what happens when your father is the mogul of all neurosurgeons ? aiden found it easier to delve into the profession , all in all to have his father’s affections . but that wasn’t always his plan . the park’s weren’t strangers to the south korean elite , his father’s name one running mouth through mouth as a very talented , precise neurosurgeon who helped thousands of people every year . his mother , docile by nature , was one to aid to various causes , even though she didn’t held a precise job . when aiden was born , he became the center of her whole world .
not that it mattered to his father , but as long as he had his mother , he got all the love he could ever want . as an incredibly smart child growing into a very intellectual teen , aiden went on to take up violin and become incredibly gifted in the craft , for his mother’s delight . she loved the instrument and even more that her son was so talented . but fate has a way to show itself , and that’s exactly what happened . ( tw car crash / tw brain injury ) as they were returning from a performance , one would said the young child was restless , happy for the performance , or maybe ms. park was excited for her only son . crossing that red light had disasterous consequences . aiden was thirteen and yet still grasped that his mother’s life was on the line , that her brain needed surgery , and so he turned to the only man everyone thought could fix anything : his father .
and yet ? he was found with disappointment , as his mother passed away a few days later , even with surgery . that was the moment aiden completely changed his perspective to life . of course his relationship with his father had never existed , but it soured even more . as before it was already usual for them to move , but with this life change , they finally settled in america . it didn’t take him much at the age of eighteen to finally move out and find some sort of freedom in evergreen university .

for as long as charlie knew, her immediate family were her aunt, uncle, and her cousin. no mother, no father, and a sibling who’s vague memory felt too unreal to be true. the more she grew up, the more she found out about them from little stories she heard here and there, and whenever she persisted on knowing.
her parents passed away in a car accident when she was about a year old. the girl was left with a nanny while her parents went out to run errands, and they never came back. after that, little charlie was adopted and taken in by her godmother, her aunt.
the more charlie grew up, the more she found out. there was a brother. she vaguely remembered him. he was about three or four years older than herself, and he was adopted by another relative who lived in another far-away state. charlie never understood why the two were split up. she couldn’t understand why her aunt couldn’t just take in the both of them. but alas, charlie grew up never knowing him enough. she met him a few times in person, and it was strange. it always seemed like he didn’t know how to act around his own sister, and would always be awkward or cut the day short. charlie grew to not really care about him anymore. he didn’t feel like family to her. she even found out that once he hit eighteen, he left his home and was never seen again.
charlie was just thankful to have grow up in a loving home where her aunt and uncle felt like her own parents, and her cousin felt like her sister. although there was always that boundary she felt between her and the three of them. which is why she kept to herself more and more as she got older.
the only person charlie had opened up to the most was her best friend nico ( @nicocampbell ). the two knew each other since they were about eleven years old. the girl was trying so hard to fit in, dressing up like the other little girls in her class and not being herself. it was until the day she had fought a bully in her group of her so-called friends who called her ugly, and came back to school the next day with her hair freshly chopped off that morning to shoulder length. that was the day she lost the people she thought were her friends, and instead had a fascinated looking boy coming up to her and calling her ‘cool’ for fighting a bully. ever since that day, she stuck by nico’s side and hadn’t regretted it ever since.
the two had started to date during their senior year, and by the time they graduated high school and were deciding on what to do next, nico had decided to leave for LA to chase his dreams. while charlie decided to new york to chase her own. she was dreaming too big for her own good. she attended NYU for graphic design with a scholarship and spent the last four years of her life there, living in dorms and shared houses with university friends.
unfortunately, the two couldn’t keep a long distance relationship with how busy they both got, and decided to end it. now what happens when two awkward people break up and decide to “stay friends”? of course they lose all contact. charlie kept up with nico’s life online, but she never dared to send a text for whatever irrational fear she had.
now she’d graduated from NYU, and worked as a graphic designer for some companies here and there. some being big and some being small. unfortunately, she realized she was being taken advantage of for her skills. she happened to only receive offers for unpaid internships or jobs that paid too little. she eventually couldn’t afford to live in new york any more, and she missed her hometown. so eventually, she decided to pack all of her things and move back to san verto. she lived at her aunt’s house once again like she used to, and stayed there for a few months until she was able to raise more money from her freelance work and her new job at a thrift store to be able to afford her own place.

