I think these are my first Genshin headcanons too!

Guren Ichinose,Shinya Hiiragi,Ferid Bathory,Pantalone and Neuvillette with a reader that struggles with depression and social anxiety(and also loves reading and painting)

Guren Ichinose

-I think he's really okay when it comes to care for someone

-like he may seem a bit depressed himself but he knows how to make sure that you do feel good

-very careful around you

-need a bath? He already prepared it; need a new book to read? He already bought it

-kind of an ideal boyfriend I think of in these situations

-he really likes you so he is going to make sure that his precious darling is feeling good and anything doesn't hurt you

-really protective; someone bothering you? Already dead/scared for their lives

Shinya Hiiragi

-he is always a calm/chill man

-like for real he thinks that anything can be solved through a calm attitude

-if you have social anxiety he's going to make sure that you are comfortable wherever you two may go

-if someone dares to say something about you being too quiet or anything like that he will umm make sure they're not going to do that ever again.

-very careful around you just like Guren

-isn't the type to cheer you up with excitement or a happy face,he will just try to calm you down

-since he is kinda quiet himself he isn't like the extrovert that makes people happy with their excitement

-a very good listener

Ferid Bathory

-honestly out of all the people in the world,Ferid is a questionable guy when it comes to depression

-like he doesn't know what is that and how does he deal with it

-of course that once he learns that you have it,he'll make sure to document everything on this subject

-though his playful attitude won't help very much

-I think he'll just put on shows for you to make you happy

-or whatever he thinks that is happiness

-he may seem as just playful and manipulative on the outside, but I do believe that he can and will take care of his s/o if they're in big trouble

Pantalone

-I kinda believe that despite all that rich man stuff,Pantalone has social anxiety

-like yeah he's a Harbinger,he's dangerous,but he has anxiety

-I feel like he's not very popular among the Harbingers too,like he's just there with all his rich stuff(we don't forget about the Yelan stealing situation lol)

-he will understand what you are feeling very well since he deals with that too

-most likely his love language is either giving you comfort or bringing you expensive gifts

-uses his money to buy you the craziest shit ever just because he thinks that maybe that will make you at least a bit happier

Neuvillette

-he isn't a human so it may be a new thing for him

-though he most likely experienced sadness or even depression while being a dragon,he just didn't knew how to call it

-those feelings are certainly something he wants to share with you

-he will be very soft with you

-and by that I mean the fact that he'll sometimes forget that he's the ruler of Fontaine and he'll just focus all his attention on you

-you're really that one person for him,so if he sees you being sad he will be trying his best to cheer you up

-he'll proceed to make you some appointments to therapy

-if that helps you then he's more happy than ever to hear that

I thought about how I could better describe this ideal of his. I did not just want to list a technical description of an ideal woman, but rather to organically pencil why someone like her would be his ideal. And why would this ideal girl want Ferid.

And I ended up with quite a lot of philosophy.

But honestly, I like it. I felt that what I write is alive. I think I could describe this ideal a lot more and the dynamic between him and her is fascinating to me.

How about we ship Ferid with this ideal of a woman?

Like a summer night —perhaps that would be the best metaphor for this ideal woman for Ferid.

For the night is deep and full of silence. In summer, a pleasant warmth embraces you and comforts your nights accompanied by the coolness of darkness. The feeling of peace creeps around you more and more, of rest. This is when you really see yourself, but the feeling is so sweet and pleasant that you feel at peace with your reality. Because tomorrow is a new day, in which you can rise with the sun again.

Her eyes would be, for Ferid, like this. Such a deep yet soothing look. One in which, when he looks, Ferid is drawn to delve deeper, research. Until he gets to look at himself, staring into her eyes.

Would it be a pleasant feeling? Maybe a bitter sting mixed with the chance to finally see himself through someone else's eyes.

Ferid would hide his gaze because of this sometimes. The feeling would remind him of the sky he once loved so much. It would be stirring.

But, Ferid would always return to look at those eyes of hers, more insistently, more desiringly. Strangely enough, a peaceful calm would come over him.

That, because, despite the deep silence that would often envelop her, she would be such a warm being.

Ferid would always notice her, how she does not talk much and her expression seems almost melancholy. He would understand that this girl, in fact, speaks in her mind, absolutely all the time. He would scrutinize her, noting her meditative yet warm aura.

How she does not seem to open to anyone. Somehow, like a rare flower that blooms only once.

