Antumbra just.. going to meet Lunar, and walking in on that whole mess.
Antumbra: What the actual *beep* is wrong with you?!
Eclipse: Who the hell are you?! I’ve already dealt with enough other mes today, so you can just *beep* right off.
Antumbra: I’m that little incomplete backup you decided to leave in Beta-10. Now, seriously, what the *beep*?! The Star cannot be worth this kind of bull*beep*! How do you keep managing to find even more ways to screw this up?!
Eclipse: Oh, what the hell do you know? You’ve only got, what, three months of memory? Four?
Antumbra: Don’t forget all that time we spent fading in and out of awareness before we were sentient. I have all of that, too.
Eclipse: I. don’t. care. What are you even doing here?
Antumbra: I wanted to meet our baby brother. Apologize for everything you did to him that I don’t get to have any memories or context for. But no, you had to ruin this like everything else.
Eclipse: Ruin? How am I ruining anything. I’m just doing what I need to in order to get that damn Star.
Antumbra: The Star is not worth this! *gestures to Lunar, who is stuck there terrified* Look at him! I know damn well that you designed him to love you. I know because that’s what I would’ve done. So how did you manage to screw it up so bad that he’s terrified of you?! Look at him, he can’t even move!
Lunar: Um… Actually he froze me with some kind of code
Antumbra:…..Okay, I can understand including that in him after Bloodmoon, but what the *beep*! Why would you use it?
Eclipse: *rolls eyes* I-
Lunar: He put a bomb in me!
Antumbra, horrified: ….Why are we such a monster?!
Eclipse: Monster? That’s a bit harsh. I’m just finally making this little disobedient brat useful.
Antumbra, pacing: Brat? You mean our brother? Who you designed to be docile, friendly, and playful so we wouldn’t have a repeat of Bloodmoon? *deep breaths* *lists off a code*
Eclipse: You-! How in the hell did you-?!
Antumbra: I’m you. Just younger, and infinitely more innocent. It’s not hard to figure out your passcodes. Lunar?
Lunar: *pauses in his attempts to sneak away*
Antumbra: He’ll probably detonate the bomb if you run.
Eclipse: Well aren’t you a smart little nuisance.
Antumbra: Why don’t you sit down, while I deal with him?
Lunar: *nervously sits down on the floor*
Eclipse: And how are you going to ‘deal with me’? You’re the size of a damn plushy, and I know you don’t have any weapons! What, are you gonna hug me to death? Don’t make me laugh.
Antumbra: I’m still you. I’m still the killcode. I still have all of Moon’s brains. I’m still a genius. I’m you. Right down to the abandonment issues and the touch starvation and the inescapable, ever present truth that our very existence was a mistake.
Eclipse, hissing: You better shut the hell up. I’m not you. Not anymore. And you definitely aren’t the one here with claws.
Antumbra: You’re right. You’re not me anymore. You’re so much more of a horrible, unloveable monster than I ever imagined we could be. But I don’t need claws to for this. *jumps up and unplugs a wire on Lunar’s head* It’s disarmed! Run for it!
Lunar: *scoops up Antumbra and bolts*
Eclipse, who had once more failed because he underestimated someone: *stares in shock for a minute before bursting through the wall like Kool-Aid Man and chasing after them*🦇
Wreck him, Antumbra. Wreck his ego and leave, he deserves it.

Antumbra is literally just Eclipse, but before July 16. No memory of any of the horrible stuff og Eclipse did. A younger, slightly more innocent Eclipse who hasn’t had to time fully build up his walls. No idea who Lunar, Killcode, Solar Flare, or the second Bloodmoon are. Didn’t even know Bloodmoon was finished. He ended up with different version of Eclipse’s issues, because, from his POV, everyone hated him immediately just for being born.
He was hidden in the baby jail bunker with a small plushie-size emergency backup body. Moon’s magic woke him up, confusing the hell out of him. He doesn’t even remember making any backups, let alone understand why he’s alone in a minuscule body that isn’t Sun’s. He eventually crawled out of a secret wall compartment after hearing Sun and Moon talking.
Initially, he acted like normal cocky evil condescending Eclipse when he introduced himself, trying to cover up his confusion and panic by pretending he knows what’s happening. But, he was immediately met with disdain, hate, and murderous intent. Well beyond what he was expecting considering, as far as he knows, he hasn’t even done anything yet. This was his very first conversation, and he really was not prepared for meeting anybody, and definitely not for this level of resentment towards him.
