Safe Haven
Jason Todd x Reader
A/N: Been quite a while since I posted! Wanted to write something so decided to do one with a slightly different tone. May not be your usual romance but hope you can look favorably upon it!
Warnings: Mentions of trafficking, guns, violence, blood. My inability to do endings lmao.
Summary: A weary Jason is jaded by the world. Until he meets you.
Tumblr media
Jason was always a lone wolf. With minimal baggage, it was easier to move alone. Call him heartless, but he has seen enough cruelty in this lifetime.
He wants to escape from the shadow of the Dark Knight. So Jason takes a page from his mentor’s book – the art of disappearing. Jason is determined to get as far away as possible from that wretched city that only holds memories of painted faces and blood red lips.
Jason lurks on the rooftop, watching the stationary convey, and waiting for the right moment to strike. Jason does not answer to authority or bureaucrats, he only fights for those who have no fists to defend themselves.
The children whimper as they are forced into the back of the vehicle. A straggler falls behind, flat on their face. Jason barely manages to control his temper at the sight of the malnourished child being poked by the rifle. In less than thirty seconds, he’ll let his guns do the talking.
For a man his size, Jason is scarily efficient as he subdues four men in succession. Before the last guard realizes what has happened, Jason shoots him squarely in the chest. He can only thank his lucky stars that none of the children has seen the massacre.
Awkwardly ushering the children out, the oldest of the group stops him from leaving. Utilising his minimal knowledge of Arabic, the Bialyan informs him that “Sister” is badly injured and needs medical assistance. Jason is confused but he does not pry. Instead, he lets the pair of little hands guide him. He makes a promise to himself that he will leave after.
Jason finds himself standing in front of a tent, logo of the humanitarian organisation plastered at the sides. He slowly starts to fill in the blanks. “Sister” turns out to be a young volunteer who he finds slumped against the cabinet that has been emptied of essential supplies.
He quickly assesses the situation, moving like clockwork with the help of his little assistant who can’t seem to leave your side either. Three hours and many bloodied bandages later, Jason thinks that you should make a full recovery. He’ll leave once he makes sure that you’re stable enough.
You wake up, feeling lightheaded. Your memory is hazy, but you remember enough. The local Bialyan army invaded the campsite where you were stationed, kidnapping the children and killing the rest whom they deemed to be of no use. You were very lucky to be alive.
Shuffling out of bed, you’re surprised to see a man with a tuff of white hair entering the tent with two cups of cocoa.
“You’re awake.” The scars on his face should have been a warning sign, but there was only gratitude in the room.
“How can I thank you?”
He waves your gratitude away. “It was what I should have done.” And Jason meant every word. He can’t help but to see himself in those children. Lost, scared, helpless. That could easily have been him.
Jason curses inwardly. He should have left by now but he can’t help but to wonder about your story. You made it easy anyways, all he had to do was to sit there and listen.
You were sick of people who could never appreciate what they had. It was always them wanting more. With materialistic desires, greed grew. And greed only begets the beginning of horrible crimes against humanity. Call it naivety, or idealism, but you believed that you could do something. That someone would walk away unscathed thanks to your intervention.
You would come to realize that your saviour’s mentality would bite you back in the face. Like now.
“Trafficking is getting worse every day. Cut off one head and three more grow to take its place.” You sigh wearily, taking a sip of the warm coca. Jason remains silent. You assume that he’s mocking you for your foolishness. “You can laugh, I don’t mind.”
But he doesn’t.
“How do you do it?”
“Do what?” You are puzzled at the sudden question.
“Hope.” Jason stares at you. The bruises may be the first thing he sees on your face, but make no mistake - the flame in your eyes are still burning, if not brighter than ever.
“Someone’s got to have enough hope for everyone.” You respond as if that’s the easiest thing to do.
“I know it sounds stupid, but trying is all we can do. And if that makes a difference, you can bet I’ll fight corrupted soldiers all over again.” You leave with the empty cups, allowing Jason to mull over the weight of your words.