She would not smile often, but when she did, her face would be comforting with her warmth and kindness. It would provide peace, the feeling of sacred safety.

But Ferid would feel her more. How her warm passion burns slowly inside her being and her soul is so troubled by thoughts and feelings.

How within her lies such a great love, one that can only be given in absolutes. Ferid would understand this and be touched by her way of being.

Strange fact, how this girl would always seek his presence. Would not she be scared of someone like him? Ferid would wonder that, when she would always appear around him, silent but gazing to him with those deep eyes of hers.

The same feeling of a warm summer night, where you want to melt and forget, for a moment, everything. Or you feel that all will be fine.

Her fragility would be something charming. Beyond the weak mortal body, the fragility of being a dreamer, an idealist, aware of the dirty reality in which she lives; a loner, but loving; a wisher for love, but deeply sensing the brokenness around her.

She would seek Ferid's presence. And he would always wait for her, invariably searching for her in his thoughts, always wanting her gaze.

Because her deep, warm eyes would show Ferid what it is like to be seen as himself and still wanted.

An overwhelming yet sweet feeling that would come as a contradiction to all the laws of the putrid world that created him…

...That there is love for someone like him.

Their conversations would develop mesmerizingly, like never-ending cobwebs, in which they are both so comfortably and sweetly caught.

This girl always caught deep in her thoughts, would offer her words to him. Oh, and how passionately she would speak, how well she would describe and read all his feelings and realities.

Ferid would listen to her fondly, perhaps with a shudder. It would be the most interesting story he had ever heard. It would be a truth he could never tire of, the first truth about him, one that is accepted.

Then he might as well reveal what was always on his mind. And his confessions would come in time, revealing the real Ferid, with his meditative gaze and faded smile.

His logic has always been sharp, impeccable — so would her emotional intelligence, feeling through herself how those around her are, how Ferid is, and wanting them to feel this too, including him.

So intuitive and capable of feeling that she would, over time, make him see more and more of himself.

And Ferid would reflect on his insides. Now not only in bitterness and despair, but with an unconscious hope.

As she would always look for him, bringing her meditative and warm aura, Ferid would feel those deep and living eyes looking at him as if he were a sun.

A new, unique feeling for Ferid. But this girl would need the power which is in him — his nature that can lead and fight with the messy reality around him, his dynamism. She would appreciate and love all these, seeing the good use they can be put to.

And strange fact, she would trust him. This precisely because she would actually see who he really is.

And Ferid could only enjoy and cherish this new feeling of communion, which he has always longed for. When he can be himself, comfortable — with all his deep sufferings, but him, being able to feel that rest of a sweet summer's night.

Why would the two of them seek and desire each other in the end?

Maybe because she would see the sun in him, and Ferid would find his hope to rise again. For they would both be equally idealistic.

The difference?

Ferid would be aware of the rotten reality, trying to change it, but wandering through this darkness. She would dream of his same ideal, but give it life in her every thought and feeling, despite that putrid world.

Reality would be dirty for both of them. She would feel the rottenness all around her, a deep burden weighing her down. She would feel everything far too deeply sincer her birth.

But still—

" I want to give love. Because God loves me and I want everyone to feel this love. "

This would be her highest ideal, an absolute one, which she would often become aware of as being caught in a vicious circle, in total discrepancy with the world around her.

But she would still bring it into her life.

Ferid would be charmed, how she can feel and offer this ideal, even if in the laws of their world, it does not exist.

But he would deeply realize how, if this desire has always existed in him as well, it must have a solution somewhere in the world that created his soul.

Would she be his solution?

In fact, her mere presence and love for her own ideal would show Ferid the answer already existing within him.

Both would be lonely, sensitive souls walking a tightrope. Although together, their vulnerability would not be in danger, but something worth cherishing.

Can I say I see them as yin and yang?

Where she is yin and he is yang. She, the night and he, the light of day. Each different, but complementing each other and carrying, in fact, the same essence, the same ideal, able to truly see themselves, and in each other's eyes, more of them.

And together, able to create their own world in the broken universe they both exist in and live out their desire for a good ideal in this macabre landscape.

As Crowley steps on the breaks, Ferid is sent flying through the window. Ouch. One Suzue sees that the squad is alright, she heads to make sure he's alright, but not before being questioned by the wary vampire at the wheel. Though, this isn't necessarily new for him, but why the hell is Ferid acting so strangely? Emotional turmoil ensues.

