#i fully had to step away from making dinner because i can't stop thinking about the panel where dick is beating the shit out bruce#for dosing jason with fear venom (and presumably selina) and i know it's a separate run in a separate universe#(i'm assuming i genuinely don't feel like reading it)#but the fact that that's what you choose to do with these characters is so exhausting like#you take away your kid's agency afraid of what he might do when canonically#following the og run#your neglect led him into the hands of the joker in the first place#you treated childhood trauma in someone who grew up surviving on the streets by letting him beat up the people that used to hurt him#and then someone's like haha you know what would be funny if we took the guy who had little agency in his childhood#no agency in his death or rebirth or recovery (looking at you talia)#and then made his FATHER FIGURE dose him with FEAR VENOM#listen i don't care if i'm getting the details wrong the point is that it's stupid i hate it and dick grayson is correct in his actions#get his ass

💖 Day 3.5 is now available! 💖
For the last couple of months, only Server Boosters had access to the 3.5 update... Buuuuut now it's available for everyone to play in the 14DWY Discord — and soon itch.io once I'm happy with the QA and state of the game — so please don't feel pressured to join unless you want to!!

What's been added to the 3.5 version?
📺 Streamer Mode!
I've been told that it's difficult to stream and monetise age-restricted videos on YouTube and Twitch, so I added an option to remove the sexual content and strong language used in the demo.
Now y'all can invite Ren into your bed for cuddles without putting your streamer career on the line /silly /lh
This won't affect the 18+ rating or dark themes/elements of the game, however! Although Streamer Mode will prevent you from seeing any "gruesome" CGs in the future, most of the core elements of the game will still be tied to the choices and decisions you make. So you won't miss out on the overall experience by using streamer mode!!
⚙️ Custom Pronouns!
It only took me one entire year to get around to it, but you can finally choose your own preferred pronouns (or use a set of pronouns instead)... At the cost of being able to change them mid-game ^^;
Since the original pronoun screen wouldn't update until a new scene was displayed, I temporarily disabled the feature. But once I find a workaround, I'll bring it back!
💗 Choose how others perceive you!
You can now choose how the cast and narration perceive you! Originally, the narration was kept strictly gender-neutral (outside of pronouns and genitalia picked by the player), but this will soon change in future updates.
For more clarity: you don't get to choose the words specifically, but you can choose between masculine, feminine, and androgynous terms!
📋 Separate top and bottom genitalia!
You can now choose your tatas and pps separately! >:3
Alongside that, you can also choose your preferred body type!
I removed the "both" genitalia option because a few players still assumed it was an obscure version of "intersex". That wasn't my intention and I don't want to mislead anyone, so I took it out for now ^^;
I also didn't want to include a screenshot of the new genitalia choices in action (because it's NSFW), so y'all get the same character menu screen for the nth time instead lmao
📱 Relationship Screen Overhaul!
You can now change your own status for more immersion, and long-term Server Boosters will eventually be able to submit and use their own icon within the game as well!
Stalking finding your friends has now become easier by using "Buddy Maps"; a new app that allows you to see the location of all the cast members!
I want to offer players more incentive to check the relationship screen since they tend to miss the status updates, so hopefully this might help ;v;
It also says it "updates every few hours" so folks don't go overboard and check every 5 seconds to see where Ren is gdsghf (also keep in mind that he's a hacker lol)
🖤 Additional Scenes Update!
Day 2 received a brand new CG!!!!! Originally, I planned on only adding a few CGs sporadically throughout the game, but it didn't feel right to leave Day 2 so... empty... so I added a brand new CG to (hopefully) make things feel more balanced and natural!
If you decline Teo's offer on Day 3, Leon will now call and try to convince you to reconsider. However, players are still allowed to decline, and if they do, they'll reach a dead end.
After listening to feedback on itch, I changed some of the dialogue during Days 1-3 to make it seem more consistent! They're only small changes though, so it's honestly not worth looking for sdgjssga
🎶 Updated BGM and SFX!
I wanted to try out a different style of music to see if it fits the vibe of 14DWY more! The BGM features more acoustics to suit the "beachy" theme of Corland Bay, though I made a conscious effort to include piano elements as well to stay true to the original!!
I figured it'd be better to give players a live example before I make a poll (to see if they prefer the change or not) and publish it to Itch.
Some new SFX have also been added, though it's very minimal and honestly not that noticeable.

