I had a whole list of stuff I liked about Supergirl Ep. 6x07 “Fear Knot” typed out and then accidentally hit the keyboard command for ‘select all’ and THEN accidentally hit ‘b’ so.
A list! That will...be much shorter than the original! Because I’m very tired and don’t wanna type it up all over again! XD

Okay, rapid fire highlights, HERE WE GO!
Space Dad was the true MVP here! Just wonderful J’onn content throughout.
The Danvers Sisters hug! I wanted exactly one thing from this episode and that was it.
Interesting BTS info revealed about the hug: Originally, it was supposed to be the main trio (Kara, J’onn, Alex) but they trimmed it down for time so it ended up being just a Danvers Sisters moment AND, AND! Chyler’s ‘I got you,’ such a LOVELY callback to the Pilot, was ad-libbed!
Fine. Just. Make me feel feelings, show. Geez.
The Tower is a MARTIAN SPACESHIP!
Alex, re: the Tower reveal - “I love Martian technology.”
Same, Alex. Same.
The ENTIRE* GANG OF SUPERFRIENDS got meaty character bits that build on all of the stuff introduced in earlier episodes!
*Save for M’gann, but I appreciated they at least had a line about how she was staying behind to hold down the fort.
Anyways, back to character stuff, in particular! We see Kelly grapple with feeling out of her depth as the lone ‘normal’ one in a group of heroes/vigilantes, introduced in...was it 6x03? AND we see the set-up for GUARDIAN, WOO!
The thing I love about the Guardian mantle, for James and as we’ll no doubt see for Kelly, is that it’s about protecting people; their weapon of choice isn’t really a weapon at all, but a shield.

J’onn and Alex’s stuff more directly ties into how they’ve been handling the ‘save Kara’ mission
Obviously Alex’s fears in particular speak to the larger, ongoing stuff about how so much of Alex’s identity is wrapped up in protecting Kara, but this mini-arc of seven episodes has sort of...laser focused that? A little?
This made a lot more sense in the first draft I swear. XD
And J’onn gets to come full circle with successfully completing the mission by being both a dad AND a strategic leader.
And then poor Nia is still struggling with insecurities regarding her dreaming powers, a thread that looks like it’ll carry over into the next set of episodes.

The Lena portion...occurred!
Not really gonna comment on it beyond the very good sci-fi references they packed in there. Of course, we have the Alien 3 reference (which I've opted not to include b/c it’s a pretty gross image that could be upsetting if you’re not expecting it? Also I’m sure it’s all over twitter.)
But the Kelpie also had an Abyss vibe, IMO:
J’onn’s Space Dad montage was EXCELLENT.
J’onn: “NOT TODAY SATAN”
Oh, also, the red Phantom eyes and in-synch talking in Kelly’s fear vision was very creepy.
The different pairings of various characters was cool! I really liked Brainy and Kelly chatting.
And then poor Kara!

