I’ve seen multiple fanart of Takasugi and Xu Fu staring in disbelief at Kyokutei, who’s pulled ahead to be the first playable Takolegs servant... the Takolegs npcs meme will never not be hilarious but also despairing to me

Yassop: *the reluctant DM* All alright, so you've all fallen through a sinkhole and landed in the goblin King's throne room. Benn's paladin lands directly on the heir to the goblin throne, dealing *rolls dice* 17 points crush damage, and you killed him.
Benn: oh come on, I didn't even do anything.
Yassop: the goblin king, with his too-tight pants, ruffly white shirt, and long blond hair, launches himself to his feet. And in a booming voice, he yelled out, "These outsiders have murdered my son! Throw them in the dungeon!"
You: but it was Benn's fat ass that did it! Why do I have to go to the dungeon?
Yassop: The goblin king pauses, clearly thinking it over, after a moment he says, "Fine, that one's excused," before yelling, "but the rest go to the dungeon!"
Lime Juice: fuck me.
Shanks: what the fuck, we just broke out of jail less than three in-game hours ago!
Yassop: *definitely not punishing them for murdering an important NPC, and is trying to buy himself time to figure out what to do* Huh, I hadn't noticed...
Lucky Roux: For the love of god!
Yassop: Anyway, the entire party, minus (y/n) Dragon born, is taken to the dungeon. The goblin king turns to your dragon-born and looks you over, "Now, what shall we do with you?"
You: I'd like to roll a perception check, I'd like to know the vibe of the goblin king's court, from the nobles to the servants. *Rolls a D20* Fifteen with my plus eight modifiers, so twenty-three.
Yassop: Both groups, nobles, and serfs, are terrified of their king. You can see that a servant in the far corner has bandages under his shirt. It appears that he's been flogged recently. You notice, the nobles' eyes darting nervously as they mutter to one another.
You: I'd like to offer my services to his majesty, as a bard.
Yassop: The king scoffs, "I have plenty of bards, I have no use for another, you shall tend to the hearths of my castle. Go, start with the kitchens." You are taken to the kitchens and see it's dark, humid, hot, and crowded. The servants are wary of you, you see many of them are injured, and gaunt. The châtelaine approaches you and hands you a large rusty ring of keys and a map. She tells you your responsibilities are to make sure all the fires in the castle are lit.
You: and how much am I paid?
Yassop: she scoffs, "Your pay is food in your belly, a roof over your head, and clothes on your back. Now get started." And she leaves in a huff.
You: I'd like to persuade the servants to work together to overthrow the Goblin King because they deserve fair wages and safe working conditions.
Lime Juice: *chortling,* of course, unionizing them is your first move.
Yassop: *frustrated,* roll a d20.
You: *rolls* nat twenty, let's fucking go!!
Yassop: you inspire a popular servant to take the lead, and they overthrow the goblin King. The servants beat him to death. *Rubbing his temples in irritation*
You: I free the group from the dungeon while the servants deal with the king, using the keys and map the châtelaine gave me.
Shanks: Before we leave, can we look for treasure?
You: .... let's only take a reasonable amount, we wouldn't want to make them our enemies.
Benn: very wise.

Through the battered portholes of the brig, you catch sight of the edge of your destination. The island is all hard stone and sharp edges. Its many soaring rock arches and sinkholes catch the water that falls from above, as well as other stranger kinds of debris. This water in some places flows in pitiful trickles over the edge, but is mostly trapped in fetid pools, lakes, and swamps. Although you can tell that in the open Ariel above there would still be daylight, down here things are dim.
Picture this: you're on your way to prison and the only thing on your mind is escape. Every guard, piece of equipment, and door becomes a potential obstacle or ally.
But what if the prison itself was the ultimate challenge? Welcome to Boneyard, the island where forgotten prisoners go to rot.
Tumblr media
This place is no ordinary jail, it's a sprawling, treacherous terrain with lakes, mountains, caves, and even its own capital city. It's no wonder why adventurers can't resist the call to explore this forbidden land. However, don't let the beauty of Boneyard fool you. The inhabitants are not to be underestimated. Sure, there are some kind souls who will lend a helping hand, but for every one of them, there are just as many robbers, pillagers, and bloodthirsty maniacs out for their next victim. This is not a place for the faint of heart, but for those daring enough to take on the challenge, Boneyard awaits.