if you knew of charlie in high school, you probably knew her as the girl with short and colorful hair, and really dark clothing. she was quiet back then, and very socially awkward. she stuck to her own group, and had her rough edges. some people even told her they found her intimidating back then. she was the definition of resting bitch face tm.
as she grew up and went off to uni, she had to make friends and be nice to people in order to survive socially. she became nicer, but still had her mean and sarcastic moments. she’s more understanding, but sometimes could let her temper get in the way. she’s still very awkward when it comes to people she doesn’t know, and has a hard time making friends, so she still only sticks to the people she knows. charlie is dry humor central and would make fun of you if she’s comfortable enough with you. she’s the type of person who could come off like they don’t care about you, but if you ask her for anything, she’d be here for you.

hii i’m iris and this is my emo baby nico! in a nutshell he’s a soft baby with a big heart who is just trying to find his place in the world. i have some wanted connections all the way at the bottom of this post so don’t hesitate to reach out (if i haven’t already done that myself lol)
growing up, nico and his sister hayley, heard a lot of “who told you you were adopted?”-type jokes from their white, cookie-cutter american parents. the fact that they’d adopted nico when he was one year old, and a couple of years later hayley, was never something that they tried to ignore. however that didn’t ease nico’s hurt over barely knowing his own history.
everyone knows that one stage little kids go through where every sentence they say is a question. sadly for nico, most of his questions relating to his culture and history were left unanswered, simply because his parents didn’t know either. this wasn’t all his parents fault, but in a little kids eyes, parents are supposed to know everything.
overall his parents were loving and caring, always encouraging any hobbies or interests they’d want to try. art classes, music classes, anything that caught the little boys eye, and he turned out to be pretty talented at both drawing and bass guitar. however, there were no classes that could teach him about his roots, not in the way he wanted anyway. he didn’t want to be just looking in from the outside, he wanted to be a part of it.
the answer to that turned out to be his best friend charlie and her family. many ours were spend at their kitchen table, listening to their conversations in korean until finally he asked for them to help him learn, and then he never stopped. things seemed to be looking up.
high school was a blur of mcr concerts, gaming at charlie’s house, making sure his younger sister - the more extroverted one out of the two of them - stayed out of trouble and then finally, finally, graduating. all throughout high school he’d dreamed of moving to los angeles to study music but mostly to play it. the studying was mostly to keep his parents happy, but he wanted to play bass in a band. warped tour, sweaty venues, the whole thing. it didn’t really work out as he’d planned.
shortly before university graduation, his band fell apart, leaving him without a job - not that he’d ever actually made money from his music - without friends, and without a real reason to stay in los angeles. not that there was much waiting for him back hom in san verto either, having lost contact with most of his friends back home as well, but at least he’d have his family, most importantly his sister.
which brings us here. it’s not ideal, working as a bartender at the local venue instead of playing there with his band, but it pays the bills and gives him the opportunity to reconnect with his old life.

avery was , by all means , was a miracle baby . not in a way you think , since their parents already had four children . they were , however , all adopted , which meant avery was their first biological child ( and only ) . their parents were very open , welcoming people , unlike how msome people would like to assume in their neighborhood : they did love all their children equally and overall , avery’s childhood was filled with happiness and love . her father was a radio dj , so avery caught the music bug very early in life and their mother sold her pottery pieces , so her taste for art also was early in their life . so when she chose to pursue art , sketching and painting , her parents were nothing but thrilled .
a teenage avery was so , a free spirit , much like their parents . but in the same fashion , they were also extremely naive . queue the trashbag of a man that walked into their life . as some sort of strictness to their life , and to appease their grandmother , avery was signed into an all - girl christian school and that year , the school permitted the principal’s son to attend the school ; let’s just say all the girls were going insane . including avery . a sixteen year old avery found nothing wrong on having a crush on the only boy in campus , and for the lucky stars , he liked her back . or so they thought . it was safe to say the boy did everything with everyone in front and in avery’s back , but that wouldn’t be enough . he had to try and ruin her life too .
fortunately , their parents caught onto avery’s behavior . the once joyful girl they had at home turned reserved and moody for no apparent reason . onto investigating , they finally found why : a damn boy . of course avery finished their high school years from home ; their grandmother refused to pay for another school and her parents refused to let her keep going there . all in all , avery didn’t mind staying home surrounded by her parents and siblings . the natural moving to a small town happened ... out naturally.