WITHOUT HOPE!
FEELING LIKE A DANGER AND A BURDEN TO HER LOVED ONES!
Oh, that meaty character work, we LOVE. TO. SEE. IT.
And shock of all shocks, it is PAPA ZOR?!?!?! WHO SNAPS HER OUT OF IT!??!?!?!
BUT! Papa Zor-El is only able to snap Kara out of it because HE HIMSELF was snapped out of his funk by Kara!
And like. I’ve seen the complaint that this relationship has not been built up enough for us to really care but...IDK. I’m a sucker for the moment where he like, gently touches her face and delivers that hope speech and
GUH! FEEEEEELINGS!!!!
And you know what? I’m glad. That Kara’s dad is not The Worst in this particular adaptation.
I mean. He’s done some incredibly sketchy things still, but. Not quite ‘experimenting on your own child, sending her to a foreign planet WITHOUT ANY CLOTHES and brainwashing her into murdering her cousin’ levels, you know?
“That’s my family. They’re really here.”
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!
And then the hug! THE HUG! It’s so quick but it’s so good and I can’t WAIT. UNTIL AUGUST 24th!
I also love that we got a teaser of the next episode?! That was awesome and wholly unexpected.
(OFFICE SHENANIGANS! AAHHHH LOOKS SO GOOD!)
Oh, also, Nyxly (Nixly??) lives! And catches a ride to Earth Prime, which I’m sure will go over well. XD
As always, some OVERALL THOUGHTS!
ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR DAVID! An interesting but no doubt tricky episode to direct! It came together so nicely, though, and had some genuinely neat set-ups in terms of how they used the cast and set.
(Also round of applause for Chyler’s episode last week, totally forgot to give her props in my list. FOR SHAME. For shame.)
In terms of season 6 thus far as a whole...I’ve just really liked this front half, here.
The Supergirl folks have had to work around some incredibly challenging extenuating circumstances during the final season of their show--I mean. They didn’t have their LEAD ACTRESS until several months into filming! DURING A PANDEMIC!
And while...yeah, I’ll admit I found some of the exposition in various episodes to be. Trying? And still pretty packed because they’re juggling so many characters...that they’ve managed to have such nice character bits throughout is just. GOOD. IT’S VERY GOOD. I LIKE IT A LOT.
As I mentioned above, this mini-arc of seven episodes has done such a solid job of setting up and developing internal conflicts for the characters that are exacerbated by the external conflict that is Kara’s absence. Like, everything is pretty tight! And connected! There’s such a good through-line EVEN WITH the two time travel episodes!
(And, okay, I’ll indulge in one targeted bit of ‘c’mon fandom, really?’ - I’ve already seen complaints of, ‘I thought this show was about SUPERGIRL’ re: this particular episode and like...did you miss? The whole previous episode? That was such a nice Kara showcase? And I say again: LEAD ACTRESS. WAS UNAVAILABLE. AND HAD TO PLAY CATCH-UP. ALSO, PANDEMIC.)
(And in fact, the whole Phantom Zone plot has been a BRILLIANT bit of efficient storytelling--you not only have an in-universe reason for your lack of a lead, but also, it creates this space for the other characters to really miss Kara.
I guess the way I would describe it is like...going back to Kara’s original death in Crisis--yeah, it sucked that she died, but the entire DC Universe came together to talk about how heroic and great she was. And in a final season? Of a show called Supergirl? If you can’t have your lead on screen, the NEXT BEST THING is to have the character’s presence really felt via the OTHER characters.
With stuff like, having her inspire them! And reflecting on what she means to them, as a friend and family member!
...Again, this made more sense in the original draft? XD)
...Anyways.
My only nitpicks: I miss Will! But understand why he hasn’t been around, from a story standpoint. Also, the dialogue in some of the earliest episodes didn’t always...gel? But these last three in particular have been much improved in that regard.
IDK if I’ll keep these li’l positivity lists going throughout the remainder of the last batch of episodes--the move to Tuesday night has been tough. XD But either way, SUPER (ha, ha) excited for the back half!

Supergirl Season 5 premiere review!
Ok!! So there's a lot to process here but first off WOW! Bravo! 👏👏 as season premieres go that was probably one of if not the best.
Ok... So opening scene, you could so tell that was a simulation from the way Kara talked. I should also like to give a big 🖕🖕 to all those that were dragging Lena saying she either:
1. Gave herself super powers
2. Used Kryptonite
3. Punched Kara in front of some school kids.
Is it just me, or does Hope the AI give off an "I'm going to become sentient and be a massive pain in the ass?" Vibe? 🤔🤔
My poor baby Lena, how awful must it be to believe that everyone you know has betrayed you, that you can't trust them and you have no one to talk to? So you create your own personal AI that won't (probably will ) betray you, oh and you bring someone (Andrea ) back into your life when clearly things haven't always been smooth sailing? Poor Lena!
Ugh..Must they throw out politics less that 3 minutes into the show? We have Kara talking about registering to vote?
Ok, so everyone is praising Kara, she's talking about having her work recognised, Baker and Lex being taken down, but yet again there is NO mention of the fact that it was Lena who figured out where Lex was, Lena who helped Kara/Supergirl etc. Oh that's right I forgot, the show doesn't like to acknowledge when things couldn't have been done without Lena 😤😤

Yes!! They have Kara acknowledging that lying to Lena for so long while being all about 'truth' wasn't fair.
Yes Alex the voice of reason Danvers!! She can tell Kara off essentially while still praising her and letting her know she is good. I'm loving how it's ALEX who is saying Lena needs to know!

