The precious metals inside your catalytic converter perform the remarkable function of transforming toxic emissions into more benign gases. These precious metal catalysts (mostly rhodium, platinum, and palladium) turn over 90% of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, and nitrogen oxides into harmless nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and water vapor. When a catalytic converter stops working, the dangerous emissions can potentially poison the driver, so the following signs of trouble should prompt you to quickly visit your local Ford dealer for a new cat.

The Van Drama
I tried to come up with a clever title but drama seems to be it. I am so fed up with all the negative crap hitting us left and right.
Dave is back to driving the van since he was able to fix the gear-shifting issue. However, it's still on its last leg and still needs a brand new racket and pinion which is crazy expensive. We cannot afford to rent a car, so there really is no other choice.
Dave is babying the van. He's concerned about going out on him while he is driving. That's the very reason why I refuse to drive it at all.
Dave said that the other things that need to be fixed can be put off for just a bit further. The racket and pinion will not hold out much longer. So as of right now, we are trying to scrimp and save what very little there is in order to buy the part. Thankfully, we do not have to put it in the shop since Dave and his friend can do the repairs. So that is a savings of almost $1000. It's just getting all the money needed to go and buy the part.
This van is our home without a home. When we cannot afford a cheap motel, we stay in the van. We cannot lose it.
Tumblr media
I did say it was an expensive part. Ideally, we should get another used car, but we simply cannot afford one. This is our reality.

Please help us get our van fixed. TIA!

JUNK Ford Ecosport 1.0L 3-Cylinder Ecoboost Teardown. How Do You Avoid This Failure?
Check out our website at www.Importapart.com or email us at [email protected] for parts and part inquiries. I've been tearing down engines on camera for 2 and a half years! Search my channel to see what I've torn down. You have been asking and FINALLY! I found one of these little nuggets of combustion. A 1.0L, turbocharged, direct injected 3 cylinder Ecoboost from a Ford Ecosport. This is a pretty unique engine in design as there aren't a lot of 3 cylinder offerings in the US, and I think its the first domestic branded 3 cylinder since the Geo Metro of the 90's. This 1000cc powerhouse puts down 123hp and is available in the front wheel drive Ecosport and Ford Focus, although they are available in more cars for different markets. This particular core engine is thought to have around 70-80k miles on it which is very premature for an engine failure on a modern car. I tear this engine all the way down to try to figure out what happened, and why it failed. Why on earth am I doing these teardowns? I own and run a full service auto salvage business in the Saint Louis area called Importapart. Part of our model is buying blown, core and unwanted engines and dismantling them to resell the good, usable parts. We do not rebuild engines, we merely supply parts to those who do. I really hope you enjoyed this teardown. As always, I love all of the comments, feedback, and even the criticism. Catch you on the next one!
P.S. These engines are good only as long as you drive through the gates of the dealership and you have warranty. This internal combustion engine is one of the reasons why Ford is not doing well in the European car market...! Yes, while the engine is new, the car drives quite normally with it, but as soon as the miles accumulate, it breaks and problems are appearing much too early. In fact, these fossil fuel engines die much faster than electric car batteries...

I don’t think anyone cares but in a hilarious update to Ford ripping me off and wanting me to pay $200 just look at the vehicle to maybe fix the starter that they broke after paying them $500 to fix the light that they broke I ended up taking it back to the guy who installed the starter in the first place and he fixed it in less that 5 minutes for $50 so that’s at least one less stressor on my list

I’m so sorry to tell you all I had to cut this section out of Ch. 2 of Every Day is Christmas if the Vibes are Right:
———
“Ah, finally,” Cor said into the phone, his gaze shifting to one of his armrests as he spoke, “were you still in bed?”
The voice at the other end was not pleased.
Mildly, Cor said, “I thought you were a good driver.”
That seemed to be the wrong thing to say. Dunn looked like he was biting his tongue hard to keep from bursting into laughter.
“I understand you may be somewhat on edge this morning —”
“FOR FUCK’S SAKE, COR!”
Cor held the phone away from his ear. “Yes, yes. Try not to become too well acquainted with the hedges, and tell Irvine we’ve got good news.” He hung up before the other could answer.
Dunn buried his face in his arms and shook with laughter.
