TRADITIONAL DOOBLES!!

im not too big on here so i doubt i'll have many people who care to see or read this but. okay,,, i can't get these out of my head so i decided to whoopty-doo and post all my old to newest paper art of the arcana!! majority of these are old and just my apprentice, Andrea, and Julian with occasional Asra so i am so sorry if you wanna see other characters (which i have drawn others so please lmk if you wanna see them!!) and what better than to post a shit ton of these drawings and then explain some (because you'll probably need it)

buckle up because these a lot to unload.

my first ever time drawing our beloved leech doctor!! (what a sight he is...) and my first ever creation of Andrea! see, Andrea started out majorly as another self insert persona, but then developed his own personality and individual structure. Andrea has never changed design over the months of having him, but his overall vibe has been tweeked, he's no longer as outgoing and awkward (well, he's still awkward, just much less sheepish) and more reserved and.... just. quieter (for the most part)

more funny haha Juliandy!! ft. some cute comics with Asra! at the time i was torn between Julian and Asra so i casually shipped Andrea with both, seeing as i was newer but over time, Julian inevitably sweeped me off my feet and i ended up adoring him. but! i do have a separate self insert MC for him as well 😭 more on him in another post. also! featuring the super cringe biologically impossible ship child i gave them! Dianna P. Devorak! its just a small dooble but i might post more of her if any of the void (you guys) is interested!!

small interactions with my friend's MCs!! meet (first one) Auster!! and (second one) Harper! i love them dearly!!

i remember making this while going stir crazy listening to lana del ray in my history class. i was so proud of it. i've come far!!

OC Intro: Family Edition - Part: 4

If you've been around since at least October, you might have had this character spoiled for you a little bit in this post, but not to worry, this is like, first chapter info, it's not THAT much of a spoiler in story. This the late Theresa Moore as she looked at seventeen, around the time when she first met Derek, and later when she had just turned 27.

Note: Theresa is a newer character of mine that I’m still developing, but here’s what I’ve got for her so far.

Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, as the youngest of three sisters, to a preacher father, doting mother, Theresa had a pretty standard and uneventful life up until she and her family moved over to the suburbs of Chicago for a fresh start. While her father— now deconstructed and ousted from their old denomination— was busy taking over the service for a late preacher friend’s non-denominational church, Theresa was hard at work finding her own way as a first-time public-school student, and she did not fare well at first.

With Theresa being surrounded by tons of new people of different social groups, subcultures, and interests made her realize just how sheltered and “dull” she was in comparison to her peers, and she hated how little she felt she had in common with them. She didn’t listen to any cool, secular music, she couldn’t keep up with conversations on the latest trends, movies, or even last night’s TV shows. Hell, she had only just convinced her mom to let her buy her first pair of skinny jeans, she couldn’t help but feel like she had some major catching up to do. So, on she went on her quest for reinvention, she joined her high school’s art club, where she began to experiment with mixed-media decoupage collages, incorporating the little pressed flowers she grew up making as a kid from the flowers her mother grew in their garden, which she led to her making a bit of a name for herself as the girl who sold cute little floral bookmarks and beaded keychains from her locker.

For a while, she would use the money she earned from selling her crafts to buy a magazine or two, to study what the cool kids where like, a novel practice, which introduced her to a world of new bands and interesting fashions that she began to aspire towards. One subculture that really peaked her interest was that of the skateboarders on campus. There were about a dozen of them that would hangout on the far side of the parking lot before and after school, and she always liked the idea of one day joining them, even though she couldn’t skate herself. They always seemed so at peace with the world in a way she admired, just sitting outside, listening to their little boombox, as they sat on their boards, talking to one another, and enjoying their time together. She never had the guts to do it though, she didn’t want to be seen as any more of a poser than she already felt she was, and she had a feeling they would sniff out her desperation for friends at that point in time. It didn’t help that there was one boy in the group that she just couldn’t take her eye off of, and she just knew if any of them saw her stealing a glance at him for too long, they would probably thing she’s a weirdo. Little did she know, she had already caught his eye just being her little old self, and that his friends (mostly André) had been psyching him up for months to go talk to her, after having to put up with him constantly talking about how cute he thought she was.