I am the mediator in their bloody battle as I try to find out how the actual fuck to write sweet fluff about a psycho vampire who murders orphans for fun and threatens to molest children. You guys just love to make me think, don't you?

🤍♦️ Well, for starters he is always clinging to you. He seems to always need to be touching you at every second. Doesn't matter what you're doing, he's gonna wrap his arms around you, drape himself over you, and kiss every inch of exposed skin. He especially loves to distract you from doing any projects or work you're trying to finish.

🤍♦️ Ferid is nothing if not playful. That being said, his version of 'play' might be a little different from yours. It's really him just trying his absolute best to get on your nerves and get you to react. He'll chase you around with a spider dangling from his fingertips to get a good reaction out of you. He also enjoys fun games such as tag, hide-and-seek, and play-wrestling. He knows he's going to win easily, but it's fun to see just how long he can keep the game going. Literally every game is cat and mouse for him. I think you know who's who.

🤍♦️ The best way to get him to be somewhat more soft with you is to make him actually love you. How do you do that? The answer is much more simple than you realize: beg for his attention. That's right, you heard me. Ferid has this desperate, subconscious need to feel wanted. That's why he has such a strong begging kink. Letting him know that you like his attention and want more fills that empty hole inside him, and he gets addicted quickly. He might not realize it at first, but eventually he'll come to the conclusion that he cannot live without you, and he will act accordingly.

🤍♦️ He will spoil you even more than he already does. Your life will very suddenly get a whole lot better, and it might make you a little suspicious at first. This is Ferid trying to impress you. He's basically making the statement that he can provide for you much better than anyone else can, so clearly he's the best and you should stay with him. Sure, he could just keep you hostage like he's basically already doing, but he's smarter than that. He knows that if you actually want to stay with him, then that decreases the chances of someone trying to 'save' you from him. He wants you to choose him over potential freedom.

🤍♦️ He will become even more possessive of you, and PDA will increase dramatically. He needs to let everyone know who you belong to. If he feels like someone is getting a little bit too close to you, he might stage a scenario where they 'accidentally' catch you two having a bit of fun (poor Mika has been the victim of this several times, because he feels sorry for you and keeps trying to talk to you). He simply cannot risk someone taking you away from him, and will do whatever it takes to keep you by his side.

🤍♦️ He will begin to take an active interest in pleasing you, both in the bedroom and out of it. And suddenly, he cares about giving you aftercare. Again, this is him saying that he's the best partner for you. Surely no other human could please you the way he can! He isn't wrong, of course. This bastard is extremely clever and observant, and a very quick learner. He knows what you like. (He'll also get a lot more needy, so watch out for that.)

🤍♦️ He will, in fact, attempt to join in any activities you enjoy. He'll watch TV with you, play games, learn how to sing, dance, paint, literally anything just to spend as much time as possible with you. He might never figure out why, but you are the one thing he'll never get bored of and he NEEDS your attention. Just give it to him, it's not like you can avoid him.

🤍♦️ Soft cuddles will become a thing. He loves to hold you and kiss you, and it makes his heart melt when you relax into his arms. It makes him feel so loved when you show him that you trust him and are comfortable enough to let your guard down around him, and he is shamelessly addicted to the feeling. And if you decide to turn the tables and spoil him with affection? You're going to be stuck with him forever.

🤍♦️ He will stay in bed with you all night, every night, even though he doesn't sleep. The fact that you are comfortable enough with him to fall asleep in his arms, even when he hasn't thoroughly exhausted you, has him almost in tears. He'll wake you up in the morning by covering your face in kisses!

🤍♦️ Ferid is capable of being a fantastic romantic partner, but it takes a special kind of person to be able to draw it out of him, and then to be able to handle how needy he gets when you finally do manage it. But chances are, if you're the kind of person that would willingly beg for his attention, you're the kind of person that can handle it!

Seraph of the End rant

I don’t think this fandom is even alive anymore, but hello, and please correct me if i’m wrong on any of this!

It might just be me, but I feel like many peoples trauma gets brushed over A LOT, and this post will literally just be me ranting about three characters in particular.

Kimizuki, Yoichi, and Mika.

Also, TW: Abuse, murder, suicide, mental health problems, abandonment, SA

First of all, starting off strong with the telephone pole himself, Kimizuki Shiho.

