House Tour (not the house we wanted, but the house we have)

Fandom: Poppy Playtime.

Synopsis: Angel (referred here as "you") introduces their house to the toys after the events of the game.

"It's not much", you hurriedly tell the group. "And it's not very big, we'll have to get a bigger house as soon as possible, can't forget to immediately look for what's on sale around here".

You stop on your tracks to face the door to your house, hearing the others stop just behind you. Searching for the right key, you add:

"Also please don't mind the fact everything's a big mess, I'm more organized than that but last time I was there it was a week or so ago and I left in a rush".

"Don't apologize, Angel", Poppy replies back, as gentle as ever. "I'm sure it's not even that bad! And, look, even Kissy agrees with me! Right, Kissy?"

The taller girl mutters a quiet "hm-hm" sound.

"Nothing will ever be as bad as the factory, Angel", Dogday adds. You turn around to see Huggy still holding into the dog's poorly-adapted wheelchair, smiling in return. "Besides! You're here with us now! That alone makes things a lot better".

"You guys give me too much credit", oh, finally, you found the key! "I'm just doing what I have to. Anyone else would do the same".

"Li-ar", Mommy Long Leg's voice echoes. "No one never ever took care of Mommy when she was hurt".

"I was the one who tore your arm off, I kind of had to help".

"Li-aaaar".

You sigh, finally opening the door and stepping inside: "C'mon, everyone, it's pretty small but it should do the work for now".

You counted the toys one by one as they entered: Bunzo, PJ, Poppy and Kissy, Dogday and Huggy, a very bubbly Miss Delight guiding Catnap inside, all the mini huggies, all the mini critters, all the other mini toys, then Mommy Long Legs. More than 80 in total.

Thankfully the money you got from that case was enough to cover a house and finances and medical expenses for at least an year for every single one of you. You still didn't know how the court case against the remains of Playtime would go, but with all the evidence against them, it should be enough money for a lifetime, right? You would never be able to pay for everyone's treatment with your current job...

"Angel, dear?", Miss Delight calls. You smile, give one last look outside, and close the door. "What an interesting house you have!"

"Oh, it's nothing much", you put the keys in a small counter, taking off your jacket and throwing your bag in a corner. "Huggy, can you help put Dogday in the sofa?"

"Angel, I'm very sure I can-"

"You need to wait two weeks before you can do any big moves, don't you even think about moving yourself only using your arms again unless you want another emergency surgery, big dog", you immediately cut him off. Dogday sighed, Huggy happily offered his hands to help the big puppy. The mini critters mischievously laughed. "Same thing for every single one of you. Medical orders".

The house's clock pointed at 8:44 PM. It wasn't late, thankfully.

The toys all gathered around the living room, curiously staring and exploring its corners. Someone - Bunzo, maybe? - had entered the kitchen, probably just wanting to take a good look at this new weird place. You decided to let them be, turning the TV on and trying to pick up a channel:

"So, uhm", you mutter. "This is the TV. Didn't change much since '95 except for maybe image quality. We now use CDs and DVDs instead of just cassette tapes, but I'll show that to you guys later. You can grab anything from the kitchen, I don't mind".

You blinked, hearing the sound of your Windows XP computer turning on. Somehow, PJ Pug-a-Pillar had figured out how to use it. You would be proud if not a bit worried:

"You found the computer", you announce to the group. "Okay. Don't mess up too much with that thing, I need it to work. I'll show you guys how to use the internet later, I think you would like it".

Long Legs decided to sit next to the TV, stretching her neck so she could watch it better. The mini critters seemed to really like her, as they still haven't let go of her arm.

"Angel, do you think the news are all still about us?", the spider doll asks.

"Well..."

You sit on the floor so Dogday can see the TV from the sofa. Bunzo immediately jumps to your lap, making himself comfortable. You pet him as images of the abandoned factory covered with cops and investigators appear, headline written as "PLAYTIME CO. INVESTIGATION STILL UNGOING".

You sigh. Bunzo seems to look up at you, confused.

"Is that a good or a bad thing?", his ears move. You stop petting him.