As she got to know him, and realized just how sweet and courteous he was as a person, she began to find herself feeling the “temptations” her old church was always warning her about, but she found herself oddly comfortable veering into the taboo. Fast forward six months into their relationship, and Theresa discovers she’s pregnant, and all hell broke loose when her parents found out. They wanted her to keep the baby and for Derek to marry her “to keep her honest,” but she didn’t want that. She liked Derek, but she did not want to have a baby, at least not then, she had only just turned seventeen. Derek and his parents were on her side, but her parents got their way in the end following several heated disputes between them and the Moore’s.

After their small, backyard wedding and the difficult birth of their daughter, Angelica, Theresa fell into a deep depression, forcing her to drop out of the school during the second half of her senior year. Derek did his best to support her on his own for as long as he could, opting not to go to college himself and go straight to work, but after a couple of years… he knew they needed serious help. Following his mom’s advice, he was able to convince Theresa to go to couples therapy with him, which really helped her turn a new leaf. She began to distance herself from her parents, which helped her heal without any further judgement from them, she took night classes to earn her GED, and later a bachelor’s business. She fell back in love with growing flowers in her garden and crafting flower arrangements, which inspired her to start a little florist shop with a few friends she met at night school. She accomplished so much for herself in her last five years, and life was good until the very end.

what sort of gemsona would you assign me 🙈

HULLO! OMG I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY *cracks knuckles*

***Long post warning, lots of info-dumping ahead. TL;DR answers at the bottom

I have SEVERAL ideas, so at least you have plenty of options/inspiration! I'll include both the gem itself along with any appearances that are canon to SU to give you reference. We'll start where I feel like a lot of people (myself included) start: with your birthstone(s), Ruby & Onyx!

July birthstones are traditionally Ruby, but these days most months have a 2nd stone. So you could choose traditional Ruby or the newer Onyx! (unfortunately there are no canon Onyxes in SU that I'm aware of) Rubies in-show are common soldiers used as a lighter personal guard or for quick low-level missions. They're short, coming in at around 4ft tall. Their personalities vary, but some traits we see repeatedly in the show are that Rubies get distracted easy, are often forgetful, fairly naive/easily deceived, stubborn, rowdy, goofy, a bit hot-headed & loyal to a fault! The Rubies below are all wearing similar/same Homeworld uniforms, but even so you can tell all of them apart, either by gem placement, certain accessories, variants in their outfits/hair color/skin color, or by their personalities!

Next are gems that have canon concepts/appearances that fit your vibe: Starting out strong with Sapphire!

Sapphires are what we would consider Royalty & closely resemble Princesses. They're one of Homeworld's Aristocratic Gem types, used mainly for diplomatic affairs or for their Future Vision, an ability that allows them to see the most probable outcome of a situation. As far as I know, its assumed that all Sapphires have this foresight, but it can vary, like how Padparadscha can only see what was, not what will be (though her variance is caused by being off-color, a term used to describe Gems that differ from the Mould Homeworld has for them). Sapphires are the same height as Rubies (around 4ft) & personality-wise tend to be more reserved, quiet, thoughtful, introspective & have a diplomatic way of looking at things. They tend to be more compassionate than most Gems of their status & their Future Vision helps them easily draw conclusions or make plans/decisions.

Morganite:

Not much is know about Morganite in-universe, since she never had a canon appearance beside her concepts in the art book. The little bit we do know about Morganite is that she was the Owner of the Ruby & Pearl that make Rhodonite, & her role on Homeworld is being a designer for the Diamonds' palanquins. Morganites are assumed to be high status Gems, like Sapphires & Aquamarines, on account of the Morganite above owning a Pearl & having her own personal guard (both signs of high status on Homeworld). Based on the concept art, her height would be just above that of a Ruby or Sapphire ( probably around 4'6"-5'0" ft). Fun fact: irl Morganites, Aquamarines & Emeralds are just a few of the handful of gems that are part of the Beryl family!

