Let's talk more fashion: who are your top ten fictional characters with the best style 🥰
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Right off the bat I have to go with Carrie Bradshaw. She annoyed me to no end for most of the series (apart from that one episode where she went to a house party and someone stole her shoes and she insisted that the guests pay her back for them) but I'd be lying if I said that her outfits don't continue to be iconic and they are always going to be a huge chapter of costume design and fashion. Patricia Field really is THAT woman.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Rachel Green my forever girl has to be number 2. I love so many things about her style and how it evolves throughout the seasons. In the early days it was jeans, T-Shirts and overalls but in such a chic and 90's way and then as she starts working in fashion and growing more into a more grownup version of herself she has an amazing office wardrobe that I still take inspo from. I also love all her slip dresses.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Meave Maisel. I started watching The Marvelous Mrs Maisel mainly because of the clothes and the fact that it was written by Amy Sherman Palladino and I stayed for as long as I did for the clothes as well. I believe the plot got a bit tired and the creators got distracted by the fact that the budget kept getting bigger so therefore they thought the show should be getting flashier instead of more human and funny but you'll never catch me complaining about the costumes because, well look at them!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Lisa Fremont. LISTEN. The costumes in this movie (which is Rear Window, directed by Alfred Hitchcock) are my Roman Empire. Especially the black and white dress combined with Grace Kelly's incredible beauty makes it one of the most iconic fashion moments in cinema history and we should give Edith Head (the costume designer) her flowers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. Fran Fine. It took me a while to realize what an absolute fashion icon this woman is because I didn't watch The Nanny as a kid or teenager (I still haven't watched all of it and I plan on making it right eventually) but omg the absolute serve after serve after serve AFTER SERVE. Plus, that body is bodying. And a special mention to this particular outfit which is all of my dreams coming true:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
6. Issa from Insecure
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This show's entire costume department deserved all the Emmys, Oscars, Tonys, just everything but Issa's style was always my absolute favorite because it was so versatile and reflected on her character journey as well. Plus I loved the fact that even when she had a casual look on, there were still so many smart details about it. Argh I miss Insecure so much I need Issa Rae back on my screen immediately.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
7. Daisy Jones. This character has had a tight grip on my heart ever since I read the book and I knew I'd love her when I watched the tv adaptation but I didn't expect to love her to the point I spent all of last spring trying to find pieces to recreate her entire cool girl hippy wardrobe. And also I just have to mention this "gold dust woman" moment because it was arguably the most iconic outfit of them all
Tumblr media
8. Holly Golightly
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't think I need to say too much about her to be honest do I? Audrey Hepburn is literally a work of art, in this movie and in general. My maybe somewhat unpopular opinion is that the pink outfit is my favorite one :')
Honourable mentions:
Monica Geller/ Blair Waldorf/ Cher Horowitz/ Zoe from Grownish (I hate the show though)/ Devi from Never Have I Ever/ Hilary Banks from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

"Y/N! come on! we're gonna be late!" Max shouts at your doorstep, arms crossed, her foot keep patting repeatedly on the ground surface
You can feel her getting impatient so you speeding up as fast you as you could
She moves her sleeves up to check on her watch and it's 7:15am, she groans and begins to pace around at your front porch
Class starts at 7:30am
She doesn't want to be a part of community service again for a damn week because of tardiness
"In a minute!" you check yourself one last time on the mirror and you locked up the house and you put the keys on your pocket
she sighs of relief, while going down at the stairs
You don't even understand why you became bestfriends in the first place, both of you are the exact opposite
You're a joyful person and Max is.... well... Mad Max
You immediately lock your arms around her forearm and you say sweetly "I'm sorry, Max won't happen again, I promise"
She rolls her eyes "you know, I can't stay mad at you"
She finally smiles at you and you giggled
"Ah- there she is! My bestie!" You bounce up and down in excitement and she goes back again to her formal self
"Oh please!" She sneers, you both go up at the school bus sitting next to each other
Later in Art Class
"I have already decided the pairings for the whole class" your favorite teacher, Ms, Amelia- spoke with a smile that she knew some of the students won't agree on this
All of your classmates complain but you don't mind it
You look around at the room and it seems you already become an acquaintance to them, but there's one that catches your eye
He's sinking back on the chair, doodling something on his notebook, chains are hitting the metal chair, obviously not aware of the situation
"Edward Munson! Oh my god- this is perfect!" You think to yourself
You grin to yourself thinking that this could be the opportunity to finally get to know each other
You already have shared some casual interactions but never bonded that much
You wanted to be friends with him so badly ever since Dustin, Mike, Lucas talked a lot about him
Your mind is overflowing with ideas to hang out with him, you didn't even hear your teacher announcing your partners
"Y/N L/N, you will be pairing with Edward Munson" Ms. Amelia says while she pushed back her reading glasses from sliding off, she flips the next page
you only hum in response, but you closed your notebook and your eyes goes wide
You need to double check again just to see that you didn't just misheard it
"I'm sorry? Come again? Miss?"
"Your partner will be Edward Munson" she says with her eyebrows raised at you, she uses her pen to direct where Eddie is
Your mouth agape and you smiled and you squealed with "Yay!"
"What do you mean, Yay?" Max turns to you look at you while her head is laying at her arms resting on it
"Eddie Munson is going to be my partner!" You say not looking at her, you kept your eyes on the metalhead still doodling
Max follows your gaze, she raises her head and prop up her arm and rest her chin on it
"Well, Iooks like we have the same situation"
You turn around to face her and you lean in with your eyes gleaming with curiosity
"And that is?"
"I am paired with Gareth" she snorted
You knew that Eddie has a band called "Corroded Coffin" and you always been so interested to know about more of his favorites ever since you found out about his music taste
You gasped "Oh my god! We're twinning!"
She laughs at your enthusiasm "I've never seen anyone else in this room has the amount of excitement as you do"
"I just love to interact with people that I hardly knew, I mean- you'll never what you could miss, that person might become your bestfriend"
"That's true" she replies while tapping her pen on her desk
"and without this trait of mine, we wouldn't to have this friendship" you smirk
Max eyes might stuck for rolling her eyes too much "Alright, alright, I get it!"
"You'll be presenting a piece that shows the meaning behind your friendship for the partners that I have given for you" Ms. Amelia explains
You nudged Max's arm and she scoff but couldn't contain her smile
"See? I told you, coincidence? I think not" you whispered and she snickers
"Y/N? Are you with us?" She sighs while shaking her head
"Yes ma'am, I'm very much present" you pressed your lips together trying not to laugh and Max hides her face on her hands as she shakes from laughing
The bell rings, art class is dismissed
Max told you that she'll meet you at the cafeteria, she'll be meeting up with Lucas
"Oh, I tell him I said "Hi"
"I will!" she waves bye at you and you nod at her
You pack up your stuff and you put your bagpack, you walk towards to Eddie, he's also putting his things on his bag
"Hello" you say with a warm smile
He stopped to what he was doing when he heard that familiar voice
He lift up his head and locked eyes with you
The struggle with Eddie is that, he is very intense with eye contact
Less talking, more on eye contact
You seriously don't have a thing for Eddie, right?
You break the silence by saying "I'm your partner for the project?"
"o-oh, it's you, Y/N" he completely ignores of what you just pointed out but you don't care about it anyways
He zips his bag and put over his shoulder
"Good, you remember me!" you clasp your hands together with a grin on your face
He stammers "Of course, I do remember, y-you're friends with Max, right?"
He winces slightly, "Damn- why is this so hard?" He thinks to himself
He wants to keep the conversation going but he is too shy to talk to you normally
Talking to you somehow it seems to hard for him
You got him all tongue-tied up
"Yeah" you nod at him, your hands gripping on the bagpack straps
"Okay, so about the project, maybe we could...." You trail off, your eyes are on the ceiling thinking
Eddie watches you, if you could read his mind, he is panicking, why? he doesn't know how to act whenever you're around
You didn't get the chance to notice it but you have this feeling that you will be the best of friends
You're so sure of it
You look back at him, "Ah! How about we hang out and while we're doing it, maybe will get ideas from there?"
"What do you think?"
He blinked "U-Uh yeah, that sounds good"
You smiled at him and you walked away
He just watches you and he furrows his brows when you turned around and you notice that he's not with you
"Well, come along then!" You gesture your hand to motioning to follow you while standing on the doorframe
He forgotten that it's lunchtime
He scrambles up to his feet, almost tripped, catching up with you
You both walk together at the cafeteria, you spot Max already talking to Gareth and she waves at you
You wiggle your fingers at her and you hook your arm over at Eddie's forearm, he blushed
You passed a tray for him, and he just sheepishly smiles at the kind gesture
You're wearing a polo with a velvet maroon vest with pleated black skirt, your hair is curled with a red ribbon on top, small black boots
Your bag is black heart shaped like bagpack
Your style is clearly not his style but you definitely know how to dress up, he likes it
After you both picked up your food, you asked
"Can I sit with you?"
"Y-yes, you can"
You give him a cheesy grin and you sat down where Max and Gareth is
Jeff, Lucas, Mike and Dustin are there on the same table as well
"Y/N!" Dustin says with a sing-song tone, he drops his bag of chips, as he leans in to hug you
Mike's eyes shines with the same energy you have
You made the secret handshake with Lucas and all of you share a laugh
Duff just gave you a squeeze at your shoulder before he settles down and you smiled at him
Eddie watches you again, you bring so much life at the table
His heart flutters at the sight of you interacting with his friends
"So, Eddie- you're partners with Y/N" Gareth says plainly
"Y-yeah"
"Could Y/N bring out the best of you?" Jeff smirks at Duff
"What do you guys mean?"
"Man, cut the bullshit- you're always this blushing mess whenever you're with her" Duff exclaims while chomping down his food
"Oh- see?" Gareth points his rose-tinted cheeks and Eddie swats his fingers off and Jeff laughs
"We're just friends" he grumbles, while he aggressively stabs the piece of chicken with the use of fork on his plate
"We'll see about that, man" Jeff chuckles at his friend in his denial statement
Before you leave, you told Max that you'll see her at the ladies restroom
"Edward" the 3 of his friends chortled at what you just called him and he cringes
You laugh as well "Okay, I seem to get to know that you didn't liked that, now- that's a start"
You sat down beside him for a while and you just pretend that you didn't see his friends clearly spying on the both of you
They're not playing good for keep it low-key
"Just call me, Eddie" he says while finishing his drink
"Okay, can I also call you, Joe?"
He puts down his cup and a smile grows on his lips and he clears his throat
"No one else called me that before"
"Oh really? then I'm the first" he smiles at you
He got the prettiest smile, don't he?
"Sabrina" he blurted out
"What?"
"Since you got me a nickname, so I figured, I can call you Sabrina from Audrey-" you cut him off
"Hepburn film!" You finished his sentence with your lips apart
"I didn't knew you watch classic old Hollywood films" your voice is so loud in excitement, you didn't even care about it
"There's a lot of things you don't know about me" he manages to wink at you, it gave him the confidence after you geeked out in front of him
"Well, I'm willing to know all about it!" You say while you search for a pen on the pocket of your bag
You tear out a piece of paper and you wrote your phone number on it
"Here's my number, you can call me whenever we make this project" you hand out it to him
You graze your fingertips to him and it shoots an unexplainable feeling through your core
He looks down at it and his eyes are big like he couldn't believe that this is happening
"I'll see you later, Joe" you rest your hand on his shoulder and you smiled
He watches you leave, his heart might have been stopped every minute you talk to him
His friends are sniggering behind his back and he shuts his eyes closed
"Still denying that you don't have feelings for her?" Duff says with a teasing tone
"Oh- shut the fuck up, Duff!" Eddie shouts at him and they throw their heads back in laughter
The next day....
Eddie is leaning against his RV van on the front in the school's parking lot
Chewing on some gum while he reads "Batman" comic book
A faint music coming from his RV van, it's Depeche Mode - Strangelove
"What are you listening to?" you open the door and he removes himself and he quickly closed off his comic book and goes to you
"You're listening to Depeche Mode?" both of your eyebrows raised and you grinned
"Y-yeah, I am" he shyly repiles, both hands we're on the comic book, he gripped it so hard it might tear apart
"I love Depeche Mode" you say with a smile and you sat down on the passenger seat and you look over to his cassette tapes
Picking it up on every tape with a curious look on your face
He scratches his forehead and runs over to the driver's seat
"Why am I so stressed out?" he thinks to himself
"Just be cool, Munson" he muttered
Once he opens the door, you say "No way! You also listen to Queen?"