Yes, he’s pretty bitchy, but with reason. His sister is ill with a deadly virus, and he is so much more worried than he lets on. Now, as someone who hasn’t read much manga, (i’m catching up slowly), my knowledge roughly stops after S2 ends. However, I’m pretty sure there is a scene in a manga where the squad is hyping him up, though that could have been a fever dream, it shows again that he isn’t as tough as he lets on.

Now, onto the cinnamon roll known as Saotome Yoichi. Watched his sister get murdered by a vampire for no reason, then had a moment of recognition on the battlefield with LACUS FUCKING WELT. The fear in this mans eyes like- Kimizuki get your ass over here and comfort the fuck out of him, whether on the battlefield or after in his room. I would have sold my soul for that scene. And his trauma is, once again, ignored! Why?! He’s a cinnamon roll and needs comfort (yes, he’s stronger than he looks, but give that boy a hot chocolate, blanket, and some cuddles, STAT)

And, to wrap this up, we have the blond russian vamp himself, Hyakuya (or Shindo) Mikaela. Who, in my opinion, has some heavily brushed over issues. Like how he tried to get Yuu to not give him blood, which would have resulted in his death. Many times in that scene, he said he would rather die than live as a vampire. And I feel that the fact that that was basically an attempt was brushed over. And I have an inkling that that wasn’t the first. But alas, that may be my headcanons catching up to me. Also, not to mention the fact about the whole Livestock stuff and before then! His parents abused him, ans then threw him out of a moving vehicle. A moving. Fucking. Vehicle. And then was finally happy for a while. Then was livestock. Then had his found family murdered in front of him, stabbed, arm ripped off, turned into a vampire, and separated from the only family he had left. Also, isn’t there rumours of Ferid SAing him? Idk if that’s canon or not. Mans has been through shit, and there’s no way he’s okay in the head. I’m not, and I haven’t been through any of that.

BUT AAHHH WE NEED AN EPISODE(S) WHERE THEY COMFORT EACH OTHER AND OPEN UP ABT THEIR TRAUMA

💜Ferid might as well believe that he can never find someone he truly loves since he looks down on humans and mocks the arrogance of his own kind. Immortality has become bored to him as there is nothing that he sees worthy as calling a reason to live anymore. So surely you can't be any different than others. You merely are there to amuse him and serve him for a while with your delicious blood. His growing obsession flies over the head mainly because he believes that he can never love someone. With that being said, Ferid is a shrewd person so he doesn't stay oblivious for too long. He's not even mad or anything, he's thrilled when he discovers that he actually gained a genuine romantic interest in someone. His boredom disappears as he is suddenly overly focused on you, forces you to tell him everything about you and treats you something nice in return. He quickly demands all of your time as he wants to keep you the entire day in his mansion so he knows where you are when he wants you.

💜Very possessive and manipulative. His s/o is like a little and adorable rainbow in his normally boring and gray world and since Ferid is selfish, he doesn't hesitate to keep such a miracle as close to his body as possible. His high and noble position and his overall behavior are overly manipulative as he doesn't hesitate to take advantage of his position and superiority to blackmail and sabotage you. No hesitation to lie to you if it benefits his insatiable greed as well as confronting you with the cruel truth whenever he sees it to his best advantage. Ferid has no shame to blame you for things that are not your fault and that he in fact caused or calling you out for certain traits of yours that he exhibits in a much worse fashion. The vampire tends to be clingy and overly touchy, sometimes for the sole purpose to make you uncomfortable. He's a pure mystery and unpredictable yet without a doubt nasty as he has a sadistic streak, enjoys it when he can torment you and be entertained by your horrified reaction.

💜You're his most priced possession and it should be common knowledge that you don't touch what belongs to others, right? Sure, he doesn't even follow that principle himself yet expects others to follow it, especially when it comes to his little human here. He likes to flaunt you sometimes and ruin your pride a bit in the process as he forces you to wear a collar and chooses clothes that expose the bite marks and hickies of his. It's a "look but don't touch" philosophy he uses. Less jealous but more possessive as Ferid has no intention to let you ever leave his side. When someone expresses a too keen interest in you, he tugs you closer as he is quick to hide everything behind his inoffensive smirk though his words are sharpened with the intention to hit a nerve. If his s/o seems to like someone else he humiliates your crush and you alike in front of each other, chides you later on in private for being such a bad pet before he locks you away. He can't have you like someone else, can he now?