Speaking of, the next Gem on my list for you is: Pearls!

Pearls are considered status symbols on Homeworld. Only Gems of a high Aristocratic status own Pearls, like Morganites & Diamonds. Though it's assumed that Pearls may also be gifted to a Gem that performs exceptionally well or accomplishes great feats for the Diamonds. The Pearl will typically be customized by or for the Gem she's being made for, either mirroring her owner's appearance or matching their aesthetic in some way. This is done in the Reef, a Pearl production center owned by White Diamond. Pearls are known to entertain by either singing or dancing for other Gems, and will typically hold items for their master by storing said items in the pocket dimension inside their gemstone, as well as provide other forms of utility or assistance for their owners (like if unpaid interns were immortal). It's assumed Pearls stand at around 6'0"-6'6" feet tall & are always portrayed with a slender or lanky body type. Pearls are refined, elegant, graceful (usually), intelligent, determined, dedicated, handy & can almost easily pick up any skill/hobby. Pearls all seem to have distinct personalities, but share many of the same traits listed above.

Lapis Lazuli (one of my personal faves):

Lapis Lazulis are used as terraformers sent from planet to planet by Homeworld during early stages of colonization to rebuild planets to be ideal for Gems to inhabit. Not much is know about their societal status, but they're very powerful Gems for how small their frame is. Lazulis are shown as shorter than Pearls but taller than Rubies, so they're presumable around 5'5"-6'0" tall. Personalities vary, but the few that we've seen have consistent traits of; stubbornness, being somewhat reserved, self-assured/confident, determination, fighting spirits, no-nonsense (at least at first impression) & can be judgy, but are also whimsical & friendly once they warm up. Their main abilities are flying with water wings that they make, hydrokinesis, & the ability to make ice.

An honorable mention of this category: Moonstone

Very little is known about Moonstones- even less than we know about Morganites -as all we have to reference her is the two photos above. The one thing we do know is that Moonstones have invisibility. These Gems are smaller in stature, but approximate height is unknown. This one makes me think of you based on the irl stone more than the SU version, but its in this category since there is visual canon references.

Lastly, there are a few stones that I associate with you just based on your personality & overall vibe. When I think of stones that are "you", these also come to mind! We have;

Opal (left)! Fascinating, colorful, a unique stone that is dazzling, stands out from most other stones & gives a fantasy/otherworldly vibe. The only canon Opal is a fusion, but we've learned that in-universe there are stand-alone Gems as well as the fusions (since fusions name themselves, they're not actually related to the stand-alone Gems)

Moldavite (right)! Gets a bad rap, is actually a really nice stone! Very unique in formation & the earthy dark green reminds me of you! To me, instead of cottage-core earthy vibes, Moldavite is more witchy, forest sorceress vibes.

Moss Agate/Tree Agate (respectively). Agates in-universe are typically big buff Gems, standing between 7-9ft tall. They're typically soldiers, guards, protective escorts or sent on missions that require lots of muscle. The SU Agate body type/personality may not fit you, but the stones above remind me of you because of the earthy/foresty aesthetic!

Lastly, one that I think of when I think of Gemsonas for you is Angelite! Mostly because of the angelic, ethereal feminine vibe I get from this stone.

As promised, the TL;DR: If you were to ask my humble & professional opinion as someone who loves rocks & loves Steven Universe, my personal opinions on stones that would suit you best for a potential Gemsona (out of the 13 I listed) are; Moonstone, Pearl, Morganite, Angelite, Lapis Lazuli, or Opal.

