first time you had stepped foot inside the police station. It was a tall grey house that had stood since 1884. The inside must have been updated since then, because the inside had much of the modern technology you had heard of on the radio.
The door clicks open again and the youth steps back into the room. He sets a cup of smoking tea in front of you, with the air of someone trying not to scare a wounded deer, you note.
“It sure is feeling like there’s thunder coming in.” He muses in the local drawl, looking towards the window as he pulls off a brown jacket, flashing a hint of embroidery hinting by the pocket suggesting personalization. The fabric whispers over the back of the chair before the blonde sits down opposite of you. “I am Deputy Whitey Winn. I know it is difficult right now but I need to write down what happened for the report, is that alright, ma’am?”
The woman in front of him looks frightened. She has been crying but trying to hide it, putting on a brave face. Her dress has a cheerful pattern of tulips, not at all fitting the gloom that has been thrown over this day. Despite the damp air she has kept her blue cardigan on, only the two top buttons undone. He notes the golden oval on a chain resting above the edge of your dress, likely an heirloom if he knows the townsfolk right. Her hands are still gripping the handkerchief, as if scared to let go. The gold band around her finger shines dully. Poor woman. He only hoped that McNue and the others got the place back in order before evening.
“Yes, of course, I understand.” You hide your shock at that the boy in front of you is the assigned deputy. He looks but a child, far too young to be working in such an environment.
“Now, there’s nothing strange, Mrs Y/n Henderson. You just tell me as you know it, straight forward, alright?” Deputy Winn continues and opens a notebook in front of him.
Mrs John Hendersson.
“John! Good man, good to see you!” The man came to meet your husband, who tossed the keys to the valet without looking. The valet stumbled but catched them before they met the asphalt. You gave him an apologetic smile.
There was people milling about the outer deck, but the man herded your husband in to the restaurant, where tables were occupied here and there. John pointed out Daryl and Donnie Devlin, who flited between tables. The twins were those kinds of folks who fit in anywhere, if you’d let them. They were never there with a lady, never there with anyone. They arrived alone, sometimes together. They had business in everything from hardware stores to banking. You hadn’t told John but they gave you the creeps. They were turncoats and would butter up anyone if they smelled an opportunity. When your husband went to greet them you excused yourself to sit with the ladies that had taken up a table by the windows.
One of them gave a light touch to her head as the others pointed out a couple on a walk. You realised your mistake and removed your wide brimmed hat, feeling the heat rise within you. Always these little mistakes. Not that she was being mean about it. It was just that you felt so out of place with these people who had been going for years.
“That’s a wonderful dress, Mrs John Henderson.” Commented the owner, who had decided that the women were his jurisdiction while the men chatted.
“Thank you.” You couldn’t help but tug at the hem, trying to remember what the length requirement was. “John bought it for our honeymoon.”
You look at Deputy Winn. He has probably never set foot in that country club. He’s leaning on his elbow as he writes, back hunched. There’s dirt under the nails of his hand which supports him against the surface of the table. For a moment you’re glad it’s that way. You who stepped into the police station, and not him being taught a new set of rules for how to dress, greet and eat.
“You married Mr Henderson two years ago, is that correct, ma'am?” Whitey had read the public invitation in the paper, a flower wreath encircling both names. But someone had to be at the station, which fell on him and Maggie. Well, Maggie had been glad not to go, said it was too much of a spectacle for her.
“Yes, June 1954.” You look down on your ring, spinning it on your finger and then clasping your hands in your lap. “I just wanted a small affair, but John said we’d better invite the whole town.” Something between a laughter and a sob escaped you. The air seemed to only get heavier. It would certainly be thunder. You just hoped you would be out of here before then.
The sun was shining that day, filtering through the colored glass, and scattering over the altar. The whole town could not fit inside the church, only family and close friends. Reverend Griffin read the Lord’s blessing over your marriage. Then your walked outside to loud cheers and rice getting all in your hair. It was sweet. You kissed for the newspaper’s camera.
The reception was held at your parents’ barn, since John’s club didn’t allow non-members, even for a wedding, although they sent their well wishes. Tones of a waltz started up when you and John walked through the flower filled doors. He led you by the hand, brought you smoothly through the motions. You could hear the whole room sigh in awe when he spun you, flaring your skirts to shine in the muted light. The heat rose to your cheek, and you could almost have been taken for more than a little tipsy if you had been seen walking the street. This man was yours to have and to keep, and him you, for as long as you both would live. The nausea and the ache in your feet seemed to have vanished the second you had been declared husband and wife. All was now a giddy whirlwind of light and hope.
“Congratulations” Louise came into focus beside you at the buffet table, holding a sparkling glass of bubbling gold herself, a bright smile on her lips. Her dark hair was fastened up under a crown of oxeye dasies and buttercups, curls falling out from the dancing.
You ducked your head, feeling a little embarrassed. “Thank you. You look lovely!” You exclaimed after a moment to gathered yourself and gestured towards her blue dress, its loose-fitting skirt sweeping against the white tablecloth as she leaned slightly against it.
“It is the festivities of the season.” Lousie gave you a playful conspiring look before taking a sip and turning to survey the masses. “Reverend Griffin has even let out Reverend Goode from the church for some socializing.” You turned to follow her line of sight. The young priest was holding the hand of Miss Temple with both of his, speaking enthusiastically on some topic illegible at this distance. His brown hair was mussed as usual but his cloth was exchanged for a muted suit and black shirt, white collar still attached. Reverend Griffin stood in the opposite end of the room, patting your husband on the back with a laugh. You elbowed Louise who laughed.
“Don’t say that.” You tried to hold back your own laugh at her mean comment.
“Well, he seems as a fish in a pond.” She declared with a nod in the subject’s direction, who seemed to be asked to dance. “Evening, Officer McNue.” Her attention turned to Bill, who was reaching for a bread roll on the table on her other side. He retreated a step with his hands up like in a hold up.
“Now call me Bill, I’m off duty.” His dark moustache curled up good humouredly. His uniform browns had given way to a navy suit, dark hair water combed, and shoes shined from the dry dirt that plagued the streets during summer. “Congratulations again, ma’am.” He made a gesture to tap his hat, forgetting it wasn’t there. You curtsied and thanked him.
“Now take that roll.” You laughed, pretending to swat after his arm. “There’s enough to last a week.”
Bill raised his hands again and stepped back towards the bread backet. “Is that an order, ma’am?”
“Yes!” Both you and Louise exclaimed, making all three of you laugh.
“Alright, then I’ll take two.” Bill grinned and picked up his goods. “I heard your dad was looking to get you to join him in a tune.” He pointed one of the rolls at Louise who slipped away with a grin. “And I’m sure your husband wants to see you.” He aimed it at you next, making you laugh.
“Yessir.”

I have this theory...there are a few of Thomas Brodie-Sangster’s characters are related. Okay so, Whitey Winn is Benny Watts ancestor and Benny Watts is Newt’s great-great grandpa. I say this because they all have a thing for their weapons. Whitey loves his guns, Benny carry’s a knife around with him everywhere, and newt, well that one is both his machete and his gun, I would go into detail on Newt but that one is quite painful. But all of these characters are related and that’s it.
