They created families for survival and so QPOC would have a place where they belonged and were accepted. QPOC (this includes trans, gender non-binary, gender non-conforming people) weren't/aren't accepted in the world, because of social inequality, economic inequality, racism, and transphobia in society and within the LGBTQIA+ community. These houses allowed them to be their true selves and they were loved for being who they truly were. Because of them we are here today. These homes do the same for us today.
They created reading and shade. Not transphobic RuPaul, straight cis women on reality shows, or gay white men.
Pose is based on their lives and inspired by them ❤.

“This is a new meaning of family. It’s not a question of a man and a woman and children, which we grow up knowing as a family. It’s a question of a group of human beings in a mutual bond.”

I just hope Freddie Pendavis is doing okay, and that Roy Rogers didn’t change the way they have their food out.

“A ball is the very word: whatever you want to be, you be. So at a ball, you have a chance to display your arrogance, your seductiveness, your beauty, your wit, your charm, your knowledge. You can become anything and do anything, right here right now, and it won't be questioned.  I came, I saw, I conquered. That's a ball.”

Paris is Burning (1990).
Tumblr media