"It's not good nor bad. If the news aren't screaming how the investigation found out how you guys were made, then we can assume the Prototype is doing a good job".

"He always did".

Everyone, including you, turns to stare at Catnap. He decided to sit next to the sofa, lying his back against the wall. The ceiling was too low for him to be comfortable like that...

"Mommy cannot agree with you", Long Legs groans. "Would you want to know hy?"

The feline simply stares uncomfortably at the pink toy. She rolls her eyes, muttering something about him denying the evidence before turning her attention back at the tv. You're glad these two didn't get into a fight again, but you still don't feel comfortable. Most of the bigger toys are sitting on the floor, with the smaller ones either using Kissy, Miss Delight and Dogday or the sofa as a sitting spot.

The images in the TV then cut to you, eye bags and all, staring at the camera and politely answering a question.

"Look!", Bunzo points. "It's mom!"

"I'm not your... Nevermind", you put some of your hair behind your ear. The you in the TV keeps talking:

"No, I didn't see any guards or cops when I came in there", you shake your head, tired.

"No security at all?"

"I mean, the factory is full of weird machines you need to use a thing called a 'grabpack' to make them work, but there wasn't anyone who stopped me from grabbing one and going inside. I bet even a child could have gotten themself trapped in there from how lonely things were outside..."

"Do you think one of the monsters escaped the factory before?"

"The toys, is that what you mean?"

Your eyes finally showed some light as you bit back at the word choice. You lifted your head, now more determined than before:

"If any of them escaped, they are either dead or locked away somewhere by whoever knew about what Playtime was doing. Or do you really think these kids wanted to stay inside that prison? They were fighting each other over what to eat, for God's sake!"

"Angel...", Poppy muttered. "You didn't tell anyone about the..."

"Cannibalism? Hel- heck no. You guys will be regarded as monsters by a lot of people if i do that. Until things calm down, no one outside the investigators of our case will know".

You decide to get up from your spot, much to Bunzo's dismay. You pet his head before stretching yourself, hearing some bones pop:

"The kitchen is right there. Bathroom is there, and my room is there. I don't think there's any clothes good enough for you guys, but we'll see. You must be hungry, right?"

You step into the kitchen, followed by some of the toys and Long Leg's head stretching head. Miss Delight excitedly walks close to you as you look for what you have.

"Well...", you mutter. "I have some snacks and food, but not enough for all of us. Maybe we should get some pizza today, and tomorrow I'll rush to the grocery store".

"... Pizza?", Bunzo asks in the big toy pile that formed at the kitchen's entrance, his head between the smaller huggies. "What's that?"

"It's an italian dish made from bread dough and topped with plenty of ingredients!", Miss Delight answers in her cheerful tone before turning to face you: "But... You have pizza, Angel?"

"No, but I can just ask someone to deliver to us. I have the money", you grab the kitchen's telephone, searching in the drawers for the number of that one very good pizza place your friend worked at. "Since no one here ever ate a pizza I'll just ask for five of each flavor. Might do the job, seeing how many of us are in there..."

You turn, lying against the kitchen's corner, only to realize that everyone was staring at you. Even Catnap had gotten out of his spot, curiously watching, and you could see Dogday's head as he was trying to take a good look at what was going on.

"You guys can explore the house, y'know. It's our house now, not mine", you tell the group, going back to the living room, telephone in hand so the poor giant puppy could be included. Another door was opened, and the mini critters and huggies were now conquering your bedroom. Good for them.

You sat on the floor again. Bunzo proclaimed your lap, and Poppy decided to also sit next to you.

"I don't have to eat, Angel", the doll told you, watching TV. "Prioritize the others, alright?"

"Neither do I!", Dogday replied. "I ate at the hospital, don't worry about me".

You roll your eyes and pet Poppy's head. "I know you don't have to eat, doll, but you, young sir, have to eat. A freaking lot, actually! Didn't I tell you guys food isn't a limited supply anymore?"

A mini critter screamed and something was knocked over. Long Legs immediately got out of her spot, coming out of your room with a mini craftycorn trying to chew on a blanket.