He doesn't leave that day.
***
Eighteen months later, you stand beside Jason, admiring the house that you had built together.
Jason had told you not to worry about the resources and to focus on making sure that the small handful of children did not fall into the hands of the Bialyan army again.
Without a care in the world, six children run around the playground that Jason had specially built by hand. He has to admit it - you and the children have him wrapped around by the fingers.
Not that he's complaining.
He pulls you in by the shoulder, enjoying the moment that could only be created by your persistence and his resourcefulness.
At this moment, Arin, a young girl runs to you, leaving a trail of sand behind her. Lips wobbling, she lifts a finger to complain about her twin brother who has also run to Jason’s side, hoping that your husband would defend him.
Ever the diplomatic man, he takes each child in one arm, lifting them up to their delight. It’s as if they forgot that they were arguing with each other less than ten seconds ago.
Jason settles them in the living room, skillfully getting two kids to hug it out. You’re not far behind with the rest of the children, ushering them to the showers.
As the pattering of footsteps become softer, Jason wraps an arm around your waist, turning you to face him.
He can’t believe that this is all real. In fact, if he closes his eyes, he’ll wake up, on the move again. So Jason nuzzles his nose into your neck.
"What's in your head mister?" You teased.
“I didn’t think this would be possible. Giving them a life… All this while, I thought I was only good at using my fists.”
“Well, you are much more than that. Don't ever forget it." You tip-toed, giving him a kiss.
Maybe… just maybe, this was what Jason had been missing all this while. A safe haven.
There were still people who were out there, in need of help. But as you always tell him - baby steps. One day, he'll get there.
As long as he had you alongside to fight these battles with.
***
Do feedback or reblog if you can because I have no idea how this went. Greatly appreciated!

Lodi Palle - What is Web designing and its Types?
Web designing refers to the process of creating and designing the visual and functional aspects of websites. It involves various disciplines and skills to ensure that a website is aesthetically pleasing, user-friendly, and functional. Web designers combine elements such as layout, typography, color schemes, graphics, and user interface (UI) design to create an engaging and effective online presence.
There are several types of web designing, each focusing on different aspects of the website's design and functionality. Some of the common types of web designing explained by Lodi Palle:
Responsive Web Design (RWD): This type of design focuses on creating websites that adapt and respond to different screen sizes and devices, ensuring a consistent user experience across desktops, tablets, and mobile phones.
User Interface (UI) Design: UI design involves creating the visual elements and interactive components of a website, such as buttons, navigation menus, forms, and other interactive elements that users interact with.
User Experience (UX) Design: UX design aims to create a seamless and user-friendly experience for visitors to a website. It involves understanding user behavior, conducting research, and optimizing the website's layout and functionality to enhance user satisfaction.
Graphic Design: Graphic design for the web involves creating visually appealing elements like logos, banners, icons, and other graphical elements that contribute to the overall aesthetics of the website.
Interactive Design: This type of design focuses on creating engaging and interactive elements on a website, such as animations, sliders, carousels, and other features that encourage user engagement.
Typography Design: Typography plays a crucial role in web design by selecting and arranging fonts in a visually appealing and readable manner. Typography choices impact the website's overall tone and readability.
Flat Design: Flat design is a minimalist approach that emphasizes simplicity, clean lines, and vibrant colors. It eliminates unnecessary embellishments to create a sleek and modern look.
Material Design: Developed by Google, material design is a design language that emphasizes realistic and tactile interactions. It uses depth, shadows, and animations to create a sense of depth and realism in the digital environment.
Minimalist Design: Minimalist design focuses on simplicity and elegance, using a minimal amount of elements and content to convey information. It often uses ample white space and clean layouts.
E-commerce Design: E-commerce design focuses on creating online shopping experiences that are user-friendly, visually appealing, and optimized for conversions. It includes features like product listings, shopping carts, and secure checkout processes.
