Number Nine - Joe Burrow

This will be LSU Burrow.

“Watch where you’re going Burrow!” You shouted at the quarterback for your school, him whipping around to glare at you.

“Maybe you shouldn't be in the way.” He shrugged as he kept walking, his friends tussling his hair as he shoved them off.

LSU had a big game against Alabama and the closer it gets to game day, the more chaotic campus gets.

It was two days prior, meaning it was insane. People were out and about, them all basically shoving into each other,.

The school was having a pep rally that they were requiring the football team to attend.

This game was more than just a game. This game was for the division title.

You knew this, but honestly, you could have cared less about it at this time.

You and Joe had history.

You and Joe had been close for years, him being one of the reasons you chose to attend LSU over Michigan. You never missed one of his games and that's what confused your friends the most. Neither of you had spoken in a few weeks. You two had a bad argument before a game against Georgia and you hadn't heard anything since, until today when you snapped at him.

Little did you know, your friend and Joe had been in contact, him not exactly explaining what had happened between you two, but he wanted to ensure that they'd somehow have you at the game tonight- which they agreed to.

It was days later and the game was in approximately a hour and a half, and currently, your friends were in your dorm, begging you to attend with them.

“Please!” Kira begged as she sat beside you, your other friends sitting on your roommates bed, “Worst case scenario is they lose and we go home immediately.”

You rolled your eyes at her, knowing that is exactly how it wouldn’t go. Whether LSU or Alabama won, you all would be going out to a nearby bar or whatever party was being thrown.

Because that's how your friends are.

“Fine! Whatever- if it makes you shut up about it.” You grumbled as she tossed her hands around you.

“Oh thank you!” She pressed a sloppy kiss to your cheek, “Glad you came to your senses.” She grinned, “Let’s get this on you then.” “Dont push it K.” you said, “Also, we are not sitting near the front and I’ll be damned if I wear... that.” You said as you pointed towards the LSU jersey that was hanging on the back of your door that read ‘Burrow’ on the back of it, now in Kira’s hands.

Your friends looked at wearily, them not sure what had you so pissed off at him. They knew something was up because of where Joe had approached them, but nothing was said and they didnt ask out of respect for you.

But now that you were acting weird about sitting in an area that you normally sat in, going to a game you wouldnt have missed for the world, and wearing your favorite person’s jersey? They knew something was up and whatever it was- it was not going to end well for you.

“Whatever you say.”

You grumbled under your breath as you and your four friends walked to the seats you typically sat in.

Your eyes met Joe’s back. As soon as you sat down, you saw Joe turn around with his teammate talking to him, but it wasn't Joe that saw you. It was Ja’marr.

“Dont look now Burrow.” Ja’marr said as he clapped his hand on Joe’s back, acting like everything was normal, “But Y/N is here.”

“She’s what?” Joe looked shocked, but he listened to his friend and decided not to look for you in the stands.

LSU had won.

They were the national champions of the SEC and all Joe wanted to do was celebrate.

But most importantly, he wanted to celebrate with you.

You and your friends hung around the stadium, watching all the players congratulate each other along with their friend groups. The field was practically empty as you guys had gotten up to leave, it no longer feeling like your place to see Joe like that after a game anymore.

“Hey wait!” You heard a deep voice call after you, you not stopping until you heard your name shouted.

“Y/N!” another voice chimed in causing you two whip around, seeing Joe and Ja’marr walking towards you.

Of course Ja’Marr knew it all. He was one of Joe’s closest friends and honestly, sometimes his voice of reason.

“You came.”

“and I’m leaving.” You said as you turned around, trying to take a step forward, but was pulled back once you felt a hand on your forearm.

“Wait.” you heard a whisper as you watched your friends clear you, giving you two space, “Talk to me. Please?”

“I have nothing to say to you.” you said as you jerked your arm from his grasp.

It had been a couple of days since your last interaction with Joe and you were sort of starting to feel bad for the way you treated him in the tunnel.

You two had met up and talked about things, you finally hearing his side of everything, him apologizing profusely until you forgave him, which in the end- you did.

“You’re lucky you’re cute.” You chuckled as you two sat on the couch in his off campus house.

“Wait, you think I’m cute?”

“Sure do number nine.” You grinned up at him, “Have for the last two years JB.”

“Good.” His eyes widened before he smirked, “Glad to know we make a good team.” he continued, “I just dont understand why you didn't say anything before?”

“Why’s that?” you asked, “and we were just friends, nothing more, nothing less.” you shrugged.

“Because it’s good to know that for when I ask you out.” he said, ignoring the last part you had said.

“Oh.” You widened your eyes, clearly taken back by his comment, “So you want to-“

“I do. Have for a while.” He said as he turned his body to get a better look at you, “That’s if you want to.”