Dogday, however, was whimpering. He lowered his head and fidgeted with his hands: "Are you sure? You did so much for us, Angel..."

"And I'll do even more. I'll be your legal guardian if everything goes well, remember?"

"But..."

Catnap then "accidentally" bumped his tail against Dogday's face. The pup's eyes widened, and you laughed at how offended he looked. The feline pretended to watch television as Dogday stared at him.

"Catnap!"

"I didn't do anything this time".

Now the pup was looking at you for answers. Poppy was laughing as well, all the while Catnap's tail kept bumping into Dogday.

"Listen to what the Angel has to say", he simply told him. "And eat".

You were smiling. Never in a thousand years did you think your life would become this weird, but you were glad it was like this nonetheless.

Then you realized something, and crossed your arms:

"Catnap, you do realize you'll also have to eat a lot instead of giving your food to the mini critters, right?"

The feline's tail stopped moving.

"What".

Japanese Period

1. Julian Cruz Balmaceda

Julián Cruz Balmaceda, sometimes written Balmaseda, was a Filipino poet, essayist, playwright, novelist, journalist, and linguist who lived from January 28, 1885, to September 18, 1947. He produced a number of works in Spanish, English, and Filipino.

2. Jose Ma. Hernandez

Both a writer and a teacher, Jose Maria Hernandez. In America, he pursued acting and writing studies. His most well-known piece is the three-act historical drama Panday Pira.

the other plays Jose Ma wrote. Night Wind, Sunrise in the Farm, The Empty House, Prelude to Dapitan, and White Sunday are some of the plays by Hernandez that are based on the Bible.

The play White Sunday took home the literary Palanca Memorial Award.

Philippine Literature Period

1. Jose Carcia Villa

Jose Garca Villa was a Filipino poet, literary critic, short story writer, and painter who lived from August 5, 1908, to February 7, 1997. He was given the National Artist of the Philippines title for literature in 1973[2][3] and the Guggenheim Fellowship in creative writing by Conrad Aiken[4]. He is credited with introducing the "reversed consonance rhyme scheme" in poetry writing as well as the extensive use of punctuation, particularly commas, which earned him the moniker "Comma Poet"[5]. He wrote under the pen name Doveglion (derived from "Dove, Eagle, Lion") Another poet, E, also looked into these creatures. Villa is honored in the poem "Doveglion, Adventures in Value" by E. Cummings.[3]

2. Rodolfo Dato

Bicolano poet and educator Rodolfo Guevarra Dato. He produced tunes with an English sound. He became the dean of the University of Nueva Caceres and is Luis Dato's elder brother. He also published essays on Bikolnon culture. He compiled and edited Filipino Poetry, one of the most well-known anthologies of English poets, in 1924.

The New Society

1. Anciento Silvestre

Despite not having received any formal training in writing, he was still able to produce beautiful poems, short stories, novels, and essays that contributed to the literature of the Philippines.

Eight categories in which his poems are categorized are found in the Nature collection: Free, Moving, Image of Life, Pulse of Love, Strong of Faith, Sign of Hope, Open to the Path of Greatness, and Blood in the Light of Sun.

Aniceto F. Silvestre won four First Prizes for his poetry before the war, a Third Prize for his work while under the Commonwealth government, a First Prize in the tenth year of the Republic of the Philippines, and a First Prize at the 1969 Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature.

The Period of Third Republic Philippines Literature (1965-1972)

1. N.V.M. Gonzalez

Gonzalez was a novelist and short story writer who is considered one of the pioneers of modern Philippine literature. His works often dealt with rural life and the struggles of the working class, and he was known for his vivid descriptions and lyrical prose. Gonzalez's contribution to Philippine literature was in his portrayal of the everyday lives of ordinary Filipinos, and his use of vernacular language and local settings in his writing.

2. F. Sionil Jose

Jose was a novelist and journalist who is known for his epic historical novels that explore Philippine society and politics. FRANCISCO ARCELLANA

SHORT BIOGRAPHY:

On September 6, 1916, Francisco Arcellana was born. Early in his boyhood, he already had aspirations of being a writer. However, he didn't begin writing seriously until he joined The Torres Torch Organization in his senior year of high school. At the University of the Philippines Diliman, Arcellana persisted in writing for a number of academic publications. Later, he was awarded a Rockefeller Grant, and from 1956 to 1957, he participated in the Breadloaf Writers' Conference and was a fellow in creative writing at the University of Iowa.