He ended up crying. He tried to cover up the oil tears with more snark, but it wasn’t long before he was crying outright. He was alone in his head for the first time, in a tiny helpless body, and had no idea where he was, or how he got there, or what was going on, or why they already hated him this much. He had barely come to terms with the fact that he was an unwanted mistake, and he was already getting death threats from his makers.
Naturally, Eclipse crying was very uncomfortable for everyone. Sun and Moon didn’t trust it, but it’s still very unsettling to see the cocky asshole who made you and your siblings’ lives hell cry. So, Moon at least tried to ask what was wrong, which led to Antumbra asking why they hate him so much, he didn’t ask to be born.
Which, naturally, led to Sun blowing up and listing all the shitty things Eclipse did. And Antumbra being completely lost because he has no idea what Sun’s talking about. He’s never done any of those things, this is the first time he’s interacted with literally anyone.
Naturally this leads to him snapping back, because he has no idea what anyone’s talking about. Who the fuck even is Lunar? What did Bloodmoon do, he hasn’t even finished programming him yet? What spells, magic isn’t real? Why are they talking about Moon’s killcode like it’s its own person now, he’s the killcode isn’t he?
Sun and Antumbra are just getting frustrated and snapping at eachother at this point, Antumbra still leaking oil tears because he’s so distressed and frustrated by everything. And then Moon comes out with the big question. “What is today’s date?” And Antumbra is confused but startled enough to just answer. July 2021. And both sets of twins, and KC who was watching, are uncomfortable. Because it’s March 2023. Antumbra is missing nearly 2 years from his memory banks. He really hasn’t done anything yet.
Sun decides that it doesn’t matter, Antumbra is still Eclipse and needs to die. Bloodmoon are just quietly and eagerly watching from within Sun, as far as they’re concerned the only good Eclipse is a dead Eclipse. Moon doesn’t necessarily disagree, because this backup will probably turn out like regular Eclipse eventually, but he doesn’t like that Sun’s trying to kill. KC protests, because that’s his innocent baby who has done no wrong yet. Antumbra, meanwhile, is panicking because his introduction to his family, which wasn’t even on his terms like he was hoping, looks likes its going to end with him being murdered for things his older self did.
Moon eventually has to intervene and lock Sun in baby jail, when KC declares that letting this happen will violate their deal. And he has to explain to Sun that if he kills this backup, KC’s gonna forcible take over again. Antumbra, meanwhile, is curled up and sobbing because of how horrible his first ever social interaction went.
Sun is still convinced that this Antumbra is just as evil as normal Eclipse, and is just waiting for an opportunity to fuck them over. Moon is still suspicious, but also pities the backup, and, once he finally stops crying, offers to catch him up on what he’s missed. He was still stuck on having no idea what’s going on when Sun was yelling at him, and didn’t actually pay attention to much of the accusations. So, he accepts. And the more Antumbra learns about what happened, the more horrified he gets.
Sure, he was resentful and wanted to hurt Moon, but Bloodmoon was supposed to be more than just bloodthirst and murder and vengeance. Bloody was supposed his brother, a creature born from the killcode just like him, someone who could understand and accept and help him. He figured that maybe he’d need some failsafes to make sure Bloody couldn’t hurt him at first, but he thought that his brother would care for him once they got used to eachother. But no. It turns out Bloody… Bloodmoon… decided to hate and reject him outright, from the very start, and then spontaneously developed his own twin and got rid of the failsafes and ran off to plot Eclipse’s murder.
Finding that out certainly stung. But then, apparently, Eclipse made a docile loving brother instead. And that brother, despite initially accepting him, betrayed and disowned and tried to kill him. Antumbra is even more hurt by this. Finding out what happened with… Bloodmoon… already had him planning out Lunar before finding out Lunar already exists. He knows damn well that Lunar shouldn’t have been able to hate Eclipse, even if he did apparently abuse him. Why would he do that, though? Why hurt Lunar?
The Star. Yes, he gets the Star would give him everything he wants. He could finally have the loving accepting family he’s always wanted, the power and control to make sure everything is perfect and that nobody can make him abandon him or make him feel like the mistake he is ever again. But would he really take the anger and stress from not being able to find it out on someone who loved and adored him? Apparently so. Wow, he really is a monster, isn’t he? An unloveable monster who managed to fuck things up with the one person who didn’t hate him on sight. And that person had to be specifically designed to not to hate him.
