Thinking very hard about how enjoyable the swap AU Is on its own when we switch around Harry and Kim. Like it could just be left at that. Or. We go deeper. We get silly with it. We swap more than just the main two.

Why don’t we switch Soona with Plaisance and Tiago with Neha, so the bookish believer in the supra-natural thinks the crab-woman living in the rafters of a church and making dice as a tribute to the father of silence is actually some kind of ghost. She tasks Annette to help her with rituals and whatnot to contact the spirit. Soona runs a dying business selling radiocomputers and assorted technology, constantly pestered by the construction worker upstairs.

And what if we get even more silly with it? What if we switched Klaasje and Garte? The blonde bombshell working the bar hates if you call her a bartender, she is a woman who manages THREE cafeterias, and she deserves respect, god damn it. She tried to ask out her coworker, a butch redhead who normally mans the bar, but the timing was inappropriate and she scared her away. Now, she has to deal with attempting to play off the failure while managing the cafeteria on her own. The kind of schlubby guy is actually… weirdly charming, in that purple jumpsuit, smoking a cigarette. He’s used his wiles for corporate espionage, and is on the run, he’s got new passports in a buoy just off the coast, and he is very experienced at becoming a new person. No one pays attention to someone who looks like him. His natural appearance is the perfect disguise.

Let’s get more ridiculous. The Hardies and the Speedfreaks. Acele is a young woman studying to be a lawyer, her history with her father’s crimes has made her intimately familiar with the law. Which is perfect, because the group of three anti-authority vigilantes that have taken over the now-defunct union box need someone to watch their asses. A group of downtrodden men in a church seek new life through music (that's their cover story- in reality, they just want to sell speed, but through intimidation tactics, theyve kept people out of their business.)

Switch Pissfaggot and Fuck The World with Steban and Ulixes. PF and FTW run an “exclusive gang” (that they formed because the couldn’t make it as SKULLS) and basically just spout philosophical bullshit back and forth at one another, trying to bring back true punk. The Student Communist and Echo Maker have jackets that have their names on the back of them, and you can find them talking about jacking Kim’s car— you know, for communist reasons. Giving back to the proletariat.

Gaston and Rene swapping with Tommy and Call me Manana. The jolly older man sitting on the railing is part of the Union, he’s seen jams like this come and go, he’s more than used to it. The lorry driver is an ornery old guy, just wants to do his job and do it with dignity and honor— even though that job is just transporting FALN goods. Tommy and Manana are two old friends, guys who grew up together, young during the war. There’s a girl they both like, they’re passing her back and forth. Tommy wonders why Manana doesn’t just settle down with her, she clearly loves him. Manana says he can’t, he’s living the boiadero lifestyle. Or maybe there's something else that's keeping him from tying the knot...

What if we got sad with it. Lillienne and Uuno swap. And with them come their kids. Uuno is a fisherman who lost his wife, and now has to care for his rowdy son and a runaway child all on his own. You don’t learn much about Lillienne except that she’s a passed out drunk, her apartment is a mess, and her twin boys, too young to be in such a situation, are milling around behind the fence, looking at a corpse.

Who is that corpse they're looking at? His field nickname was "Idiot Doom Spiral". Across the water lock, a drunk named Lely ferments with his associates, slurring about how they used to be big shit.

More notable swaps- Goracy Kubek and the FRITTTE teen swap places, Sylvie takes Ruby's spot, I don't know how it would work, but Measurehead and the smoker swapping while the babes and sunday friend swap places as well... that one's just funny. cant do anything with it though lmfao

i watched the ep twice bc i didnt take notes the first time BUT. hsmtmts 2.04 thoughts under the cut

gina first. my favorite part of the episode was when she admitted that she feels out of place living in someone else’s house and that she wanted a bigger part in the play. i was SO worried they were gonna just let her happily sideline herself in a “yay she learned her lesson about not being the center of attention” kind of way bc i would not be able to handle that two seasons in a row. let her be angry!!! she has a lot to be upset about

the gina/carlos conflict was awful bc theyre making carlos unreasonably annoying this season. last season he was nice, he was enthusiastic, not competitive and just rooting for other people. idk why they needed to flip him so drastically to being spoiled, rich, selfish, pushy, and bitchy. and on top of that i have not been vibing with the pieces of dialogue theyve been giving him this season just to score woke points. its so unbearably obvious that even though hes a brown gay character, he was written by a white gay person who thought, on some level, that he was giving the gen z kids the #hashtag representation they wanted. his delivery of every line that screams “remember, im mexican” is so awkward, it doesnt land well, and im begging them to stop. they want so badly to commodify his character and parade him around as a “look how diverse our show is!” thing and im so so sick of it bc you can tell, with all the surface-level pieces of dialogue, that they dont actually care at all