“Count me in nine.”

i'm going on a VERY fun rabbit hole with this life series/hermitcraft/empires blaseball au thing, so have the next installment, the hermit blaseball au! this one is a lot easier to understand if you don't know anything about blaseball, because this is Much more "i've just put them into the plot of blaseball, they're just hanging out in there". my empires blaseball au can be found here, and the third life blaseball au will be linked here one i finish writing that up.

This AU is, even more so than the Empires part of this AU, just me shoving the Hermits into the Blaseball universe and letting it happen.

The only people who are even sort of replacing an actual Blaseball player are Cleo, Joe, and Gem.

Cleo is our Jaylen. She pitches for the Kansas City Breath Mints, and is the best pitcher in the league, and when the Forbidden Book opens, she dies. Her intended replacement is False Symmetry II, aka Empires!False, but when the Forbidden Book is opened in the Empires, Hermitcraft, and Life Series universes all at once, everything gets a little muddled, and everyone comes out of it a little muddled. The biggest change is that Cleo is instead replaced by Gemini Tay, the newly generated player from the Empires world who was meant to replace Xornoth.

When she is resurrected at the end of season 6, Joe goes into the Shadows in exchange. Within a few seasons, he is able to leave the Shadows and bats for the Breath Mints for about a season, afterwards he is transferred to the Seattle Garages, where he stays. I am not putting him back in the Shadows because it makes me kind of sad.

Cub and Jevin are both players for the Thieves, so they get cursed as a result of the boss fight against the Shelled One. We will resolve that later. Hels, despite being on the Crabs, does not get cursed, because he doesn’t join the Crabs until after they return from ascension.

Other than that, the Hermits are just sort of Existing in the world of Blaseball. Evil X and Hels are both created in similar ways to Evil Twin and Bontgomery Mullock, which is to say, Blessings break and accidentally clone a guy, so we just slightly edit one of their names and keep going. Don’t worry about it.

At one point during Expansion, while the Reroll Will is still in effect, fans of the Thieves attempt to reroll the Flinch modifier that Cub got as a side effect of fighting god and losing that one time. It gets rerolled into Debt, in a similar vein to what happened to Silvaire Roadhouse, but because he’s on the Thieves, he actually gets to kill people. Good for him. Jevin’s Flinch modifier also gets rerolled, but he gets Reverberating. Good for him, but in a different direction.

Tom Bukovac (born December 20, 1968) is an American session musician and producer. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and raised in nearby Willowick, Ohio. He has been a Nashville-based musician since 1992.[1] He previously owned 2nd Gear, a used music consignment shop in South Nashville.[2]

Bukovac began playing guitar at age eight, and performed his first shows at age thirteen at his widowed mother's bar, The Surfside Lounge, in Eastlake, Ohio. He moved to Nashville in 1992 to pursue a career as a guitarist.[1]

Bukovac has played on over 1200 albums,[1] including projects by Dan Auerbach and The Black Keys, Kid Rock, Morgan Wallen, Ann Wilson, The Struts, Steven Tyler, Stevie Nicks, Bob Seger, John Oates, Joan Osborne, Vince Gill, Dave Stewart, Joss Stone, Hank Williams Jr., Sheryl Crow, Don Henley, Carrie Underwood, Richard Marx, Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban, Willie Nelson, Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Kenny Loggins, Reba McEntire, Blake Shelton, LeAnn Rimes, Florida Georgia Line, Lionel Richie, among many others.[3]

Bukovac has toured with Ann Wilson (2022 - Fierce Bliss Tour), Joe Walsh (2017) – Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers 40th Anniversary Tour[4]); Vince Gill (2016); John Fogerty; Faith Hill; Trigger Hippy; Wynonna Judd; Tanya Tucker, and others.[5] Bukovac is currently a member of The Jim Irsay band.

Bukovac has also won the Academy Of Country Music guitar player of the year award four times – 2008, 2010, 2016, and 2021.

Lonesome Cowboys Andy Warhol, 1968

A set of original 16mm presentation reels of the film that sparked the “Stonewall of the South.” Six 35mm film reels housed in 2 metal flight cases. Movielab, New York, pritned ca. 1969.

On the evening of 5 August 1969, a small crowd of seventy settled in to view Andy Warhol’s Lonesome Cowboys at the recently opened art cinema at the Ansley Mall in Atlanta. About fifteen minutes into the homoerotic underground spoof on westerns featuring Warhol stars Viva, Joe Dallesandro, Eric Emerson, Meade, and Tom Hompertz, the film suddenly stopped, and the house lights went up. The police, some in uniform, others in plainclothes, were everywhere, some with cameras taking photographs of the startled movie-goers still in their seats. Those who attempted to depart quickly were blocked at the door and they too were photographed and questioned by Atlanta police officers. Other officers headed upstairs to the projection room to seize the film reels and arrest James Russ, the manager of the Ansley Mini-Cinema. The police mounted the raid not only to enforce local obscenity laws but identify “known homosexuals,” part of a pattern of harassment that members of Atlanta’s gay Midtown neighborhood routinely endured. Abby Drue, a noted LBGTQ activist, was in the audience that night. “They had everybody get up and line up,” she recalled. “We had popcorn in our mouths. I think I had a submarine sandwich I was in the middle of eating. That’s how absurd it was.”