💜He enjoys toying with people a lot, especially if he knows that it puts you on edge too. Ferid expresses little care for others so he can dispose of them quickly. Before that he likes to push them until they break though as he feels a certain joy when he feeds them with false hope before shattering them. Due to his possessive side that doesn't allow it for you to like anyone and his sadistic side, he just uses such chances to break you down on your knees as you beg to leave whoever is precious to you alone as well, willing to do anything. There is a constant risk that he will kill those dear to you and Ferid uses this macabre situation to his utmost advantage. If you misbehave and displease him, he will kill someone you love and go as far as present a detached limb of theirs to you with a hideous smile as he taunts that it's your fault for being so dumb. The only time you'll see a similar chilly smile on his face is when he confronts someone who tried to take you away from him or hurt you severely. How stupid.

💜He locks his darling away whenever the hell he feels like it, though a punishment of yours include not being allowed to go outside, often when you expressed interest in someone else, tried to escape or he suspects that someone is targeting you. Don't worry, the silver chain on your ankle looks at least gorgeous on you. It's honestly up to his mood whether he wants to show everyone his darling pet or if he wants to be alone with you and play dress-up doll with you. You're not going to leave him as it is, not when he loves you so dearly as he does. Chances are that you are forced to spend hours trying on the clothes he bought for you, have to endure him smothering you hours on end or are to give him your sweet blood. He does so much for you after all, you ought to be a bit more grateful and repay his kindness somehow. He probably installs quite a bit fear into his s/o as he tells them that without him they'd be a nobody rotting away on the streets.

💜Whether he is currently doting on you or degrading you, he always cooes over you in a sickenly sweet tone. You never see him mad even if you land a hit on him or yell at him, he never yells back but chides you. The nasty smile and the excited glimmer in his eyes are the only signs that he plans something. Initially Ferid seems to be fine if you hate him as long as you don't like someone else and obey him, though he doesn't mind playing with your fire a bit. As time passes by, he starts to yearn for a more tender side of yours, one where you are more vulnerable and long for him. ❤️‍🔥Differently from Ferid who disregards despite awareness his whole obsession. Crowley harbors some conflicted emotions. He doesn't know how to feel about falling in love with livestock, is overall unsure what to think of his emotions which dwell over inside of his heart. One of the most obvious things from the very beginning is that Crowley is very protective over his s/o. He sends Chess and Horn out so they can gather information on you and abuses his power himself to find out more about you. Livestock isn't treated the best so he most likely ends up making sure to privilege you alongside with your family, demands in return that you spend time with him though. Significantly more tame than Ferid since Crowley is more genuine with his attempts to gain your trust. He understands why you're skittish around him yet the sight bothers him. Longing for affection seems to consume him the more you are with him.

❤️‍🔥You are a literal witness to him growing more possessive over you the more he gets to know you and his silent need for more fuels this. Crowley becomes unusually strict when it comes to you potentially liking someone else, a displeased look on his face as he grows more intimidating. Not quite as forceful but still ready to abuse his position and remind you that he's the one who allows your family a better life if you act up. At one point he eventually wants to taste your blood, something you dreaded yet there is no choice. Never allows any other vampire to taste your blood afterwards. If there isn't someone annoying him or you are disobeying him, the vampire is quite laid-back and lenient with you, you dare to say soft and gentle. His confusion eventually vanishes as he learns to embrace the warm feeling inside his chest, something he didn't expect to feel ever again.

❤️‍🔥His lenience shines through as he allows you to spend time with family and friends even if he at one point doesn't let you go alone anymore. Chess and/or Horn accompany you all the time though they don't necessarily are in the same room as you. He respects your own boundaries as good as he can as he acknowledges that you have people who are important in your life. Your family is probably terrified for you since you're essentially a vampire's personal pet at this point, even if they get the better treatment in return. Any sane person stays away from you when you are permitted to walk outside due to the girls or Crowley himself being with you. He doesn't isolate you after all though he expects you to know that he doesn't like you having feelings for someone else. His calm presence alone is enough to intimidate humans as it is and if someone is still overly persistent with you, he has no problem grabbing the person by the neck and nearly strangling them in the process. Maybe you can stop him.

❤️‍🔥Crowley isn't unnecessarily cruel nor sadistic like Ferid is even with his growing possessive behavior towards you and his expectations for you to show him your affection. That said every fool who believes that they can woo you in front of him or take you away from him will be personally drained of blood by him or simply strangled, he halts when it comes to your family and maybe your friends but will punish them somehow nevertheless. Whilst he has a soft spot for you, that doesn't mean that he's completely harmless either. Crowley isn't one to play mind games either, he's just brutal and maybe swift when he gets rid of someone. At least he doesn't rub it into your face that it's your fault until you break down in tears.

