Glenstone pt 2 - I'm generally not one for contemporary architecture, especially the sharp cold modern pieces like we saw today, but when its in context amongst a wild natural landscape it takes on a completely different tone and i found i really loved the way it played in contrasts and light.

Glenstone’s (@glenstonemuseum) latest exhibition, Iconoclasts: Selections from Glenstone’s Collection, places Calder in conversation with other important twentieth-century artists, including his friends Arshile Gorky and Marcel Duchamp. Baby Flat Top, the sculpture on the left, debuted in 1946 at Galerie Louis Carré, Paris, in Calder’s first solo exhibition in postwar Europe. The standing mobile’s collapsible structure allowed the work to be sent overseas via the newly available international airmail system and reassembled upon its arrival in Paris.

Went to a pretty phenomenal, minimalist and mostly out door, contemporary art museum today.

Glenstone pt 1
They have minimal posted commentary for the installations and instead have guides posted throughout the park who are trained in education and discussion in multiple languages (and sign language) to discuss the exhibits and instillation and how the visitors are interpreting them compared to the artist's intent. The visual result is incredibly clean, calm, and gentle on the senses, which pairs nicely with the fact that limit entry so crowd size is always small and manageable.
