5, 7, 20, 24 for aki!!
5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?
Kingdom of Welcome Addiction by IAMX, go listen to it it's so good. I also made a very simple edit of Akihiro to this song.
7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?
There's a few things but all the people who headcanon him as asexual, this reading is really great because it goes against all the sexualization and fetishization he's subjected to as a character, and it really feels so accurate to his character as well if you really dig into a lot of his early appearances. Also everyone who makes an effort to refer to him as Akihiro exclusively.
20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?
Ooooo this is a hard one. I don't really think there's ever been anyone in Akihiro's life who qualified as a "best friend," in fact it's really hard to read any of his relationships like that when they are almost all temporary relationships that he abandons or is abandoned by. I guess you could argue that Laura is the closest he's ever had to a best friend, but their relationship is very familial in nature. Honestly to me, I feel like he and Aurora could be best friends outside of their romantic relationship, even if they go through a breakup. My other thought would be Johnny, they're also obviously meant to be a romantic relationship but I think they could be best friends outside of that.
This being said though I feel like he deserves to have a best friend who he's never had any romantic attachments too, as that can be something that interferes with a relationship and especially for Akihiro. My top pick for a best friend then would probably be Lorna. I loved the way @gealach-in-a-misty-world wrote their relationship in her fanfic The Ties that Bind. I can also see potential for him and Kwannon to be friends.
24. What other character from another fandom of yours that reminds you of them?
hmmmmmm this is difficult because I don't really have a lot of other fandoms lol. You could say there are some similarities between him and Curt Wild from Velvet Goldmine, but honestly i tend to compare Curt a lot more to Kyle Gibney. One instrumental difference between Curt and Akihiro though is that Curt is a very vulnerable and emotionally open person, Aki is not at all. So I would probably say they're kind of similar on a surface level, but once you get deeper they are not similar at all.
Honestly there's probably something I'm forgetting because Aki is very much My Type as a character and I've been liking characters like him since i was younger, but I'm blanking right now on what things I've been into in the past lol. amnesia :sob:
Send me a character ask!

Colin Morgan and Bradley James: 2.01 The Curse of Cornelius Sigan commentary The "Awww, poor Colin!" edition :') Bradley: [...] Colin was eeking out every single moment. Like really milking every situation whenever something happens to Merlin. "Aw, poor Colin." So collectively the entire audience just kept going, "Awwww! AWWWWW!" like more and more. Colin: Aw. Bradley: Aw. *** Colin: That was an "aw" moment surely. Bradley: That was an "aw" moment. Both: Awwww! *laughing* Bradley: In the street we were filming...this is an example of what I have to put up with...Myself and Colin on horseback. And we had to do a scene where we had to go through a rain machine. We were completely dry before we went through it and we got on these horses. And, sort of a lot of the crew, the make-up team, and Brian, the driver, was sort of where we started, just out of shot. And we ride up, we do the scene, we get absolutely soaking wet and they go, "Cut! Come back do it again." So we have to go back. And as we're going back, Colin and I side by side on horseback, both absolutely saturated, and someone goes, I think it was Carol, went: "Aww, poor Colin!" Colin: *laughing* Bradley: ...I'm right here! I'm...I can hear what you're saying! Colin: *imitating* "Oh, Colin, are you all right?" Yeah. Um, maybe I need a towel. Just one though. Bradley: *imitating Colin in a baby voice* "I need a towel, and a hot water bottle. And somebody to dry me off, please." Bradley: Ah, Carol, could I have a towel? *imitating Carol* "No, you're fine, yeah? All right, Bradley, cool! I'll just go over to Colin!" Colin: Sounds like I might have hit a nerve there, I don't know. Were you all right after it? Bradley: *laughs loudly* *** Bradley: And this is the moment where he gets thrown into the cell and the audience just went, "Oh, I've had enough, I've had enough." It was... Both: AWWWWW! Bradley: Aw, poor Merlin!
You can listen to the commentaries HERE if you want. I'm not sure if they all still work but I'd check them out anyway! (forever thankful to gealach-ros for the uploads)