born and raised in philadelphia, pennsylvania
mike grew up being an only child, and always around the company of his mother in their house. his father was always traveling back and forth from south korea to the states for work. his parents have met at work on one of his father’s trips to the states, and they fell in love. his mother being american-born, she couldn’t really leave philadelphia. she loved it there. so they decided to keep it a long distance relationship.
sometime during those fleeting meetings, she had gotten pregnant with michael. and of course, his father spoiled them both, giving them everything they wanted. he never left them to fend for themselves. when the boy was born, his father named him myungjun, and his mother decided to name him michael for his english name. the nicknames jun, mike, and sometimes junnie were often heard whenever his parents or childhood friends called him.
up until mike was five years old in 2004, he’s lived with his mother, while his father was leaving and coming back for a week or two. but that year, he’s finally moved to the states and stayed with them for longer nights. he even finally married michael’s mother. of course, he still disappeared for a few days or weeks on end for work.
but that was also the year michael’s mother found out that her husband was with another woman. michael has never seen his mother break down like that before. sadly, the young boy was peering into the room when the fight happened and witnessed everything. his mother made her partner choose between the two women, and he eventually told her that he was going to divorce his first wife for her, and appeared to have gone through with his promise. because after that incident, he’s been around more often.
by early 2015, when michael had just turned 16, his mother had gotten a teaching job in ashdown academy, which resulted in their move to san verto, california. meaning, new school and new friends for mike. meanwhile, his dad was still traveling a lot for business and coming back whenever he could.
michael has grown up as a cheerful and energetic child. his friends at any school he went to would tell you how much of a great friend he is, how trustworthy and caring he is. it was so easy for him to make friends anywhere. he was the type of friend who would smile at you and listen to you talk on and on about whatever you liked, and the type who would cheer you on with anything you want to achieve. he wanted everyone to feel included and loved.
so it wasn’t that hard for him to get along with new people once he moved to town. he was a very social person.
he was also the type of teenager who was out there doing things he wasn’t supposed to. he missed his old friends and his old home, but he wanted to have fun with all the new kids he was befriending. that simply resulted in him going to house parties as an underaged teen to ‘have fun’. his mother didn’t approve of him coming home very late at night, clearly smelling like smoke and alcohol.
internally he was a depressed mess. of course, no one is completely happy as they grow up. his family was a mess, even if it appeared as fine to everyone else. his family life affected him so much while growing up. mike sometimes could disappear for a few days in his room, and it was always during some of his bad spells.
what made it worse was the day he found out the truth.
it was 2017 when michael walked into his father’s office in their house, looking for him to ask him about something. and instead of finding the man, he found a stack of papers poking from underneath his father’s laptop. upon closer look, they appeared to be divorce papers. michael’s heart sunk, thinking his parents were breaking it off.
michael is a curious kid, he couldn’t help but close the door and read the papers. but what he saw wasn’t his mother’s name, it was another woman. his heart raced, as he put things back where they were and immediately left the room. michael had found out one of his father’s many secrets. he never divorced his first wife all those years ago. he lied and somehow stayed with both women without suspicion... well, until now. clearly the other woman was breaking it off for a reason.
michael couldn’t help his curiosity. he came back to the room later that night and snapped as many pictures as he could of evidence he could find. he even found his father’s phone (which was easy to figure out the password of) and found a plethora of pictures of the man with a different family, different kids and a different partner. he airdropped the pictures to himself to avoid leaving any traces behind and quickly left again.
a quick search on facebook, and he managed to find the first wife. it was easy with the name and pictures he had. if anything, michael prided himself on being a good internet detective... or stalker. he spent everyday trying to find the rest of the family on the internet. he found the woman’s young daughter on instagram and twitter, along with her older son’s accounts as well. it felt weird. it was a constant “now what?” for michael. he’s found them. what was he going to do now? he couldn’t just message them and tell them everything. and he couldn’t break his mother’s heart by letting her know.
except he had to let her know. he could never live with the fact that he knew his father was betraying her this entire time. and so michael told her everything, and after comforting her all night when she broke down yet again, she immediately ended things and asked for a divorce. now it was just michael and his mother, all alone. and for once, having to get by on their own.
thankfully they were safe, with his mother’s amazing money management skills, and the job she got at the academy, they managed to live their regular lives despite the heavy feeling of a broken family looming around them. the two just wanted to be happy again.
michael spent the next few years trying to lead a normal life. his mental health had gotten worse after everything he’s found out. he went to college, and he continued trying to do well in school. he really wasn’t the best when it came to grades, but he was trying his best.
and truthfully, he couldn’t help but make a few spare accounts on some social medias to follow his father’s other family.
but he eventually decided to just let it go, assuming they definitely knew about his mother and himself, which would explain the first divorce. so he decided to put it in the past and move on.
his mother has moved on as well. she found herself someone who actually cares about her so much (mike’s stupid ass has done a secret background check to make sure this dude wasn’t another cheater lmaoo) and now mike isn’t an only child anymore. it’s been 2 years since his little sister yuna was born, and he loves her so much. he still isn’t used to the idea of a new fatherly figure in his life, but he’s.... getting there.