You hold up the "Night At The Opera" tape with a excited smile
He just chuckles and he just loves it when you're so energetic about the simplest of things
You hum on the chorus line of Depeche Mode - Strangelove still playing
while you settle down, placing both of your hands on your thighs as you drum the beats of the song
Eddie is now very self-conscious about his RV being messy but you don't seem to mind it, you feel at home
You eye the comic book that he just put on the dashboard and your eyes are now filling up with so much chaotic explosion of geekiness
"Ahhh!" You shrieked and he jumps out of his seat, he acts like a child which is so funny and..... cute?
You laugh out loud while you throw your head back at the seat and he just grows completely flustered
He had a minute to recollect himself until he is now also laughing of what just happened
"I'm sorry" is the only thing you manage to say, you're still breathless from your laughter until you calmed down yourself, fixing your position on the seat, straighten yourself up
Eddie just continues to laugh while he hides his face on his hands, peeking out to look at you, you're also staring at him, while you're pressing your lips together to stop your another wave of serotonin
You patted down on his shoulder, you reach out for the comic book on the dashboard and you flipped the pages, a smile tugs at your lips
"Stop" you mumbled
"What?" Eddie thought he might've done something wrong but a smirk is sitting on your face
"You also like Batman? We have so much in common right now" you say while you shook your head in unbelievable manner
"What's your favorite comics? DC or Marvel?" he asked, while watching you still flipping through the pages on the comic book
You slam the comic down on your thighs with your jaw dropped "That's like the hardest question ever!" you pushed him on the chest playfully and he chortled
You rolled your eyes at him and you pick it up the book again
"I mean- come on, there's gotta be a-
Your eyes are still on the comic book while you put your hand on his face to shut him up making him all giggly and shit
"That's the most impossible question ever, Joe" you say, your hands are still on his face
His voice is a bit muffled but audible "Okay, you win, let me hear your thoughts"
"I grew up to both that's why it's hard to pick!" you pushed his face away and he chuckles in the process while he reaches to your hand and he holds it for a while
"I love Spiderman, Iron Man, obviously I like Thor and Wonder Woman, Aquaman, the whole damn Avengers and Justice League" you say as you finally placed the comic book on the dashboard to where it was before
He nods while listening to you, and girl- he is still holding your damn hand, why is that?
He is now caressing it with his thumb, oh gosh
"Say, um-" he began and you look at him waiting for what he has to say
"We can eat pizza after school" he put his other hand on top of yours, he looks at you very directly
Your heart spluttering in a beat that you could never understand
"Uh- sure, Joe" you shrug with a pleasing smile on your face and it warms his heart seeing it everytime
The bell rang and you slipped off from his hold and maybe it's just your brain messing with you
Did he just frown slightly when he can't feel your hand over his anymore?
You go down from the passenger seat and you say
"What's your favorite comics, then?" You smirk, repeating the same question to him and he smiled
He squints his eyes for thinking a bit for a moment, "I'd say both too" he shrugs
"Really?"
"Yeah, my uncle owns a Venom comic book" he winks at you and you laugh in disbelief
"What? It's the truth? I have proof- I could show it you" he says with a confused expression
You breathy laughed "Okay, fine- Joe, I believe you, I'll see you later-
"Alligator" he finishes it and you snorted while turning back at him, heading towards at the school's entrance
You both shared a couple of laughs together, shared some stories about each other's lives
Eddie watches you pulling the stretchy cheese out of the pizza and you throw your head backwards as you raise up your hand to eat it
He dust off the crumbs out of his hands as he kept his eyes on you
You're giggling about the story that he almost punched Gareth for scaring him, one time at a band practice
He has very active reflexes, he warned you not doing the same thing that his friend had done
"Of course, I wouldn't do that to you, Joe" you cackled and while licking off your fingers from the residue of the pizza, you take a sip of your soda
There's two slices left of the pepperoni pizza, he gave you the other half, you mumbled a soft "Thank you"
"Okay" he starts "besides Audrey Hepburn, what else do you like to watch?" he finishes with his mouth full
"Hmm" you hum while taking a bite from the crust of the pizza "Can't Buy Me Love by Patrick Dempsey is really nice"
"Oh, you're also into that kind of teen movies, huh?" he licks off the crumbs from his lips while he reaches for the tissues
"Yeah, I do" you swallowed "Some of the teen movies, I relate to it a lot especially when it's John Hughes" you say
"John Hughes is the man!" He put his hand over his head making a mind blowing motion and you laughed
"Yes, he is" you chortled
"I just- I love everything about art in general, you know? I love music, films, paintings...." You trail off while letting out a sigh as you lay your back against the seat
His eyes you for a minute, admiring how you look tonight as if he didn't saw you earlier at school
"I know what you mean by that, Sabrina"
You look into his eyes and you smile, oh- god he always loved your smile
You lean forward with both of your arms propped up as you crossed your hands together resting your chin on top of it as you say "ooooh- tell me about your music? like what else do you enjoy listening?"
He popped a spearmint chewing gum on his mouth and he offers you a stick and you kindly accept it
He chuckles and shook his head "I think you already know what I'm listening to" gesturing to his outfit
You rolled your eyes at him and he laughed "No, I'm serious! Eddie!" you slammed your hands on the table with a raised eyebrow
"Woah, okay since you called me by my real name, fine" he held his hands up but can't help smirking at you
"I love Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple and all that jazz" he plays with his fingers by waving it ridiculously and you giggled
"I do enjoy listening to Earth, Wind & Fire and Tears For Fears" he shuts his eyes while opening the other one slowly, he thinks that you judge him for it but you didn't
Instead, he saw you- almost like heart eyes of what he just said
"Aha! I knew it you're a music lover just like me!" you cupped your face together and you flash out an elated smile at him
He finally opens his eyes as he chuckles softly
"What did you mean?" He asks
You tilt your head at him "You know" you shrug
"No- I don't" his eyes goes side to side as confusion takes over him
"You're open to all music genres! that's what a real musician is!" You wink at him and he blinked, he covers his flaming hot red cheeks with his hair hoping that you didn't get to see it
And yep, you didn't saw it- how freaking clueless you are
"You knew that I play guitar?" He asks, while scratching his head
"Duh, you have band called Corroded Coffin right?" You wipe your lips with tissue paper
"Y-yeah, I do" he smiles
"And I know for sure, you will do great things"
Oh- his love for you continues to grow and grow
"Really?" He squints his eyes as he asks again
"Really, really" you smiled at him
He invited you to come at Jeff's party and he didn't expect that you will indeed come
*Michael Jackson - P.Y.T (Pretty Young Thing) playing at the background*
You dance across the floor and you let the music takes you into your system
Eddie is having another negative thoughts feeling that you won't hang out with him after the project, he double take when you caught him frowning
You tilt your head at him and he is taken a back and you smiled, he is confused
"Why so blue?"
"uh-" he stammers
You laughed "Come on, dance with me!"
You reach for his hand and you drag him, he just sways with you shyly
"Don't worry too much, Eddie"
He looks at you and listens
"There's so much to do while you're here in this world, so just have fun!" You say while you're bopping your head into the beat
He just continues to sway, you managed to brighten him up just like that- he loves watches you throughout the party
Your teacher gave you 2 weeks to finish your project
You insisted to buy all of the materials needed for it, Eddie wants to contribute but you take it down and you assure him you got it covered
You both take turns to sketch the picture on the illustration board
Eddie is the one who draw first, you're shocked when you saw his sketch, it's not yet finished but you already get the idea
You and him, both arms are hanging each other shoulders, looking around at all of the things you both love and enjoy
from music to films, you admire his creativity and talent
Eddie's heart skips a beat as he watches you complimenting his good work
Next Monday, is the deadline
while finishing up the project over at Eddie's trailer, you're now coloring the drawing that you both did together
He carefully putting more details on the picture as he pokes his tongue out in concentration
Your stomach is laying down flat on the mattress as you start to shade the drawings
You're hesitant to ask him but you put down the colored pencil on the side- "Eddie, I have a question" you say as you look at him at his behind
He's on the chair, dusting off the eraser residue at the table
"Shoot"
"Have you ever...." you look down for a sec and you blinked "fall in love?"
Yes, he did- it's you
The tip of his pencil breaks as you finished the last line, his breath catches from his throat
He slowly turns around, his eyes meet yours and you're waiting for an answer
He clears his throat, he can't even look into your eyes that long "Uh, I think- I" he stammers
"Dinner is ready! Come out and eat!" Wayne called
You glanced at the door and you get up from the bed but as soon as you reached for the doorknob
"I-I haven't experienced what it felt like- I don't think that I did" he answers
Dumbass
"Me either" you chuckled slightly, not turning around just yet
He looks at you from the back of your head "but I do know what love is"
You finally turn around at him with amused look at your face "You do?"
"Yeah" he smiles
Your face falters a bit and Eddie notices it "what is it? and also why are you asking me this?"
You shrug "it's just a thought, I just wanna know what you think"
Eddie nods, he hopes he had a chance with you
and then he blew it up
moments later, Eddie gave you a lift to go back at your place, he should've told you the truth
A minute that Eddie left, you've been pacing around your room, are you falling in love?
You're confused, you never had this before, you don't know what to do so....
You called Max to come over
You both catch up from all the things that happened
Max find out that Gareth wasn't so bad at all, she understands why Lucas likes him
He is very determined when playing D&D and sometimes when Eddie takes it too far he becomes even more dramatic
She also finds that they both love the film "Karate Kid", and you guys chatted with each other over an hour, you both laughed and gasp
Even you don't say anything, this is not your usual hang out together
Calling someone to come over means something else
"Come on, fess up, what's going on?" Her voice is in serious tone
You're both sitting on the top of your bed, you take a deep breath, you look down
"I think- I-I'm falling in love, Max" you raise your head slowly to meet her gaze
She immediately bounced from the bed "with whom?"
But before you can respond, you and Max looked at each other as she slapped her hand against her mouth with wide eyes as she realized
"Yeah" you chuckled unenthusiastically
"Eddie, huh?" she nods with a smirk from her face and you throw a pillow at her and she laughed
"I asked him if he ever falls in love"
"So? What did he say?"
"He said.... that he didn't?"
"Well, maybe he's just afraid of rejection"
"Rejection? that's bullshit, Eddie is really wonderful guy"
"Oh gosh, Y/N! You're so in love!"
You shoved your face with your hands, your voice became muffled under it "yeah, I'm definitely falling in love"
"What should I do?, if ever that happens"
"Just say what you feel"
"That's really hard, Max"
She giggles "No, I'm serious! Just say what you truly feel, you know, Lucas and I back then we lack of communication because both of us don't say what we really meant so end up arguing sometimes"
You gave her a squeeze from her shoulder as she sighs "ever since we started to say the truth with each other nothing has ever bad between us"
"I may not know, Eddie, that well but I've never seen him this happy like genuinely happy" she added
"You too, like I mean- you always been so cheerful person, building up everyone's mood, you remove the cloud from them" you both laughed when she gestures thunder with her hands
"You'll be okay, Y/N, you'll see"
"Thank you, Max"
you hugged before she left your house
It's Monday
You both presented your project so proudly and you both explain it so very well
"I found out that we both love almost everything that we enjoyed" you glanced over to Eddie and he smiled
"Over the course of hanging out together, I also found that Eddie is a really nice guy, he is not what you think he is" you emphasize the last line and he looks at you with so much adoration
"The best part is that I developed Friendship from him" you end your speech and Eddie is the next one
He sheepishly smiles at everyone
"Your turn, Munson" Ms. Amelia says as she grading your presentation
"What I like about Y/N is that she's so fun to hang out...."
He is lost for words when he meet your eyes again and you grinned at him
"S-she is so cool that she knows a lot of things better than me" you chuckled and you say sorry
"The best part is that whenever I'm with her, I forget everything that is killing me, when you're with Y/N all of your sadness will fade away"
You blinked at him, your heartbeat became shockingly rapid
You glanced at Max, she gives you a knowing look and you swallowed nervously
"She's so full of life, kind, thoughtful, really amazing" he said while he locked eyes with yours
"Ms. Amelia, I found-" the bell rings and everyone started to applause for a bit and get out of the class to eat lunch
"Impressive presentation" Ms. Amelia smiles at you as she gaves you the paper
You read the criteria and you guys both got an A+!