Firefern [Red][Herb][Hot][Bioluminescence] Q2
The crimson leaves of these rare shrubs emanate real warmth, and their constant shivering brings a dancing flame to mind.
One of the many plants found on the island, this particular shurb not only likes to hide small creatures, but can also be used in a number of different recepies -
Use it for bombs [Hot]
Make your own whisky [Red][Hot]
In a potion recipe to create glow-in-the-dark affects [Herb][Bioluminescence]
Or just use it as a campfire to cook! The possibilities are many!
The system of sentima: Sundered wilds was created to facilitate endless creativity, not only for what you can do with the many plants and mushrooms, but also what you choose to build with the many body parts you will have access to *wink wink*. Crews that venture here will not only be encouraged to craft their gear but also their main mode of transportation.
In April we will be dropping our free testpack! It will contain all you and your brave gaggle of explorers will need to try out your wings in this exciting world.
Playrules
Set of playable tribes, including proffessions
One shot campaign, including NPCs and landmarks

Percy being 'like that' in perpetuity is so very in character and funny and I'm still not over it truly. He's a shitty little bastard to literally everyone he knows, this coming from someone who loves him dearly, he's a bratty, snooty posh dickhead to everyone and despite that he had Keyleth, Vax, Vex, Pike and god only knows the guests and NPCs crushing on him at least a little bit, yes his heart is very big and he can be so so so sweet and kind and loving to those who have earned his affections but even to Keyleth, his best friend (re: every moral argument they have ever had), and Vex his beloved wife, (re: truly god I can only remember him flat out telling her absolutely not you scrub go bother someone else when she wanted to help him build her broom's seat but I know there has to be more) he's always had the capacity to be an asshole. Capacity and will without fail or hesitation fall back on being a snooty, aloof, uptight prick. (Edit: no hang on it's time to dogpile on mommy's special little man, in one of the prestream vines he literally threatens to skin someone and make a book out of the people leather and no I don't know the context and I don't need to, there's no way it was justified, this dramatic numbskull has literally always been like this)
Percy's traumatic start was not his fault and I would say that Im on the fence about Orthax being his fault because he says himself that he thought the deal was just a dream, but he does then choose to kick off the whole briarwood arc (starting a fight in Uriel's backyard almost getting them jailed for treason, defingering that one guy, setting that house full of people on fire for a second) and then just go full supervillain for a very long little while, and that most certainly is his fault even if the influencing factors were out of his control, and he fucked up a lot. A lot. And VM, his family, forgave him. Plenty of times. Ressurected him despite the dangers and loved him through his truly worst moments and saved his humanity alongside his life. And now here he is denying Laudna that same chance (while she has altogether done far far less to deserve her death) and I am not at all surprised because he lets his fear direct all of his decisions to an alarming degree. And! Not only that but he is wildly impulsive and has a bad habit of making decisions by himself because by Taliesin's own words Percy always thinks he's the Smartest person in the Room at any given time. He lets fear rule him, he's impulsive, he thinks he knows better than or can outsmart the consequences of his actions, and he's unfortunately very good at eloquently explaining himself. A true recipe for disaster. But, he's scared under it all. Has been for a while.
He's scared of Anna, Delilah, Sylas, it might come off as anger but I'd put money on the fact that that's because he could afford to be angry or at least focus on the anger, cuz he had Orthax gassing him up making him think he actually stood a decent chance at killing them all, he had his family besides him and some decent kills under their belt, he had Anna down an arm locked away in his dungeon cell and they had Pike on their side and Sarenrae with her, but I know they scare him far more deeply than he ever wants to admit (because he doesn't like having situations be out of his control either naturally, cuz the first time that happened he was brutally tortured, orphaned, kicked out of his ancestral home and beset upon by a demon taking maaaajor advantage of him) and now that he's free with most of his soul intact, now that his whitestone is once again full to bursting with life and laughter and children (children he never thought he'd deserve), now that he's settled into the leadership role he never thought he'd be ready for, now that he's settled down into domestic life with his wife whom he loves so much she brought him back to life, he is once again letting that fear (and the certainty as always that his every idea is the only one to have) rule all of his decisions. This is so incredibly on brand for Percy I could puke, and I know he's gonna apologize to Vex for being snippy later so fine Matt, well played I suppose.
Percy might be a dick but he's also a pillar of Vox Machina, these selfish dickheads brought out the very best in that bright young man and I know that with a bit of time he'll pull his enormous head out of his ass and get down to business, righting wrongs and writing lefts in true Vox Machina fashion. He's a hero at heart, even if he is retired, he just needs a bit of time to (over)think it all over.