Ok... so all in all a fab episode, nothing was dragged out thank RAO! I don't hate Lena for wanting to expose Kara, it makes sense from a comic point of view and from the pain she feels. The important thing is she didn't do it. People are allowed to feel like they are going to lash out when they are hurt.
I quite like Andrea, she's a breath of fresh air! Plus she isn't wrong in her ideas, just because it's something Kara, Nia and James don't like doesn't mean it's wrong. I think she was treated horribly and despicably by Kara and James though. Especially Kara! That was way to much and she should have been sacked. I'm really happy someone is at Cat Co now that is challenging her and not doing whatever she says, I think the days of Karaolsen magazine and Kara running out whatever she wants are done. But this is good!
Nia is adorable but didn't get to do much.
Jonn was pretty boring this ep considering the villain was out to get him.
James sucks!
Brainy is sooo cute and funny!
Alex and Kelly are the best!

last darling in the franxx ep(spoilers ahead)
lol at hachi going from having no eye to having it again for a bit. Ending was good. I was on the shelf with all the space stuff. they really lost me for a bit, but really came back with that ending. Really though, what was 02 going to do if she came back? Probably just hover about and play with the kids as if they were cats. 02 and Hiro being together was great. Was dreading that we were going to get another Nia and simon situation. Goro getting being the breadwinner/maker for his family. Glad he didnt end up single rofl. Overall great show would not place it in my top 10 though.

I really don't understand why Chloe and Christi came back. I mean if they really had THAT much against the girls then why come back and claim to be bffs?? The whole 'no one texted chloe' has only come from Christi. And why would Kendall lie about it?? She literally said in an episode that she tried. I mean if I texted someone and they didn't reply then I wouldn't try again, it would send a clear message out to the other person that they want nothing to do with them. (1)
(2) and I don’t see why the fandom are blaming Kendall for Chloe leaving. Yes Christi was sticking up for her but that’s not Kendall’s fault that she decided to do that. And plus people are saying ‘Kendall has never stuck up for Chloe’ well as far as I can remember Chloe has never stuck up for Kendall either so. We’ll never really know who did or didn’t message Chloe but they seem to be getting along fine. It’s just the moms who seem to have a major issue.
well first of all, christi and chloe came back because chloe wanted to find some closure. money may have also been a factor, as well as publicity. chloe also is not known to hold grudges, so her coming back and still being open to friendship with the girls is indicative simply of her kind personality, not any ulterior motives.
the girls themselves have stated no one texted chloe except for nia and maybe kalani. nia and kalani literally had a meet and greet where they confirmed they were the only ones to reach out. kendall would lie because she was told to lie, by jill or abby or the producers or all three, because they wanted to make the lukasiaks out to be the villains at the beginning of s5 (remember, this was when they tried the whole “kelly and christi are trying to DESTROY the aldc” storyline that petered out pretty quickly). I understand that kendall was in a super toxic environment where she couldn’t necessarily buck the system w/o consequences, but that doesn’t mean she still didn’t lie.
I haven’t seen anyone blame kendall for chloe leaving. I have said that jill and kendall acted pretty ungratefully to christi for standing up for kendall during s4 nationals. literally the insult to chloe’s eye wouldn’t have happened if abby hadn’t been pissed at christi for standing up for kendall. I know no one asked her to do that, but if she hadn’t stood up for kendall, I’m sure people would drag her over that because everything and anything christi does is wrong to parts of the fandom.
kendall hasn’t just not stuck up for chloe, she’s also lied about chloe on national television (lying about the texts, lying in her throwback special about how chloe was such a ~rival~ and chloe ruined her ‘demand applause’ performance). no, chloe has never verbally stood up for kendall, although she has comforted and encouraged kendall when they were on dm together. and she never lied about her on tv.
I’m glad chloe and kendall are on friendly terms again. I’m glad kendall has a friend like chloe, and I’m glad chloe doesn’t hold grudges against kendall. I’m glad the girls are happy to dance and hang out together. and honestly, after the christi-jill confrontation in chloe’s first ep back, the moms have been fine. idk what happened offscreen, but christi and jill seem friendly again, which regardless of my personal feelings on jill, is fine. good for christi and jill that they can be friendly again.
sorry for the rant. it just seems so often that this fandom ascribes malice to everything the lukasiaks do, while excusing things that other families do.