CONTRIBUTION:

He is regarded as a significant founder of the contemporary Filipino short story in English. Arcellana is credited with helping Filipino literature develop the short tale as a lyrical prose-poetic genre. Nowadays, his works are frequently covered in tertiary-level Philippine curricula.

Chila Lynn

Chila Lynn is a popular singer who was born in Havana. After studying classical piano and music over eight years at the Manuel Saumell School, where she finished her basic level studies, she was only three years old when she enrolled in the Alejandro Garca Caturla Elementary School of Music. She started writing his first songs as a youngster and won several honors in musical contests.

She enrolled at upper middle school Amadeo Roldán in 2005, and there she excelled in piano and music contests, taking home top honors and awards. Princess Tiana was voiced by Later, who sang Randy Newman songs in the Walt Disney film Tiana and the Toad. While preparing for the release of her first album, Real Woman, Chila Lynn finished her studies at the National Superior Conservatory of Music and Dance at the University of La Sorbonne in Paris.

Take part in singing the songs in which "Tiana," the Disney princess who stars in the 2010 Spanish edition of Tiana and the Toad, is heard. Pink, Jamie Scott, and James Morrison all contributed songs to her first album, Real Woman, which was released in 2012. The most significant musical influences on Chila Lynn are Mary J. Blige, Nina Simone, Alicia Keys, and Aretha Franklin.

The songs on Chila Lynn's first album are framed in the soul-pop of black American origins, a style that can only be performed by musicians with the musical prowess of Chila, who has an excellent voice and an interpretational ability that astounds given her young age. With the present and a Motown undercurrent, Chila Lynn's music transports listeners to a more affluent period when value reigns supreme and the future seems bright.

Girlfriend

So I started writing this while I was high last night and listened to Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne on repeat for far too long. I’m also in love with Lesbian Icon™ Emily Prentiss and I need more fics of her so here’s mine!

Emily Prentiss x Fem!Reader

Summary: Garcia takes matters into her own hands to get her two favorite people together.

Fluff

It was one of those days. The days where all you wanted to do was strangle the next thing that crossed your path. You took long strides towards Garca’s layer, wanting to be surrounded by all cute and innocent.

“Hey, girly! What brings you to my side of town?” Garcia turned around in her chair. You smiled at her.

“Oh, I just wanted to see my favorite hacker.” You grabbed a stress ball off her desk, squeezing it. Garcia looked you over and knew instantly something was off.

“Okay, spill,” She placed her hand on my knee. “I can see something’s bothering you.”

“Emily’s mid life crisis girlfriend is here.” It was no secret that you did not like the new person Emily was dating, except maybe her. You two were best friends since she joined the BAU and even after everything that happened, you were always there for her. “I can’t tell her, ‘hey your college drop out girlfriend is just using you for money’. Besides, isn't it a little weird that she’s like twice her age?” You were rambling just letting it out. “It’s like she doesn’t have time for me anymore. She blew me off three times now for drinks. She said that since Darla doesn’t drink she didn’t want to and when I suggested something else she declined!”

Garcia sighed, getting up and walking over to hug you. “Hey, Little Miss, she’s going through a tough time.”

“I know and I just don’t want Darla hurting her even more.”

Garcia pulled back looking at you directly in your eyes. You had to look away from the sheer intensity of the look.

“Oh, my god,” Garcia squealed. “You like her!”

“What? No!” You lied.

“Nuh, nuh.” Garcia pointed a finger at you. “You should tell her!”

“She’s dating someone!”

“It’s a temporary mid life girlfriend, you said so yourself.” Garcia pulled on your arm, an idea forming in her head.

“Everyone!” She shouted in the bullpen gaining everyone’s attention. “We are all going out for drinks tonight! I miss everybody! No excuses.”