( leo daudin, cis man ) have you seen KEON SIMS ? i heard HE is an UBER DRIVER for UBER / UBER EATS. they’re 23 years old and they’ve been living in san verto for ALL HIS LIFE. they tend to be RESPECTFUL & VERSATILE, but rumor has it they can also be IMPULSIVE & UNRELIABLE.
keon was a foster kid. his parents had him when they were sixteen & were ill-equipped to take on the responsibility so they did what they thought would give him a better life. unfortunately, he never found a place to call home & wound up in the system until he got out at eighteen.
ever since he was a kid, he’s always been a wanderer. he’d often run away from home & walk the streets or take a bus somewhere, anywhere that wasn’t california. there were rumors that he’d skip out for good & travel the world with his thumb in the air, but somehow or another, he wound up back in san verto at twenty-one & hasn’t left the city since. no one knows the real story behind his return & he’s not about to explain himself either.
he’s super unreliable and will often forget he’s made plans bc his mind is always on the go, go, go. never wanting to be bored, so he fills a lot of his time doing aimless shit like throwing pointed rocks at trees to see if he can stick one into a stump like a ninja star. so most likely he’ll be late to things or won’t show up at all — he used to apologize for this, but now it’s just part of his character and people are often surprised if he remembers having plans at all.
he has a terrible smoking habit and often keeps a cigarette tucked behind his ear “just in case he needs one”. there have been many times he’s tried quitting, but he hates how irritable he gets without the nicotine so his quitting sprees never last more than a few days.
his skateboard is basically his pride and joy, he doesn’t let anyone touch it. he’s had it since he was ten and the bottom of it is scratched up to bits and the wheels are a little janky. like idk how it’s still viable transportation for him bc he should probably look into getting a new one, but it’s the one thing he’s sentimental about, so he’s not about to let go of it any time soon.