Positively Grim Ep.1
Today was going to be a good day. You could feel it even before you opened your eyes. You didn’t remember much of yesterday but you could just feel that it wasn’t a good day. Shaking off the negatively cold feeling from your shoulders you went on getting up to start your day right, by taking a shower. Guess I haven’t introduced myself yet but, Hey, my name is Nia Mbo. Anyways, my shower took a bit longer because I had to wash it to prepare it for a blowout. Today was my day back from visiting my family and though the break was nice it was time to go back to work. Usually, if I didn’t get my hair done beforehand it was really hard to get my hair into the cap I had to have on. After I got that out of the way I made my way downstairs to eat breakfast and I almost had a heart attack. In my kitchen stood a man, really tall, about 6’2 in my kitchen making coffee and just chilling. I stopped midway down the stairs.
“Did I sleep with someone last night?” I said to myself. “No that can’t be it.” coming to one conclusion I decided it was an intruder. Clutching my bag I crept down the stairs as quiet as I could but then he caught me. He looked right into my eyes so I had no choice but to. “CHARGE!!!!!” I exclaimed as I ran at him full force. But to no avail, my efforts were wasted because he just bent down and hoisted me over his shoulders. Well damn.
But that didn’t stop my fire. I started kicking and wriggling and screaming for the police. Oddly enough though he just let me.
“Hey Nia, calm down and let me explain.” The mysterious man said.
That made me stop. How did he know my name? But that didn’t stop for long and soon after I was wriggling and fighting his back again. “Put me down!” I demanded. But he refused.
“Not until you promise to stop fighting me and to let me explain.” He stated. But of course, I didn’t listen to him up till I ran out of strength and willpower.
“Ok,” I pouted “I give in.” and he put me down. Big mistake buddy, soon as he did I attacked again. And again, he picked me up. I ran out of energy once again and gave in. “Okay, I promise this time, put me down.” So he put me down on the table and he sat in the seat next to my legs.
“Start speaking.” I demanded, pretending I actually had the upper hand here. I glared down at him.
“Did you know you actually look very harmless right now? Like a little puppy thinking its a big scary dog.” then he laughed at me. In my own house, I oughta. Only if I was bigger. “See,” he paused to wipe his tears from laughter “you died in the future they brought you back to the past, I’m kind of your death manager and also I’m supposed to motivate you to do it right this time kiddo.” Taekwoon got up and patted my head. “Well, imma get going now, good luck.” and Just like that so rudely and informally he made his way out.
“Wait!” I grabbed onto his wrist but regretted it soon after when my hand felt as if I had dipped it into a pot of hot oil. I screamed a little (Lot).
Taekwoon jumped and shoved my hand off of him. “Yah! Don’t touch me I could die,” he screamed.
“Sorry, sorr-” I paused “how are you supposed to die if you are already dead?” I questioned.
He waved me off “Long story if you want to hear it you’ll have to score a goal on me in soccer.”
“Um ok, anyways what am I supposed to do differently?” I asked, not that I believed anything this intruder was saying or anything but you know, it could never hurt to know.
“Ah,” he put his finger in the air. I noticed that he talked with his hands a lot, you know, I always thought Grim Reaps were supposed to be emotionless and s~c~a~r~y. So far Taekwoon is actually pretty cute for a dead guy, he kinda looks like a cat, and he's also adorable. And now he was giving me this odd look with a slight smirk; his finger still in the air. Kinda sexy really.
“You do know I can read your mind right?” He pointed out bringing me back to reality.
Putting my hands up to my head for protection I answered “I would believe that if you could convince me that you are actually a grim reaper and not some homeless man who snuck into my house for some coffee”
Taekwoon rolled his eyes.
O.K Mr.Sassy.
“A homeless man would not be wearing a beautiful suit like this and surely wouldn’t be dressed like this. Anyways; to answer you question HR said, listen carefully, ‘No matter how hard, Listen’.”
I crossed my arms over my chest and raised an eyebrow “That’s it?”
“That’s it.” and with that, he exited through the door.
“I should’ve just called the police instead of listening to his bullshit.” I shook my head at myself. It was nice not having to make my own coffee this morning though, its been a while. But I do have to admit something feels off. You know those days where you just know something is going to happen whether good or bad you know it was going to be big. Well, maybe you don’t but that's how I felt that morning.