Eddie come cover to your side as he also jumped with excitement, pumping his fists in celebration
"We did it!"
"Yeah, we did!"
"We make a pretty good team, don't we?"
"You have no idea"
You both smiled each other and it felt like the time stopped, what is this feeling?
You look down becoming shy to look at his gaze again
"Oh, we go to the cafeteria now" you hold his hand dragging him out of the classroom
Eddie is appalled from your action and your touch, your hand is so soft and he can't stop staring that you're holding his hands
Dustin, Mike, Lucas, Max, Gareth, Jeff, and Duff congratulates the both of you
"Y/N does presentation so naturally, if only Gareth stopped laughing earlier" Max groans while she ates her sandwich
"He is always unserious" Duff snickers nudging Jeff's arm signaling that Eddie is so lovesick with you
The situation is even more laughable because you don't even see it, you don't even notice it
Eddie just sighs in content as he watches you flip your hair over your shoulder and giggle at Dustin's corny jokes
"Don't give him that Y/N!" Lucas exclaims
"Y/N is always bubbly, you know that Lucas" Mike chuckles
"I give the best jokes ever" Dustin smiles in satisfaction
The school's over, Eddie gave you a lift to get home and unexpectedly you hug him for the first time and you gave him a last squeeze before you let him go
"Thank you so much for everything, Eddie!"
"No Joe?" Eddie smirks
You laughed "You know what I mean" you smile
You turned around to walk inside but he spoke "Hey, Y/N"
You look over him at your shoulder "Yeah?"
"I-I just wanna say, I've had a great time"
"This won't be the last time since we're friends"
He doesn't want to be friends with you, he wants something more than that
His mood shifted a bit and you furrow your brows "yeah, um- goodnight, sweetheart"
"Goodnight, Eddie"
He didn't even take one last look at you before he left- that's new....
Out of nowhere, you caught a fatigue, your muscles felt sore, and you had a slight fever
You can't get up and your mom told you to skip the class today...
You check your temperature and it says 37.5 and you winced it while you look it
You throw your head back at the pillow and stare at the ceiling for a bit
There's this feeling inside of you like you're searching for something, are you longing for someone?
You turn on the other side and you shake your head at the thought of it
You gasped when the realization hits you
"I miss..... Eddie?"
You slowly get up and sat on the bed
"I love Eddie?" It sounds so new to you and it feels different but it's so good to say it out loud
You finally stand up on your feet and say "I love Eddie Munson!"
You seething at the pain you felt when you try to get up but you have to- you have to ate something for strength
So, you walk down headed towards at the kitchen
"Where is she?" Eddie kept tapping his pencil on his desk when he kept glancing at your empty seat
As if the more he stares at it, you might appear but you didn't
He is worried, you never missed a day in class, you never skip for no reason...
Eddie is now overthinking, he thought you didn't like the things he say over the presentation yesterday
Maybe, you're just late, maybe, you'll attend the next period
Turns out, you didn't as well
While walking down the school hallways, he looked over at your locker....
He is not used to this, not having you around
He supposed to get, warm smiles, he supposed to hear your sweet laughter, maybe even a hug, but he didn't get any of those today
"Uh- hey, Red- have you seen Y/N?" Eddie asks while lining up for lunch holding a tray
"No, I haven't since this morning, you know, I was supposed to ask you about her too, damn" Max shakes her head, as she raises her tray to place the meal plate on it
"I have to see her" Eddie can't calm down without knowing if you're okay or not
Max hides her face and smirks in excitement and she is thrilled about you had that effect on him
"Then you should go, right now" Max says plainly
"What?"
"I'll let you know what will happens throughout the last period, okay?" Max raises her eyebrows and gesturing to leave the cafeteria
"O-okay" Eddie runs away and leaves his tray
"Go get your girl, Munson!" Max giggles and she saw over at the table
Gareth, Jeff and Duff both share high-fives with each other and laughed
Lucas, Mike and Dustin their jaws dropped on the ground of shock
Lucas walks towards to Max "you have a lot of explanation to do"
She tuts "y'all blind, dumbasses" Max snorts
Eddie finally arrived at your doorstep
He breathes heavily while he places his hands over his knees
Catching up with his breath, he knocked at your door rapidly
You flinched at the couch while having a blanket hung around your shoulders
"Who could that be?" You headed towards the door and words caught up in your throat when you finally lay your eyes at the certain metalhead you've been looking for since morning
"Eddie-"
He shushes you "Please, let me explain"
"I don't know why you didn't come up to class today, I know why, because you told me, you just wanted to be friends but just listen to me- remember when we're making our project and you ask me if I fallen in love?"
You nod and you gulped
"I did, and it is you, Y/N"
You stare at him, he's telling the truth
"But I understand, you don't want to have me, I respect that, but I just wanna let you know that I do and I'll never regret that I told you what I really felt whenever I'm with you" he pauses, taking a deep breath
"I love when you pulled the melty cheese on the pizza, I love it when you ramble all about your faves, I love that you have the ability to make everyone's day happy, I love your smile, your hug, your laugh, I love you so much, Y/N"
Despite the bodyache, you're having- you feel like light as a feather- it's like you're above the clouds as he confesses his love for you
He waits for your response but you just remain silent, he turn away from you, holding up the tears from his eyes
"Eddie- wait"
He gasped and he turn around at you immediately, he is nervous of what you're about to say
"I think I.... I love you too" you let your happy tears fall and you sniffled and chuckle a little bit
"I know I was oblivious but everything seems clear to me now, I was confused and didn't understand back then.... but right now- it just feels right when I finally let myself feel it"
Eddie blinks and a smile grows on his lips as he moves closer to you
"I love y-" Eddie held the back of your head and he kisses your lips- you squealed as he pulls you closer, you close your eyes you kissed him back, you place your hand on his chest as he deepens it
By the time he touched your neck, it felt hot
He pulled back "Woah- woah, you're burning up, what- you have a fever?!"
You shyly smiled at him "y-yeah" you laughed
He connects all the dots and the awkward silence fills the air
"Damn" he chuckles, he scratches his neck
"That's why Max don't have any idea what's going on with you because you don't have the energy to tell her"
"Yup"
"And here I am, confessing my feelings for you" he grins awkwardly
"It was really cute and romantic! You don't have to be embarrassed by it!" You wrap your arms around him and he blushes
"You made me feel so good inside, I just want a girl just like you, such a pretty, pretty young thing" he says as he kisses your forehead
You became flustered at his words and you roll your eyes playfully "You can come inside, let's watch Sabrina?"
"Sure, on one condition" he holds up his index finger
You went quiet for a moment
"Let me take care for you, sweetheart" he held your cheeks
"That's the reason why you're here" you smile at him and he chortled
"My pretty young thing" he thinks to himself as you tagging him along inside
🎶I want to love you (P.Y.T) Pretty Young Thing, you need some lovin' (T.L.C) Tender Love and Care, and I'll take you there🎶

My favorite new-to-me movies of 2021
The Maltese Falcon
I was honestly surprised at how much I loved this movie.  I knew I’d enjoy it, but didn’t think I’d love it enough to almost immediately go out and buy myself a physical copy.  The story is completely engrossing, even with me knowing the twist, and having pretty much heard that final bit of dialogue between Humphrey Bogart and Mary Astor multiple times (we used the audio for a play I was in).  But despite knowing all that, I could not look away from the screen.  The actors are all amazing, but especially Bogart...this quickly became my favorite performance of his.
Tumblr media
Nomadland
This is a very interesting movie.  There’s not much to it when it comes to plot, and yet it is one of the most emotionally resonant movies I had seen in a long time.  It’s a movie made up of moments...little moments that feel like memories you’d keep for the rest of your life.  It made me cry multiple times, but always from these little moments...holding a baby, taking in the size of huge redwood trees or the intensity of the ocean...It may not be a movie I’d revisit again and again, but I’m 100% glad I took the time to watch it.  And Frances McDormand’s performance was incredible.
Tumblr media
How to Steal a Million
This movie is so much great!  I wish that the DVD wasn’t out of print, because I would buy it in a heartbeat (not via amazon, thank you).  This is the perfect movie to watch when you want some light-hearted fun.  Audrey Hepburn and Peter O’Toole have some really amazing chemistry in this fun and silly caper where they try to pull off a heist in a scheme that’s “so crazy, it just might work”.  And Audrey looks incredible in her fabulous mod wardrobe.
Tumblr media
The Little Foxes
A classic bitchy Bette Davis movie, if ever there was one.  This one had been on my list of movies to watch for a while, and I jumped at the chance to see it when it was scheduled for TCM.  Davis’ performance was excellent, of course, no one could play an unlikeable character the way she could.  But for my money, the best performance in the film came from Patricia Collinge as Aunt Birdie.  She played a woman who, while cheerful on the surface, was so desperately unhappy, so broken by her life that all she could do is hide away and drink.  She absolutely broke my heart.
Tumblr media
Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
Another movie that had been on my list forever!  I really enjoyed this movie and I feel like, if I ever get a copy of this one, this will be a great movie for me to have on in the background when I’m working on other things.  I’ve been wanting to watch more of Marilyn Monroe’s filmography lately, as I’d really only seen her more dramatic work in The Misfits, and I wanted to see more of what she was known for, her light-hearted comedies and romances.  This movie is a ton of fun to watch and the musical numbers are great!  And I love Monroe’s dynamic with Jane Russell.
Tumblr media
tick, tick...BOOM!
This may be my favorite movie of 2021.  Granted, I didn’t see a ton of actual new releases that year, but I think even if I had, I would have put this one near the top.  I’ve been a fan of this musical since 2007, when I was given the soundtrack by my roommate.  I’ve always liked it more than Rent (and honestly, my enjoyment of Rent has gone down as I’ve gotten older), and I think the story perfectly captures what it feels like to be an artist.  The idea that you work on something for a long time, potentially years, and having nothing really come of it.  And all you can do is move on to the next one, hoping that this will turn out better.  And having the story also focus on the fact that Jon is turning 30 really makes it more relatable...we've all thought that if we aren’t a success by the time we hit 30, we’re some kind of failure...especially working in the arts.  Actors worry that they won’t be able to play the ingenues anymore, dancers worry about the betrayal of their bodies,,,all the while, there’s a younger generation graduating from college ready to take on the world.  This movie really captures just how exhausting it can be.  But it also shows how rewarding it can be.  Andrew Garfield’s performance is out of this world, and even though Will Smith has been predicted to win Best Actor for a while, I would be so happy if Andrew Garfield won.  He’d never even really sung before and the fact that he did so well really impressed me.  And I have to give a shoutout to Robin de Jesus as Michael.  Where Andrew Garfield is full of manic energy, bouncing off the walls, Robin de Jesus is grounded...and they balance each other perfectly.

AssClass Halloween Costumes
Tumblr media
I’m a few days late lmao...but here we go 👻🎃
Karma: Edward Scissorhands. A classic. He goes all out in his costume and it looks really good...scary but awesome yeah. Waves his scissors in front of people’s faces to be annoying.
Isogai: The Phantom of the Opera. Gets complaints later from his fangirls that the mask was covering his “beautiful face.”
Okajima: A sexy devil costume. It’s not too revealing but it’s certainly quite feminine, which throws people off guard. But he struts with confidence and 3-E supports him all the way.
Okano: Princess Mononoke. She looks like such a badass with the wolf cape and the red markings on her cheeks.
Okuda: Mickey Mouse. She looks so so cute in the little overalls and gloves, and ear headbands. Matching with Kayano.
Kataoka: Audrey Hepburn. Sis got legs for days and the tights/heels emphasizes them even more. Turns so many girls gay, let’s be real.
Kayano: Minnie Mouse. She looks adorable in the dress and cute ears headband. She’s matching with her bestie Okuda UwU.
Kanzaki: Mario!! The comical handlebar mustache looks hilarious on her, and she’s just such a cutie in the outfit.