Don't let my opinion sway you on what you want the most though! And don't let the canon designs deter you from choosing one that really speaks to you! Many people's FanGems look completely different from the canon versions. Same goes for what the Gem's job is or what their personality is like. At the end of the day, a Gemsona/Gem OC is yours to play around with, & with that you have the freedom to do whatever you want with them forever!

to say zurie was in her element being sunset galleria's unofficial welcome wagon would have been a vast understatement; to show a newer employee the mall through her eyes was an experience she never got tired of. she knew all too well a new workplace could be an overwhelming and even scary transition, so she wanted to make sure jinah felt as at home there as possible. "so, we'll start with this !" zurie begins her specialized tour in front of the employee lounge.

"the employee lounge ! you may have seen it already, but there's a few tricks to happiness. if you bring food from home, never leave it unattended anywhere in there. the fridge, the counter ... even if you try and stash it somewhere, it'll get sniffed out and devoured. i learned the hard way," she recounts solemnly, memories of her first month at the mall flooding back. so many ramen bowls were lost before she got to taste them, and she'd be damned if jinah would suffer the same fate. "you're better off taking it to work with you and securing it there, somewhere," she advised the other before peeling away from the breakroom door.

"we'll head to the maintenance stairwell next ! i dunno if you have a smoking habit of any kind, but if you do, that's the place to be ! we'll pass through there to the old, sealed off art studio. they don't do lessons there anymore, but there's still some cool stuff around. some of us drink there if the bar isn't open or if we lose our keycards to the top floor," zurie's words are full of purpose and the sentimental air of someone who's found home without realizing it. "but anyway, how's it been so far ? are people treating you okay ?"

Okay, so, I’m keeping a mental note on all the things I still need to finish. I keep piling up my posting backlog with new ideas, but I just GOTTA finish these up first:

1. My MBTI Quiz for Newcomers (I’m finished with all the questions and answers, all I need to do is write the full descriptions of each type! I’m no typology expert nor a licensed practitioner, but I did utilize cognitive functions when making the test, and I’m hoping to get more people into the functions by doing this method!!)

2. Fixing My Stan Marsh Playlist (I’m aware that some of the videos in the playlist got deleted. That’s on my part for using YouTube to make my playlist XD I should probably make a Spotify version of the playlist too, but I’m so new to Spotify. It might take a while to get it done?)

3. Updating My Jock Stan Compilation + Making a Tumblr Version (I’ve got newer content, though most of them are just minuscule moments and details. I do everything on my iPad (and it really, really shows), sooo making the Tumblr version is actually a lot more difficult than I thought. I’ll find a way though!!)

4. My Bendy Fic (I was initially going to post this on Lesbian Visibility Week buuuut I couldn’t finish it LMAO. I will give away that it’s just a simple, canon compliant fic about Wendy and Bebe in “Follow That Egg”. Lots of Wendy worrying about her old egg and Bebe finding the whole thing to be weird but is comforting her regardless. Could be taken platonically or romantically, they’re just kids being kids.)

5. My Thoughts on Comphet Stan & Kyle (This is a personal headcanon of mine that I genuinely hold dearly. I might explain why I love it so much, but oof, I don’t know why I keep putting this off. Before I would be too scared sharing my thoughts about Stan and Kyle as comphet gay men and how much it resonates with me, but I think now is the time to take that step forward. This is mostly just projection on my part. None of this will come from a non-biased, objective lens, and I’m open to people not being fully on-board. These are just headcanons after all, and for the record, I like Bi Stan. I like Stendy. I also very much like comphet gay Stan. We exist 🕺)

5. The “Style Look” Pixel GIF (Uh, yeah. I want to experiment more with these pixel art shenanigans. Maybe I’ll do more blinking GIFs with the other boys!!)

