im personally a “william afton was a decent father and person but then something extremely tragic happened and it made him snap” truther. Idk about yall but it just feels right.

im not a big fan of “yeah he’s just a crazy man who went on a murder spree for shits and giggles” because it feels so lazy??

I see him as a guy who at one point had it all - a wonderful family and a growing business with his good buddy, and then someone died and it made him desperate to bring them back (whether that be CC, Elizabeth, or even potentially his former wife? I say this because in all of the Fazbear Frights books, there’s seemingly always a dead parent and atp it can’t just be a plot point for storytelling.) and in doing so, he became a killer.

I feel like people gloss over that he’s canonically afraid of dying because he knows that he’ll go to hell for his sins (The fourth closet). In experimenting with remnant and all that, he realized he could immortalize himself. The quest to bring back a loved one spiraled into him becoming a cold blooded killer who fears what consequences lie ahead when he dies.

(this is just a rant from someone who's been in the fandom since 2014, no ill will towards anyone)

Especially the book part, I don't know when or how such a big part of the community got it into their head that any of the books were canon to the games and lashing out at people who disagree, when it clearly states on the books themselves that they are just short stories in-universe, never saying it's part of the game canon.

Even Scott himself has said the books were there to help us understand aspects of the lore and that they aren't canon. This applies to all of them, not just the trilogy.

Taking the short stories themselves at face value loses so much of it's nuance and what makes them enjoyable in the first place. There are so many great parallels for the in game characters and concepts that add depth to the games or explain things that we may have missed or misinterpreted, straight up putting the stories in-game would make no sense.

I think a lot of this comes from people taking things too literally when FNAF has always been more abstract. If they were canon it would also needlessly convolute things so much more, the simple answer is often the correct one, in Mr. Hippo's words "Sometimes, a story is just a story."

FnaF 3 taking 30 years after the first game was kinda cool because that’s a long enough period for 1 & 2 to fall into being urban legends and is enough to justify (but still f*cked up) to open a horror attraction based on Freddy’s. The problem arose with Sister Location because that means Micheal and Ennard were around terrorizing Utah for 30+ years until Fazbear’s Fright burned down and Freddy Fazbear Pizza Place suddenly opens (Would it be weird for me to say that Fazbear Entertainment still being around doesn’t feel right? I felt like by 3 they were completely gone and it’s just a bunch of goons breaking into their long abandoned restaurants and taking items as props for their shitty/insensitive horror attraction, felt like a completely new company should’ve been the one’s to reintroduce Freddy’s to the modern era).

so in the Fourth Closet Cassidy was described as having long black hair

but if you buy the version with illustrations, you see her with a light brown ponytail

however, in the book Susie speaks on Cassidy’s behalf at the beginning, inferring some kind of friendship between them both. also a small side note is that it was theorised Golden Freddy (possessed by Cassidy) was in the kitchen for a majority of the first game which is why she’s never seen on cameras and the only other animatronic who entered the kitchen was Chica (possessed by Susie). this could imply that the girls are close to some degree.

now, back to Cassidy’s light brown ponytail. we’ve never seen her portrayed with anything other than black hair (even as Andrew) before this, so why is she suddenly brown haired? i was rereading my Fazbear’s Frights books the other day while trying to bring Cassy to front and i remembered something from the 4th book (Step Closer, Coming Home). Susie’s sister, Samantha, also had a light brown ponytail. it’s a stretch for sure but you never know in this damn franchise.

Susie and Samantha were close, with Susie pushing to keep the relationship and Samantha allowing it because she wanted Susie to be happy no matter how annoying she could be. Cassidy is also considered to be too focused on tormenting Afton to allow the others build a relationship with her, but she still cared for them (as seen in the springlock incident) so wouldn’t push them away

Samantha also allowed Susie to play in her room, which could hint to the kitchen ordeal

in UCN, Susie says that “she was the first”, and in Coming Home, Susie dies and leaves Samantha alone (also classmates from around their age are still alive and well, possibly referencing the other missing kids?)

anyways in conclusion to this long ramble, Susie and Cassidy might be siblings. how did i get here? fuck if i know. is it canon? probably not, just another coincidence, but it’s a headcanon opportunity if nothing else. hope you all enjoyed this bullshit ramble!