The police raid in Atlanta occurred a little more than a month after the Stonewall riots in New York, and for many members of the city’s burgeoning LGBTQ community, the raid on the Ansley Mini-Cinema was the final straw. Several days after the raid, a group of protesters were pepper-sprayed and some arrested. These events compelled Atlanta’s LGBTQ community to form the Georgia Gay Liberation Front. That organization would mount Atlanta’s first Pride march in 1971 — an unsanctioned march in which many of participants wore paper bags over their heads to protect their identities — starkly demonstrating the risk of physical harm that was an ever-present threat. Despite local hostility, the marches continued, and Atlanta’s LBGTQ community began flourishing over the ensuing decades becoming strong and vibrant. Today, the raid has been dubbed, “The Stonewall of the South.”

Yet the Atlanta police were not the only law enforcement agency to take interest in Lonesome Cowboys. The FBI had been monitoring the film soon after it was filmed in a single day a dude ranch near Tucson, Arizona on 28 January 1968. A Special Agent was dispatched to Arizona to interview witnesses to support a potential charge of “interstate transportation of obscene matter.” The investigation had been prompted by a complaint received at the Pinal County Sherriff, that “some guests at the Rancho Linda Vista Guest Ranch were making an obscene film.” Sherriff’s deputies arrived at the ranch on the afternoon of the 28th and ordered that the filming be halted immediately. The FBI kept a copiously detailed dossier on the film’s production based on eyewitness accounts that offer a window into the chaos of the film’s production covering all aspects from various “unnatural sexual acts” to details on the license plate numbers (redacted) of those on set. One eyewitness recalled that “The movie seemed to have no plot and the actors just said anything that came into their minds.” (Vincent Canby and other critics would take a similar view.) The FBI continued to monitor the film’s production and distribution, noting that Warhol had intended it to be premiered at the Hudson Theatre in New York in late April 1968, but editing was taking longer than planned. Then in early June, Warhol fell victim to an assassination attempt, further delaying production. It finally premiered at the San Francicso International Film Festival on 1 November 1968, and FBI agents were there collecting further evidence.

Meanwhile in Atlanta, the question of whether the film could be considered obscene landed in the courts. Ultimately, Lewis Slayton, the Fulton County District Attorney, allowed the film to be shown after Cradock Films, who held the rights to distribute the film in Georgia, agreed to edit out what the county considered objectionable. By early January 1970, the Ansley Mini-Cinema was once again presenting Lonesome Cowboys. As far as the FBI’s investigation into Warhol’s activities was concerned, federal prosecutors in Arizona, San Francisco and New York ultimately declined to pursue the charges in court, as the film was not considered “obscene within the definition of that word as defined by the Supreme Court of the United States.”

The present copy is believed to have been printed as early as 1969, but no earlier. According to the FBI report on the film’s screening in San Francisco in November 1968, the film opened with “the woman [Viva] and her male nurse [Taylor Meade] on a street in the town,” but the present copy, opens with a sex scene between Viva and Tom Hompert which appears to be consistent with the currently-known copies. The markings found on the paper sleeves include a red stamp for “INTERNATIONAL AMUSEMENT CORP,” a short-lived distribution and production company based in North Carolina established in 1974. This would suggest this film was in circulation in various art houses up until at least the mid to late 1970s.

The current number of original copies used during the film’s showings in 1969 and 1970 is unclear, but the present set of reels is marked as “Print No. 10” on each of the surviving paper sleeves. Original reels of the film are known to have survived including a master print at the Andy Warhol museum and copies at the Museum of Modern Art, and the Art Institute of Chicago. It is not clear if other copies survive in any private collections.

Those were all 37 entries of the 2022 edition of the Tmblrvision Song Contest! If you'd like to relive the whole show and see all the postcards (created for us by @escape-radio), then you can rewatch the show using this link!

Here's a look once again at all 37 artists!

Now it's time to vote!

Jury Vote

Each Head of Delegation must vote for their ten favorite songs. Scores will be assigned Eurovision-style to each song, with 12 points to the top favorite all the way to 1 point to the 10th favorite. Two alternates (11th and 12th place) must also be provided in case of any disqualifications. If you do not submit your votes on time, you WILL be disqualified, and all votes for your entry will be nullified!

Audience Vote

Every Tumblr user (whether you’re a Head of Delegation or not) can vote once in the audience vote (also known as the televote)! You have 50 votes to spread around, but you can only vote for a song a maximum of 10 times. If you vote for any song more than 10 times, your ballot WILL be thrown out. When filling in points, please DO NOT place a zero on songs you are not voting for, as this screws up the statistics and adds more work for me! (If you’re a member of the Discord server but don’t have a Tumblr account, you are also eligible to vote!)
