against her better judgment, nayeon can’t help the brief sense of nervousness she feels once she knows of the impending task, cold sweats overtaking her for only a moment before she’s able to regain her bearings— she had to stop doing that ( letting her emotions overtake her so easily, pushing logical thoughts to the side in favor of pangs of fear and doubt, now especially ), her body relaxing slowly as she released a long, measured sigh.

despite the attempt at relieving as much of the tension retained in her limbs as she can, however, nayeon can still feel it clinging to her frame— beneath comfortable practice clothes ( a new staple for her over the last few weeks ) and building warmth from exertion, she registers the rigidness taking roots in her shoulders, her neck, her knees.

she was overthinking things.

there’s no point in denying her flaws, her weaknesses, some of which bleed through her strengths quite clearly, even when trying her best. she can see them with every transition to her next move, with every shaky breath she takes between lines. it’s only natural, she knows this, but that won’t stop her from feeling even the slightest amount of disappointment— this was her first evaluation, after all, and she wanted to do the best she could.

sure, there was always the possibility that she’d be judged with her short time as a trainee taken into consideration, and sure, the thought helped her breathe a little easier, but she didn’t want to rely on possibilities as a crutch.

even with her known faults ( even with possible cushions ), nayeon would do the best she could and she’d do it with heart.

her shoulders relax fully, arms lifting to give a much needed stretch, and she’s happy to feel a little lighter— starting up the music again, nayeon takes her first position, ready to go through the routine once more.