Kimura: a Mummy, who looks legitimately terrifying with dark makeup and gold contacts. Ends up having a crisis when he needs to pee but can’t get out of the wrapping.
Kurahashi: Belle from Beauty and the Beast. The yellow dress looks gorgeous on her. Lowkey wanted to ask Karasuma to be the beast, but thankfully, she didn’t.
Nagisa: Luke Skywalker. The tunic looks really adorable on him ngl, and his lightsaber is actually so cool. Half the night, his friends keep trying to steal it and play around. Didn’t expect to coordinate with Mimura but they take a bunch of great pics together uwu.
Sugaya: Doesn’t really dress up. But he has the best and most elaborate face makeup. Dude seriously looks like a monster or demon or whatever he intended. It looks so good and professional. Other than that, he’s wearing plain sweats he just threw fake blood on.
Sugino: A werewolf umpire, of course. He’s dressed in the baseball outfit with a scary mask on. Definitely gets called a furry by multiple people.
Takebayashi: KIRITO FROM SWORD ART ONLINE FSDJHKS. He spends forever (and with some help from Hara) on his costume, having the black trenchcoat and swords and everything. His hair is messy and unlike it’s usual style, and he lowkey gets some attention for his visuals.
Chiba: Howl Pendragon. He looks so charming in the outfit. Is he blonde or does he keep his dark hair? I can’t decide. Also Kaho is Sophie.
Terasaka: Totoro. He goes as Totoro. I’m not kidding at all. He may have lost a dare to his sister, and had to wear this giant onesie of the beloved character. But as much as he’s laughed at for the night, the joke is on everyone else. He (smugly) stays warm and cozy even when it starts to get more chilly.
Nakamura: A Zombie prom queen. Bought the dress part for the costume but she made the sash herself. And her makeup is on point, it’s so scary and good. Loves making guys squirm with creepy looks, then flirting with girls.
Hazama: A ghoul. But it’s literally the most horrifying, gut-wrenching costume ever seen. Straight out of a horror movie. Super detailed, makeup is on point and terrifying. Carries weapons and scares the shit out of everyone. Makes some people even pee, and cry.
Hayami: A cheetah, in a full body costume and hat with ears. She looks so GOOD. Her sharp eyes look even more bright and feline than usual in such a dark outfit.
Hara: A ballerina!!! She looks so pretty and angelic in her pink tutu outfit, and it highkey looks so professional too. She made it herself after all haha. But yes, our Hara is a pink princess, ok?
Fuwa: Piccolo. It’s ridiculously accurate and well-made. Halfway through the night, she changes to be a One Piece character.
Maehara: Thor. Let his hair grow out a bit just for this costume. Slings the hammer around everywhere and almost accidentally kills someone with it.
Mimura: Han Solo. It’s so accurate and well made...the only thing wrong is his height lmao.
Muramatsu: the KFC guy, except he keeps advertising his ramen shop to everyone at the same time.
Yada: a bloody Alice in Wonderland, with a basket full of cookies that she carries around, and a ripped apart white rabbit plushie.
Yoshida: Danny Zuko from Grease ADJHKS. Takes out his dreadlocks for the night to have a pompadour. All his friends roast him hard and say he looks no different than he usually does lmao. Itona voice: “Are leather jackets the only things you own?”
Ritsu: Who else would she go as other than the legend Hatsune Miku. Turns her hair blue too, and sings a couple songs for everyone.
Itona: Iron Man. He looks so cute ok, this tiny little 14 year old in a bulky superhero costume that doesn’t suit his face at all.
Korosensei: Tinkerbell. One of his favorite Disney characters. Totally rocks the green dress and blonde bun. But then he starts crying and whining when his students tease him. “Tinkerbell? How fitting, Sensei! You’re both such attention seekers!”
Irina + Karasuma: They go as a sexy vampire couple, much to Karasuma’s hesitance. They look really good though. He has to hold Irina back from killing someone when the students dub her a “trampire.”
Gakushuu: A skeleton, but it’s way more elaborate than it sounds. It’s like a very detailed black tux outfit, made of 3 pieces. And every piece of it has a bone design on it, with like a blue glow so it looks he’s literally an X-ray picture. Hella cool. And he refuses makeup but reluctantly compromises with just dark eye stuff.

Sean Connery, Oscar Winner and James Bond Star, Dies at 90
Sean Connery, the Scottish-born actor who rocketed to fame as James Bond and became one of the franchise’s most popular and enduring international stars, has died. He was 90.
Connery, long regarded as one of the best actors to have portrayed the iconic spy, was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2000 and marked his 90th birthday in August. His death was confirmed by his family, according to the BBC, which notes that the actor died in his sleep while in the Bahamas. It’s believed he had been unwell for some time. His last acting role had been in Stephen Norrington’s “The League of Extraordinary Gentleman” (2003).
Connery was an audience favorite for more than 40 years and one of the screen’s most reliable and distinctive leading men. The actor was recently voted the best James Bond actor in an August Radio Times poll in the U.K. More than 14,000 voted and Connery claimed 56% of the vote. Global tributes poured in for Connery on Saturday following news of his death.
In a statement, Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said Connery “was and shall always be remembered as the original James Bond whose indelible entrance into cinema history began when he announced those unforgettable words, ‘The name’s Bond… James Bond.’
“He revolutionized the world with his gritty and witty portrayal of the sexy and charismatic secret agent. He is undoubtedly largely responsible for the success of the film series and we shall be forever grateful to him,” said the producers.
However, Connery — who made his debut in the first Bond film, “Dr. No” (1962) — also transcended Ian Fleming’s sexy Agent 007, and went on to distinguish himself with a long and mature career in such films as “The Wind and the Lion” (1975), “The Man Who Would Be King” (1975) and “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” (1989).
His turn as a tough Irish cop in Depression-era Chicago in Brian De Palma’s “The Untouchables” (1987) brought him a supporting actor Oscar.
Even as he entered his seventh decade, Connery’s star power remained so strong that he was constantly in demand and handsomely remunerated. In 1999 he was selected People magazine’s Sexiest Man of the Century, and from his 007 days to “Entrapment” (1999), opposite the much-younger Catherine Zeta-Jones, his screen roles more than justified the choice. Age seemed only to intensify his sex appeal and virility.
In his early career, his physique was his main asset as he modeled and picked up acting jobs where he could. In 1956, he landed the role of a battered prizefighter in the BBC production of “Requiem for a Heavyweight.” Good notices brought him to the attention of the entertainment community, and his first film was “No Road Back,” a B crime movie in 1956. He seemed doomed to play the hunk to ageing leading ladies, as he did opposite Lana Turner in “Another Time, Another Place,” or roles that stressed his looks such as “Tarzan’s Great Adventure” in 1959.
It was easy to dismiss him in films like “Darby O’Gill and the Little People,” but his Count Vronsky to Claire Bloom’s Anna Karenina on the BBC brought him some respect and the kind of attention needed to raise him to the top of the Daily Express’ poll of readers asked to suggest the ideal James Bond.
After an interview with producers Albert Broccoli and Harry Saltzman, he landed the role without a screen test, according to Saltzman. It was a controversial choice at the time, as Connery was an unknown outside Britain. But 1962’s “Dr. No,” the first of the Bond films, made him an international star.
His stature grew with the ever more popular sequels “From Russia With Love,” “Goldfinger” and “Thunderball,” which arrived over the next four years. Bond gave Connery a license to earn; he was paid only $30,000 for “Dr. No” but $400,000 for Alfred Hitchcock’s “Marnie” and was soon getting $750,000 a film.
His initial efforts to break out of the Bond mold, however, proved fruitless. Films like “A Fine Madness,” “Shalako” and “The Molly Maguires” were well-intentioned attempts that did nothing to shake Connery as Bond from the public consciousness. After 1967’s “You Only Live Twice,” he left the Bond franchise, but he was coaxed back for 1971’s “Diamonds Are Forever.” He looked old for the role, and the series seemed tired, so with that, he left Bond behind — though money would tempt him back once last time in 1983 for “Never Say Never Again.”
He took a major misstep with sci-fi film “Zardoz,” and his career seemed to be foundering.
But he bounced back in 1974 with a supporting role in “Murder on the Orient Express” and the following year with “The Wind and the Lion” and “The Man Who Would Be King,” two bold adventures featuring a mature, salt-and-pepper-bearded Connery. “Robin and Marian” (1976) opposite Audrey Hepburn was not a popular success, but critics embraced it, and the film cemented Connery’s reputation as a versatile, serious screen actor.
In the late 1970s, there were more missteps such as “Meteor,” “A Bridge Too Far” and “Cuba.” But he scored in Terry Gilliam’s “Time Bandits.” It wasn’t until after his last Bond film that his standing as a box office star caught up to his critical reputation, thanks mostly to two huge worldwide hits: “Highlander,” which was not a big hit in the U.S., and “The Name of the Rose,” which was also much more popular abroad.
BAFTA gave him a best actor award for “Name of the Rose,” and he received his Oscar for “The Untouchables.” After that, he was an instant greenlight any time he agreed to take a role even if some of them, such as “The Presidio,” and “Family Business,” were not so hot.
Pairing Connery and Harrison Ford as father and son in the third “Indiana Jones” film was an inspired move, and the film grossed almost half a billion dollars worldwide.
Meanwhile, “The Hunt for Red October,” in which Connery played a defecting Soviet sub captain, was also a major hit in 1990.
By the 1990s, he was so popular that his uncredited cameo as King Richard in “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” became one of the film’s highlights.
He was still a force to contend with in the foreign market, as “Highlander 2,” “Medicine Man,” “Rising Sun,” “Just Cause” and “First Knight” proved over the next several years. His salary was regularly $5 million and above.
One setback was a bout with throat cancer in the early 1990s, but Connery rebounded with a burst of activity. He starred with Nicolas Cage in 1996 actioner “The Rock,” playing a character that drew more than a little on his history as James Bond. In 2000, he essayed a very different role and received positive reviews for “Finding Forrester,” playing a reclusive writer who bonds with a young black basketball player who’s an aspiring scribe himself.
Nevertheless, he continued with action roles well after his 70th birthday, playing the legendary adventurer Allan Quatermain in 2003’s “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.” He announced his retirement in 2005. He voiced a James Bond videogame the same year, and he subsequently did some other voice acting, playing the title character in the animated short “Sir Billi the Vet” and reprising the role in 2010 for “Sir Billi,” which he also exec produced.
Thomas Sean Connery was born of Irish ancestry in the slums of Edinburgh on Aug. 25, 1930. Poverty robbed him of an education, and by his teens he’d left school and was working as an unskilled laborer.
At 17, he was drafted into the Royal Navy, but he was discharged three years later due to a serious case of ulcers.
He returned to Edinburgh and worked a variety of jobs, including as a lifeguard. He took up bodybuilding and placed third in the 1950 Mr. Universe competition.
After moving to London, he learned of an opening in the chorus of “South Pacific.” He took a crash dancing and singing course and, surprisingly, landed the role, in which he stayed for 18 months. He was “hooked,” he said, but spent several years paying his dues in small repertory companies in and around London before anyone else became hooked on him.
Connery was devoted to his native Scotland and used his stature to press for the re-establishment of a Scottish parliament. When the body reconvened in 1999, 296 years after its last meeting, Connery was invited to address the first session, where he was greeted with a thunderous ovation. The next year, when he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II — an honor he called “one of the proudest days of my life” — he asked that the investiture be performed in Edinburgh.
Connery published his autobiography, “Being a Scot,” co-written with Murray Grigor, in 2008. Besides his knighthood and his Academy Award, he received many kudos over his long career, including the Kennedy Center Honors in 1999 and the American Film Institute’s lifetime achievement award in 2006.
Connery was married to actress Diane Cilento from 1962-73. The couple divorced in 1973 and Cilento died in 2011. Connery is survived by his second wife, painter Micheline Roquebrune, whom he married in 1975; his son by Cilento, actor Jason Connery; and a grandson from Jason’s marriage to actress Mia Sara.