Not me trying to be like 'oh look at how terrible your blorbo is' I just thought you'd find this interesting from a character/plot perspective and this dialogue is hard to fjnd
https://www.tumblr.com/aubergion/166984577125/loghain-what-are-you-doing
oh these are SO interesting i am chewing on them...
okay i only had a quick read but first of all the way rumour and public opinion is so central to the way lore and politics is presented in dragon age delights me. i think op’s response is fair but i would also counter that they seem to be taking these reports at face value and by nature there is not meant to be any way to tell how many of these rumours are true. i also think it’s fascinating how much the banns reject loghain despite the threat of the blight. the bit where it mentions some of them not caring abt it either way until their sovereign rights are threatened is so good i am gnawing at the walls
i love love love how in origins ruthlessness in leaders has consequences. in dark fantasy ruthlessness is sometimes presented as this get out of jail free card; everyone ruthless is oh so powerful and everyone clinging to honour is an idiot who’s going to get squished. actually, honour systems are how medieval power is maintained. people who are your vassals are making a reciprocal deal with you. if you look ruthless, people are not going to trust you enough to make that deal! loghain, anora, bhelen, possibly even irving for those who read that codex entry. they are ruthless, and it gets results, and it makes them look bad, and in many instances both npcs and the player will not side with them because of it, and that will be the end of them. i think that’s great and realistic. character strengths are character flaws just in different situations etc
that’s really part of a separate train of thought. of course that’s not all that’s going on here. i wonder how much the perception of loghain and anora’s “low birth” is affecting the banns’ refusal to rally behind them even against a blight and also how much misogyny as well as natural caution is affecting their refusal to believe that anora is speaking in her own right rather than just being a mouthpiece for her father

Hot take maybe? Pathologic Classic isn't hard. Like, at the very least in the current year, it's FAR from the hardest game i have ever played... which honestly begs the question of why is it so infamous for it's difficulty outside the fandom.
Just to preface, i ABSOLUTELY believe the game is made to "fuck with you". Like that's just a core design aspect, it throws curveballs at you when you least expect it to keep you on your toes... but also to create the illusion of difficulty. The narrative and ambience of the game emboldens the (somewhat lacking) mechanical aspects, in a way, into looking way harder than they are. But once you get past that (and the first day) the difficulty of the game drops significantly and only spikes suddenly in certain days thanks to special story beats.
And, like in most games with a time limit, i would say it's the time mechanic that completely rules over the difficulty of Pathologic.
You are told to keep track of the clock from the very start, and that's very sound advice on day 1: you wake in the morning, so you don't have the usual 24 hours, and yet you have to complete quite a few quests, get familiar with the Town (and the game), and start collecting resources. Naturally, it takes while, and most likely you'll end up with barely a few hours (or minutes) left at the end of the day.
But for the rest of the game? I always had extra time. Finished every side quest with far more extra time to spare than i should have, sometimes having to even pass the time sleeping (not necessarily because i was exhausted) to get the plot moving. This was more noticeable on my Haruspex route, which wholly allowed me to go wandering into the steppe to look for herbs and yet still have time to cross the entire town again to get to the lair and throw my stuff into the chest to go bartering.
And this might seem rather inconsequential in regards to the difficulty of the whole game, but i would say it's actually crucial.
If there's time, there's a way. Every single one of your necessities becomes FAR more manageable the moment you realize this, because with *all* that free time on my hands, i dug into all the trashcans, bartered my soul away with the kids, sold bartered stuff i didn't need to get money for food, broke into houses, etc etc. Not even infection gets that bad when you have the time to go looking for antibiotics and bandages: i spent the extra hours of one single day as the Haruspex and got my hands in 18 pills (among a bunch of other stuff).
My want to not "waste time" (as in going from point A to point B and getting a fence in the face for trying to take a short-cut) arose mostly for a need to not waste real time, because the game is snail-paced. I frankly got bored and tired of walking around that much, specially in days where quests weren't THAT interesting as to get me thinking about them for half an hour.
The only truly difficult days are the shorter ones. When Daniil got knocked out trying to enter the Abattoir and i opened the status menu in front of Block's face and saw it was 2 fucking PM, i panicked. When Artemy got ambushed in Rubin's door and thrown into an infected jail hours later, i panicked. These days, if you didn't play your cards right before, you are fucked. There's barely any time to get resources, and you can scramble to get them, but you are going to be getting really close to failing your quests— if not outright doing so.
And sure, i did panic —the game has been telling me that time is very much important and that is probably the intended reaction— but i wasn't, really, in any danger of either failing a task, dying of exhaustion, or starving. The previous days had already allowed me to gather enough resources that i could just sprint from NPC to NPC solving all the quests and finish them up before the end of the day. The surprise factor is very strong in shaping your perception of the difficulty, spiking it unpredictably, but if you spent the slower days taking care of your needs and learning the mechanics there isn't much to fear. Even death is rather inconsequential when you have quick-saving.
The difficulty of Pathologic classic is a weirdly tall tale which i would be very grateful if someone explained the origin of. Ironically it really made the game take me by surprise: i expected the mechanics to be uncompromising and to scrape by the skin of my teeth, but the real difficulty was not zoning out too much during the ten minute walks across town just in case a plague cloud jumped in my face and learning how to decipher what the fuck these people are saying. Nobody told me the game had this much walking involved.