“Can I bring Savannah?” Morgan asked. Garcia nodded, smiling. She turned to you winking and leaving you to finish your paperwork while trying to ignore the ditsy comments made by Darla.

Everyone was filing out of the office and soon just you, Emily, and Spencer were left. You were finishing the last file, getting ready to leave.

“You coming tonight?” You asked Emily as you passed her desk to give Hotch the last file. She looked up at you, biting her lip. You stared at her lips wondering what they would feel like on yours.

“I don’t know, Darla doesn-”

“Drink, I know.” You finished her sentence. “Just because she doesn’t, does not mean you can’t. Besides do you want to get on Garcia’s bad side?” You walked away saying a good night to Hotch grabbing your things.

“Spencer? Do you need a ride?” He was pulling his satchel over his body looking up at you.

“Yes, that would be great!” You left with him giving Emily a ‘make sure you're there’ look before stepping onto the elevator.

The ride was quiet except for the classical music playing. You had been giving Spencer rides to and from work ever since you moved apartments. You decided to buy some CDs which in turn made Spencer really happy. The first day you played it, he rattled off facts the entire way to work. You loved Spencer. He was the one person you could count on for anything. You two even tried the whole dating thing, but the two of you were just too different mutually deciding to stay friends. Before getting out of the car, you grabbed your go bag, pulling out a shirt that was more open and loose.

You arrived at the same time as Derek and Savannah which was surprising since he left two hours before you.

You were five shots in and on your second margarita when Emily finally arrived. Garcia had forced JJ to sing a song with her already and Derek was up there singing to Savannah. You smiled and clapped, the drinks starting to make you tipsy.

“Ahhh, Emily, you made it!!” Garcia yelled. She was a lot drunker than you. Spencer was holding on to her, making sure she didn’t fall over. Spencer was still sipping on his first drink and he told you that he would be driving you home. He had to fight you for the keys in your hand, but they were now securely in his pocket.

“Y/n! It’s your turn!” Garcia pointed as Derek finished his song giving Savannah a peck on the lips.

“What?!”

“I put you on the list!” Your name was announced while you were arguing and when the song she had chosen popped up, you glared at her.

Emily had ordered a few drinks and was sitting at the bar stool watching you. She smiled encouragingly at you knowing that you had slight stage fright. Maybe it was the fact that you were drunk, or maybe the song choice, but you started singing gaining confidence as time went on.

You had avoided looking at any of your friends, but at that last line you looked at Emily. She was watching your every move, something in her eyes you couldn’t see. You got bolder, keeping eye contact as the song progressed.

You started dancing, making facial expressions, loosening up, rolling your eyes, spinning in a circle. You started having fun knowing that even if Emily doesn’t understand that you are talking to her, you had said your feelings out loud.

You moved closer to the edge of the stage all of your friends had gotten closer to the stage. You grabbed the drink from Emily’s hand, finishing it in one swing and giving it back. You let your hand play with her hair before stepping back.

You spun your finger in a circle in your hair as your voice got louder. You forgot that you were singing in a crowded bar, your eyes only remaining on Emily who had been leaning forward the entire time. Now that she was closer you could see the desire in her eyes as the two of you looked at one another. As you finished the song you started breathing heavily. The bar erupted in shouts and claps, bringing you out of the trance you were in. Blushing you stumbled off the stage, Spencer catching you as you almost fell.

“Dance with me?” Emily’s voice was right next to you, having replaced Spencer. Your head was spinning as your nostrils were filled with her smell. You nodded your head as the next song that was played was a slow song. You wrapped your arms around her neck, resting your head on her shoulder as she wrapped her arms around your waist. Your shirt had ridden up, meaning Emily’s arms were in direct contact with your skin. Her skin was cool compared yours. You closed your eyes getting lost in the song and her scent. You knew if you got rejected, you would just pretend you didn’t remember anything the next day.

“Your voice is really good.” She whispered. You were slowly saying back and forth. You hummed in response, the words barely registering in your mind. You felt her laugh more than hearing it. “How much did you drink?”