Survey #383
“the big bully try to stick his finger in my chest  /  try to tell me, tell me he’s the best  /  i don’t really give a good goddamn ‘cuz i got my lunchbox & i’m armed real well”
Ever had a friend online for a long time without seeing a photo of them? Well yeah. Most of my friends are online, and while I've seen pictures of most at least once or twice, some I still haven't. The last time you threw up, what caused it? It was a side effect of a mood stabilizer I started. Any foods from other countries you would like to try but haven’t yet? I'm sure there's something, idk. Do you think the world would be more peaceful without any religion? Yes. Have you ever had a stalker? No. Does it hurt your feelings when people talk shit about things you love? It makes me self-conscious way more than anything. I start to obsess over whether or not the person things poorly or weirdly of me for liking what I like. I just feel judged for liking it, but that's my problem. Do you like it when people give you nicknames? I do, actually. It feels kinda affectionate to me. Do you often find yourself checking out people’s butts? Haha I'm not gonna say it's never happened, but it's not something I make a habit out of for sure. What fandoms are you in? MEERKAT MANOR IS BACK BAYBEEEE, Markiplier, Silent Hill, Shadow of the Colossus, World of Warcraft, Spyro, Wings of Fire, and lots more, honestly. I'm into a lot of stuff, and I don't love in moderation, haha. Are there any fandoms you used to be in, but left? Yeah, like Supernatural, Good Mythical Morning, or Warriors, but it wasn't out of "I don't like it anymore" or anything, I just drifted away. Anything the fans in your fandoms do that pisses you off? World of Warcraft if particular has one of the most toxic fucking fanbases. There are so many goddamn elitists and people who whine about "boohoo WoW is dying" and "omg this game has been trash since Wrath" and yada yada yada and it's annoying as hell. They always find some shit to complain about. Then Silent Hill... ugh. I think people just hop onto the "the series sux after 1-4" bandwagon to fit in with a certain crowd, but that's not the main thing that annoys me; rather, it's the fact the former main admin of the SH wiki made a fucking joke out of us there. He was clearly having personal issues and made a HUGE and utterly ridiculous deal of Silent Hill 4 having heavy symbolism to the main character being obsessed with the bullshit idea of him being circumcised, and it led to a maaaassive thread of us members trying to talk some damn sense into him as he abused his power. He was finally banned by the Wikia staff, but not in time for some gaming websites to publish "news" stories about it because it was just that ludicrous. Now, YEARS later, we still get trolls coming onto the site to try and revive the drama by inserting absolute rubbish into pages or making new ones. Nowadays I'm the main administrator there, and it's fucking embarrassing sometimes. I'm supposed to keep the wiki under control and respected, you know? Ugh, I'll stop. I could rant for a very long time about this. Do you prefer ruffly or regular potato chips? Ruffly. Do you write down your own recipes, or just commit them to memory? I don’t cook. What color do you want to dye your hair? My top three are pastel pink, lilac, and a light creamsicle orange. I REALLY want to dye it SOMETHING. :( How do you like your chicken? Of course breaded (like nuggets, tenders) is my favorite, but I also enjoy is broiled and seasoned well. There's other ways, but because I don't cook, I, uh... don't know how a lot are made lmao. Do you enjoy cheese fries? UUUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHH YES. Do you eat refried beans? I absolutely hate beans, so no. What is a food you enjoy, but don’t have very often? A whole lot because a lot of it is from restaurants and we don't eat out all that much. As well, my diet is very narrow just because of how picky I am. Marilyn Monroe or Audrey Hepburn? Why? I mean, what are we comparing them for? I think Audrey is fucking gorgeous, though. Marilyn is also beautiful. Favorite fictional world? Uh, I dunno. Do you use lint rollers often? No. Do you carry pepper spray? No, but I want to. Has your power ever gone out for more than a day? I think so. Other than a dislike button, what’s something you wish Facebook had? Hm, I dunno. What time do your parents normally get home from work? Mom can't work right now, but I think Dad gets off around 5PM. Are you afraid to ask people out on dates? Yep. Do you think it’s better to look for love or let it find you? Both can work, but I definitely prefer to let it find me. I feel that *in general* that usually has better results. Have you ever found yourself worrying about commitment? No. I'm a very committed person romantically. Would you get involved with someone if they had a child already? No. Have you ever had a rash from poison ivy? I don't believe so, no. Do you have any chairs in your bedroom? No. Did you watch Elmo as a child? Some, yeah. Do you know anyone who doesn’t eat meat? I don't think so, off the top of my head. When you throw up, do you cry? No, but I'm a whiner and will also shake from fear because I have such a phobia of vomiting. Doing it totally turns me into a baby. Who was the last person to carry you? I couldn't tell you the last person to full-on carry me, but back when I tore a ligament in my foot, my mom kinda had me lifted when she would help me walk. Is it easy for you to accept loss? Absolutely not. I handle it very, very poorly. Have you done anything sneaky lately? No. Have you ever had a rolling back pack? Yes. Who knows you better than anyone else? My mom, probably. Would you ever want to go to Brazil? Sure, if the opportunity came up. Are there any medical conditions that run in your family? A lot, mostly heart problems. What band has the best guitar solos? Metallica imo. Who is the biggest jerk you've ever met? She was somehow my former best friend. Have you ever swerved off the road to avoid hitting an animal? I've never been in that situation, thankfully. What's a charity you would never donate to? I'm really not familiar enough with charities and their practices to know which ones are sketch or not. Have you ever grown your own herbs? No. Do you have any exes you'd consider dating again? Yes. What were some of your favorite classes you took in high school? Art and German. Mythology was fun, too. Do you know anyone with a profession in law? Yeah, I have a cousin that's a lawyer. Have you ever Googled yourself? Yeah, outta curiosity. What's the shortest amount of time you've had between relationships? Like, two days. Part of the reason I left Girt was because I liked Sara. As a child, what comfort foods did your parents make for you when you were sick with a cold or flu? Chicken noodle soup. What's a movie series where the sequel was better than the original? Ha, for some reason Inspector Gadget came to mind. I guess from mentioning my childhood. I was FUCKING OBSESSED with that movie as a kid. The first one's fine, but I love the second one. Does your car have heated seats? Mom's doesn't. What is the strangest pizza topping you've ever eaten? Nothing strange, really. Describe your hometown. What’s it like there? Small and dangerous. Lots of run-down areas. A gang nearly broke into our house once, if that helps you get the picture. What was the last video game you beat? I replayed Silent Hill 2 forever ago. What did you learn from your last failed relationship? It really just taught me that you need to take care of your own mental health before you can effectively handle another's properly and strike a healthy balance. What country does your favorite band hail from? Britain. What’s something on your to-do list that never actually gets done? Finish decorating my room. -_- Have you ever been really passionate about something but then lost interest? If so, what was it? Good Mythical Morning, I suppose. I used to be OB-SESSED. I still adore Rhett and Link as people, they are fucking wonderful human beings and excellent entertainers, I just drifted away from their content. I don't really know why. Do you sleep with the TV or the radio on? No. What’s the worst thing about being male/female (whichever you are)? Menstrual cycles, I'd say. It affects your mood so much, and as someone who's bipolar, it can be very confusing. I like to know why I'm feeling a certain way. What movie has the best special effects? /shrug How many work hours per week is too much for you? I wouldn't know, I've never really worked long enough to figure this out. Can you remember your first day of school? I think I have the faintest memory of it. I know I was very scared to leave my mom (I had absolutely awful separation anxiety from her) and I MIGHT have cried, but I don't really recall with certainty. Have you ever entered a modelling competition? Would you? No thanks. Did you keep any drawings/stories from when you were younger? Most, no, because the level of cringe is LITERALLY unbearable for me. Do you have a safe? Mom does somewhere. What’s the scariest thing to happen to you so far? The breakup. That night was just fucking terrifying. I was so certain my life was over, like the situation was so, so impossible in my head. What was your last dream about? (or your daydream if you don’t remember) My memory's faint, but I just remember I had a nightmare where a LOT of my bones were totally snapped in half. When was the last time you saw a relative? Excluding my immediate family, I last saw my now-departed grandmother and my uncle a while back at a hotel as they were passing through. Have you ever been in a TV audience? No. Are you in any way close to reaching a personal goal? Not really... Do you prefer crosswords or word searches? Word searches. Do you like making collages? Not really. Do you remember any inside jokes from childhood? No. What would you love to learn to do? Digital art, like drawing on a tablet. Do you prefer monkeys or lemurs? Lemurs. Do you watch movies based on the actors or the movie plot? The plot, 100%. Are you more shy in real life or on the internet? I am WAY more shy irl.

Jess’ Masterlist of Prodigal Son (Mostly Brightwell) Inspo with Songs & Lyrics
HI tend to think of almost everything in connection to songs and lyrics and recently Ive got a bunch of lyrics rolling around in my head that are perfect for inspiration for Prodigal Son fics, fan art, gif sets, ect - but mostly fics (and mosty Brightwell).
Ill do my best to categorize by relationship/ character and possibly plot - and hopefully to keep this updated.
Like my music? want to listen to it too? All of these songs are in my playlist that I leave on repeat: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3pvktqRQXSUivcXpOWZGCX
Tumblr media
Brightwell
Piece of Your Heart - Mayday Parade
This song is perfect for the both of them no matter who it’s coming from, but I always see the 1st verse (1st bullet) coming from Dani
Give me your misery All of it give it to me I can hold onto it for you It's not a problem I just want your energy A piece of that fractured mountain I'll take whatever comes with it as long as it's yours
All I know is that I want it more than yesterday If I was waiting, I was waiting for just one little spark You are the brightest I've seen You are the best side of me And just for when we're apart I've got a piece of your heart
But I want the whole damn thing
Where You Are - Mayday Parade
The song as a whole is not fitting, its about someone dying. But there are a few lines that can be used.
You to me, are encased in nothing But beauty and gracious love You'll always be my one good reason To keep on moving 'til I'm in your arms
My favorite place is wherever you are
Sleeping In - All Time Low
This song is PERFECT for well establish Brightwell - fluffy, lazy days, just ignoring the world and staying in together. Just go listen to the whole song.
Never wanna leave this bed Tell me that you got nowhere to be Can we stay all day? (All day) Lay low in our lazy luxury Sex in a rosé daze (daze) All day, it's a real good thing
Just like that There you go, making it hard to stay on track Got shit to do, you got work But we fall right back Into bed, like it's all just a game And we can't help that, no we can't help that
Favorite Place - All Time Low
Another one that’s perfect for Brightwell, mostly coming from Bright (bolded parts), this song is currently always stuck in my head. Go listen to it!
So can we close the space between us now It's the distance we don't need (hey) Yeah, you're everything I love about The things I hate in me (hey) So come on, come on, come over now and Fix me with your grace 'Cause I'm not too far and you're my favorite place
And I know you don't belong (know you don't belong) Know you don't belong to anyone No you can't be tamed love Maybe I was wrong (maybe I was wrong) Maybe I was wrong for this But you feel like the perfect escape now
Kids Again - Artist Vs Poet
Can be any phase of Brightwell I think - mostly focusing on the verses, ignoring the ‘just like we were kids’ reference in the chorus, because they didn’t grow up together. Another one to go listen to the whole song.
I know a girl who likes to drink her coffee black Cause sugar, no, she don't got time for that Leaves her desires at the welcome mat when she walks in
Yeah, I know a boy who likes to keep his burner on He's always running with no one to keep warm It's like he's flirting with the smoke alarm, his fire's fading
But still we laugh, we cry, we fall, we get high
And when I, I'm feeling small you get me through it all
I know a girl who's never tried to settle down She wears her loneliness like a crown But when she smiles all the kings will bow down, down, down
And I know a boy who's broken every vow he's made Who's spoken every capped phrase But he can listen like a rainy day and drown it out
Clumsy - All Time Low
Perfect for when Bright acts like Bright, especially in reference to him backing away from Dani and ending up with Eve. And anything else he does that breaks Danis trust and makes her say things like ‘you promised to do better’ and ‘you told me i was the one you liked talking to’ LISTEN TO THIS ONE ITS SO GOOD
I was bound to make a mess of things Mixin' fireworks and gasoline Never meant to make you fall with me
I let you down I've been clumsy with your heart again I guess you figured me out Now here's a taste of my own medicine
And for all this pain, that I can't explain There's a black flag wavin' tonight You know I let you down (let you down) I've been clumsy with your heart again
Satellite - Mayday Parade
Cant really explain how this fits other than angsty Bright who thinks hes going to mess up everything (I swear everything I touch it breaks). Most of the lines could easily come from either of them to the other. Gets at the emotion of following each other and doing life together (will you follow?)