Landing Page Design: Landing pages are designed with a specific goal in mind, such as collecting leads or promoting a product. The design focuses on encouraging visitors to take a specific action.
Parallax Design: Parallax design involves creating a scrolling effect where background and foreground elements move at different speeds, creating a sense of depth and immersion.
According to Lodi Palle These are just a few examples of the types of web designing. Depending on the goals, target audience, and nature of the website, designers may incorporate elements from multiple types to create a cohesive and effective web presence.

How would you describe Dom and Mor's fashion style? What's their main aesthetic (if they have one) and what's your usual process when dressing your Ocs?
(I noticed Morgan's style had changed a ton since you reworked the story).
yeah Mor's style changed a LOT in her recent iteration lol
As for my process, I kinda go through a lot. I start with mood-boarding of course, but I also have a pretty deep knowledge of fashion brands and current trends, so I use those to help get a general aesthetic or direction for my characters.
I'll summarize how I see Dom & Mor's fashions and you can pick up some of the things I have on my long list of "what things I consider in the style for my OCs"
Dom: menswear inspired, androgynous, the occasional luxury brand logo (especially in her belts). Primarily should feel sleek-- even if she's following oversized trends, another part of the outfit should be svelte to balance it out. Very much a Gucci, Chanel, and Yves Saint Laurent girl, but she tends towards all-black or greyer/monochrome palettes. Shoes range from oxfords, smoker slippers, and chunky heels of all kinds (she usually wears a 3-inch). Doesn't really do thin post heels unless it's for work.
She's the type to not have bags often, if she does, it's a handbag or clutch. Wears minimal watches, but doesn't accessorize much outside of that. She has no idea what a futch is, yet she wears luxury men's briefs and cologne (her scents tend towards teak and mahogany and other handsome wooden-to-oriental scents)
Mor: comfortable, somewhere between tomboy and feminine, sometimes sporty but not sports luxe. She avoids "bombshell" or "sexy" looks, and is stylish in a cute street-inspired way. LOVES to layer, winter is her favorite season. Likes brands like Kenzo, Off-White, and Tommy Hilfiger. Picks up on popular trends, and likes whites, light tans, and sedated but rich colors. Uses canvas tote bags and backpacks. Tends towards oversized silhouettes in at least one part of her outfit. She refuses to let the Timberland and chunky sneaker trends die-- she loves her Timbs and a good chunky shoe. In general likes to collect nice footwear but leans towards flat heels, sneakers, and cute boots.
Her main way of accessorizing is through hats and beanies-- doesn't really do belts, jewelry, or perfume. Her scents usually come from lotions and essential oils, which range from floral to oriental

Current Logo Design Trends
In the ever-evolving design world, logos are the visual identity of businesses and brands, encapsulating their essence in a single, iconic image. As we enter a new era, logo design trends evolve, reflecting shifts in aesthetics, technology, and cultural influences. This exploration delves into the exciting realm of contemporary logo design trends, providing insights for businesses and designers seeking to make a lasting visual impact.
1. Minimalism: Less is More
The timeless appeal of minimalism remains a dominant force in logo design. Stripping away excess elements, minimalist logos embrace simplicity, relying on clean lines, ample white space, and essential shapes. This trend fosters visual clarity and ensures versatility across various platforms, from digital to print.
2. Geometric Precision: Crafting Order in Complexity
Geometric shapes and patterns continue to captivate the design landscape. Logos adorned with precise circles, triangles, and polygons convey a sense of balance and order. Geometric precision adds a touch of sophistication but also aids in creating memorable and visually appealing brand marks.
3. Vibrant Gradients: A Splash of Colorful Expression
The resurgence of vibrant gradients injects energy into contemporary logo design. Moving away from flat colors, gradients add depth and dimension, creating a dynamic and engaging visual experience. This trend is particularly impactful in digital environments, where gradients contribute to a sense of movement and modernity.