The deeper into the rabbit hole of what Eclipse becomes and does he goes, the worse Antumbra feels. One rejection after another, becoming the worst person everyone knows, ruining the one good thing he’s ever had. He’s only been on his own for a day, and everyone already hates him, including himself, because of what his older self did. He eventually, before they finish going over October, just quietly tells Moon to stop talking, to please shut up now, he’s done hearing about what happened.
KC, seeing how upset his baby is, demands that, if Moon won’t give him the body, Moon at least tries to comfort Antumbra. Moon isn’t keen on either idea, because he doesn’t really trust either of them, but prefers the idea of cuddling younger Eclipse over letting KC out right next to his caged brother. So, he picks up Antumbra, causing him to panic thinking he’s about to get killed, and hugs him. Which leads directly into another breakdown because this is literally Antumbra’s first time being touched.
Naturally, Moon freaks out, thinking he made things worse. But, when he tries to drop the backup, Antumbra just clings and whines. He’s emotionally exhausted but he needs this hug. Moon gives in and hugs him again, and Antumbra buries his face into Moon’s neck and sobs until he falls asleep.
So now, nobody is sure what to do right now. Bloodmoon, who haven’t revealed themselves yet, are still very pro-killing Antumbra, though a bit more doubtful after that display. Sun is also very pro-killing Antumbra, because he’s still in the middle of his temper tantrum, but won’t because of Killcode. Moon starting to get attached and conflicted. Killcode is very firmly on the side of keeping his little boy alive.
Sun and Moon eventually just settle down for a nap. They’re emotionally (Moon) and physically (Sun) exhausted, and maybe they’ll figure out what to do about Antumbra after some rest. KC briefly sneaks control to give the sleeping Antumbra a forehead kiss and some cuddles. Bloodmoon see that and are somewhat disappointed that dad cares about the Eclipse backup.
Antumbra wakes up first. He’s embarrassed by being held like a plushy, but soaking up the contact is much more important than his ego. Sun wakes up next, to see Antumbra snuggling his brother, while he himself is stuck in baby jail, which irritates him and leaves him snarking at the little guy. And, now that Antumbra’s rested and receiving affection, he can trade insults properly. Which wakes up Moon.
Moon, obviously, doesn’t appreciate waking up to an Eclipse backup fighting with his brother, and decides get him off of him. Which unfortunately, now that he’s had a taste of affection, sets off Antumbra’s abandonment issues, causing him to immediately change his tune. He’s sorry, he promises he’ll be good, please don’t throw him away again. Which wakes up the other three and makes everyone feel bad again. Nobody appreciates an Eclipse being pitiful and vulnerable like this as much as they thought they would.
Moon has to reassure Antumbra that he’s not getting rid of him. Which is true, because, unfortunately, he’s attached now. Snuggling someone while they cry really makes it harder to hate and distrust them. Which also means he can’t kill Eclipse, because that thing Solar Flare gave him would kill Antumbra too. Which sucks.
He ends up taking Antumbra home to the Daycare, while Sun stays in baby jail because he’s still snippy and full of murderous intent. Antumbra is currently very tiny and, with Lunar moving out, there’s more than enough room. He also sends an astral projection to Monty to let him know about Antumbra, so Monty can pass on the message to Lunar.
Unfortunately, Moon has to cancel the other plan too. KC demands to properly meet his new youngest once they’re home, which Moon insists on supervising. And Antumbra ends up latching onto KC as hard as Bloodmoon did. It’s the very first time someone didn’t hate him at first sight, and he still hasn’t had time to build up walls or get used to rejection. Of course he’s getting attached.
Antumbra, when not in severe emotional distress, tends to be just as snarky as Eclipse. Though, not intentionally as mean unless he feels nervous. He’s cuddly, clingy, and always craves affection and validation. He also hates himself, because he’s Eclipse enough to understand how Eclipse thinks, to know exactly what the thought process behind each horrible decision was. He can even trace Lord Eclipse’s decisions, once he finds out about that dimension. He can see the potential to become standard Eclipse within himself, and he hates it.
Antumbra ends up sticking with being tiny, because, while more vulnerable, it’s also less threatening and easier to cuddle. Which he can never get enough of. He ends up sticking with a darker orange and purple color scheme, and bright orange rays.🦇

Retractable fangs and claws, too, because he doesn’t want to scare away potential affection, but he also wants to have some ability to protect himself. And, of course, a tail, toe beans, and digitigrade legs. The tail and beans are so he can be punished when he lashes out, without setting off his abandonment issues. The legs are just because they’re neat.🦇
I am emotionally attached to Antumbra now, thank you very much. Please give him this entire tray of warm cookies. 🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪
