thinking abt the "all gavins are terribly nearsighted" headcanon of mine. in my mind, the gavins have no concrete backstory bc i ain't got brain space for that pftt

If I have to look at klavier and Kristoph’s sprites next to eachother one more time I might lose it.

bc yk klav’s has nods to his brother n stuff but. He’s ‘edgier’ and his shared elements are harsher. Yet he’s not dangerous or mean, he’s (all things considered) just some dude. While kris has softer more rounded shared elements that make him feel trustworthy and safe but HE’S the dangerous one. And I GET that it’s intentional but FUCK DUDE.

I somehow had this idea.

Connor discovers the smoke smell lingering on Richard, stemming from Gavin’s smoking around them and while wearing their clothing, and asks about it, so they lie to him. Human-on-android relationships are extremely frowned upon, as are “office romances”, which is why Rich can’t just let go of their supposed smoking habits and say the truth, subsequently riding themselves deeper into trouble. They pretend to go on smoking breaks or carry around a cigarette and a lighter, but quickly realise this just isn’t enough - people never see them smoke, and they’re getting suspicious.

So they start smoking. Just for the show. Just around people, to make their story more believable. That works well, until it doesn’t and Richard one day feels the actual urge to pull on a cigarette. They think to themselves… Well, one won’t do any harm. And then, Neither will one more.

And this is how Richard became a smoker, a story that amuses Gavin to no ends but also makes him weak in the knees every time he thinks about it.

(He’s also really worried.)
