Best of 2023 - TV Series
I think I watched over 50 TV shows this year and most of them were great which means, the making of this list was hard and took me a few days and I'm still not sure about the order.
01. Deadloch - Season 1. - "Welcome to the Tasmanian town of Deadloch! It’s the site of a simmering culture war between the blue-collar, old-school residents and a recent influx of lesbians who’ve put the place on the map, bringing performance art and gourmet nose-to-tail dining with them." - Vanity Fair
Tumblr media
02. The Woman In The Wall - Miniseries - "People think that this couldn't happen again. Then they forget that the last laundry closed in 1996. It wasn't medieval times. The f**king 'Macarena' was in the charts." - Philippa Dunne
03. Nolly - Miniseries - "This show follows Nolly through the very public sacking and its fallout, and paints a sympathetic and adoring picture of the woman behind the headlines. Bonham Carter sails through this as if on the campest of clouds, but also beautifully articulates the grief behind the glamour. Nolly is part of the old guard, the oldest of guards in fact – she was the first woman ever to appear on colour television. " - The Guardian
04. The Newsreader - Season 2.
05. Heartstopper - Season 2.
06. Mood - Miniseries - "Like Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag and Michaela Coel’s Chewing Gum, Lecky’s Mood started life as a one-woman show on the London stage; she debuted Superhoe at the Royal Court in 2019, with the Standard describing her performance as “a revelation”. That’s probably where those comparisons should end, though, as Mood is a very different beast, and not just because of the aforementioned musical interludes. The darkness in this story isn’t necessarily mined for laughs (though our deadpan lead Sasha can be savagely funny, just like some of her brutal song lyrics) and there’s a real sense of precariousness at its heart." - Evening Standard
07. Workin' Moms - Season 7.
Tumblr media
08. Blue Lights - Season 1.
09. The White Lotus - Season 1. and 2.
10. Ted Lasso - Season 3.
11. Starstruck - Season 3.
12. The Following Events Are Based on a Pack of Lies - Season 1. - "The show touches on some serious themes around abuse, misogyny and gaslighting, but it is so compelling because it doesn’t forget how much fun there is in the art of the con." - The Guardian
13. The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart - Miniseries
14. The Night Agent - Season 1.
15. The Dry - Season 1.
16. Foundation - Season 1. and 2.
17. The Change - Season 1. - "Bridget Christie writes and stars in The Change – her sitcom debut – as Linda, a much put-upon wife, mother and retail worker who reaches a crisis point at her 50th birthday party. It’s not just the menopause. It’s also the cluelessness of her husband (Omid Djalili), the open disdain of her teenage children and society’s general denial of the full humanity of older women that pushes Linda over the edge." - The Guardian
18. Sex Education - Season 4.
19. Fleishman is in Trouble - Miniseries
Tumblr media
20. Slow Horses - Season 1. and 2.
21. The Last of Us - Season 1.
22. The Fall of the House of Usher - Miniseries
23. Fisk - Season 1. and 2. - "You can tell Fisk is an old-fashioned sitcom just by looking at it. That goes beyond Fisk’s awesome brown pants suit; the visuals here are firmly in service to the story (and to the jokes) rather than feeling like a cinematographer’s audition reel. The locations are basic – an office, a café, Fisk’s temporary Air B&B home – and filmed in a straightforward way that never detracts from the comedy. For audiences used to expensive production values and flashy locations this may take a little getting used to, but the effort is most definitely worth it." - ScreenHub
24. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel - Season 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
25. The Diplomat - Season 1.
26. Gen V - Season 1.
27. Secret City - Season 1. and 2.
28. Severance - Season 1.
29. Wolf - Miniseries
30. The Crown - Season 5.
31. Shrinking - Season 1.
32. Three Pines - Miniseries
33. Beef - Miniseries
Tumblr media
34. The Sixth Commandment - Miniseries - "Evil characters can be just as one-note and boring as the good, but Hardwicke manages to infuse Ben with such a disconcerting blend of calculation, charm and quiet, almost hidden glee in the harm he inflicts that it is impossible to look away. You will want to. It is harrowing." - The Guardian
35. Swarm - Miniseries
36. Bodies - Miniseries
37. The Long Shadow - Miniseries
38. Wellmania - Miniseries
39. Boat Story - Miniseries
40. The Morning Show - Season 3.

Why ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ chose Palm Springs as the setting for its hedonistic mystery world
BY GLENN WHIPP, ENTERTAINMENT COLUMNIST, AUG. 29, 2022 9 AM PT
Olivia Wilde remembers driving to Palm Springs for the first time 20 years ago, taking in the Midcentury Modern architecture, the palm trees, the lush golf courses and the flowing fountains, a verdant city plopped in the middle of a desert. Every time the native New Yorker looked out the window, the same thought ran through her head: “If we settled Mars, this is what it would look like.”