❤️‍🔥It's more like slowly being caged in as Crowley expects you to be with him in the mansion more and more, even if he has to leave to fulfill his duty as the Thirteenth Progenitor. You're still allowed to go outside and visit family and friends as long as you inform him about it and he gives his permission since Chess and Horn won't let you leave as long as he hasn't told them that it's fine. You can exchange alternatively letters with your loved ones. He respects privacy as good as he can, gives you time alone if you want it. He tends to space out anyways when he thinks of you. There is a limit though as he wants to spend time with you, suspects that you don't want him near you in which case he turns more forceful. As much as he tries to be mindful, at one point he ends up forcing his love on you, blackmails you by reminding you that he's the one who guards your family and he only does this because he loves you.

❤️‍🔥He won't hesitate to punish you even if he is reasonable. Depending on how far you went, he will either either drink your blood until you pass out, leave bruises or even break your bones. He's frightening since the soft shimmer in his eyes is gone, he even threatens you to throw your parents and friends under vampires to let them do as they want since they're just livestock, nothing more without his protection. If his s/o returns his love and indulges him in his desire, Crowley is fairly pleasant. He's playfully teasing you to embarrass you and fluster you and spoils you with whatever you want, reassures you that you don't have to worry about your family since they're under his protection. He is even as gentle as he can to not hurt you when he takes your blood though he sometimes loses himself in the sweet taste and takes a bit too much. Coaxes you into his arms or places you into his lap whenever he can.

Honestly, I thought about what I could write here and found myself unable to simply string together some "fluff" ideas about Ferid. Maybe it is because I am too used to writing prose, or I find this character way too deep?

The point is that Ferid suffered a lot from the lack of genuine love from his family, Rìgr, God, the world in general. That is why I felt the need to explain a little about his whole falling in love process.

It is a brief description, and perhaps chaotic.

But I think that the most "fluffy" thing about Ferid from a romantic perspective would be his openness towards the woman he loves, showing his real nature: meditative, maybe sober, with deep philosophies and always determined for the ideal. Offering that delicacy, fragility that he hid in an attempt to survive. For him to allow himself to be vulnerable in the face of this love.

That is what I have tried to present here. And from this point, obviously, a whole dynamic is born between him and the woman he falls in love with, the one he loves.And I think I will describe this dynamic further in other posts. Those will definitely contain more explicit "fluff headcanons".

Now, I think Ferid has a very sensitive layer in his soul and we have to take him slowly.

I am sorry if it is not what you expected it to be. I find myself in the position of being very particular when writing about Ferid. I feel like I can not fit him into something "general". Or is it the fact that I would write about him continuously?

The world he loves

It is not easy for Ferid Bathory to fall in love. In fact, he never did. But this boy has found himself in the position of longing for genuine love since birth.

From his parents, from his brother, from his adoptive father.

Family love betrayed him. And the one for a good God collapsed under the realization of this non-existent good god.

In general, the world in which Ferid lives has not given him love. Always only criticism, reproach, forcing unfamiliar attitudes on Ferid.

Thus Ferid shut himself up, isolating his soul behind learned attitudes in order to survive.

There was no one who loved him for who he was, for that simple fact.

Therefore, it is reasonable to say that Ferid did not meet love, but only his objectification for a certain interest.

...Superficial, broken, miserable...

Maybe these words are not too harsh to describe the world.

And yet Ferid continues to analyze and observe this very world. And his observations are never biased or incorrect.

That is why he cannot deny or not see her genuine love.

When Ferid meets this woman, his senses are on high alert. He observes her, analyzes her.

This women's presence unsettles him.

And as Ferid Bathory realizes why she seeks his presence, his unease grows.

It is difficult for him to even look her in the eye.

It is difficult for him to look into such deep eyes that remind him of the sky.

Why is she reminding him of this?

Because her eyes are the second place where Ferid finds himself looking again in the hope of being loved.

Just as he once looked up to the sky and was not honored with any answer.

Maybe that is why he is like this in the beginning.

The same arrogant noble vampire, on whose face dances the same almost mocking smiles.

Maybe for this very reason, and maybe for he thus taught himself how to hide.

Maybe, that is also why, he welcomes her to his library, at first, with the same arrogant smile and smug attitude.