(”look around, theres not a lot of me at this school” we GET it, this show wants to be glee so bad)

im honestly starting to slowly ship rina less and less. in season one i loved seeing someone make gina happy, especially since she had no friends before opening up to ricky. but now its just a whole mess and i wish she would love herself a lil more to realize that its not worth all this stress. he made a choice and no amount of conflicted moments of eye contact is going to fully take that back. im not necessarily against love triangle plots, but i HATE the whole “women wait around hopefully while male character, whose decisions have already hurt multiple people, makes up his mind” bullshit

that being said, gina handled the situation like a CHAMP, im dying over how quickly she was able to mask her pain and make the joke about the twix bar. im love her

we were absolutely ROBBED of an ej/big red performance this episode!!! i am at my LIMIT we better get gaston next week or i will riot

on the ej train, him not getting into duke was extremely predictable. we all kinda saw that coming and knew that would be his main point of growth this season. im glad they didnt wait super long to do it. now please @ writers i am BEGGING you to give my man more screen time than one scene per episode

its very odd that they keep making mr mazzara have emotionally tough conversations with the students. i will do a parallel gifset of those once the season ends. i liked his convo with ej for the most part, but he really didnt have to beat him over the head with the “youre an emotionless robot” thing again. its clear ej is gonna throw himself into av club or whatever (even though at the end of last season that was supposed to be big red?) and discover that he has a lot going for him. because he does, he literally has everything going for him, thats why they had to make his “problem” not knowing himself. bisexual ej caswell ftw

i love the parallels between ej and nini this episode? i think since the beginning ive felt that there was a lot about them under the surface that was similar. it was interesting seeing ej tell nini about duke first, instead of the obvious choice of ashlyn. i wouldve loved to see how that scene wouldve gone with ricky, gina, carlos, or big red though bc each reaction and attempt at comforting him wouldve been so different. i didnt love that nini had to be pulled away from the conversation, but im glad they can still talk to each other after everything that went down. and i love the juxtaposition of ej’s convo with mazzara directly following nini’s convo with miss jenn bc theyre essentially the same.

speaking of, i loved miss jenn in this episode. her stories are always so funny, but i loved seeing her care so much for nini and guide her, like a teacher. i loved how she pointed out that everyone who loves nini just wants her to be happy

im glad nini is leaving yac bc there was no good way to keep that up honestly. but im pretty annoyed that they were so obvious about it? like, they immediately made it the worst place in the world without exploring it very much. the place is super unrealistic, ive never been to drama school but im sure it wouldnt be like that. no creative arts place for KIDS would be so impossibly limiting. plus the weird bluish coloring in comparison to the nice warm tones of the rest of the show was, again, a dead giveaway. why send her to the school at all if it wasnt even gonna matter?

even though im glad nini left yac, im NOT looking forward to the way miss jenn is about to bend over backwards to put her in the play somehow. she plays obvious favorites and im so annoyed

(sidenote: nini just? decided to leave yac without consulting her parents??? ummm)

granted is a very good song, one of my faves so far

ricky deciding to tell nini he wants her to stay was stupid. what did he think that would accomplish? who in their right mind would drop out of a good school for you?

i loved when nini said yac was missing something, and miss jenn said “ricky” and nini said “you.” that was so so sweet and cute

i think the kourtney/howie thing is gonna grow on me. i hate amatonormativity so im not a big fan of them introducing a whole ass character exclusively so kourtney can have a love interest, but i loved the gesture he made of bringing her the pizzas and her flashcards. i feel like kourtneys love language is acts of service, and she was literally this meme when he did that for her:

i liked seeing ashlyn try to be there emotionally for gina! i want more of them together

overall this episode was okay. not enough songs, and i wish they were spreading out the emotional conversations through the season instead of packing them all into literally one episode, but what we did get was pretty good.

after watching the preview i see that next weeks episode is gonna be about carlos’s party, and i love party episodes. BUT i hope that after that ep we finally get an advancement on the north high stuff! i dont give too many fucks about lily, but i wanna see my son asher angel

Nuzlocke SLLD liveblog, part 3

Serpentine Gym: COMPLETE

Ah, the flowers in Serpentine Garden appear to function as tall grass. Let's start this post off by catching another team member, then, shall we?

As a refresher, I use the duplicates clause in my Nuzlockes, so we get to skip this one

Now THAT'S more like it!!

We'll see what type it is--I suspect just Grass--and maybe consider trading it for that Moonky back in time.

Oh, hhhf, it IS Fairy as well. I think i'm still more inclined to go for the Psychic-type though--not just for the type advantage at the current gym, but also because it's an uncommon early-game type in general. Sorry, Lavenseed.

I didn't take into account that he'd be a little piece of shit that ignores my orders half the time because I don't have enough badges to tame traded Pokemon

Here we are after more training. We’ll see if this is a comfortable level against the regular gym trainers before we decide if we’re ready for Donna herself.

As the sun begins its descent, bathing the town in a warm glow, we enter the first Rikoto Pokemon Gym

I’m greeted by Gym Guy, who asks, “Is this your first time in a Gym?”

That’s......... a rule that, generally, I set for myself anyway in a casual playthrough. Doesn’t feel fair to go in and Zerg rush every challenge you come across, you know?