What if I told you, everything we built will slowly fade away? And if I hold you, I swear everything I touch it breaks But it you close your eyes and take my hand We could learn from our mistakes
If you jump, I'll follow If you jump, I'll follow
What if I told you, everything that's gold is sure to fade If I hold you, what if I hold you 'til we're old and grey? But if you close your eyes and take my hand We could learn from our mistakes
If you jump, I'll follow If I jump, will you follow?
Never Let Me Go - We Came As Romans
See below under Malcolm & Gil - really good for canon friendship/ partnership with Dani & Bright
Hush Hush - The Band CAMINO
This one is absolutely perfect for building tension between the two of them either for pre-brightwell or established Brightwell – Especially if they’re hiding it from the rest of the team. It’s perfect for something hot yet playful, or just completely angsty. It’s… well, you’ll see. Give it a listen!
I caught your eye across the room No one can feel the tension between me and you There's no need to mention all the things I wanna do You wanna do 'em too We both know we'd be over if they knew Yeah, we both know we'd be over if they knew
Hush, hush Don't give it away We'll both be better off if no one knows Hush, hush Got nothin' to say Just keep it to yourself 'til we get home Don't touch they're looking your way If anybody asks, we left alone Hush, hush Don't give it away Hush, hush Don't give it away
Honest - The Band CAMINO
This one right here – the ENTIRE song is 100% for those storylines that has the two of them attempting ‘no strings attached’ and casual without all the emotions that we KNOW are there. Perfect for leading into a change from casual to serious :) Here’s just a portion
Are we something to each other Or are we just blowing smoke? Are we caught between the covers Or is there something more going on in between us, or not? Is it just on the surface, or what?
We should be honest 'Cause sometimes I can't tell Do we really want this Or are we lying to ourselves? Is it the burning hearts alone in the dark That make the midnight call? Now we're caught between the real thing And nothing at all So we should be honest
Do you feel it when you kiss me? 'Cause I know you do somehow I don't know when we go where we got But we're both here somehow And I thought it was nothing until now
What I Want - The Band CAMINO
Some feels for break up/ fight Brightwell and perfect for Dani’s POV when he moves onto Eve shortly after saying he’d try to do better at them and that she’s the one he likes talking to.
You told me to love, but I won't It doesn't seem right, no and I'll never get what I want if I can't on my own I took a chance on a feeling But here I am feeling alone
If Im James Dean, Then You’re Audrey Hepburn - Sleeping With Sirens
For when Malcolm is serious about them and really needs Dani to stay – most important line in this is ‘Cant promise that things wont be broken’ For serious, and fluff:)
They say that love is forever Your forever is all that I need Please stay as long as you need Can't promise that things won't be broken But I swear that I will never leave Please stay forever with me
The way that we are It's the reason I stay As long as you're here with me I know we'll be okay The way that we are Is the reason I stay As long as you're here with me I know I'll be okay
Another Nightmare - Sleeping With Sirens
It’s not hard for Bright to be a MESS - whether you're sticking with canon storylines or adding your own, he probably thinks he's an absolute nightmare to everyone around him, especially Dani.
Nobody's perfect, there's no excuse I've been such a fucking nightmare to you But I promise if you let me in (let me in, let me in) I will never ever hurt you again
Malcolm & Martin (as portrayed on the show - not going near that NOTP)
Monsters - All Time Low (Explicit language)
This song perfectly - 99% - describes the relationship between Malcolm and Martin  (aside from the ‘in the sheets’ reference STAY THE FRICK AWAY NOTP). What I like the most about this matching their relationship is the fact that it acknowledges that Malcolm keep letting himself go back to Martin and let him hurt him (although I know a good deal of that is Martins manipulation controlling Malcolm). Go listen to the whole thing - its new music and its beautiful.
Another day, 'nother headache in this hangover hotel Gettin' used to the rhythm, yeah, I know this beat too well Tunnel visions got me feeling, like you're the only one I see But I know what's missing, where I'm swimmin' In my lonely luxury
Why am I a sucker for all your lies? Strung out like laundry on every line Why do I come back to you, like I don't mind if you fuck up my life?
I'm addicted to the way you hurt, the way you contradict me I swear everything look worse at night, I think I'm overthinking I don't care who I might hurt along the way, I'm fuckin' sinking Into every word, I don't care if you lyin' when I'm drinking So, tell me pretty lies, look me in my face Tell me that you love me, even if it's fake
A Trophy Father’s Trophy Son - Sleeping With Sirens
The actual context of the song doesn’t fit to this situation, since Martin was taken away rather than leaving his family on his own but the emotion behind the words as if they were coming from Malcolm is exactly the same: losing a father. Perfect for young Malcolm as well as current day.
Father, father, tell me where have you been? Its been hell not having you here I've been missing you so bad And you don't seem to care When I go to sleep at night, you're not there When I go to sleep at night, do you care?
I need to know, I need to know Why are you walking away? Was it something I did? Did I make a mistake cause I'm trying to deal with the pain I don't understand this, is this how it ends? I will try to understand
Blood Lines - Sleeping with Sirens
Doesn’t need any more explanation than the statement Martin made that haunts him ‘We are the same’
No matter what I do, you will never ever be like me And I will never be like you (like you)
Malcolm
Who Will Pray? - We Came As Romans
Not in a religious context at all. Definitely a song on the more glum/ angsty side to describe Malcolm and how he feels about himself in relation to everyone around him.
We share our days Together now the sun is gone am I Another left here on my own alone And I'm slowly sinking
Scared to say What I'm feeling is the truth I need to face reality I choose to use to trick myself again into thinking
Short of breath and pulse erratic The weight of my chest, I'm slightly panicked
If I start to fade, gone without a trace Who will pray for me tomorrow? If I fall too far, disappear in the dark Who will pray for me tomorrow?
Blood Lines - Sleeping With Sirens
Just some lyrics I found that accurately describe Malcolm – ‘Why do I try to save everyone I meet?’ evidenced by his talking down of their killer in every episode, and his ‘someone breaks us’ in the pilot as he tried to talk that killer down.
Why do I try to save everyone I meet? Is it because they are just like me? (Just like me) Same tracks, wrong side of the street Not typical in the way that we speak When you always expect to lose You don't give a fuck what they think of you It's written in our DNA Are we just born this way?
Malcolm & Gil (AS THEYRE PORTRAYED ON THE SHOW, PEOPLE, still not going near that NOTP)
Never Let Me Go - We Came As Romans
This one actually fits any caring relationship with Bright, especially with Gil, and his canon friendship/ partnership with Dani.
The POV in the chorus changes halfway through, as an answer to the person saying ‘dont let me go’ so I see that as being them telling Malcolm they wont let him go.
My body shivers at the thought of getting up My heart is starting to accept that I am giving up No strength left Is it over yet? Am I thinking with my heart or with my head? Through distance, you remind me that
Don't let me, don't let me, don't let me go
So hold me close and never let me, never let me go At my lowest of lows, when I need you the most So let's reverse, could you look for me, could you look for me first? I will hold you close, I will never let you go I will never let you go I will never let you go
My hands welcome yours as you begin to see me My heart is starting to accept your rescue completely This new life that you placed in my heart I hope that I will make it through to you And in my steps you will follow behind, Oh Don't let me go!
Malcolm & JT (Once again - as they’re portrayed on the show)
Agree to Disagree - Sleeping With Sirens
Doesn't entirely fit them where they are at now, but it’s perfect for how JT viewed him pretty early on
You think you're better than me? You don't like what you see? I think it's best we agree to disagree I'm doing fine by myself I never asked for your help I think it's best we agree to disagree
Songs that I’m getting paring/ character vibes from but I have no explanation why:
For a While - The Band CAMINO (Brightwell)
See Through - The Band CAMINO (Brightwell)

I know I’m vocal in like. Replies and messaging people, but I’m honestly too shy to tag anyone ever so. If we’re mutuals, I’m probably very interested in learning more about you but I’m too shy to tag, haha.
1. your name and then what you would have named yourself: My birth name is Sarah, but I actually go by my preferred name everywhere. It’s... not that common, so I’d rather not post it. But K is fine.
2. astrological signs: Capricorn sun, Sag rising, Aquarius moon.
3. when did you join tumblr and why? Joined once about... six, seven years ago? My friend told me I could learn from some super smart lesbians. I then got pulled into the seperatist community and left the moment I realized how honest to god toxic it was. Rejoined a few months back because Catradora became canon and all of my favorite fic writers were on Tumblr. Figured this was where fandom thrived and you know what? I was RIGHT.
4. top 5 fandoms: Xena Warrior Princess, Star Trek Voyager, The Expanse, Battlestar Galactica (the reboot), and Steven Universe
5. top 5 favorite films: 1) The Children’s Hour (1961) is a wonderful historical drama (sometimes noted as the best ever written for the big screen) starring Audrey Hepburn and Shirley McClain. It shows how being a lesbian was perceived in the early 60s and sided with the lesbians. 2) Iron Sky 3) The Hours 4) The Craft 5) Beaches
6. go to song for when you want to feel something: O Mistress Mine as done by Emilie Autumn or The Great Gig Up in the Sky by Pink Floyd
7. what’s your religion or faith if you have one: Born Jew. My dad always kept the Tao Te Ching on his nightstand, so I was raised with a sort of. Mix of Judaism and Taoism. Now I’m just... I don’t feel like whether a god exists or not is relevant. Or if a god ever did exist. I want to do good for the sake of doing good; hurting people just feels too awful. I look for guidance from the world and the people around me.
8. a song that makes you feel seen: Stress by Kim’s Big Ego
9. if you could have any career: Mission Specialist. Or maybe a marine ecologist that specialized in deep sea adventure science. Or pro skater.
11. what does your heart/soul yearn for: Adventure and love. Family.
12. if you had to describe yourself in 5 words to someone who doesn’t know you: Awkward, creative, dreamer, well-intentioned.
13. favorite subjects in school: It was music theory. I also loved Film
14. where does your soul feel most at home: Corny as this sounds? With my partner. We could be anywhere.
15. top 5 fictional characters: Xena, Rose Solano, Carmilla (love me some vampires), Camina Drummer, Admiral Helena Cain
16. top 3 moments in a show that made you ugly cry: AFIN :/ So many times. I cried so hard that I covered the mirrors in my home in shiva. I know there must have been other points during shows, but I honestly can’t remember them.
17. the earth, the sun, the moon or the stars: The sun. I get my energy from it. I wake up to watch the sun rise and immediately feel tired after it sets. The moon and stars are gorgeous, but I’m a sun girl.
18. favorite kind of weather: Somewhere in the low to mid eighties. Partially cloudy skies. A nice light wind.
19. top 3 characters you kin with: I think this term means characters you see yourself reflected in? Seven of Nine. We are like. The same. On so many levels. Then mix in a bit of Craig from Parks and Rec and add a dash of Malfoy from A Very Potter Musical. (Rolling on the ground and sexy posing when arguing or upset? Me.)
20. favorite medium of art: Haha actually? Poetry probably. Something about spinning words, making me wonder, transporting my heart to some place so, so far from the present moment. I also love digital art.
21. introvert/extrovert/ambivert: Ambivert. I NEED to be around people. Sometimes I go through periods of time where I need to be alone for a few days, though. Generally I’m pretty extroverted.
22. favorite literary quote: I can’t think of one. And I don’t feel like flipping through every book I have to find one.
23. some of your favorite books: The Expanse series, Weaveworld by Clive Barker, The Black God’s Drums by Clark P Djeli, The Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu
24. if you could live anywhere in the world where would you live? The thing is? I’m content living in the Potomac River Valley. I also loved briefly living off of a fjord in Norway. I just love to travel. I move someplace and the wonder fades out. Not entirely but a lot. I start loving where I am and can see myself staying there forever. But it’s that known unknown, that desperate craving to know and experience and explore. I’m not ready to live anywhere in the world yet. I still want to live everywhere.
25. if you could live anywhere in the world when would it be? Proooooobably the 1980s? Or maybe do the 90s again? Just because it’s similar enough to now, but more freedom, dude.