“It felt like the ultimate expression of man’s dominance and power,” Wilde says over the phone, taking a walk around New York. “It’s so beautiful, but it’s also a really strange place. If not for all the creature comforts that man has created, you would die very quickly out here. And it’s the desert, so it’s spooky. I recall thinking that someday we have to make a horror movie out there.”
That day has arrived with “Don’t Worry Darling,” opening in theaters Sept. 23 after world premiering next week at the Venice Film Festival, a psychological thriller about a couple (Florence Pugh and Harry Styles) living in a utopian desert community called the Victory Project. It’s a place where men leave in the mornings in their vintage Corvettes and Pontiacs for mysterious jobs while the women stay home, make the beds, scrub the bathtubs and cook up a pot roast for dinner. The ethos, in the words of the community’s leader, Frank (Chris Pine), is all about mining “pure, unbridled potential.” That and hedonism. The women must keep the liquor cabinets fully stocked too.
As the song goes, “It’s the good life” — if you’re one of the men nuzzling your submissive wife over a bacon and eggs breakfast. Otherwise, to use another line from the same Sinatra song, “You hide all the sadness you feel.” The tension between the colony’s seductive glamour and the level of control it imposes on the women who live there (imagine the most draconian HOA and you get the idea) gradually becomes exposed as Pugh’s character begins to question her surroundings over the course of the film’s two-hour running time.
There was a moment when “Don’t Worry Darling” might not have happened in Palm Springs. Wilde, writer Katie Silberman and production designer Katie Byron, the trio who collaborated on Wilde’s directorial debut, the acclaimed 2019 teen comedy “Booksmart,” had embarked on an early road trip to the desert to start scouting locations. It was July 2020, hotter than hell and the beginning of the pandemic, which made the Victory Project’s life of revolving dinner parties feel like a complete fantasy. Taking in all the butterfly rooflines of communities like Canyon View Estates, they were certain they had found the movie’s setting.
But because of COVID, Wilde says, “very reasonable powers that be” suggested moving the production to New Zealand to save money. Wilde understood the logic but resisted, believing that, on a subconscious level, Palm Springs connected to what she calls the “patriarchal masculinity” that was essential to the story she was telling.
“For me, New Zealand is this ecological gem that’s evidence of nature’s power,” Wilde says, “and feels connected to Mother Nature and femininity. I think if I made a sequel about the matriarchy, New Zealand would be a reasonable place to go because it’s a place where you go to be humbled by nature. That’s the opposite of what the character Frank wants. He wants people to feel that nature is humbled in their presence, that man has molded nature to his will.”
The location for Frank’s home was vitally important, and Wilde lucked out in securing the Kaufmann Desert House, a marvel of Modernism, a home made from glass, steel and Utah stone, epitomizing the indoor-outdoor Southern California lifestyle aesthetic. The home, built in 1946 to the designs of Richard Neutra, has been immortalized in photographs, including Slim Aarons’ “Poolside Gossip,” a shot that, coincidentally, Wilde had pinned to her wall while she was developing “Don’t Worry Darling.”
“To have that image on the wall and then be able to crawl inside it felt like that scene in ‘Mary Poppins’ when they jump into the chalk drawings on the sidewalk,” Wilde says.
The movie makes use of a couple of other Palm Springs landmarks, the City Hall and the Visitors Center, both designed by renowned architect Albert Frey. But for another key location, the building that stands in as the Victory Project’s mysterious headquarters (employees only!), the film’s location manager, Chris Baugh, ventured a couple of hours north to the Mojave Desert community of Newberry Springs. There, atop a 150-foot cinder cone, sits a building known as the Volcano House, a saucer-like structure that appears to have materialized from another planet or dimension.
“We got shivers down our spines when we first saw it,” Byron says. Adds cinematographer Matthew Libatique: “It just feels like it melts into the landscape. It’s a trek to get out there, but when everyone saw it, they knew: This is it. This is what the Victory Project’s headquarters would look like.”
The triumph associated with the community’s name appears to be confined, as the film’s trailer hints, to a small slice of the population. And yet, Wilde says, it’s easy to be seduced by iconography of the midcentury, Rat Pack era, which is why she hoped to keep “Don’t Worry Darling” from being didactic in its depiction of its patriarchal world.
“There’s a recklessness to the debauchery that feels almost aspirational to us today,” Wilde says, “Because it feels like a world without consequence. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t find it really compelling and alluring. I didn’t want to make a preachy feminist parable that depicts men as villains. I think the film is about our collective complicity in this futuristic infrastructure that objectifies women.
“And what I found so interesting was the complicity in myself,” she continues. “That feeling of, ‘Oh, I’m all about new-wave feminism and smash the patriarchy.’ But here I am loving this era — and you can use the Rat Pack as an example of it — that was really horrendous for women. That tension between knowing something’s wrong but still being very seduced by it is where the movie sits. I want the audience to be tugged back and forth between those emotions.”

Lana Del Rey practices “automatic singing.” Using the improvisational songwriting technique, she lets her voice carry over accompaniments, not commandeering where her words or melodies take her, accepting all ideas she has in the moment and editing them later. Lately, her voice has led her home, back to memories of her childhood in Lake Placid, N.Y., and to ruminations on relationships with her family and the divergent paths they’ve taken.
That subject underpins her upcoming ninth album, Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd (out March 24). Del Rey, 37, says she hesitantly began to unpack this subject matter with her previous album, Blue Banisters — but now, she’s ready to dig deeper. “At first I was so uncomfortable,” she says of the more personal material. “Then, by the grace of God, I just felt completely unburdened.”
As a singer-songwriter, this year’s Visionary honoree has embodied that word for over a decade. Her 2012 major-label debut, Born To Die, made her a star and defined music’s Tumblr era, as a young Del Rey toyed with both the romantic and the darker sides of the American dream. Her “world building,” as she calls it now, for her early work created a collage of beautiful and disparate images, pairing hip-hop aesthetics with references to the Kennedy family, Elvis Presley with John Wayne, and old Hollywood glamour with biker gang grit.
Since then, Del Rey has pushed musical boundaries — seamlessly peppering an album with features from Stevie Nicks to Playboi Carti (2017’s Lust for Life), reworking a Sublime cover into a contemporary Billboard Hot 100 hit (2019’s “Doin’ Time”), for instance — while achieving both critical acclaim and commercial success. She has earned six Grammy nominations and holds the record for most No. 1s on Billboard’s Alternative Albums chart. And somehow, each week, it seems a new song from her vast catalog gains traction on TikTok. (“West Coast” and “How To Disappear” are two recent breakouts.) Younger artists often cite her as an inspiration — including Billie Eilish, whom Del Rey now calls “my girl. It makes me feel comforted that music is going in such a good direction.”
I think it might look like that! It’s funny because I keep telling people, “I haven’t worked in three years,” but really I just haven’t done shows in three years. As soon as I start getting ready for a show, that’s when it feels like work.
How has your process changed since Born To Die came out?
Eleven years ago I wanted it to be so good. Now, I just sing exactly what I’m thinking. I’m thinking a little less big and bombastic. Maybe at some point I can have fun creating a world again, but right now, I would say there’s no world building. This music is about thought processing. It’s very, very wordy. I’m definitely living from the neck up.

The Sun : “Page 3 girl”, a controversial story
By Lucas Andrey
“Page 3” made The Sun famous. Featuring topless models, it was removed from the British tabloid in January 2015. A look back at 45 years of one of the most controversial traditions in British newspaper journalism.
Tumblr media
Source : GoogleImage
First appeared in the 17 November 1970 edition of The Sun after it is takeover by Rupert Murdoch, “Page 3 girl” featured naked women for entertainment purposes. The page quickly gained popularity and so did The Sun. Many British newspapers also began to publish topless models, including The Daily Mirror, The Sunday People, and The Daily Star.
Within a year, the sales of the media has doubled. It became the United Kingdom's biggest selling newspaper in 1978. The Sun's female journalists even had to review the images on “Page 3” before publication to make sure women would not consider them 'dirty' and avoid the sleazy images of the pornography titles.
In the 1980s, “Page 3” launched the careers of many models, including Samantha Fox, who posed topless for the British tabloid when she was just 16 years old. But this tradition, considered sexist and old-fashioned, also gave rise to many controversies from the 2000s.
“No More Page 3” campaign
From 2012 to 2015, a campaign in the United Kingdom aimed at convincing the owners and publishers of The Sun to stop publishing images of topless glamour models on “Page 3”. Launched by writer and actress like Lucy-Anne Holmes in August 2012, the campaign argued that “Page 3” perpetuated sexism, portrayed women as sexual objects, negatively affected the body image of girls and women, and contributed to a culture of sexual violence. The campaign gathered over 240,000 signatures on an online petition and gained the support of over 140 Members of Parliament, several trade unions, over 30 universities and numerous charities and advocacy groups. The Sun stopped publishing topless “Page 3” images in it's Irish edition in 2013, in its British editions in 2015 and on its Page3.com website in 2017. The Daily Star also stopped publishing images of topless glamour models in 2019.

6 OnlyFans Models Who Dated Professional Footballers
Tumblr media
Several famous footballers over the years have dated several famous names in adult entertainment! Check out the 6 OnlyFans models who dated professional footballers in the past. Several footballers have dated women that have launched OnlyFans accounts, including Manchester United legend Teddy Sheringham and former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant. In recent years, it has become increasingly popular for top athletes to launch accounts on adult content site OnlyFans in order to increase their earnings. As well as those athletes who have become OnlyFans creators, a number of high-profile footballers have dated OnlyFans models in the past. Those include former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant and Manchester United legend Teddy Sheringham, both having former partners who have OnlyFans accounts. RITA JOHAL Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez was married to Rita Johal for four years between 2015 and 2019, and the couple have two children together. Two years after their split, The Sun reported that Johal had joined OnlyFans in February 2021 after claiming she had been ‘fined for being too hot’ after breaking lockdown rules. Johal promoted her adult content to her 471,000 followers after launching the account, with subscriptions reportedly priced at £11.60-a-month including access to ‘exclusive music.’ ALICE GOODWIN Jermaine Pennant has had a tumultuous love life off the field, even by footballers’ standards, with a lengthy list of former partners and girlfriends. Among those is ex-wife and glamour model Alice Goodwin, who he married in 2014. However, the couple split in 2020 after nine years together. Former Babestation star Goodwin has racked up over 351,000 likes on her OnlyFans profile, where fans can sample her content for free for the first 30 days. Pennant and Goodwin’s relationship came under pressure during the former’s appearance on Celebrity Big Brother in 2018. On the show Pennant became close with fellow OnlyFans star and Page 3 model Chloe Ayling whilst on the show, with the pair even sharing a kiss during their time as housemates. INDIA REYNOLDS After finishing third on the 2019 series of Love Island, model India Reynolds was forced to deny claims she had cheated on basketball star Ovie Soko with former England defender Kieran Gibbs. Gibbs and Reynolds had both attended an event in Portugal, where it had been alleged that the pair had shared a kiss. However, Reynolds later told the Daily Mail that her relationship with the Inter Miami full back was purely platonic. As well as boasting 977,000 followers on Instagram, Reynolds also allows her fans to get their hands on her exclusive content through her OnlyFans profile, which has just under 38,000 likes. DANIELLE LLOYD Prolific WAG Danielle Lloyd has been linked with a number of high-profile Premier League footballers in the last two decades, including Jermaine Defoe, Jamie O’Hara and United legend Teddy Sheringham. The former Miss Great Britain dated Sheringham between 2006 and 2007 before being dumped after her appearances on Celebrity Big Brother. She then had a brief relationship with another former Portsmouth striker when she dated Defoe, who had reportedly once been