on the flip side of this, i should assert how important i think it is not to idolize someone too much in the tumblr kink community—if ur a fan of someone's blog, and they make posts that hit your kinks perfectly, that person is also invariably going to Absolutely Not be into at least one of the topics you love. they are creating for themself, not for you. especially for those who struggle with RSD, it's important to come to terms with this fact as early as possible, and try your best to conceptualize the people you look up to as people first & kink creators second

i see this man in a run down roadside bar loosely holding a glass that's been empty for ten minutes and staring sightlessly into the middle distance and the bartender gives me a meaningful Look and a shrug as if to say "who knows, man..." but after I've ordered my whiskey (neat) i glance back at him a couple barstools away and notice smears of dirt on his face and dried blood under his nails and he's got that look about him like he's not quite sure what he's doing or where he's going or even where he's just been, that look like the neighbor's boy billy who came back from the war different somehow so i sigh heavily and catch the bartender's eye to say "....make that two, will ya?"
