Yes, he is! Firstly because he is a human, and secondly because he only exists in a digital space so the water is really just... pixels and such. So really, anyone is safe from water bc it's not real water, y'know what I mean?
I think i've seen a few height charts BUT!!! Inkling and Octolings are significantly smaller than human beings on average! I'd say the typical inkfish is about 5ft tall. Based on a few things:
In game, you can pretty much leap OVER other players aka twice your height... so! 5 ft.
Marina is around 6 ft and Pearl is around 5 ft. I think Marina is just very tall. Because enemy octarians as well as playable octolings are about the same height as Inklings.
Then again, keep in mind, all players are 14ish years in age. So... maybe get bigger? but I think it's cute if they're small so Gordon is 5 feet, Tommy is probs a little under 6ft but he WILL keep growing... bubbly's probs just under 4ft and Coomer is MASSIVE at like 7-8 feet. (uhh my original art doesn't reflect this... oopsie)

Splatoon 3 but Lil Buddy grows up to be a King Salmonid. My personal pick is either Horrorboros or Cohozuna mainly the former for shits n giggles in particular. The main character notices Lil Buddy getting a bit longer and thinner as they grow thus looks up what is going on.
Imagine the sheer shock when the results received list Lil Buddy being a Horrorboros Fry. (Personal headcanon that all Salmonid Fry look the same until they begin approaching the juvenile stage and which their differences begin to truly show.) Horrorboros juveniles start around 8 ft long so Lil Buddy gets big pretty quickly.
Whether MC shows up with their Small Fry being small or looking like a hotdog seal shaped is up in the air. On one hand you get poor Splatsville residents becoming increasingly confused and a bit concerned on why this newcomer's Salmonid is getting very big with all too familiar features. The other is MC being the insane country bumpkin who somehow befriended a fucking Horrorboros fry.
Chaos all around and Lil Buddy ain't going anywhere. If a town/city can keep a skyscraper sized catfish fed then they can sustain a giant ass eel salmon kaiju. Although MC definitely taking some extra shifts at Grizz Co.
Least they can pride themselves in being able to snuggle against a Horrorboros for a nap and not get eaten. Although Lil Buddy might be that one sleeper who refuses to let you leave even if it's a bathroom break. Rip MC since their pal can now pick them up by the scruff before they even make it to 20 ft.

what was your favorite part of the design process for the spritework/character art? did you have any outside media like songs or things that influenced any specific characters :3?
I think my favourite part of designing characters in general is figuring out their palettes (even if I'm not the best at picking awesome colours). It's definitely the easiest part of the whole process for me at least.
I think I mentioned inspiration things on character posts... Some of them off the top of my head:
Maddaton: Spinel (SU), probably Marine (PKMN) subconsciously
King RUDOLPH: Vintage Father Christmas pictures in general, Eggnog Cookie (for the cloak...), John Krasinski with a beard (seriously.)
Undyne: JRPG protagonists with impractical bits of armor on only one side, Sunny's Papyrus design (I wanted it to look like she was emulating him!); not specific to just her OS design but I draw her hair like a fish fin because of this cool fanart.
??????: One person said Dirk but it's actually closer to Lil Hal. Also Doc Scratch, but those are both technically Dirk so I guess they're still correct? Also old school computer terminals (the black and green text ones). The most blatant Homestuck reference guy out of everyone. You don't even know half of it yet.
Toby: Does Toby Fox himself count? He's wearing the same GameBro shirt as the one from that picture with Shigesato Itoi. You can probably guess about the Toblerone (Broblerone???) he has in the key art
Sans: Sans, but like the one in the Xbox port's casino with the visor. I drew it more like the Sun Visor gear from Splatoon.
Alphys: Wota (idol otakus) that wear happi coats, square John Egbert glasses (in my defense this is an intentional reference in DELTARUNE according to Toby)
Gerson: Captain Cuttlefish, Scrooge McDuck, Jimmy Buffet
Straycat (Burgerpants): When Sunny posted her designs on Twitter, she said he was inspired by Frank Fly from EarthBound
Glam Glitter-kun: "listening to lady gagas 'donatella' on loop" - Emerson