engaged to a friend of Lloyd. Lloyd continued her love affair of former Pompey players when she married O’Hara, with whom she has three children. The couple split in 2014 after two years of marriage and Lloyd has since remarried. Lloyd joined OnlyFans in 2020 and has admitted she doesn’t care about what other parents think of her racy snaps. NATALIA ZOPPA Despite his romance with childhood sweetheart Sasha Attwood, Jack Grealish allegedly attempted to score with Love Island star and OnlyFans model Natalia Zoppa last year – claimed by her then-partner. The City and England winger was supposedly caught sliding into the reality star’s DMs with a waving hand emoji, with her then-boyfriend making the message public in a TikTok video. He wrote: ‘As if today couldn’t get any weirder, the best player in the Premier League tried to chat up my missus.’ Grealish never confirmed whether it was him who sent the message. Zoppa appeared on the 2020 winter series of Love Island and has since found fame on OnlyFans, where she has 87,500 likes. NATHALIE ANDREANI Back in October 2021, OnlyFans star Nathalie Andreani claimed that an unnamed member of the French national team had offered her £43,000 for a night together. She told French magazine Public: ‘I have had plenty of indecent proposals, notably one from a footballer. ‘He offered me €50,000 to spend the night with me. ‘On more than one occasion, I might add – but I turned him down. ‘He was a player with the France national team. ‘I was shocked. ‘It was a shame, as I would have fancied him had he not offered me money.’ ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ CASTING DIRECT SUCCESS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN WE work work work work work work work work work ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ CASTING DIRECT ARE FIRST AND FOREMOST: Modelling Agency Advice Center Marketing Management Social Media Management Camsite Management Studio Account-Based Camsite Management Tubesite Management Fansite Management Profile Management Casting To Studios Worldwide Casting Casting For Movies - Broadcasting The World Casting For TV Webcam Model Management Female Webcam Model Management Male Webcam Model Management Transvestite Webcam Model Management Trans-sexual Webcam Model Management TIPS & STORIES Got a tip to share? "Amal Clooney doesn’t like talking about herself. Sit with the 44-year-old lawyer, and she’ll take you on a tour of some of the worst places in the world, where despots reign and standing up for your rights can get you killed. Yet, inevitably, she finds women in these places who want to challenge power, and she supercharges them with her own power: the law.
I know that because I’m one of them. Just for doing my job as a journalist, the authorities in the Philippines filed 10 arrest warrants against me in less than two years. Amal has helped defend me since 2019, and I’m a rarity for her because she can actually talk to me. In the past, her journalist clients were in prison, and she worked to free them by combining law with an incisive understanding of politics, pragmatism, and public advocacy.
What I’ve learned as one of her clients is that her empathy is as strong as her knowledge of the law and her courage. She’s also a hard worker, poring over thousands of pages of documents, highlighting, and taking meticulous notes. As she has often told me, you can’t do strategy if you don’t have the details. She knows my cases inside out, and many more too. When we spoke, she reeled off countless ones from memory: in Malawi, Darfur, Egypt, Myanmar, Azerbaijan, Tanzania, and more. She makes sure that women who are victims of mass atrocities, including genocide and sexual violence, are not forgotten, that they get justice, that their lives and communities are better as a result.
It’s sometimes hard to see all of Amal because of the glamour and celebrity that can overshadow her work.

a deep dive into lana del rey
I can’t remember how exactly I stumbled across one of Lana Del Rey’s songs and what exactly started my obsession. I had simply never heard a voice like hers and the way she delivers her sound was like heaven to my ears and I immediately had to seek out her other music.
Tumblr media
Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, commonly known as Lana Del Rey, is known for her theme of writing songs about romance, addictions, and tragedy. She has an American vintage glamour vibe that she portrays not only in her music but also in her lifestyle. Most of Lana’s inspiration for her songs comes from her own life experiences with past boyfriends and the heartbreaks she endured. Her songs act as an outlet for her own trauma and feature strong themes and messages about love, obsession, darkness, and struggles as a human being.