4. Responsive Logos: Adapting to the Digital Age
In an era where digital presence is paramount, responsive logos have become a necessity. These logos are designed to adapt seamlessly across various devices and screen sizes. From desktop monitors to smartphones and smartwatches, a responsive logo ensures consistent brand representation, fostering recognition and recall.
5. Handcrafted Logos: Infusing Personality and Authenticity
The allure of the human touch finds expression in handcrafted logos. Whether through hand-drawn illustrations or custom lettering, this trend emphasizes the uniqueness and authenticity of a brand. Handcrafted logos forge a personal connection with audiences, conveying a sense of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
6. Negative Space Mastery: Concealing Creativity in Gaps
Mastering the art of negative space is a trend that continues to captivate designers and viewers alike. Logos employing negative space cleverly conceal hidden elements within the gaps, inviting audiences to discover layers of meaning. This subtle approach adds an element of intrigue and sophistication to logo designs.
7. Dynamic Typography: Letters in Motion
Typography is dynamic as letters come to life with movement and energy. Dynamic typography in logos incorporates fluid lines, curves, and variations in letter spacing to convey a sense of motion. This trend effectively creates a sense of forward momentum and modernity.
8. Retro Revival: Nostalgia in Design
Nostalgia makes a stylish comeback through the revival of retro aesthetics in logo design. From vintage color palettes to classic typography, retro-inspired logos evoke a sense of familiarity and timelessness. This trend appeals to audiences seeking a connection with the past while embracing contemporary relevance.
9. Symbol Simplification: Streamlining Brand Elements
Brands are streamlining their visual identities by simplifying complex symbols. Logos that feature simplified versions of recognizable symbols or icons ensure instant recognition while offering a contemporary and refined aesthetic. This trend aligns with the need for logos to be easily scalable and adaptable.
10. 3D Realism: Adding Depth to Brand Imagery
Advancements in design technology contribute to the rise of 3D realism in logos. Three-dimensional elements add depth, texture, and a touch of realism to brand imagery. This trend elevates the visual impact of logos, creating a more immersive and visually captivating experience.
Conclusion: Crafting Timeless Impressions in Design
As we navigate the currents of design trends, the essence of crafting timeless and impactful logos remains a constant. Whether embracing the simplicity of minimalism, the vibrancy of gradients, or the sophistication of negative space, the key lies in aligning design choices with the brand's identity and values.
In logo design trends, businesses and designers alike are presented with a canvas of boundless creativity. By embracing contemporary aesthetics while staying true to core brand principles, logos become not just symbols but powerful ambassadors of identity and recognition.

Chapter 23: Preview
Wanted to give people a sneak peek as full chapter should be up in about a month. Title a work in progress but currently labeled in my google docs as this haha.
THE FIGHT
“Do you think it’s possible to ever see the past as it actually was?”
― Ann Patchett, The Dutch House
Harry emerged from the green flames into his flat already drained from the long day. He’d known they would be there, yet was still unprepared for the sight that greeted him.
Iris was slumped on the sofa, her thumb in her mouth, eyes glued to the television with Hermione seated at the other end. A large book was on her lap, and she absently stroked Crookshanks, who appeared pleased to have her back.
Hermione pulled her eyes from her book and locked on to him. He found he suddenly couldn’t move. She was wearing an oversized navy jumper with her University logo on the front and black cotton shorts which gave him a view of her bare legs. His whole body tensed up.
A squeal of delight cut through his thoughts when Iris broke out of her reverie and noticed him standing there.
“Daddy!” He had only a moment to brace himself before the blur of curls that was his daughter launched herself at him. “You’re home!”
Her words caught him off guard. Harry swallowed the lump in his throat and hugged Iris to him.
She was already ready for bed wearing the familiar blue nightgown. “I am. Did you have a good day?”
Iris nodded excitedly. “Mummy and I made you supper! Well… Susan made it, but we saved you some!”