But in a NUZLOCKE....

Shhhfffff so. Toby is going in, obviously. We can rule out Seymour and Oogie because their type disadvantages will make them much less useful. I’m going to guess there will be some Bug-types involved as well (we know one of the Pokemon on the next route is a spider) so Gaston is an easy pick, too. The question then is: do we take Lee along despite his insubordination--which could backfire on us in a spectacular way if the RNG so decides--or do we instead bring Elphaba and just try to brute force our way through without any additional type advantage?

I guess let’s see what the other trainers in the gym are packing first.

Looks like maybe three trainers to deal with. Let’s get to it

Okay, it’s resistant to Fire Fang, which makes me think it’s Poison/Rock. The “Sto-” in its name must be short for “stone”

That makes these things a little more dangerous for Toby, but luckily Ground-type moves will be 4x effective on them

Oh dear. If it’s Poison, then is its second type Water or Grass??

I didn’t plan on using all of these as strict experimental battles but I guess it’s time for another Fire Fang

... Okay, we only took 3 HP of damage in that entire gym, so I’m feeling pretty confident, but we’re still going to go in cautiously. I’ll take Lee along as my third simply because his defenses are so much higher than Elphaba’s.

Is it just me or do Poison-type gyms tend to be a family business

I messed up the screencaps but the rest of her speech is: “I’ve loved Poison-type Pokemon since I was born. They can be tough, but beautiful, too. Just like how every rose has its thorns!”

some thoughts on Beauty and the Beast

cut for spoilers

--Emma really should have worn a corset. Her costumes just looked...odd. She didn’t look bad, I doubt that’s physically possible for her. But my inner fashion historian had steam coming out of her ears. Also it looked...weirdly bunchy in places, like it didn’t fit right.

--The yellow gown didn’t offend me as much as I thought it would. It’s still underwhelming but if you think of it as a prom dress it’s quite nice.

--Her hair jewelry in that scene was on fucking point, I will say that.

--We find out how Belle’s mother died. Plague, it turns out. Why the fuck was that necessary? It was pretty dark for the tone of this movie.

--We do get an actual plague doctor though. Bird mask and everything. I’m not even kidding. That was a thing in this movie.

--Kevin Kline played Belle’s dad. I didn’t even recognize him.

--Same with Ewan MacGregor as Lumiere. I had no fucking clue that was him.

--Josh Gad is charming funny as LeFou, but why the fuck did they choose to make him canonically gay if they weren’t going to do anything with his character? (Yeah, I know, they want credit for being progressive without actually taking a risk.) Also, the gayest thing he does in the film is dance with another man at the end. This is about 30 seconds of film, if that. Yep. Half-ass representation ftw.

--Having said all that, LeFou can definitely do better than Gaston. Even Mrs. Potts said so. Yeah, that happened.

--Luke Evans is awesome as Gaston. He’s obviously having a great time and it shows.

--The talking furniture and shit wasn’t as creepy as I thought it would be.

--The original songs were quite nice. Especially ‘Forevermore’.

--A lot of the characters of color with speaking parts were the enchanted objects in the castle. I don’t have to explain why this is fucked up, right?

Omg I just had the stupidest but also funniest but also kind of cool headcanon for Gafou. Ok so I was watching Dancing With The Stars clips and I was like omg what if Gaston and Lefou went on there and no body thought they would do good but they turned out to be the freaking best team out there. And when they win they're so happy that they kiss bc it was hard to keep their feelings under control throughout the season especially during the sexy dances😉😂😂

Omg I actually love this so much-

Imagine if Adam and Belle, Lumiere and Plumette, and Stanley and Claudette (brother and sister team, Stanley being the Bimbettes’ brother headcanon ftw) were up there too.

So Adam and Belle are really good at ballroom, Lumiere and Plumette are wonderful at salsa dancing, and Stanley and Claudette do good modern dance moves. But then Gaston and Lefou go out there with a killer, perfectly rehearsed tango, (really, it’s a mystery how they got it so down pat when all the rehearsals were filled with so much sexual tension) but they’re amazing, Lefou even going so far as to hold a rose between his teeth until he passes it to Gaston by mouth at the end of the dance

The contestants and judges are shocked, because Gaston and Lefou had said they had little to no professional training (Gaston’s mother enrolled him in lessons as a young boy, but it never really went anywhere after his early teen years, and Lefou had never danced before he started practicing for this- singing was really his forte)

They win easily, and Belle literally goes up to them and gushes about how good they were and their chemistry and everything

Cause they had reeeeally good chemistry during the dance- locked, intense eye contact, near kisses if it hadn’t been for that damn rose, and touches and dips that gave the dance the perfect sensuality it needed with the song they had chosen

Lumiere and Plumette totally congratulate them on how hot it was too, and tell them blatantly how they should bang all night to celebrate their win

Gaston gets blushy because they’re completely still taping as the two tell them that, but Lefou smirks, pulling him in for a satisfying, on-screen kiss