Born on the edge of town, where San Verto ended and nature began, Avi Maura Melrose had a very idyllic childhood. She spent her time surrounded by nature, wandering through the woods surrounding her home, trailing after the many older cousins she shared said home with. It was a happy childhood, despite her not-so-wealthy family often being looked down upon by the rest of the town. Not so much for being poor, more for being weird.
Avi’s family home was known for being the house that you went to to get your palms read, or have an eccentric-looking woman do a tarot spread for you. It always smelled like weird tea and sage. Avi’s mother, Esther, had always had a way with tarot cards and the like. To the Melrose family this wasn’t really odd. Esther and her sisters learned from her mother, just like their mother had learned from their grandmother and so on. Men never stuck around for very long, leaving a huge run down house with just women and children, Avi being one of the youngest ones. The baby of the family.
If there’s one thing that’s gonna make your life even harder when you’re already seen as the weird kid, it’s being the weird kid and being trans. Lucky for Avi, her family has always been more than accepting, there was always space for her to express herself as she wanted to. And a benefit of being the baby of the family meant that there was a team of older cousins ready to defend her at school. If that hadn’t been the case, the bullying she endured as a kid might have had some very negative and lasting effects. Instead, being her most authentic self became kind of an act of rebellion. She learned how to be happy by herself, by being herself.
Avi never really realised how she actually really missed having a friend, always being content either by herself of with the numerous cousins she could play with. It wasn’t until she was 9 that she finally became friends with Mae, the new girl in town. They immediately hit it off, and have been pretty inseparable since.
Avi took on a job at the local thrift shop when she was 16. She’d always been pretty crafty with all the hand-me-downs she got from her family, making herself a very unique wardrobe. But if she wanted something that wasn’t already worn to bits by someone else, she needed money and she wasn’t going to get it from her mom. She could have joined the family business and made a career out of tea leaves like her mother and aunts, but that isn’t what she wants to do with her life. Reading tarot is a quirky party trick for her, not a job.
What she wants to do instead, well she isn’t sure what she wants actually. It’s not that she has no idea, she has too many. She wants to be a therapist, so she can help trans kids like herself, but she also wants to do something artistic because she’s always loved drawing, but she also loves music. And then there’s the issue of paying for college. She has collected quite the following on instagram over the past few months though, but that was never her intention, nor does she know what the next steps would be to make a career out of it. So until she figures that out, you’ll probably see her hanging around town. You can’t really miss her. She’s probably wearing something neon pink.

Mae Kwon, originally just 'Mae' was a little girl who was left stranded by her mother at a young age on a rainy day. Originally born in gwangju, South Korea, her parents moved to New York with her. The little three year old girl was found crying in a parking lot. There was a piece of paper tucked into her pocket stating her name, age, birthday, and the words 'if found, please take care of her because i don't want to. don't try to find me, because you won't. don't try to find her father because he's dead. i’m sorry'. Mae was actually lucky to be found by people without any ill intent. After a lazy investigation by the police department, Mae’s mother couldn’t be traced.
Mae was in the foster system for as long as she could remember and was moved from one state to another a lot. The longest she stayed at a foster home was with a couple consisting of two married korean women in san verto, california who loved children and wanted to take care of them, but could only take in one kid at the time, and that happened to be Mae. They loved her so much that on her 9th birthday, a year after being their foster kid, she was adopted by them.
Of course, there were a few complications. Mae wasn't properly taken care of as she grew up. She wasn't used to getting whatever she wanted. She wasn't used to being treated like she was someone's biological child. Someone’s favorite thing in the world. She wasn't used to having food whenever she wanted. She was a very quiet kid at first, barely speaking unless she was spoken to first. But once she got used to someone, she was so talkative and happy. Eventually, she got used to her new life and she loved it. Now she couldn't ask for anything better.

Mae now lives a happy and healthy life. She may have not grown up in a great environment, but she was lucky enough to be one of the few older kids to be adopted at the age that she was. Mae is someone who's amazing when it comes to her studies. It is so easy for her to memorize things, and therefore get outstanding grades in school. She, however, preferred art over anything else, if she had to consider a career path. Painting has saved her in her quiet and rough times, and she's gotten so skilled at it. Her specialty was realism, and which sometimes was mixed with other abstract styles. Mae now studies visual arts at Sun Valley School of Fine Arts, and she's going through her last year. It's not fancy, but it's what she prefers. She knows that if theres anything she couldn't learn at school, she could easily learn herself.
Mae has had multiple jobs throughout being in high school and college working as a barista or a receptionist, or what have you. She’s currently a waitress at Mal’s Diner. while her parents are big on helping her out financially if she needed it, Mae is someone who likes to save up and depend on herself.
One thing to mention is the way her childhood has affected her mentally in the long run. She was diagnosed with Seasonal Affective Disorder, and she was told it was most likely genetic. However Mae, although she knows it's incorrect, she feels like she developed it on her own during her childhood. In fact, she was abandoned on a rainy winter day, and although it's not true in terms of the official causes of the disorder, Mae thinks that day has had a big affect on her mentally regardless. She still remembers it vividly, and especially in the winter when she's suffering with her disorder the most. The impact of that memory just makes her even more depressed than she should be.