The Crows of Beara
By Julie Christine Johnson
Genre: Fiction, Climate Fiction, Eco-Lit, Women's Fiction
Along the windswept coast of Ireland, a woman discovers the landscape of her own heart
When Annie Crowe travels from Seattle to a small Irish village to promote a new copper mine, her public relations career is hanging in the balance. Struggling to overcome her troubled past and a failing marriage, Annie is eager for a chance to rebuild her life.
Yet when she arrives on the remote Beara Peninsula, Annie learns that the mine would encroach on the nesting ground of an endangered bird, the Red-billed Chough, and many in the community are fiercely protective of this wild place. Among them is Daniel Savage, a local artist battling demons of his own, who has been recruited to help block the mine.
Despite their differences, Annie and Daniel find themselves drawn toward each other, and, inexplicably, they begin to hear the same voice--a strange, distant whisper of Gaelic, like sorrow blowing in the wind.
Guided by ancient mythology and challenged by modern problems, Annie must confront the half-truths she has been sent to spread and the lies she has been telling herself. Most of all, she must open her heart to the healing power of this rugged land and its people.
Beautifully crafted with environmental themes, a lyrical Irish setting, and a touch of magical realism, The Crows of Beara is a breathtaking novel of how the nature of place encompasses everything that we are.
EXCERPT:
It took him longer than he anticipated to find a space near the gallery’s back loading door and to bring the last of his pieces inside, but when Daniel walked into the gallery, Annie was standing transfixed in front of the sculpture he’d titled Grian/Gealach—Sunrise/Sunset—her hand reaching for the delicate spheres of metal. She withdrew her hand before touching the piece, though her body leaned in still.
“Go on. It’s all right,” he said over her shoulder, removing a pair of stained and torn leather work gloves.
She seemed not to register him. Then she turned and nodded at the gloves he clutched in one hand. “Do you work here?”
“I’m delivering pieces for the installation.” He waved around the exhibit space. “We’ve set up just a few so far, but they give you an idea.”
“Is the artist a friend of yours?”

“Some days, yes. Some days I really can’t stand the sight of the bastard. But mostly we get along.” He winked and motioned her toward the sculpture. “Really, it’s meant for all the senses, not just visual. Go on.”
She drew the tip of her finger down one large round of metal. It blazed like firelight, catching the dipping sun, but the metal was cool. “It’s beautiful.”
“I like for people to handle these pieces—I want them to feel the texture and temperature of the materials.” Annie turned in surprise, but Daniel pretended not to notice. “Fingerprints leave marks and oil—that’s a good thing, at least for my work. People change my art as much as I hope it changes them.”
“I didn’t know you were an artist.”
“I do the guiding to keep a steady income coming in, but this is meant to be my day job.”
Giant parcels wrapped in quilted moving blankets leaned against the walls; only one other piece had been unwrapped, a protective cover draped over the corners. It was a tall, narrow triptych of patinated metal with a background of aquamarine. Gracing the foreground was a long hawthorn stem of leaves and berries that shimmered and waved in a silhouette of red and gold.
“This is copper,” she said in wonder. “You work with copper.”
“Copper mostly. Some bronze, chrome. I’m just starting in with glass—studying with an artist out of a cooperative here in Kenmare.”
“But, Daniel. Copper.”
“Recycled copper. I use discarded materials, from building sites mostly. Ironic, right? I don’t want the mine in my backyard, but I’m willing to exploit it nonetheless—is that what you’re thinking? I’m not so naive as to think we shouldn’t have mining.”
He pulled the cover away from the sculpture’s sharp edges and let it drop to the floor. The hawthorn was in a cow pasture where he often sat, watching for the Red-billed Chough that foraged for seeds in the manure. “But in my own way, maybe I can show that the earth’s resources aren’t ours for the taking wherever, whenever we want. Art is a way to connect people with their environment without polarizing, without politicizing. It can be used to that purpose, but it belongs to everyone. I want my art to show nature as a cultural artifact. I made a very deliberate decision to use what’s already been taken from the earth—what had been stripped from Beara’s earth more than a century ago. Maybe that is my political statement.”
At that moment, hearing the words in his own voice, speaking his heart out loud, Daniel made his decision. But it was something he needed to sit with, to form more fully on his own. And he couldn’t forget, no matter how enchanting this woman was, who she was, why their paths had crossed.

Thanks so much to @ban-dia-gealach-fitness for sharing this running motivation idea and pic. Though I started late I happened to get through 12 miles yesterday (run/walk).
Won’t be running mile each day but will be keeping track until Halloween when I do run. If I weren’t on mobile I’d edit the pic to add a little Straw Hat pirate logo on the number. So imagine a small jolly roger on number 12.