To download the Day 3.5 update, simply join the 14DWY Discord server, verify your age, and visit the "14dwy-updates" channel!
Alternatively, you can also wait until the update is publicly released on Itch to play it as well!! (It normally gets released shortly after a round of QA testing/getting feedback from the server, though I may release it earlier if I feel like it hehe ^^)

People: Dragon Ball focuses too much on Goku. He’s so strong, so nobody else has to do anything.
Goku: Loses first 2 tournaments in og. Dies twice. Only kills one major villain in all of Dragon Ball Z, and it’s the villain that everyone wanted Gohan to kill.
Also are we just gonna ignore how the Namek/Frieza saga was mostly Krillin, Gohan, Piccolo, and Vegeta just doin shit? They did so much in that entire arc
#also he spent the first two arcs of dragon ball literally just training and running to get to the battle mostly#he barely even fights in the android and cell saga#almost character besides Goku in DBZ’s first 4 arcs have a LOT more screen time#honestly#I’d say Gohan is on par with Goku as the main character#also the entire Namek saga and most of the frieza saga were just the side characters fighting with brief stints of Goku#I can understand how it seems like it’s the Goku show#but it’s really not#original dragon ball is#and honestly it’s not even worse for it#og dragon ball is fuckin awesome#but you can tell that dragon ball z is a show about ALL the characters#because in og we always follow Goku and his adventures#in dbz we follow everyone else too#even when they aren’t with Goku#which is basically something that never happened in the non filler episodes of og#ok thanks#dbz#dragon ball#dragon ball z#db#this is only about og and dbz btw#not super#yes super is more of the Goku show lol#Goku#son goku

Maybe I'm just being pessimistic, but I don't see much hope for it being good or worthwhile. Thinking abt my dst swap au again it's so messed up that I can't just talk about hypothetical character kits 24/7 and actually have to make a plot that some characters are more or less relevant in because all I wanna do is talk about Wilba and Wortox kits cause they're silly goofy goobers
#rat rambles#starve posting#they are swapped with eachother btw#wilba's kit is much Much more krampus themed than wortox (which is a low bar since he had no krampus stuff but still dhdndgd)#basically her whole kit is built around her being klaus's daughter#she is completely immune to the negative effects of a hight naughty meter and gets a free present each winter as her passives#and she has her own crafting station which is her lil tinkerers table where she can craft some festive themed items and deer stuff#she can have up to two gem infused deer followers at a time and other deer dont run from her#I do think itd be kind of fun to give her an enraged form too to mirror her werepig form in canon but idk it might be a bit much#also when she does fight klaus the amount of krampus summoned mid fight increases based on her highest amount of naughty points that year#the main reason this matters is that due to her being spoiled by her dad she cant rly do krampus farming by herself#but this is somewhat balanced by the fact that once she gets one she can tinker with it at her crafting station and unlock a recipe#so this both acts as her dad punishing her for fighting him and as a way to make it a smidge easier to get that initial krampus sack#as for wortox hes kind of two characters built into one#but both are simpler since hes now a og ds dlc character (although tbf current in game wortox is even simpler but thats due to change)#theres normal piggy wortox who has fun criminal gimics and during the aporkalypse he gets sorta possesed ~oooo~#outside of the aporkalypse hes attacked on sight by guards but passively has the theiving hat effect and it can further stack with the hat#he also can craft a lock picker to break into shops at night and a thieves sack which is like a krampus sack but held in the hand slot#he also wont be stolen from by other theives and can in fact trade with them for thieves stash maps#during the aporkalypse most enemies will become passive towards him and if he kills the he becomes the total ruller of all pigs#he can extort shops for whatever resources he wants and can kill or steal from whoever#but he has a pretty constant heavy negative sanity drain and lower max stats in general#also the chaos herald is still a potential issue although it wont immediately agro onto wortox#oh but if the aporkalyse is ended then his kingly status is revoked as the being that is seen as the ruler is no longer possesing wortox#I just thought that it was odd that no one in the hamlet dlc was given any aporkalypse related gimmics considering its so easy to ignore#I think itd be fun to have a character that incentivices engaging with it more even if its a risk to do so

I don't read enough to complete this probably (esp since I don't read comics lol), but it might be fun to track
I'm going to say I read The City We Became by NK Jemisin this month (I can't remember) just because it knocks out gay mc, black+queer mc, and two-spirit character (I think bronca ids as two-spirit??? I could be wrong). Hopefully I'll get the second book in soon and it'll knock out more aaa
The first two books in the Murderbot Diaries series check off novella, sci-fi, non-binary mc, and very tentatively I'm going to count it as queer parents/guardians. very tentatively.

I'm alive when I shouldn't be. Not that I've been revived or someone took the bullet tor me. I just... shouldn't have survived a specific event, and now it follows me everywhere I go.
#light's spot#just thinking og writing concepts#my favorite interpretation of this is either#a tragedy occurred and the character was the only survivor out of sheer luck or panic or adrenaline or something#so everyone thinks its hopeless only to see a character arrive out of the burning rubble#and their hope is renewed only for that character to explain no one else was around or followed them and they were the only survivor#or#the enemy left a character alive after an attack or capturing them#as a messanger or as a message itself#they saw the horrors and are now a walking example of what the enemy can do#and they and the people around them can never escape the threat that lingers w/ the character in question surviving#or ya know. the enemy favors the character and instead of killing them lets them run free because they're the favorite#which detatches the character from their allies and majes them question themselves until the only#place to go is right to the enemy#which completely flops the narritive and dooms them because win or lose they'll never be the same#i just love writing tropes!#Ichor's story is actually the second one I mentioned tbh#his life acting as a statement piece to his people of what cruelty they're willing to commit to win#very interesting :)