mae is that person who could come off as quiet and invisible, with her general vibe, but she’s such a social butterfly whenever she gets the chance. she’s the type of person who would purposely annoy you for fun. she was known at school for being the one girl in gym class who called the coach by his first name shamelessly, just because saying “what’s up, steve?” and seeing his reaction was funny to her. she generally has good patience, but it could run out so quickly, especially when someone is being rude to her or her friends. and despite her being so good at school and on top of her classes, she was lazy when it came to other things, especially whatever job she was having at the time, to the point where she became the type of person to quit work just because she wasn’t vibing like she thought she would be. mae has a shiba inu dog named haruki, and if you call him doge, she will glare at you because she’s so sick of the outdated doge jokes lmaoo anyways that’s her !

- the kinteh family legacy is one that precedes even olive’s grandparents. the story goes that a couple of generations ago olive’s predecessors came over to america from west africa and since then they’ve built both wealth and a name for themselves. they are upstanding members of their (rich, 1%-filled) community, and there’s a certain pride that come with being a kinteh.
- well, that’s what it looks like from the outside anyway. and it’s not entirely untrue, however that reputation comes with certain expectations and pressures. a weight on olive’s shoulders growing up. she’s an only child, and so there was no one to share that burden with. her parents were both respected in their own fields, her father being a very busy lawyer and her mother meddling in politics and being the ceo of her own company. there was the obvious expectation that olive go on to enter into a similar career.
- the family lived in new york, but they took regular trips to the seaside, having a vacation home there. it was there that olive discovered not only her love, but also her talent for surfing. ever since she was small, she has loved the ocean, trying all different kinds of water sports as a little kid. then she got up on a surfboard, and never really came off it again.
- any free time she had she spend by the sea, getting better and better. at this point, her parents were supportive, especially when she started surfing competitively. telling their rich friends about olive’s achievements was just another fun way to boost their reputation at boat house parties and golf course gatherings.
- the trouble started when the end of high school drew near. at this point, olive was a force to be reckoned with in the surfing world, winning whatever competition she took part in 99% of the time. she had build a name for herself, and was even earning a considerable amount of money. in line with the family legacy, you’d think.
- but she was still expected to go on and get an ‘actual job’, as her mother called it. however, with a lot of pleading and convincing, olive was able to take a gap year to just focus on her surfing. in olive’s eyes this gave her time to prove that this could be a career for her, and she wasn’t planning on actually going to college. however, disaster struck.
- the thing is, olive has the drive and determination that runs in her family, she just put all of that into her training. now that she could devote all her time to it, she trained harder than she ever had, with the results to follow. at the start of summer, what was supposed to be the end of her gap year according to her parents, olive wiped out during a competition, and broke her leg. she guessed she should be grateful that it could be healed, that she wouldn’t have to give up surfing altogether. but she had to give it up for now to be able to rest. perfect timing for her parents, because now what else was she to do but get that higher education.
- olive applied to a wide variety of schools, most chosen by her family and close to home. some she chose herself, and those were always on the other side of the country and near the sea. in the end she chose ashdown, an ivy league so her parents would have nothing to complain about, and she chose to major in creative industries because it’s technically a business major, but a creative one. she’s in her third year now, and graduation can’t come quick enough. compromises, loopholes, olive can’t wait to live a life that doesn’t feel like she has to sacrifice half of who she is just to be able to keep the other half.

ronan kang is born on a snowy december morning to an affluent family in lower manhattan, ny. he discovers very early on that he only receives attention whenever he acts out or misbehaves. and this realization subsequently commences a Reign of Terror that stretches the length of his childhood years. until one day..
it ultimately backfires. instead of his parents giving him the love & attention that he wants, they send him off to live with his grandmother in san verto, ca.