Cognitive Functions (Thought it was best to introduce why Stan is an ISFP and Kyle is an INFJ before I delve deep into how they play off with each other, as well as the slight communication bumps they face. What was your genuine opinion on eldlive? Ive only read 11 chapters(?) but I had my assumptions about it, like how it felt like the main girl was a hibarified ver kyoko LOL.

ah, hi anon!! I’ve got opinions on elDlive, and real beef with that kind of opinion (but not you specifically anon). I just. I don’t like it when people read one series by a mangaka (in this case, Reborn) and hen read a newer series (elDlive) and then. compare the newer series’ characters to the older ones. I try to go into every new series (and usually by a familiar mangaka) with as open a mind as possible. Edens Zero, Burn The Witch, Fire Force.... I try to Not connect the new characters to the older ones (except Fairy Tail.... Mashima sucks lmao he can’t make new characters without sticking to FT it’s bad) and as such, I went into elDlive as accepting as possible

so I hate it when people say Chuuta is like Tsuna, or Misuzu is like a “mean Kyoko” or something or other. I read quite a few chapters, but I don’t remember much bc it was when it wasn’t as easily accessible on manga sites, and was still ongoing. but Misuzu likes her job, and gets along with others. she respects her seniors and likes and cares about her colleagues, and I believe she has a good rivalry, too. she’s got a backstory. that’s not like Kyoya or Kyoko at all. the characters ARE different to khr’s characters. I feel like it’s not fair to Amano, KHR, elDlive OR any of the characters

I understand your question and opinion are valid, they’re yours, and this isn’t to come entirely for you over it. it’s just always been a big, BIG pet peeve of mine

that aside I know Amano’s slightly older series’ (khr included) can be a hit or miss for people recently, which is why I’m glad her new series seems to be doing well (enough)

overall from what I remember, elDlive had some slight issues, I think?? but I liked it. I liked it enough I read well over 20-30 chapters, even though it was incredibly difficult to do so. I liked the story, the characters, the concept, and naturally the art!! I’d naturally suggest to anyone who wants to support Amano to try and give it a shot!! I don’t think it was bad enough to say “no, don’t read it”

I don’t have anymore nice and finished art projects to post at the moment, so I’ll be delving into my sketch books for now.

I like messing around with world building; whether I do anything with the characters or not. I was messing around with dieties for a race of amphibious creatures, and the next posts are the result of that. They all have a sickle/melted “G” and small dot symbol “The Mark of The Great Frog: Gufro” somewhere on their person to reflect their high/sacred positions.

The first one is “Gufro,” their great creator god who created not only them, but the flood plains and marshes they call home. He is adorned with lavender and other aromatic herb necklaces and wears a crown of woven pineapple grass.

The second one is “Shered,” their god of chaos and destruction (an amalgimation of heron, snake, and lizard). Around his hips sits a belt of dodder weed that chokes out the crops of the amphibious people.

The third one is “Numo,” their god of the moon and twin or their sun god, “Nuso.” A minor god who is only worshipped by some tribes. His left eye is a giant, golden, glowing orb, whose eyelids slowley close independent of each other to reflect the stages of the moon. Some artwork show his eyelid closing sideways. His right eye is shrunken in size and practically blind. He wears a metal head disk that reflects the stages of the moon, with metal moons and fuzzy silver plants handing under it, and a skirt woven of reed fibers dyed in silver and black. His belt and end of his tail also has metal moon decorations and slivery fluffy plants.

The fourth one is “Nuso,” the more reptile-like twin of “Numo,” and their god of the sun. He also wears a shining metal disk headdress, woth smaller metal disks decorating his body and tail, with dock seeds interspersed between them. His reed woven loin cloth is rust and gold colored. His hand claws are gold and his feet claws are rust colored. His right gold eye is extreamly bright and hot that his eyelid burns off if he tries to close his eye (which explain eclipses), and be has to wait for them to regrow to close them again.

The fifth one is “Retawi,” she/they is the goddess of rain and water and is their most reveared after Gufro. Her whole being is fluid water that usually takes an upright frog-like appearance. She is blue-green in appearance, and is constantly shedding water droplets. They wear necklaces of lavender, pennyroyal, and other mint herbs. Their skirt is made up of pineapple grass woven into the typical reed skirt.