Because it is an unusual situation, for which Ferid does not have a prepared answer.

It is a situation that risks touching a deep and fragile part of him.

And she touches Ferid.

There are no detailed stories of his bitter past for her to come close due the mercy of these forgotten histories, for Ferid would be a victim in her eyes.

He still hides it and just observes her. It is hard for him to bring out that unwanted boy anyway.

But slowly, his arrogance disappears.

She notices deep in his small gestures, how with time, certain suspicions of hers are confirmed.

And she sees how, from the arrogant noble who welcomes her formally in a public library, letters written personally by this noble appear.

But in his elegant writing it is not just a formal exhortation, or deceptive games.

"Please come to this room."

The room is indicated to her. The girl goes at his directions.

And after months of seeing the mask, she discovers there the man she is actually felt all this time.

The one she fell in love with.

Ferid Bathory, sitting on the edge of a bed.

The surrounding room is simple now, devoid of all those crowded and heavy ornaments, which are repeated as if obsessively in everything that always surrounds him.

Ferid himself is simple: the white shirt, without frills, the classic black trousers, the knee-high boots in black leather.

That black velvet ribbon is missing, his silver hair is undone and loose, framing his now smileless face. The red ruby earrings are also gone. Perhaps the passion symbolized by their cold stones is no longer necessary.

It is just the deep, meditative look of his red eyes. Beyond that cursed shade, as if unsuited to this man's features, a concentration is now felt.

Ferid Bathory is now focused on looking only at her.

His gaze stopped wandering contrary to his facade smiles. Now he is just focused on her, to the point where he is almost intimidating.

But she feels only that living, human warmth that shudders her body and heart to the core.

Ferid finally lets that warmth out, his living passion.

And then, when he rises to his feet and approaches her, his walk is no longer dancing as if, sparkling. The filthy pomposity that adorned him, that grandeur, dissipated, not being part of his real nature.

She can now observe the elegant yet sober walk and deep gaze of a noble soul.

From the way Ferid holds out his hand to her, in which his slight smile brightens his almost melancholic face, she can see the true refinement of this man.

A deeply worked refinement, accompanied by bitter suffering.

Perhaps precisely from the way this refinement was actually gained.

From that old, oppressive childhood, which Ferid has not forgotten and she does not know about.

But which, this woman who sincerely loves Ferid, suspects.

And she is happy that he is starting to show his sincere reality. Her warm hand reaches out and rests softly in his cold one. But the contact is not like between a living and a dead one.

Another thing she noticed.

Ferid is not a dead man wounded by vampirism. He is a living man wounded by the dead world.

From here, Ferid continues to welcome her like that.

Books read together, many books read in that intimate, simple room.

He is no longer afraid to look her in the eye. The man smiles lightly, serenely. Ferid is quiet. He knows that beyond those eyes there is love for the real him. That is why Ferid cherishes that look and every moment he can spend with her.

It is a situation he has never encountered before and it is difficult for him. But happiness comes and from that is born a warm tenderness, which Ferid finally has someone to give it to.

The world is putrid and unforgiving, however, as she tells him.

"I too am a part of the world"

Ferid tries to unravel this paradox, where a genuine love for someone like him is born out of a world that should not have such a thing.

His only logical response is that she is his world.

And Ferid decides that he must protect this world that looks lovingly back at him.

The only love that does not betray him.

NOTES: this is adorable I agree (*￣︶￣) yūichirō seems like a strength of his would definitely be childcare/babysitting because he has a deep love for family and likely cared for his siblings during the four years spent in sanguinem. I can also see angst potential because he can protect her but he can't become a helicopter parent meaning she could be told literally anything true or not right under his nose and he wouldn't know BUT I'LL SPARE YOU FROM THE SAD

Yūichirō's first nights outside are utter hell. He has nightmares, you have nightmares. It gets so bad, Guren moves you both to the same room where you crawl into his bed and curl up in his arms for comfort and safety, enveloped by warmth. Yū knows that if nothing else, he has the one other child he had managed to escape with, and that's far better than being all alone. He can hold you tightly, and every time he wakes up you will be right there, right where he can touch you and know you're real. He dreams sometimes of Ferid coming back to get his hands on you, and it terrifies him. He can't handle waking up to you gone, even when it's just an innocent trip to the bathroom. He runs straight to Guren to look for you, and more often than not it's only a few minutes of panic before you're returned safe and sound and he hugs you too tightly so that you can barely breathe.