My list of the top twst characters that need a redesign (In reverse order) ft. my Malleus and overblot slander
5. Trey
Why does he look like that. Why has nobody reused the my hero academia joke yet. I look at him and I feel no respect for him. If he looked directly at me and started talking, I would feel and immense urge to just turn heel and walk away while he was mid sentence. Not because he's frightening or anything of the sort, it's quite the opposite, he simply looks like he has nothing worthwhile. Like, yeah, he's supposed to be unassuming, but not flat out uninteresting. At least make him look more like the well-meaning dilflet he was meant to be, cowards.
4. Vil
Kool Aid hair, enough said. You are supposed to be THE fashion and beauty icon, what happened. He looks kinda weird in the actual game render with the poses where he looks smug, but his dorm uniform looks lovely with his hair tied back, so that's why he gets a lower spot. Also give him more detailed makeup.
3. Lilia
He looks 12. He is at the very least 600 but if he entered a bar everyone present would get arrested on the spot. I hate "immortal but looks loli/shota" designs from a moral and artistic standpoint. His hair gives him a pass though those are some bitchin hair floofs.
2. Overblot Leona, Azul, and Jamil
What the fuck is up with overblot Leona. Why does he have ink leggings. Put some shoes on that dusty bitch. He looks decent from the waist up, but from below it's a trainwreck. Just have the fucking skirt cover his feet bro. Sorry sir, it says no shoes no service on the sign outside.
Also, can Azul just like,, HAVE a design? ANY design? My boy has ZILCH. He lives in the water and yet posses ZERO DRIP. People shouldn't be able to just remove the barnacles from him and get an octopus model that looks like he's just regular. They did him so dirty.
For Jamil, all I have to say is ink facial hair and WHAT ARE THOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE

At least give him a tail. Just a tail. Please. Or claws. I can settle for claws. He got a weave for those fuckin two strands and he couldn't afford the whole wig. Just PLEASE. ANYTHING. HE'S SO MID. HIS HAIRCUT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS A REJECT FROM SPLATOON. HIS DESIGN SAYS NOTHING ABOUT HIM AS A CHARACTER. THEY MADE HIM TO BE HOT BUT THEY FUCKING FAILED.

love disco elysium. Theres the whole prion thing when you talk to Joyce and Measurehead that killed a lot of the population, and the world never really recovered from it. and this is fucking WILD to me because i had a book idea using prion disease as a concept, so it was like me facing that scrapped concept all over again and getting weirdly emotional over it while also rubbernecking out of nowhere.
I also feel the same way with Soona and the Welkeins as a creator because I Was There working on something over my head and needing to abandon the project. It’s like a rite of passage for creators imo, and it was both exposing, chilling, and comforting seeing this kind of explored in a game like this

all the custom song ideas for MY coroika self insert side order (includes some reference to my oc x canon(just know ill put some idea of the boss fight ideas under the songs):
SPOILER SHIT [NOT FOR FINAL BOSS [kind of only for the final boss song [not really [but the final boss song is fire]]]]
And this isn't in order[ no pun intended]:
vs annaki: cha0t1c l132 [chaotic lies]
Its the ball boss fight (forgor name) but annaki is on the ball and shoots large splatana shots and burst bombs at Krac-on and hito [my oc's who are basically the ones fighting all the bosses]
vs vintage: X-br3ak3r [x-breaker]
basically the multiple characters boss fight (forgor name) but its every other masked character first then vintage (who is Krac-on's bf (yippee oc x canon ♡♡♡♡)) (vintage gets saved and fights with Krac-on and hito)
vs low-vert (oc): RUL32 0F 0RD3R [rules of order]
The spinny rings (okay, I forgor all the bosses names lol) boss but my oc low-vert controls all the things it does
Hivemind: N1GHTMAR3 0F D321R3 [nightmare of desire]
Was the one to be hypnotised first, and the one who got contacts (oc) hypnotised
Basically a custom boss who controls a big goo mech that only has 4 weak points (the hands and feet) when destroyed the mech will fall and that's how you get hivemind out

Octo shower but harder and shoots stringer projectiles ang you have to (instead of hitting flying enemys) hit slightly hard to destroy pillars holding up the thing
Junior and amie (oc): WH3R3 1S 1T???? [where is it????]
While trying to find contacts [amie [a non hypnotised fuzzy octo] is contacts' bandmate (goes by krill as a band name while contacts goes by wav3(btw band name is killerwav3) and junior is contacts' bf (oc x canon!)] They both sink into goo and get hypnotised
Its like the splatoon 2 dj octavio boss fight but instead of shooting hands you shoot the bombs back
Contacts (oc (second to final boss)): N0TH1NG BUT CRY1NG AMB1ANC3 [nothing but crying ambience]
Basically the marina boss fight but she can shoot killer waves and launch those seaking missal fish and layers