Lana stated that one of her most famous songs, Born To Die, is about a past abusive and toxic relationship she struggled to get out of at a young age. She felt like she had no escape, and was unable to let go of him. She talks about finding her voice and strength to leave as she is now older with the lyrics, “Lost but now I am found/ I can see that once I was blind/ I was so confused as a little child”. Many women struggle with the same difficult situation regarding domestic violence and abusive partners, and it is quite admiring how Lana can take her pain and trauma and turn it into lyrics and music, to help others.
youtube
Her music videos give off a cinematic retro quality, are low-budget and some are even self-made and uploaded by Lana herself. For example, in her breakout album, Born to Die: The Paradise Edition, the music video for one of the most famous tracks, Video Games, was self-made and comprised of some clips of her singing on a computer camera, the busy streets of Hollywood, footage from the 1980s club scenes, and many more retro digital video footage.
Getting into Lana’s life, there’s a bit of mystery surrounding her. She is a high-earning mainstream successful artist yet she does not typically participate in Hollywood-esque events and likes to do things as a normal, non-famous person would. For example, sometime in July of 2023, she was spotted casually working in a Waffle House in Alabama, serving drinks and completely disregarding her celebrity status. Here’s an article that gets into what exactly she was doing at this particular Waffle House, it just shows how humble and down-to-earth Lana is.
Even her on-stage performances give off a relaxed, local vibe despite thousands of people being in the crowd and coming out just to see her. One of my favorite shows of hers features a clip of her setting down a lit cigarette on her microphone stand followed by her beginning to perform one of her most famous songs, Summertime Sadness. This clip went viral and goes to show why Lana is loved by so many. She has an intimate, genuine connection with her music and that is felt by her fans and anyone else who is listening.
She has experienced some success of her own. Her career-topping sixth album, Norman Fucking Rockwell!, was deemed the greatest release of 2019 by Pitchfork and is a Grammy Award nominee for album of the year. Del Rey's first two albums, "Born to Die" and "Ultraviolence," both appeared on various decade-end lists as 2019 drew to its conclusion. Insider named her one of the musicians who defined the decade. But soon after, Del Rey's actions started to receive more media attention than her music.
The Controversies
Although there are many people including myself who adore Lana’s music, she does have a fair share of critics, and many blogs and articles are written with a lack of agreement about her choice of music style and lyrics. Many criticize her decision to write about past abusive relationships and instead deem it as her glamorizing abuse and being anti-feminist. This blog by BBC goes into detail about the critiques and Lana’s responses to them. This is not the only article that goes into detail about Lana’s alleged “short-comings” in her career, there are many more and she often has to defend herself and the work she puts out.
Del Rey claimed to be writing "about the realities of what we are all now seeing are very prevalent emotionally abusive relationships all over the world" in her Instagram essay, picking up this theme. She went on to say that other women now had the freedom to express themselves through their music without having to sing about how happy they were, "in contrast to my experience where, if I even expressed a note of sadness in my first two records, I was deemed literally hysterical as though it was literally the 1920s."
Lana, like any other celebrity, has had her fair share of scandals and controversies, but this does not take away from her hard work and support of women who've been through struggles with domestic violence and also her intense love for her supporters and fans.

Profiles of Pride: June 21st! 🏳️‍🌈Peppermint🏳️‍🌈
Peppermint, or Miss Peppermint, is an American actress, singer, songwriter, television personality, drag queen, and activist from New York City. She is best known from the nightlife scene and, in 2017, as the runner-up on the ninth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. In 2018 Peppermint made her debut in The Go-Go’s-inspired musical Head Over Heels as Pythio, becoming Broadway’s first out trans woman to originate a lead role. She does not use her birth name, and asks that publications not deadname her.
Peppermint started performing as a child in youth theatre, playing roles at Opera Delaware, Delaware Children’s Theatre, and The Brandywiners Community Theatre. She continued performing at Wilmington High School where she was also on the cheerleading team.
Peppermint moved to New York City to study musical theatre at AMDA. While in college she got a job at the nightclub Tunnel’s Kurfew parties, ultimately becoming a fixture in New York City nightlife. She started recording music in 2005 for Jonny McGovern’s mixtape Jonny McGovern Presents: This is NYC, Bitch! The East Village Mixtape. She contributed the song “Servin’ It Up”, which was produced by Adam Joseph. The song was later released as Peppermint’s debut single in 2006.