his middle school years are a nightmare. san verto is momentarily tormented by a feral tween who tries to fight its entire population of college students, but.........
ronan has never been destructive for the sake of being destructive. at his core is just a kid who feels abandoned & uprooted by the strangers he was supposed to call family.
so, with a little understanding, a lot of love, a very patient guidance counselor, & some good ol’ fashioned grandmother magic, in a few years, he starts to mend.
nothing happens overnight. young ronan has a hard time reigning in his temper, & it’s clear he has trouble not thinking with his fists. -- eventually, however, he’s able to convert most of his excess energy into something more productive ( & some of it is even translated into art ).
does he still look intimidating as hell? yes. does he occasionally scare off tourists by demanding that they ask him for help? .... yes. does he have a vaguely threatening aura that causes unsuspecting residents to feel like they have to cross the street when they’re walking on the same side of the sidewalk? ........ ( hell yes. )
-- but when you’re down, there’s nowhere to go but up !!
after graduation, ronan returns to the east coast to attend university at his father’s request. despite having had, at best, a tumultuous childhood in ny, he’s always viewed his hometown with a fond, rose-colored sort of nostalgia.
this feeling of nostalgia quickly fades, however, due in large part to how distant his family is, despite their proximity. -- now missing the warmth of his small town & the people within it, ronan struggles to acclimate to how small it makes him feel. the bright-eyed intensity that he used to be known for dulls into a blunt sort of apathy,
.. so. after four years of academics, a bachelor’s degree in architectural design, & a brief period gaining entry-level experience, ronan ultimately makes the decision to submit his portfolio to the architectural grad program at sun valley.
; p e r s o n a l i t y a t p r e s e n t .
having been away from san verto for around six years, ronan struggles to reconcile who he currently is with who people remember him as. he typically tries to avoid conversations that bring up who he was in the past; which is to say, ( with a few notable exceptions, ) he tries to avoid people who used to know him altogether.
his post-high school years have really worked to mellow him out; he no longer looks unapproachable or threatening ( at least, upon first glance ) and is committed to quietly cultivating a respectable reputation among his university peers and the other residents in town. new acquaintances might come to know him as diligent or sincere, .. but also distant & detached.
underneath all the perceived changes, however, one thing, at least, remains the same: ronan’s temper. despite having matured considerably, ronan is still always on the brink of irritation; he’s just less explosive now & better at hiding it.
occasionally, his aloof facade will slip, and one will be able to catch a hint of snark or ( god forbid ) a small twitch of the eyebrow, but he’s.. working on it........; he always carries a thermos of hot tea to drink & a small notebook to stress scribble in, just in case.

someone who’d been a good influence on ronan when he first started living in san verto. this is the person he considers his first & closest friend and most likely the only one he kept in touch with while he was in ny. ( def doesn’t have to be lawful good !! just someone who can keep him away from.. Crimes. )
someone who annoyed ronan in the past ( whether intentionally or not ). since his return, ronan has dreaded seeing this person, .. but the familiarity he feels after running into them again is slightly comforting -- if not endearing -- and this just serves to annoy him even more ??
someone who helped ronan’s grandmother one (1) time & made a positive impression on her. now, every time she hears that this person needs help with anything, she immediately volunteers her grandson to do it, and he never has the heart to say no.