“Enough to get up on a stage and sing.” You were slurring your words. After a while, you heard voices behind you, but couldn’t make out what they were saying. You weren’t sure how much time had passed, but soon you were being led outside. Through the blurry mist, you could see Emily as clear as day, everything else blurring into the background. It wasn’t until the cold outside air hit you that you sobered up a bit. You looked around.

“Hey, someone stole my car!” You started walking towards where you parked when you were pulled back.

“Y/n, Spencer drove it home.”

“He left without me? That’s not nice.” You pouted turning around facing Emily. You giggled, a blush running up your face. “You’re really pretty.” You booped her nose watching her get flustered.

“Thanks, you are too.”

“How am I going to get home?” You looked down at your intertwined hands.

“I’m going to take you to mine, and then drop you off at Spencer’s so you can pick your car up tomorrow.”

“What about Darla?” Her name was said with such disdain, you surprised yourself.

“We, uh, broke up today.” Your mouth formed an ‘o’ shape. You bit your lip, stepping forward.

“So does that mean,” You waited until she was up against the wall before placing your hands on either side of her face. “I can do this?” You kissed her, gently at first, giving her the opportunity to pull away, but when her arms grabbed your waist, pulling you closer, you moved your hands to her hair, pulling softly.

A quiet hum came out of her mouth and her hands slipped under your shirt, her thumb brushing under your bra.

“OOOOooo, damn!” You pulled apart quickly looking towards the entrance of the bar where Derek, Savannah, and Garcia had come out. You both blushed, turning away from each other. Derek came over wrapping your jacket around your shoulders as he rubbed your shoulders. “Take good care of this one Prentiss.” He winked pulling Garcia into the car while she cooed at how cute the two of were together.

“So, you really didn’t like Darla?” Emily asked, a smile on her lips. You looked over at her before slowly shaking your head.

“Honestly,” You started, gauging her reaction. “She didn’t deserve you. She always had this blank face whenever you talked like she had no idea what you were saying. And she never drank,” You continued talking, drunk rambling at this point while she pulled you into her car. She buckled you up watching you struggling. “Like unless she’s a recovering addict or like it’s a religious thing, what’s up with that? She was like what 22? What 22 year old doesn’t drink.”

Emily leaned over the console giving you a quick peck on the lips. “If this is going to work between us, you can’t talk about my exes.”

“Deal.”

You stare at your old nokia phone as the ambulance ride goes. You hear the nurses wrapping proper bandages around Kissy's scratched arm, the big toy trying to be as calm as possible. Poppy encouraged her, clapping her tiny hands to signal that Kissy did an excellent job. You smiled and nodded, trying to ignore the police chief sitting right next to you.

He was quietly reading the documentation you brought from the deeper parts of Playtime Co. You thought about thanking the Prototype for coming up with the idea, then went back to staring at your phone.

Finally, you dialed your mother's number, each beep making you more anxious than the last. Then, finally...

"MY SWEET ANGEL!", she screamed in portuguese in the other side of the line. "Where have you been?! You dissapeared for a whole week, what happened?"

Poppy stared at you, hearing your mother's screams.

"Well, mom...", you muttered, also in portuguese. "It's, uh... Complicated".

"Oh, I bet it is! Where have you been?"

You made a funny face, nervous. "Remember when I worked at Playtime Co...? I received a letter and, uh, decided to visit the factory. Got trapped inside".

"For a week?"

"For a week", you confirm. "... You said you wanted grandchildren, right?"

"What does that have to do with this? Are you hurt? Where are you?"

"Mom, answer the question".

You could feel her rolling her eyes in the other line: "You know well I do, but your brother already gave us two".

Poppy's eyes started to become teary. The chief right next to you gave you a strange look before re-reading the document in his hands, baffled. Maybe he was going to vomit again? Or maybe he thought you were going mad. It didn't matter much now.

"... Angel", your mother called. "What were they doing there?"

"They were abandoned. Left to die. I think most of them were starving before I arrived", you continued. "They're pretty hurt. I know one is going to have urgent surgery. I don't know how much I can tell you, the cops are also here and I, uhm, don't know what needs to be kept a secret or not. Can you and dad just please come over the hospital and help me a bit?"

