A new hairdo for this one, and I'm much happier with her. Despite loving the details on this doll, she has consistently been my least favorite. Changing to the striped fabric for the limbs made a huge difference, but I still wasn't entirely pleased with her. It was something about the eyebrow/forehead area...and then I realized that a lot of the issue was just how small her forehead was. I had tried something different when setting the face to give a fuller chin, and in turn, had shrunk her forehead just a little too much. Head height was desperately needed🤣...awww...much better! Legs assembly process: The outer fabric is interlined with thick felt, so they are treated as one for sewing/turning. It makes for a much smoother finish in the final dolls- no visible unevenness in the stuffing, etc. I've cut the felt away from the boot area, and I'm instead treating the faux leather, and the outer fabric as one for that portion of the leg. When it's turned, the boot is a part of the leg instead of a separate piece that is applied later. (Make sure that the legs are thick enough, because turning that little bit of pleather is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE 🤣.) You can see that I'm anchoring my thread from the inside of the thigh, so that the tail/tie off will be hidden. Then I am centering a button at the thigh, sewing it through the body with a very long needle, and then matching up the button/thread point on the second leg prior to the final pass back through.
