// Oops, sorry for the two announcements back-to-back but since I’ve cleared out most of the relevant asks in my ask box and I’ve started tackling my drafts, I think it’s about time I reopened my ask box!
For the sake of my mental health I think I won’t doodle as much as I did previously but hopefully things will be verrrrry interesting nonetheless!
Magpie and her patron, The Lady of Fallen Snow. Another with a ramble under the cut ♡
The Lady of Fallen Snow is a tilted winter court fey noble, cold and cruel by nature of the role she plays as a titled court noble. Each titled fey of the courts Summer or Winter acts as their title demands, and the more powerful fey are able to see how this influences them, while those of less power don't see the bigger picture for what it is. Winter is bound to cruelty, to scarcity, to selfishness and cunning. Summer is bound to passion, to ferver, to merriment and to promises made with righteous intent. They represent warring sides, cyclical, unending. A narrative made literal, personifying the change of seasons as a battle that is doomed never to end.
The Lady of Fallen Snow, for whatever reason, seemed to have chosen to betray her nature to help Magpie in a time of need. She'd cloaked her intent with ominous promises, and took something deep and dear to Magpie to protect something even dearer to her. Early in the game, she'd told Magpie to deliver sorrows on her behalf, to take dear things from people during her travels. And later, when Magpie said she couldn't do it, she was instructed simply to "Do as she must."
Even still, Magpie never really stopped treating her as if she was a dear friend. Naive optimism, maybe, but she thought it was best. Beyond her pact, she'd offer little gifts of trinkets, twigs, rocks. Shiny little things to show her appreciation.
When they met face to face again for the first time since the sealing of their pact, The Lady of Fallen Snow stole a moment of time, quite literally freezing it just for a bit to step outside her title as it binds her, and greeted Magpie as herself. Kicking off her shoes, sitting in a frozen garden with her. Ever since then, it's been made clear that she's very deeply endeared to Magpie. This silly little all-too-optimistic goblin girl, doing anything and everything within her power to rewrite her own story. When Magpie asked what she wanted from her this time, she was told, "To cause chaos, silly."
So tl;dr, that's her spooky powerful fey mom. In the session that prompted this drawing, she showed up just to help soothe Magpie to sleep during a brief visit to the feywild. I care about them so much so bad
(I should note that The Lady of Fallen Snow is a character of my DM's making, I knew nothing about her going into the game. Did not know they'd take it in the direction of "Magpie is her daughter now." I am not complaining whatsoever.)
Thanks to user @stoptakinggoodnames1 for the suggestion!!
OOOOO such a good one to start off with!! :D
So, for Undertale I went with Muffet, and for Deltarune Noelle was a no brainer, read my rambles below if you wish!!
Muffet: Now the main theme with Gem's characters is 'looks pretty but could kill you'- and that is Muffet to a T. Muffet has the perfect mix of sweet and dangerous that i think radiates Gem's energy, I can totally see Gem inviting you over for a friendly cup of tea and it ending with you in pieces in the basement but she's so charming with it that you can't seem to care. Gem would absolutely love a sentient cupcake dog and you can't tell me otherwise. The monetary side of Muffet's character doesn't fit too well, but like c'mon! the vibes!! (also Spider Dance slaps and Gem is Great so i am biased)
Noelle: Literally do i need to explain myself? probably not but i will anyways :] Pushing aside the obvious visual/species-al(?) similarities (headcannon dependant for Gem ofc), these two are scary powerful, but so very unsuspecting. While so far Noelle has had a negative experiece with using her powers to their full potential, Gem full on embraces her strength (sometimes a bit too ferverently as we know), I feel like they could learn a lot from one another. Thinking of Gem as more of a role model figure to Noelle does also offer Dess as a very interesting option, Noelle with a bit more self confidence - Gem and DR!Asriel would be such besties istg
hear me out Etho as Asriel and Gem as Dess they are the sillies
also can we reopen up the fact that. the SYMBOLISM that. the first time c!quackity gets the "Not Today, Thank You" achievement (which you get when you use your shield to block an arrow for the first time) on the dsmp is in the van where c!schlatt dies during the first manberg war (WEEKS into his arrival on the server). and he gets the achievement because it's the first time he's raised a shield against c!schlatt trying to hurt him
when joel and etho realize they're each other's soulmates joel gifts etho an iron ingot after etho gives him a crossbow, indicating that even without being on hermitcraft joel knows about etho's gold digger tendencies, and that etho will be indulging joel's ineffable blood lust for the foreseeable future . God bless
keralis on empires is such a funny concept because his whole thing is literally modern builds. it's like if you took a guy from downtown manhattan and dropped him into a medieval feudal society
c!quackity was one of those stars-in-his-eyes idealists who believed in love to the point of destruction but was duped by it a few too many times and it hardened him, made him cautious and distrustful, and then was tossed into a savage cycle of loss & failure of his own making where he emerged bitter and vengeful, scarred with harsh edges, and just when you think he's been shattered too many times to have any trace left of who he was back before everything happened, he bites his own tongue and becomes a hypocrite to everything he preaches, opening himself to let in love again. and then the moment he does, lets his guard down, that gets yanked out from underneath him—but this time it doesn't send him into a spiral the way it would've done before; something's changed, a mark of a new beginning. and somehow i'm NOT supposed to go crazy over it all