born in the heart of the city , rosalie was born to sung-ho and sera moon one cold decembers morning . her father is currently a plastic surgeon with his own practice while her mother is a socialite essentially and former tennis player . their careers couldn’t have been more different but they made it work , eventually marrying and giving birth to rosalie .
with her father’s practice just starting up at the time of her birth , they were somewhat average at the time , living a fairly normal life and so rosalie was never spoilt and didn’t grow up surrounded by everything she could possibly dream off . instead , it took years before the practice actually made any profits . all it took was one celebrity to be spotted leaving the place and business sky rocketed from there . the practice was full for months at a time with limited appointments and celebs willing to pay ridiculous prices to just be seen and so it was no surprise that as popularity increased so did the moon’s wealth .
the family were quick to relocate into a newer and much deserved bigger home , boasting more bedrooms than they ever needed but that didn’t matter because they’d earned their place among the rich and wealthy in new york . rosalie’s mother began to spend most of her time socialising and meeting with the high ranking neighbours and her father was continously working hard to maintain the life they were still adjusting to . as a result , rosalie was left to her own devices , free to do as she pleased and take up whatever she liked to the pass the time .
art was one of her first discoveries , realising that she enjoyed painting , liked the serenity of making something come to life and she often filled the bedrooms with her framed artwork . this quickly stopped once she hit her teen years .
it was one afternoon alone when she had to cook for herself that she realised that was what she wanted to do . food made most people content and she wanted to do exactly that , to please people with her food and so after some convincing , her mother set her up with some critics who gave her advice she’d never forget . do whatever it takes to get your name and food out there . and so that’s exactly what she did . she’d spent hours in the kitchen , pouring her heart and soul into her food to then give it to those who needed it .
diving into her own savings , rosalie chose to relocate and leave new york , quickly realising that the popular city was full of aspiring chefs and she knew she’d never stand a chance there so move to san verto follows . it’s by chance that the sunrise cafe happens to be up for sale and after 3 viewings , she takes it . taking full responsibility for the redesigning of the quaint cafe and eventual reopening . everything on the menu , from cakes to sandwiches are all her own creations and where possible she tries to make everything from scratch .
she’s currently doing a small side project whereby she teaches young kids how to cook and bake because she's a firm believer it's a skill most kids should have . especially if they're left to their own devices like she was . she dedicates 3 days a week to her teaching at the café and can mostly be found at there .

is probably the kinda friend to turn up with muffins or whatever concoction she decided to bake .

📍 PART 1 - a burning memory
jinny’s parents had a rocky dynamic. they learned the hard way that a baby doesn’t , in fact , fix a broken relationship. her father left when jinny was merely 2 years old , leaving his recently turned 21 y/o girlfriend to fend for herself as he decided fatherhood wasn’t for him
with nowhere left to run , her mother moved back in with her parents in brooklyn & introduced them to their granddaughter. while her mother had done everything to escape that place , jinny recalls enjoying growing up there. she found comfort in the city & all it had to offer
when jinny turned 6 years old , however , her mother left as well. she had a desire to travel & discover the world. unfortunately enough a child didn’t fit that picture. in the following years jinny’s grandparents took her under her wing , taking care of her as if she was their own child
despite struggling with the thoughts of feeling abandoned in the years to follow , jinny’s childhood wasn’t too eventful. she never stood out , really , having a few good friends at school , receiving mediocre grades , & being comfortable staying on the sidelines in order to observe those around her
when she turned 18 years old , she decided it was time to leave. at that point her grandparents love had become suffocating , & as they’d gotten older she couldn’t help but feel she was a burden to them. jinny developed a strong longing for freedom ; to finally break free from the mold she created for herself & follow her dreams. she knew it was time to spread her wings
jinny realized , as she snuck out of the house at 3am with nothing more than a small backpack & a couple of 50 dollar bills , that the apple didn’t fall far from the tree
📍 PART 2 - San Verto
with no destination in mind , jinny ended up taking the first bus to san verto. she recalled from old childhood stories that it was the place her parents met & had fallen in love. hoping to find a purpose ( or at least some sense of identity ) there , thinking she would only stay there for a week max
life isn’t too kind to a barely legal teenager in a foreign city , meaning her money got stolen on her second day of traveling </3 KFJDKSDKFGFLDSQ 😭 when she arrived to the town she’d been desperate to find a job & somewhere to stay
aka thats where the previous owner of atlantis steps in <33
they took jinny in & allowed her to work as a bartender , & jinny basically never left !! over the years she received more & more responsibilities at the bar until the previous owner decided to retire , leaving the place to her <33
over the years she learned to adapt to the town , & although she never expected san verto to become a home to her , she’s really happy she stayed !!