Peppermint was featured in the web series Queens of Drag: NYC by gay.com in 2010. The series featured fellow New York drag queens Bianca Del Rio, Dallas DuBois, Hedda Lettuce, Lady Bunny, Mimi Imfurst, and Sherry Vine. She also appeared as a drag-version of Tyra Banks on America’s Next Top Model Cycle 14, Episode 5: “Smile and Pose” introducing a drag-theme runway challenge at Lucky Chengs in New York City.
Peppermint talked about being trans publicly for the first time on an episode of The Daily Show called “The Trans Panic Epidemic” in April 2016.
On February 2, 2017, Peppermint was announced as one of the fourteen contestants on the ninth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Though other transgender women have competed on RuPaul’s Drag Race, she was the first to have come out prior to the show airing, having come out in 2012.
She won the Roast Challenge in episode 8. She placed in the bottom two in two challenges, lip-synching to Madonna’s “Music” and the Village People’s “Macho Man”, winning both. Her performances earned her the favorable nickname “Lip Sync Assassin”. Ultimately, she finished in second place after winner Sasha Velour, after they both lip-synced to Whitney Houston’s “It’s Not Right but It’s Okay”.
Peppermint’s debut studio album Hardcore Glamour was self-released in 2009 and preceded by the singles “Servin’ It Up” and “Thought Ya Knew”. In 2011, Sherry Vine and Peppermint released a parody of the Lady Gaga and Beyoncé song “Telephone” titled “Make Me Moan”. Following the viral success of the music video, Peppermint later released other parody songs, including a parody of Azealia Banks’ song “212”, titled “21/12”. Her song “If I Steal Your Boyfriend” was used in the 2011 film Eating Out 5: The Open Weekend.
On April 3, 2017, Peppermint released a six-track EP of remixes of various songs she had released up to that point, including the single “Dolla in My Titty”. Her second studio album Black Pepper was released in June of the same year. A three-song EP with producer Cazwell called Blend was released in 2018. In 2019, Peppermint appeared on fellow Drag Race alum Trinity The Tuck’s single “I Call Shade”, which charted at number 13 on the Billboard Comedy Digital Tracks chart.
On February 11, 2020, it was announced that Peppermint was working on a new album, and the lead single “What You’re Looking For” was released on February 14, 2020. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight on August 28, 2020, Peppermint stated that the album would in fact be a trilogy of EPs, and that a full studio album was previously planned for a May 2020 release, but was delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The first of these EPs, A Girl Like Me: Letters to My Lovers, will be released on October 16, 2020, with the lead single “Best Sex” being released on October 2. Of the project, she said “it really does focus on my life – who I am as a trans woman – and everything that’s happening right now [with] Black Lives Matter, Black Trans Lives Matter and a lot of the issues that we are dealing with socially.” She also confirmed that the project would feature collaborations with Laith Ashley, Jerome Bell, Daniel Shevlin of Well-Strung, Matt Katz-Bohen of Blondie, Corey Tut and Adam Joseph.
The EP garnered Peppermint a nomination for Outstanding Music Artist at the 2021 GLAAD Media Awards.
Peppermint made her Broadway debut in The Go-Go’s-inspired musical Head Over Heels using the songs of The Go-Go’s. The plot of the show is somewhat based on The Countess of Pembroke’s Arcadia written by Sir Philip Sidney in the 16th century. The show began previews in June 2018 and officially opened July 2018, at the Hudson Theatre; playing the role of Pythio, Peppermint became the first trans woman to originate a principal role on Broadway.
Peppermint has had appearances on Pose and Saturday Night Live, and in October 2019 played the role of Pastor Olivia, “the [transgender] leader of an LGBTQ-friendly congregation”, in a two-episode arc of God Friended Me.
From 2019-2020, she co-hosted It’s a Mess podcast with Cazwell.
Peppermint is a co-founder of Black Queer Town Hall along with Bob The Drag Queen. The inaugural event featured speakers such as Laverne Cox and Angela Davis and raised over $270,000 for The Okra Project.
On June 2, 2021, Peppermint was announced as a cast member of OUTtv’s Call Me Mother, where her and fellow “Drag Mothers” Crystal and Barbada adopt and mentor up-and-coming drag talent over an 8-week journey as they compete to win the title of “First Child Of Drag” and a $50,000 prize package. In the show, Peppermint will be representing the House of Dulcet.