The sixth one is “Erifa,” she is the goddess of fire, heat, and droughts. She is a newer addition to their pantheon as she shares few physical traits with the others, and her mythos also seems like a late addition. She may have taken over from a previous minor fire deity (or they never had one, putting Nuso or Shered in that position) and became more prevalent due to the unprecedented heat waves and fires in the area they live in. She is based on the new humanoids that have started living in the area and the newly active mountain (the highest peak in their territory). Her pointed nose has two vents on either sides of her nostils to let out smoke and flame. Her eyes are black coal with hot white irises, and blue pupils. She has no ears, and smoke and flame are constantly flying off her long thin limbs and emaciated body. She has stone claws tipping her long finger and on her toes. She has a top made of melted together shale and a belt around her waist, which hangs melted twisted bits of metal and melting rock. The coolest parts of her body are sandy in texture and look, while the rest of her body swirls to a black-red-orange-yellow-blue-white color, depending on the temperature. Her teeth are also made of sharp pieces or iron and bone.

The seventh picture is another doodle of Retawi and a profile of Erifa.

The last picture are two giant, dog spirits that guard the outside walls of the giant gated region of Nodreg. They were the loyal dogs of the first king of Nodreg, but after his death, they turned into spirits that guard the Western-most wall and the Eastern-most wall. They are mostly thought of as legends to scare away ne’er-do-wells from entering Nodreg. As legendary beings, they can vary in size, from being as tall as the giant wall itself (about 60 ft) or as large as a full grown man (6-7 feet); some legends have them constantly patrolling the outside of the wall, running too fast for the eye to see.

The dog spirits are split down the middle, the Western dog has a dark brown/black left side with a white eye and a white right side, with a black eye. The Eastern dog is switched. They also have a much longer muzzle and mouth than a dog with ears that bend at a 90 degree angle, two slits for nostrils, and a curled up tail. Those who have claimed to have seen them say that their gait is almost like they’re dancing.

The only way to pass safely with contriband is to wait for them to just pass, as they can not turn around and must keep their dark side to the wall during the day, and their white side to the wall during the night. Although, if they spot you, they will run as fast as they can around the wall to meet you face first. They meet each other’s path at the entrance to the Western and Eastern gate, where they pause for only a couple moments. Although, with a thriving black market and rumored retired pirates hiding in Nodreg, they are not often taken to be factual beings.

GOSH thank you so much for liking my old hq stuff enough to ask for more!! I’m not sure if I’ll get back to drawing bokuro soon, honestly? So I can’t promise that if I’ll go through with the suggestion it’ll be soon, but I’ll definitely keep it in mind for when the mood strikes!! And about the shop, I add to it whenever I feel there’s enough stuff piled up to? Though I plan to start adding more often than that from now on - I don’t really have anything for momo and kuroo to add on rb that isn’t already there, but as soon as I’ll have more of either of them I’ll remember to put them up! Thank you!!!!!! I actually used to have that same problem with shadows? However much I kept track of where the lightsource was and the shapes I was working with it always looked wrong, somehow - the way I fixed it was by adding more shadows, actually. If you’ll pick any of my colored pieces you’ll see I don’t really put down lights all that often, which means the base color ends up being my light color too, and everything else is just shadows getting darker the further I go from where the light hits the object I’m shading - generally, I use a soft tool like a brush or a marker to very roughly put down where I want the shadows to go, and then using the same tool I smudge and darken it till it looks right to me. I can’t really explain it any better than this? But I have a small tutorial for how I do this in my art tips tag, if you wanna give it a look!

It’s a mixture of both, actually! I like to look at clothing, both irl (on people I see, or stuff in the shops I visit, or even pics and movies and tv shows!) and drawn too - in anime and illustrations and manga and cartoons! I look at them and try to remember how they’re made, and then when I draw I think about it all and come up with my own by mixing stuff I liked from all those things - unless I see a piece of clothing that’d work just right as it is on a character, in which case I just draw it either as best as I can from memory or, if I have it, using a ref! It’s one of the things I find the most fun when drawing, I’m glad to hear you like what I come up with!! Thank you so much!!!