Your voice was weak, and you stopped looking at Poppy as reality sank around you. God, they were all just children. Your kids now, you guessed, but you would rather have never met them if it meant they would have never become toys in the first place.

"We're already heading over there", your mother firmly told you. "You hang in there, I'm calling your brother and aunt".

"Let me call him", you asked. "You call aunt before she kills me for dissapearing".

You waited. Your mom did as well.

"I'm glad it's not", you could hear someone else in the line. Your mother sighed. "We'll talk more later, okay? I love you. Please don't die while we're on our way there".

"Angel".

"Fine, mom. An ugly vase is hard to break, remember? See you soon. Bye".

You put your phone aside. Poppy's gaze had never left you, and now Kissy was waiting for what you were going to say as well. The two nurses were still working on patching her up as you gently put Poppy on your lap.

"Angel", she called. "Did you just refer to us as your children?"

"I wasn't lying", you quickly answer. "And didn't you just call me dad a few moments ago?"

"I-I... I did".

The doll gives you a hug, and you give one back before gently swiping off the tears forming in the corners of her too-realistic eyes. "Look, Pop, I'm never going to be a good parent for either one of you. I'm all grumpy and hopeless, and you need better than that. But I did promise I would do my best, and that's what I'll try to do. You don't have to pretend to be my daughter, anyways. I'll just be your legal guardian".

"...", was her response, before she readjusted herself to be more comfy on your lap. "I think I prefer having you as my parent rather than just a guardian, Angel. But it's not fair. I already took too many of your choices away from you, I-I don't want this to just be another one of them".

"Shoosh, Pop", you pat her head. "I made that choice long before you tried to stop me from talking to the Prototype. I'll be here to bother you and the others for as long as possible".

Poppy giggled, closing her still teary eyes.

"I'm glad, then", she mutters, ignoring the confused cop sitting next to you. "That you chose to be our... Parent".

You smile, and she understands you're glad as well.

"Now, go to back to sleep. I'll wake you up when we arrive at the hospital", you eye Kissy. "Or if your sister needs some encouragement".

The bigger toy's smile seems to be genuine.

Not Tommy Fleetwood, sadly, after his collapse in the singles left him with just the four wins with Francesco Molinari. Jon Rahm was a strong candidate, holding off the flickering challenge of Tiger Woods on Sunday. But Justin Thomass fourth point after a dog fight with Rory McIlroy left the most lasting impression of the new boys. KM

Tommy Fleetwood. For his record rookie haul, but also for his burgeoning bromance with Molinari. Europe loves a double-act: Seve and Ollie, Faldo and Monty, G-Mac and Wee Mac. Hooray for Moliwood! SM

Ian Poulter isnt to everyones tastes but his prolonged and adrenalised chest-beating after defeating Dustin Johnson in the singles will live long in the memory. SI

Tommy Fleetwood has a symbiosis with the fans that is unforced and infectious. Even in defeat he was as ebullient as ever, the sign of a great team player, and embraced the fans with his trademark wide-legged squat. The man with the longest hair in golf also has the longest laugh. KM

Justin Thomas shushed and ear-cupped the crowd at 11 on Saturday afternoon, after which he almost seemed to be plotting a reverse takeover of Captain America Industries (CEO Patrick Reed). The gallery-baiting uniform suits him; he was indestructible after that. SM

Best match

Justin Rose/Jon Rahm v Tony Finau/Brooks Koepka. The first game of the event and the epitome of matchplay. Europe held an apparently decisive lead before Finau enjoyed an outrageous break on the 16th and Rose found water at the last. The US claimed the point. Breathtaking stuff. EM

Justin Thomass 1-up win over his great mate Rory McIlroy on Sunday, an 18-hole duel which twisted and turned one way then the other and back again. AB

A tough one to call but lets say Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth against Ian Poulter and Jon Rahm given I followed it from inside the ropes. The match swung this way and that with seven birdies to Europe and 10 to the US team. SI