His mouth pulled up into a grin. “You did, did you?”
She nodded once again, “And I’m watching a film!”
He glanced at the television and saw another animated film playing.
“Will you watch it with me?” she asked as she looked up at him sweetly.
“As you wish, Buttercup.”
The smile that spread across her face, her nose crinkling and eyes sparkling, took some of the edge off the day he’d had. The meeting had conveyed minimal new information, and his thoughts had been consumed by the fact Hermione was at his flat.
He moved towards the sofa and sat down with Iris on his lap on the other end, avoiding looking directly at Hermione.
“This is based on a real live life, did you know that?” Iris said as she stared intently back at the screen. Harry saw an auburn-haired cartoon woman arguing with a cartoon man about something.
“Is it?”
Iris didn’t take her eyes off the screen as she replied. “Yes! But Mummy said it’s not all real. Some of it’s just a story.”
“Ah.”
She looked back at him. “Yes, because bats don’t talk… even in the magic world.”
“Hmmm.” Harry glanced at Hermione, who had gone back to her book but the small smile on her face gave away that she was listening. He didn’t think it was worth bringing up vampires with his small child even though she seemed to have an affinity for anything spooky.
They sat in relatively companionable silence, Iris curled into a ball on his lap as she watched her film. The only other sounds were Hermione flipping the pages and Crookshanks’s cacophonous purring.
Harry wasn’t really paying attention to the screen; his treacherous eyes kept sliding over to Hermione, who appeared to be lost in her research. How she could concentrate so deeply with the singing blasting from the television was beyond him.
Every time she came into his vision, he felt his heart lurch at the familiar and foreign sight. How easy it was to imagine they were simply sitting in the Gryffindor common room, though he was sure she’d never worn anything that had shown that much skin.
Eventually, Iris started to nod off, but when he stood up to take her to bed, her eyes blinked open.
“It’s not at the best part yet.”
Harry turned to Hermione, who glanced at the clock on the wall.
“It’s getting late, sweetheart. Why don’t you finish it in the morning?”
“No!”
Hermione gave Iris a pointed look.
“I meant please, can I?” Iris added after a moment, her tone pleading.
Hermione sighed before relenting. “Alright. But it’s straight to bed when it’s finished.”
He sat back down and Hermione closed the book on her lap, moving gingerly to stand. Harry forced himself to look back at the television. The creepy villain was back on the screen.
“Have you eaten?”
He looked up. Her warm brown eyes on him made it hard to think.
“Er…no. I can grab something in a bit.”
She shuffled her feet awkwardly and bit down on her lip. “I might make a cuppa. Would you like one?”
“Yeah, sure,” he said quickly, looking back down at Iris. Her eyes kept half closing, seemingly only awake due to the sheer force of her will.
Hermione eventually came back in with the tea, setting it on the coffee table. Taking a sip he felt another pang: she hadn’t forgotten how he took it.
There was another dark turn in the animated film as the protagonist fought off the villain.
Had children’s films always been this grim?
He turned to Hermione whose eyes were glazed as she clutched her mug of tea to her chest -another achingly familiar sight. Suddenly she was looking at him, her face carefully held, eyes dark and sombre.
Harry couldn’t bring himself to look away as memories and emotions rushed through him, all conflicting with one other.
There was the image of her taking him by the hand as they sprinted against time to save Sirius in third year, again in fifth. The tent; that liminal time of falling further and further in love with her.
A flash of memories, a warm summer afternoon, the rowan tree, her hair dotted with leaves, head thrown back as she laughed in his arms under the weak spray of the shower, a stonechurch filled with candlelight, the feel of her skin against his.
The terror he’d felt at loving her and everything that had come next.
Her eyes held his now and it made his stomach twist as he was reminded of those long aching months where the distance between them had felt unbearable. At least until she'd disappeared, nothing, not any of his previous losses had prepared him for that.
Their child on his lap was the constant reminder that nothing was like it was before, that she had left him behind.
