Trick or treat
okay but like. i am actually so feral all the time over murdoc’s weird complicated friendship with déorwyn i am so normal it’s like.
there is nothing that murdoc is really, legitimately, deeply afraid of in the way he is afraid of his foresight. there is nothing that has isolated murdoc in the way his foresight developing did, nothing that has damaged his relationship with himself and with what he believes he is to others around him quite as thoroughly.
when they meet? murdoc has just barely begun to trust his closest friends with the truth of what he’s dealing with. murdoc certainly isn’t explaining anything he’s seen in his dreams to anyone in any position of authority, is trying to hard to carefully maneuver around how he knows what he knows while still getting people to act, and.
here comes déorwyn, riding into a town and confidently declaring that she dreamt of its fate, and is now here to stop it.
and murdoc sees someone who is like him!! someone who gets it!! and she can just do what he has been trying to do! except it’s not the same, and murdoc may not know how dé’s foresight developed but he knows now that it wasn’t the same, and the way she experiences it, the things about it that she is afraid of and hasn’t trusted others with yet, and the ways that she copes with that, are often so directly contradictory to what murdoc experiences and needs to cope, and i think it was genuinely frustrating for him to try to get to know her at first because of it, to be so close but so far away from something like a shared experience. there is so much commonality there, though - murdoc would love her with or without it, but it’s about the putting in the work to pull back the layers of clashing trauma and conflicting access and finding someone to relate to, even if not in the ways he expected, and learning how to work with and care for each other through it all.
i think leading dé out of the nazgûl’s mental influence was good for murdoc, too. i don’t know that he’ll be at peace with his foresight ever, really, but to be able to save someone he loves specifically because of what he cannot see?
i think the memory of that comforts him, in some way.

Also increasingly aware that a LOT of people "manage" getting through the 40+ hour work week by sleeping less than is healthy and relying on stimulants like coffee and energy drinks to keep them going.
For people who are unwilling or unable to do this...work really does just dominate your life. Like we really should not have to rely on unhealthy practices just to have a social life or keep on top of housework or whatever.
I know I post about this a lot but I'm so TIRED all the time and it's just so depressing that this is how we're expected to spend the one life we have.

"We don't need to do anything. We can just be."
Happy bi/pan visibility day (it's everyday for me). Also a sprinkle of ace and a dash of survivor and to top it all off- other expressions of intimacy, affection & connection taken seriously. I'm doing an Astarion origin playthrough and I ship him with Karlach like FedEx, your honor.

Trick or treat, tell me exactly how badly murdoc is gonna go off if something happens to ríros next game >:3
OOOOHHHHHBOY LISTEN. LISTEN. murdoc ALREADY wants so, so badly to kill girion and possibly also orlmond too. there really isn't anything stopping him exactly except for the current lack of opportunity and MAYBE because he doesn't actually want to cause a political nightmare for dale. not causing a political nightmare for dale is only a priority as far as the party is capable of getting both ríros AND bain out safely. if anything happens to either of them it's going to be a bloodbath but like. listen.
there is a Very Particular Way in which murdoc is protective of ríros. there's just such an element of ríros being vulnerable in ways that murdoc not only isn't, but can protect him about that just. isn't quite the case to the same degree, with anyone else in his life. ríros being in danger is pressing on a VERY specific and raw pressure point for murdoc, and he is GOING to snap. anyhow there's like a 50-50 chance this whole adventure ends with girion dead and that shoots up to coming down to opportunity and mechanics being in my favor Only the second ríros is genuinely harmed.