26. if you could play any instrument masterfully it would be: Haha. Man I don’t know. My favorite thing to do with music is to compose on paper, so maybe I’d master composition and conducting. Not quite an “instrument” but it something you can study at any music conservatory that specializes in performance.
27. if you have one, what mythological god or goddess do you feel a connection to: Since I was a child I’ve always felt an intense connection to Artemis (to the point where I’d lay in bed for hours and hours at night yearning for her to be real...) Not to be that lesbian but. You can’t fight who you are.
28. and lastly, favorite recent in your camera roll: Found these friends when I went on a walk the other day.

PLEASE tell me more
aetla replied to your post: she’s so pretty :pleading:
:ear:
it’s hard for me to talk about her before rambling a bit so here i go! her name is audrey cramer which is 1). a reference to my favorite actress ( audrey hepburn ) and 2). a reference to one of my favorite families ( the cramer women ) in my favorite soap opera, one life to live. i love ( love ) soaps; passions, all my children, and one life to live were my biggest favs even though passions was stupid most of the time looking back. the deaths of AMC / OLTL still hurt. but hey, general hospital, days, and the cbs soaps are still kicking even if i don’t watch them. the point of bringing this up is that the mini-story in my head with these characters in the sims is basically kind of a...love letter to soaps and the tropes they have ( the romance, the cheating, scandals, the star crossed lovers, the people who die but never stay dead, etc. ) but with a fantasy twist since the town is occupied by fairies, wizards, werewolves, etc.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
anyway, audrey. while soaps are an ensemble, pretty much every single one has that one female character that ‘leads’ the show ( all my children had erica kane, one life to live had victora / vicki lord, general hospital still has laura spencer, days of our lives also still has its female lead, marlena evens, etc, etc. ) audrey is the ‘lead’ of [fictional town i haven’t fully decided the name of].
audrey is well... me. her name was literally my middle name back when i first created her back when my brother got me the sims 1 ( side note: i love my big bro. he’s great ). she’s always been black, she’s aways been a writer, and a hopeless romantic who just so happens to be good at things i’m not ( i hate cooking -> audrey ended up going into the professional chef career lmao ). she was basically built off the things young summer liked and did or either aspired to do or get better at. she is, quite literally, my idealized self i guess. ( i think her love interest may or may not have originally been based off this cute hispanic boy i spent all day at the pool with once one summer. did we dramatically look at each other through the gates when he finally had to go home? maybe. i was in love ya’ll!!! )
i literally had a journal in middle school were i wrote out stories between the characters - although looking back on it now, i would probably cringe since most of it would read like a trashy reality show to me ( for context, stuff like flavor of love / i love new york was at its peak back then ) rather than the well crafted soap that 13 year old me envisioned. however, instead of just...throwing all that away, i recently started to build this storyline in my head ( mostly b/c i’m not very fond of the sims 4 and want to find ways to keep myself invested in it ) and revamp parts i didn’t like. basically i asked: how can i make this interesting to me - even if it is, admittedly, self indulgent to my tastes? the answer was to start building a world which is...something i’ve never done before? and it’s still in like super, super infant phases b/c i haven’t been playing ts4 at all but it is something i want to work for my own enjoyment / challenge to myself.
SO. the beginning of the story has always started with audrey returning home for a funeral - her mother’s funeral to be exact. there’s a lot of baggage here due to the fact that 1). her mom is/was easily the most important in town, 2). the cramers, who are also witches, are seen as the ‘pillars’ of the community and thus someone needs to step up and take her mother’s place (i’m still debating on her mom’s new name  / whether i want it to be a soap character reference or not so that’s why i’m not saying a name), and 3). her mother’s death slowly begins to look more and more like a murder than a natural cause of death.
on top of all of this, audrey hasn’t been back home since graduating high school and leaving her HS sweetheart behind due to conflicting desires ( she wants to escape what she is - a witch / half faye via her father - and wants to leave it behind while he takes pride in his family and what he is - a werewolf. ( we all know they’re going to fall in love again but...slow burn baby ).
audrey vc: can i catch a break here?
there’s also the fact that well...the cramers like all families are dysfunctional. before i touch on her sisters, however, i also have to mention another trope within soap operas. if a character (doesn’t matter if they’re a man or a woman) has multiple children then each child is basically guaranteed to have a different mom / dad  ( if a brother and sister on a soap have the same mom and dad, that’s actually a miracle lol ). that’s how it is with audrey and her sisters, serena and alexendra.
Tumblr media
serena. the oldest who was originally the baby - although audrey tends to act more like it. literally gives not a single fuck(tm) about having magical powers and constantly leaves the council on read about becoming the new head now that her mother is dead. she’s single, constantly ready to mingle - in bed. basically fulfills the hot / steamy part of the ‘love in the afternoon’ part of soaps + is a person whose life is a mess and is always into something they probably shouldn’t be in.
Tumblr media
alexenda. the baby who, at least back during the ts1 and ts2, was actually the oldest but things change!!! her personality has changed a lot because she used to be the oldest that was a nerd - i admittedly wasn’t invested in her back then as much as i am now. is more of a modern day hipster now who is an artist more than anything else. i’m still fleshing her new personality out so there’s not much here yet.
Tumblr media
the momma without a name yet ( might just be marlena b/c while i’ve never been super into days of our lives, the character marlena literally got possessed by the devil twice and that should be honored tbh ). anyway, she dead. has had an antagonist relationship with esperanza kane since forever and may or may not have been sleeping around with her husband. oops. ( esperanza is the mother of christian, audrey’s ex. :))) )
anyway, this isn’t like....a deep plot. i’m very self aware about it. it’s messy and drama filled b/c that’s well...soaps lol.
bonus: they also have pets. the dog is named carly after a character from general hospital that’s always yelling and in people’s faces lol. the brownish cat is the mom’s cat, vicki (named after the ever wise victoria lord), who can speak and acts as an ‘advisor’. audrey’s cat is...victor manning who doesn’t think he’s a cat and would probably try to fight you in the street if he could - that’s what you can expect from a cat named that lol. he loves belly rubs though!!!!

Have you ever had to deal with someone close to you going off to war? Nope. Joining the military isn’t mandatory or a big thing here so it’s common not to know anyone who’s gone off to war. The only people I know are Angela’s uncle who I’ve never met, and my great-grandfather who had died decades before I was born.
Describe your typical routine of getting ready for the day. I don’t really have one these days. Back when I still went to school I’d wake up half an hour before I actually had to get up so that I had time to either scroll through my social media or continue schoolwork that I left the night before. After that I’d shower, pick out my outfit, prepare my packed lunch and drive off. These days I’ll sleep in until 10 AM and only show up for breakfast.
What was the last book you read about? It talked about the rise of the fast food business and its transformation from something more innocent and organic to slaughterhouse galore.
When's the last time something turned out better than expected? My birthday. Thought it was gonna be a snoozefest but I actually ended up quite enjoying it, especially the gifts I got from my best friends.
Who is your favorite character from the last movie you watched? Mark Wallace, from Two for the Road. I liked him ever so slightly better than Audrey Hepburn’s character because I found him hilarious and witty and just so so so so charming.
Who do you feel you have the most in common with? Interests-wise, I don’t know. Mine are all over the place and I only share one or two interests with each of my friends, e.g. wrestling with Andrew, Friends with Angela, movies with Gabie, One Direction with Hannah, history with JM; but I’ve never met anyone who likes nearly all the same things I do. Humor and attitude-wise, I think it has to be Angela.
Who in your life causes you the most stress or negative feelings? My mom. I can’t waitttttt to dissociate myself from her.
How many chances do you tend to give people before enough is enough? Preferably zero, but sometimes I’ll give one.
Do you know anybody whose last name is a color? I’m not close with them but I know people whose last names are Maroon and Black.
Name one food you refuse to eat? Raisins, or anything with raisins in them.
Other than yourself, who did you last buy something for? My dad, nearly two months ago eugh.
Have you ever had a teacher that also taught your parents? No, but this happened with Gab and her dad! One of our former Filipino teachers used to be his professor in college, if I remember right.
What's the most you'd be willing to spend on a pair of shoes? Up to ₱50,000, probably. Shoes are one of my favorite pieces of clothing; once I’m richer I wouldn’t mind dropping abnormal amounts of money for a pair lol.
What's something you should be sorry about, but aren't? Just earlier I spoke up to my dad about how shitty I thought my mom acted towards my sister an hour ago.
What's one thing that people definitely CAN'T count on you for? Any task that’s layout- or graphic design-oriented. Y’all would not want to embarrass yourselves by picking me lmao.
What about something they definitely can count on you for? Driving people to their destination (as long as it’s part of the general direction to wherever I’m headed lol), listening to them vent, crafting any kind of write-up on short notice.
What's one food that you want to try but haven't yet? I’ve said this on surveys before, but tamilok.
What's something you complain about frequently? These days it’s feeling hot. But I think other people would tell you that I’d also often explode about traffic and stupid drivers heh.
If you hurt someone's feelings, would you feel bad or tell to get over it? I’d do a bit of self-reflection, especially if they confronted me about it. Then when I’m ready I’d go over and apologize. I’d never tell someone to get over feeling hurt, because that’s what my mom has told me over the last 22 years.
What's one book that you have read that will stick with you forever? I haven’t read a lot but I do remember Everyday by David Levithan meaning a lot to me when I first read it.
What is your favorite Disney movie? Toy Story.
Do you have a favourite superhero? If so, which one? No, I was never into them.
Do you think political correctness has gone too far? I don’t think that at all. More corrections just means society is becoming more aware and sensitive especially towards marginalized groups, and that’s always a good thing.
Have you had any confrontations with anyone lately? Yeah. My mom was being a big petty obnoxious baby towards my sister and it led to my sister quietly crying to her room, so I asked my dad if what my mom did was really necessary and if she was proud she made her daughter cry.
Do you have anything planned for the summer? Graduate, then job-hunt.
Do you walk fast or slow? Slow. My mom has never savored time with us kids and would always walk fast wherever we were and it always felt like running her errands than bonding as a family. Because of it I get very agitated and triggered when someone walks fast and I always ask them to slow down.
Do you keep birthday cards or throw them out? That’s not really a thing here so in the few times I’ve received some, I’ve always kept them in one of my drawers.
What would you do if you found a small, lost child? Turn them over to the guards in charge of the area. I don’t know if the police would be of much help.
What form of public transport do you use most often? Hah, I don’t. I find it crowded, hot, inconvenient, and also unsafe with all the muggers hanging out in jeeps or trains. While having my own car doesn’t help with traffic, it’s certainly the most convenient choice and I’ll keep picking my own private car so long as our public transport stays neglected and of poor quality.
Would you consider yourself an adrenaline junkie? I don’t think so. I don’t really do stuff that pumps up my adrenaline.
What is a common slang word from where you live? Mema refers to when you say a bunch of stuff just to hear the sound of your own voice, like when you go around in circles without really saying anything substantial. Mema is like when you’re answering an essay but you didn’t study for it, so you just keep repeating the one or two fact/s that you do remember and try to stretch it out to a couple of paragraphs hahaha. It can also be that one know-it-all at school or work who likes to talk but never says anything useful.
Do you live in a rural or an urban area? The highway that my village is on is quite literally the bridge between the two. If you go further east, you’re headed to the rural part of the city; if you go west, you’ll eventually end up in Metro Manila. Because of that, I’ve never known how to classify my own area; I do wanna say suburban, though.
What other windows have you currently got opened? None of them are open.
What is the longest you've gone without food? A day or two.
Which of your friends have you known the longest? I’ve known Angela since first grade. Technically, I’ve known Ciamae the longest (since kindergarten) but we weren’t friends until senior year of high school so I don’t think she counts.

INFPs make for some of the greatest characters in fiction due to their quirky and whimsical demeanors. They are especially great in romance films considering the fact that INFPs are some of the most romantic individuals out of all the 16 MBTI personality types.
RELATED: Myers-Briggs® Personality Types Of Disney Princesses
They dream of one day finding that special person, and people are captivated by their unusual personas. People with the INFP personality type are warm, charismatic, selfless, and imaginative making them an ideal love interest for most. With that being said, here are some essential characters in romance films who embody INFP characteristics.