There were many to pick from, but for sheer tension and importance the lead singles on Sunday between Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas was hard to beat. Both made mistakes, both fought for every point all the way to the end which was tragic for McIlroy when he plugged into a bunker on the 18th when all square. And Thomas was magnanimous in victory to cap off a fine, fighting win. KM

In a parallel universe, Alex Norn v Bryson DeChambeau decides everything. DeChambeau seals it for the US by wedging to 18 inches! No! Norn steals it for Europe with a 40-foot rake! Everyone piles on! Ah well, for a match that meant nothing in the real world it wasnt too bad as it was, given its wild denouement will come to visually define this victory. SM

Funniest moment

Im lost, Im sorry Justin Thomas is completely unaware his father is writing a Ryder Cup diary for a newspaper in Kentucky as he is asked in a press conference whether there is shame attached to a sportswriter in the family. Am I missing something? EM

During their final press conference Jordan Spieth teased Tiger Woods about his habit of using military lingo. Woods, who had tuned out, blanked him. Spieth waited a beat then said: Good talk, Tiger. AB

Bubba Watson and Webb Simpson making a treble-bogey six to halve the par-three 2nd against Sergio Garca and Alex Norn during the Saturday foursomes. Incredibly, Watson and Norn and then Webb all went into the water yet the Europeans missed two putts for the hole. SI

By a distance the European teams calling out at their press conference of the stunningly self-regarding American golf writer who had predicted their downfall in apocalyptic terms. He will go unnamed here (which will irk him) but he took his licks then rushed to social media to glory in his instant fame. Donald Trump has more self-awareness than this comedian. KM

Patrick Reed playfully shushing the crowd after beating Tyrrell Hatton. The Masters champion cant catch a break whatever he does, but hopefully this self-deprecating callback followed by genuine applause for the gallery and warm congratulations for Europe wins him some new fans. SM

In 2020 Europe will…

Be well served by keeping Thomas Bjrn as part of the Ryder Cup fold. His captaincy was outstanding. EM

Lose to a US team built around Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth and a rejuvenated Patrick Reed on a course set up to play to the Americans strengths. AB

Its too early to say, but they must have a chance of holding on to the Ryder Cup given its being played on the rugged links of Whistling Straits, a course that suits them more than Hazeltine did in 2016. SI

Be even stronger, with the steady maturing of Jon Rahm and Tommy Fleetwood. With any luck, Francesco Molinari will be there to reach for a fourth Ryder Cup triumph, and maybe by then Rory McIlroy has sorted out his putting woes. KM

Poet’s Pacific paradise: Pablo Neruda’s homes in Chile

As a brand-new cinema about Pablo Neruda gets a UK release, we call two of the Pacific-facing dwellings where the poet found inspiration: beachside Isla Negra and the crazy port of Valparaso

If we march up and down all the stairs of Valparaso well have walked all round the world. Poet Pablo Neruda was alluding to the cosmopolitan vigor of Chiles second metropoli, premier port and more romantic and likeable metropolis. He might also have been referring to the workout you get hiking around Valpo as locals dub it. Spread over 42 mounds, its manors, rooms, shanties and steep, cobbled streets are a sea-facing sprawl. When you get lost and hot, its a succour to stumble on one of the four ascensores funicular heaves which cut out some of the climbing.

Id been to Valpo before, to devour ceviche and experience fine wine-coloureds from the nearby Casablanca valley, but this time I chiefly wanted to explore the relationship between the city and Chiles Nobel prize-winning poet. A new film, Neruda, starring Luis Gnecco and Gael Garca Bernal, goes on general UK release on 7 April. That and a brand-new direct flight this year from Heathrow to Santiago international airport( an hour or so from Valparaso) is bound to revive interest in Chiles second city.

I began my mini-pilgrimage 84 km south of Valparaso, at Isla Negra. This is not an island at all, but a stunning beach spot where, in 1944, Neruda started building a house where he had been able to work on his masterpiece, Canto General, and throw defendants. It took two inventors, with their demanding purchaser advising, around 20 times to ended the house. Neruda jaunted around Chile and overseas as senator and producing communist party member. He was also exiled for several years in Buenos Aires and Mexico. But, as Neruda put it: The live preserved growing, like people, like trees.