things get better as you both adjust to your lives, and you eventually migrate out of his bed, though not straying too far as you remain within the same room. He feels safer this way, able to look down at a moment's notice and see you fast asleep there, sometimes climbing down to check up on you. It doesn't happen nearly as often however. His schedule is never set in stone, but the one thing he does know is that every morning he wakes up and you're either in bed fast asleep or you got so restless that you went to find Guren sometimes in the night.

as soon as he finds you he walks you to school, a place he would get bored to death in, but thinks is best for you. There you're safe, not to mention surrounded by other people, all quite capable. If nothing else, you might pick up something extraordinary there. You have a very set out schedule, between school, walking yourself home and waiting for him to come back from his duty he so clearly exaggerates the importance of to you. It's a little bit cute, but regardless of what he actually does for his work he's always home on time, which worries you since it means he either doesn't have friends or keeps blowing them off for you.

he wants to know absolutely everything about your day, with not a word to spare about him, "More patrols" is all he usually says and brushes it off just to hear about what you did in class, to show an interest in the things you did. He wants to know how well you can read and write, knowing you're behind on that, he also wants to know where you went and all about your teachers, how boring they were that day and you laugh together over some silly prank one of your classmates pulled.

you always used to feel antsy at school, like you couldn't focus properly, and you kept wandering to find anyone willing to listen to a little ten-year-old asking about someone named Yūichirō, thankfully infamous for his troublemaking. He was easy to pull away and return to you so you could cry to him about how worried you were to leave again and let him go outside.

his perspective of the incident manifests itself into anger and hatred, while yours roots itself in fear, the pounding of your heartbeat loud in your ears and the growing anxiety that you would never be safe should he decide to finish the job.

yū would always sit you down and try to assure you you were too far away to be chased, and even if you were it was unlikely seeing as someone would always be in his way before he could even make it to the city. It never quite stuck but you knew he was close by, and as you overheard another guard tell him you were only young, it was natural for you to be scared all by yourself, if he didn't start being harsher on you you would be in the ways of his duties.

he never has grown harsher, nor does he raise his voice at you, he spends most of the time in the day out. School is your babysitter, but on his days off he has convinced you to skip school several times to go out for ice cream. He's not exactly the best of influences, but he definitely makes those days fun for you, even if you return to a scolding from your teachers and from Guren if you're caught in the act. Running away from him is the best part.

there are still many days you find yourself climbing up into his bed, the days you're afraid of your own thoughts, and he knows you just want comfort. As soon as he realises you're there he rolls over to treat it the same way you did when you were younger, stroking your back and letting you cuddle up to him where you'll be warmest and feel safest.

then come the times he's suspended and is remanded to attend school with you—miserable about it, but there—until his position within the army can be assessed properly. All he does is follow you around all day outside of his classes, regardless of whether or not you're with friends, and you begin to notice a girl following him around a little more subtly than he could ever be with you. You know there's no way she has a crush on him, and if she does she's probably weird.

he always wants your help studying, and sits on the rooftop with you during lunch time to go over all of the things he needs to remember for his next classes, as well as memorising the kanji used to write the answers and their correct stroke orders. You spend a lot of time on that, trying to expand his knowledge on the readings and writings of the material to help him follow along more, and he tries to listen closer to you because of the fact you're going out of your way to help. Once, then twice, then for the third time you let him try it for himself, the fourth is another careful guide in which you add numbers to each of the strokes before he revises his try on the fifth.

apparently he hasn't noticed this girl or at least doesn't mention her, but he seems to be enjoying his time, you've noticed and he tries his best to care for you there too as he reminds you to eat as much of your lunch as you can and spend time with your friends. He's not so selfish to keep all of your attention when you've already been attending school for longer than him and have things figured out, but some days he offers to carry you home on his back after school, as long as you don't have plans.

that was a fun time, and you tried to help him get friends of his own, but as it turned out stepping back to let him blossom on his own. He got friends, but never strayed too far as he made sure you were taken care of, and then he transferred to different classes than you and you returned to your old routine, though beginning to walk to school together up until he was reinstated. The last time you see him is to wish him goodbye, though only for now, as you wave to him and his squad about to head off on an expedition to another city from the safety of a soldier's side soon to escort you back to school.

together you escaped a hell on earth, and together you will brave the road ahead of it if it means you're alive, but for the time being your job is to learn how to help him as you are now while he fights to keep your home safe.