My ride to work was beautiful, honest to God. For a busy place like Seoul, everything was oddly peaceful, kind of made me glad I was alive. But like all good things that quickly came to an end. The second I got to the hospital I was already being called on.
“NIA!”Minki screeched “Thank god you’re here. It’s an emergency, COME!” As I followed Minki I lowkey wanted to kill myself. Minki was one of those girls you hate to like but just end up liking them anyway. Like really. She was an adorable girl yes, really small with a small face and cute little freckles but her voice was louder than my mom speaking to relatives on the phone; and that’s scary for such a little girl to produce so much noise. Honestly, though I had no right calling her a little girl, she was about 7 years older than me. She was 34 so no she was actually 9 years older than me.
“What’s up?” I asked as I put on my Scrubs.
“It’s a VIP patient,” she started to explain.
“VIP Patient?” I asked my voice a little muffled with my hairband in my mouth I put my hair up “I don’t do those types of patients though.”
“I know I know,” Minki and I went to wash our hands “But his doctor went on vacation and you're the best here so we have to use you.”
“Ok.” I nodded, breathing heavy trying to hype myself up a bit. I bounced around a little. “Let's go.” I walked in and my team was ready. “What does it look like?”
“It seems to be Cardiomyopathy, he has a history of heart attacks-”
“How many?” I interrupted.
“About two.”
“Then it’s pretty serious. Let’s start.”
Girl you got this, focus. You can save him, you can save him. This is a person's life, you must do your absolute best. Self motivation is key guys, I honestly feel like peeing my pants, but I am confident. Am I the only one who feels that way? Like, I’m confident in my abilities but there is always that what if moment. What if I sneeze? What if I accidentally cut too deep? What if?-
-3 hours later-
I finalised the paperwork right before my lunch break but just as I was about to leave-
“Family is here.” Hae Jin with his fine self came into the room. He leaned on the wall and crossed his arms causing his muscles to bulge. Man, if we didn’t work together the things I would do to this man-
“Oh, Park Hae Jin. Long time no see.” I smiled up at him.
He smiled back (and I almost died right there) tilting his head to the side a bit and grazing his hand through his hair. I swear I’m not lying when I say this dude checked out the cakes. “Not bad, and yourself?”
“I’m good,” I said as I finished the papers. “Who’s the family?”
“Son it seems like.”
I nodded and started my way out having no choice but to pass by him. He grabbed my wrist holding me back. “Nia, if you're not booked for your break wanna eat together?”
“Mh,” I pretended to think “I’m booked for my break though.” obviously a lie, forever lonely.
“Maybe tomorrow then?” he asked.
“I should be free.” and with that, I left. I made my way to the elevator and went on up to the 7th floor in the VIP Gold room. Outside was an abundance of huge bodyguards. I tried to enter the room but one blocked me asking who I was.
“Obviously the doctor,” I replied.
“ID please,” he asked.
“What is this an entrance to a club?” I joked but they didn’t find it funny. Now that I’m thinking about it it really wasn’t that funny. I pulled my Doctor ID that was already in clear view up to their faces and they moved out of the way. Walking into the room the sons back was turned to me. He didn’t dress like a chaebol more like a wannabe idol boy. But when he turned around though, whoa, boy was really fine, like goddam.
“Are you the son?” I asked.
“Yes, doctor?” he asked a question.”You look kind of too young to be a doctor though.” he put his hand under his chin and had the other supporting it.
“ I am traditionally too young to be a doctor.” I cleared my throat and started to get to the point. “It seems that your father had cardiomyopathy that was caused by a past problem.” I passed him the copies of the paper. “He should be awake by tomorrow and discharged in a week. When he is you must make sure to keep his heart rate low and watch what he eats and what may stress him out. The next time he has a heart attack, if he does, will be fatal to his life and must be taken seriously.”
When I had finished my little spiel the son was just watching me in astonishment. “How old are you?”
I crossed my arms and raised my brow lightly glaring at him. “Out of everything I’ve said that's what you come up with?”
He laughed. He LAUGHED. “No, it’s just really adorable your so small and cute but so serious and professional.”
“I mean I am a Surgeon at work. It’s literally my JOB to be professional or else I wouldn’t be here.” I lightly snapped. Just a twinge, Just ittywitty- enough to not get me fired-bit. “Everything that I said earlier that you ignored is on the papers I just gave to you.” I bowed to him “Have a good day, sir.” and I made my grand exit squeezing through the Goliath-like bodyguards. Ok maybe I’m exaggerating but they were goliath like to ME.
