Share about your wings!!
I’d love to hear about your wings, how large they are, the colours, types of flying- do they look like a known bird? or are they like no other bird’s wings? are they fluffy? would they be good for gliding, or fast flying?
Please share in the comments (:
(p.s. I have kea wings, they’re quite downy on the inside but they’re broad wings good for soaring! Keas are alpine parrots, and their flight style consists of that similar to a grey parrot or a hawk- lots of gliding and flapping. They’re agile flyers but can’t glide for toooo long! good at catching thermals- their feathers are also very rounded and almost irridescent)

Hello my beautiful birds!
I have a very, very great app to share with you today. It is called Ultimate Bird Sim, available for IOS and GooglePlay. Let me begin by just saying that this alone has helped my dysphoria a tenthfold. The designers did a great job animating appropriate flight patterns for each species. You can hunt, fish, forage, fly, soar, build nests, explore four different “islands”, and raise a family. You can dominate a mate or bond with them over food. The game does cost 99 cents, but in all honesty, it is the best dollar I have ever spent on an app. I highly recommend it for birds!

You will fly again, dear siblings. Even if we are right now trapped in flightless bodies, one day we will fly home.

Basically, if you’re a humanoid with wings, and you have memories of invasive medical procedures and being raised in a laboratory for the early years of your life, please come talk to me because same?

[infodump 6] self care for people with wings <3
- special preening brushes can be bought, they’re like,, beaks but you use them like a hair straightener? Have teeny tiny fine brushes on the inside to make sure your feathers aren’t ruffled, you hold them in your hand (not attached to your face like an actual beak asjkfkfa)
- you can buy preening oil/preening powder depending on your wing type- some birds have preening oil glands that ensure their feathers are waterproof, while others have powder down (feathers that secret a preening powder) but people can buy these products to make their feathers extra nice (:
- feather shampoo! gentol,, so no feather damage
- make sure to wash the areas around where your feathers sprout, so there's no nasties (:
- brush the fluffy underdown on the very inside of your wings, don't want it to get tangled or matted
- spray your feathers with waterproofing oil so they don’t get soggy or damp if it rains or is humid
- people warm their wings in the hot sun/by a heater/fireplace and wrap them around themselves like a warm blanket
- parents/caregivers comb the moulting feathers from their children when they moult so as to not cause problems later (feathers shedding in their sheets, sneezing etc)

Therian Day for the Birds
If you weren’t already aware, therian day is November 4! We are all excited, and in honor of our little “holiday”, I’ve decided to extend a few tips for our birds. Of course, these tips are good for any day as well!
Things to do outside:
Climb trees, if you’re able! If your ‘type is an avid perching species, this is a wonderful way to feel closer to home. Likewise, it is also a good reminder of flight.
Go for a bike ride! Feeling the wind in your fea– I mean hair, is another great way to simulate flight. Alternatively, going for a ride in the car with the windows down can replicate the same feeling without the physical aspect.
Spend time near lakes or rivers if your ‘type frequented those areas more often than trees.
Collect twigs, moss, pebbles, or anything else to replicate what your nest looked like. It can be a nice crafty idea, trying your hands at weaving, while feeling avian.
Go birdwatching! This can attribute to a good deal of shiftiness.
Things to do Inside
Listen to soundtracks from your habitat! Alternatively, you can watch documentaries regarding your theriotype if you can find them!
Watch movies or read books pertaining to your type if they are available to you.
Create art based on your theriotype! If you aren’t the artsy type, you can make a photo collage instead.
Bundle up, this can replicate the feeling of fluffing up/rousing your feathers!
Replicate a nest out of pillows and blankets! Alternatively, if your theriotype nests in a cavity, you can build a fort.
Concoct food and/or drink recipes that align with your theriotype’s diet! You can feel more birdy, and get creative in the kitchen!
Enjoy, my fellow avians! I hope everyone has a lovely day tomorrow!

Hey birds! I wanted to share a fantastic flight and bird life simulator that is free on Roblox. It’s called Bird Simulator by Avian Skies. You begin as a house finch, and level up from there. As you achieve higher levels and earn coins, you can choose to be different species like crows, eagles, hummingbirds, owls, and more! Each species has its own unique food set that you must forage and/or hunt for. You can also zoom into your bird so that you are flying and moving from your point of view.
You can fly in all directions, turn on a dime, perch, call, glide & soar, and dive. It is a survival-oriented game, meaning you must avoid predators and find food and water to live. The possibilities are virtually endless, and it is a very fun, free way to simulate birdy feelings. Enjoy!

Avian Therian Resource
One site that I always have, and always will refer to is as follows:
http://birdsofafeather.feralscribes.org
Birds of a Feather has a plethora of essays composed by bird-people, for bird-people. This also includes bird-like otherkin, phoenixes, and the like. It’s not specific to just therianthropes. I highly recommend familiarizing yourselves with the content, as the essays I’ve thus far read have really resonated with me in a way beyond words can describe. The diction of the articles especially, are very relatable in an avain mindset. It is quite unfortuantely no longer active, but the essays are still in place.
Enjoy!

Taking aesthetic requests
I’d love to make some aesthetics for my lovely birds. They’re nothing super professional, but I thought I’d have some fun with them 🐣

Hello!
We are currently a sideblog under construction to further resources and relatable content for birdkin and bird therians. Because bird-people are a minority in the therian community, we can often feel alienated even from our own community. There is a lack of blogs available for us, and I figured what better way to fix that, than begin our own!
Welcome! This blog is primarily for birds, but everyone is welcome so long as you are respectful :)