Updated on February 5th, 2021 by Kristen Palamara: Romantic comedies continue to be one of the most popular movie genres from classic rom-coms being revisited and watched over and over again to new rom-coms becoming new favorites. The INFP, the mediator, personality type might seem shy at first but once they let people into their world others realize the INFP is creative, loving, and open-minded. INFP personality types are also extremely caring and are typically are looking for to build close relationships with those they care about so they make for fantastic rom-com leads.
15 LARA JEAN - TO ALL THE BOYS I'VE LOVED BEFORE
Tumblr media
Lara Jean is a shy high schooler who has had multiple passionate crushes in her past and has written love letters to each of them although she was too afraid to ever send them. Her sister sends the letters and changes Lara Jean's life forever when her crushes are able to read her innermost feelings about them. Lara Jean is creative with her multiple craft projects and love of baking. It's clear that Lara Jean also cares deeply for her father, sisters, and learns to let Peter into her life when they begin dating.
14 SAM - SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE
Tumblr media
Sam (Tom Hanks) is a widower with a young son and the movie Sleepless in Seattle begins with his son calling into a radio station to talk about how lonely his dad is after his mom's death. Sam ends up talking to the radio host and passionately describes the relationship he had and how much he truly cared for her and misses her. Hundreds of people listen to the radio broadcast including Annie (Meg Ryan) and several women try to reach out to him to try to date him. It's clear that Sam cares deeply for his son and is a romantic at heart who just wants a relationship with a loving woman.
13 FAITH - ONLY YOU
Tumblr media
Faith (Marisa Tomei) from Only You is extremely similar to the INFP personality type. Faith is completely obsessed with finding her soul mate and has been convinced since her childhood that she's meant to be with a man called Damon Bradley. Faith believes this wholeheartedly and has high expectations for her romantic relationships and needs a particular level of magic and flare. Faith meets a man who claims to have the name Damon Bradley (Robert Downey, Jr.) and she has to reckon with the difference between her expectations and her reality.
12 ALEX -CHANCES ARE
Tumblr media
Alex (Robert Downey Jr.) is inexplicably drawn to Miranda (Mary Stuart Masterson) and her family, specifically her mother Corinne (Cybill Shepherd), as he begins having strong memories of the family that aren't his own. It's an odd and unique rom-com when the audience realizes that Corinne's recently deceased husband was re-incarnated as Alex, but Alex is a passionate, creative, completely empathetic, helpful, and caring character.
11 ELLIE - THE HALF OF IT
Tumblr media
Ellie (Leah Lewis) is a quiet and extremely shy high schooler who is in love with Aster (Alexxis Lemire) but agrees to help Trig (Wolfgang Novogratz), a boy in their class, who is also in love with her, woo her. In a classic Cyrano de Bergerac storyline, Aster falls for Trig even though she has been talking with Ellie the entire time over text messages and letters. Ellie is a complete romantic and deeply cares for Aster while also developing a friendship with Trig.
10 RAMONA - SCOTT PILGRIM VS THE WORLD
Tumblr media
Ramona Flowers from Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World is definitely an INFP character. Many people are drawn in by the INFP's whimsical charm and their mysterious demeanors leave others around them constantly wanting more. This is why Ramona is so sought after in the movie by all of her exes as well as Scott Pilgrim himself because her wild-hearted personality is so alluring to all those around her. Also, INFPs are known for their lack of a desire to conform, which is why Ramona always sports unconventional colored hair. She couldn't care less about fitting in, and people tend to admire this aspect found in her character.
9 ELISA - SHAPE OF WATER
Tumblr media
Elisa from The Shape of Water fully embodies all of the essential character traits of the INFP personality type. Her character is warm, extremely empathetic, and creative. Like most INFPs, she always seems to be daydreaming about a fantasy world that is far from reach. Mundane aspects of her everyday life do not interest her as much as the fantastical elements that she comes across.
She falls in love with an amphibian man because she can identify with the fact that he's an outcast. INFPs tend to fall for people based on their personalities rather than superficial qualities such as appearance or financial status. It is also important to recognize the fact that Elisa befriends a bunch of characters who are labeled as misfits by society because she tends to find them more interesting than those who conform.
8 BELLA - TWILIGHT
Tumblr media
Bella Swan seems to embody the INFP personality because she is someone who appreciates fantasy much more than reality.
RELATED: Twilight: 10 Things About Bella Swan That Make No Sense
Prior to meeting Edward, she was a bookworm who loved reading about imaginary worlds far beyond her own. When she met the Cullens, she was fascinated by them rather than afraid, and she fully accepts them into her universe despite the fact that vampires are deemed as dangerous. She's willing to embark on any crazy adventure that comes her way rather than shying away from it.
7 BELLE - BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
Tumblr media
Princess Belle from Beauty and the Beast is basically the patron saint of fictional INFPs. Like many others described on this list, Belle is much more concerned with fantastical matters as opposed to what is going down in her everyday life. She couldn't care less about what's happening in her little town, yet what she does care about are the books she consumes on a daily basis. INFPs love reading fiction because it's a form of escapism and requires the reader to use their imagination.
6 CHARLIE - PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER
Tumblr media
Charlie is the definition of an INFP character. He is extremely sensitive and he will cry over the little things in life because he is so in touch with his emotions. For example, his character will often burst into tears over a song that touches his heart. Charlie is a wallflower, which means that although he is extremely shy and reserved, he is able to make observations and see things that others cannot. INFPs are experts when it comes to making observations about details that most people would not be able to pick up on.
5 EDWARD SCISSORHANDS - EDWARD SCISSORHANDS
Tumblr media
Johnny Depp is an actor who often plays INFP characters. This is because there is a strong chance that the quirky celeb is an INFP himself. Edward is an outcast and he finds it very difficult to connect with others around him, yet he isn't desperate to fit in with the rest of the crowd.
RELATED: 10 Hidden Details Everyone Missed In Edward Scissorhands
He is comfortable with his status as a misfit, and he cares more about making others happy than blending in with the rest of the crowd. INFPs are sensitive, romantic, and giving, and these are all traits that can be said about Edward Scissorhands. Despite the fact that he has scissors for his hands, he is completely harmless.
4 AMÉLIE - AMÉLIE
Tumblr media
Amélie is a quirky individual who is known for her reserved nature and her giving personality. She cares very deeply about making other people happy, and sometimes she will go so far as to put other people's needs before her own. Since the majority of people with the INFP personality type are wildly empathetic, they can often forget to take care of their own desires because they are too busy trying to help others. They are extremely selfless in that way, and this behavior describes Amélie to a T. She is also incredibly imaginative and creative, which is why she's always fantasizing about dazzling worlds that are far from reach.
3 SABRINA - SABRINA
Tumblr media
Sabrina is a character who wants nothing more than to find love. She is crazy about a man named David, and she is willing to go great lengths in order to win his affection. Yet unfortunately for Sabrina, David refuses to notice her. INFPs have a bad habit of yearning for what they can't have. Like most people with this personality type, they will do just about anything in the name of love. Audrey Hepburn herself is typed as an INFP, so it's no wonder her personality emulates throughout her films.
2 ELIO - CALL ME BY YOUR NAME
Tumblr media
Elio from the romance film Call Me By Your Name is very much an INFP. While he is extremely bookish and intelligent, he leads by his emotions rather than logic and he wears his heart on his sleeve.
RELATED: Netflix Originals: The 10 Most Popular Teen Rom-Coms, Ranked (According To IMDb)
As is the case for all INFP personality types, Elio is incredibly sensitive due to his high levels of emotional intelligence. He loves to read and be alone as well, and his imagination is endless. Timothee Chalamet's character is a total INFP.
1 CELINE - BEFORE SUNRISE
Tumblr media
Celine in Before Sunrise embodies the "mediator" personality type. Her character is a great listener, and she loves to discuss theories and ideas rather than engaging in small talk. There is nothing an INFP hates more than small talk because they have no interest in surface-level conversations. When they are getting to know someone, they want to get to the heart and soul of that other person and they will be unafraid to get to a deeper level with a person that most people would never be willing to reach.

Mickey Rooney (born Ninnian Joseph Yule Jr.; September 23, 1920 – April 6, 2014) was an American actor, vaudevillian, comedian, producer and radio personality. In a career spanning nine decades and continuing until shortly before his death, he appeared in more than 300 films and was among the last surviving stars of the silent-film era.
At the height of a career that was marked by declines and comebacks, Rooney performed the role of Andy Hardy in a series of 16 films in the 1930's and 1940's that epitomized American family values. A versatile performer, he became a celebrated character actor later in his career. Laurence Olivier once said he considered Rooney "the best there has ever been". Clarence Brown, who directed him in two of his earliest dramatic roles, National Velvet and The Human Comedy, said he was "the closest thing to a genius I ever worked with".
Rooney first performed in vaudeville as a child and made his film debut at the age of six. At 14, he played Puck in the play and later the 1935 film adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Critic David Thomson hailed his performance as "one of the cinema's most arresting pieces of magic". In 1938, he co-starred in Boys Town. At 18, he was the first teenager to be nominated for an Oscar for his leading role in Babes in Arms, and he was awarded a special Academy Juvenile Award in 1939.[4] At the peak of his career between the ages of 15 and 25, he made 43 films, which made him one of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's most consistently successful actors and a favorite of MGM studio head Louis B. Mayer.
Rooney was the top box-office attraction from 1939 to 1941 and one of the best-paid actors of that era, but his career would never again rise to such heights. Drafted into the Army during World War II, he served nearly two years entertaining over two million troops on stage and radio and was awarded a Bronze Star for performing in combat zones. Returning from the war in 1945, he was too old for juvenile roles but too short to be an adult movie star, and was unable to get as many starring roles although there are numerous inexpensively made but critically well-received films noir with Rooney playing the lead during the post-war period and 1950s. Nevertheless, Rooney's popularity was renewed with well-received supporting roles in films such as Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961) with Audrey Hepburn, Requiem for a Heavyweight (1962) with Anthony Quinn and Jackie Gleason, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963), and The Black Stallion (1979). In the early 1980s, he returned to Broadway in Sugar Babies and again became a celebrated star. Rooney made hundreds of appearances on TV, including dramas, variety programs, and talk shows, and won an Emmy in 1982 plus a Golden Globe for his role in Bill (1981).
Rooney was born Ninnian Joseph Yule Jr. on September 23, 1920 in Brooklyn, New York, the only child of vaudevillians Nellie W. Carter, from Kansas City, Missouri and Joe Yule, a native of Glasgow, Scotland. His mother was a former chorus girl and a burlesque performer. When Rooney was born, his parents were appearing in a Brooklyn production of A Gaiety Girl. Rooney later recounted in his memoirs that he began performing at the age of 17 months as part of his parents' routine, wearing a specially tailored tuxedo.
Rooney's parents separated when he was four years old in 1924, and he and his mother moved to Hollywood the following year from Greenpoint, Brooklyn. He made his first film appearance at age six in 1926, in the short Not to be Trusted. Rooney got bit parts in films such as The Beast of the City (1932) and The Life of Jimmy Dolan (1933), which allowed him to work alongside stars such as Joel McCrea, Colleen Moore, Clark Gable, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., John Wayne and Jean Harlow. He enrolled in the Hollywood Professional School and later attended Hollywood High School, graduating in 1938.
His mother saw an advertisement for a child to play the role of "Mickey McGuire" in a series of short films. Rooney got the role and became "Mickey" for 78 of the films, running from 1927 to 1936, starting with Mickey's Circus (1927), his first starring role. During this period, he also briefly voiced Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. He made other films in his adolescence, including several more of the McGuire films. At age 14, he played the role of Puck in the Warner Brothers all-star adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream in 1935. Rooney then moved to MGM, where he befriended Judy Garland, with whom he began making a series of musicals that propelled both of them to stardom.
In 1937, Rooney was selected to portray Andy Hardy in A Family Affair, which MGM had planned as a B-movie.[14] Rooney provided comic relief as the son of Judge James K. Hardy, portrayed by Lionel Barrymore (although former silent film leading man Lewis Stone played the role of Judge Hardy in subsequent pictures). The film was an unexpected success, and led to 13 more Andy Hardy films between 1937 and 1946, and a final film in 1958.
According to author Barry Monush, MGM wanted the Andy Hardy films to appeal to all family members. Rooney's character portrayed a typical "anxious, hyperactive, girl-crazy teenager", and he soon became the unintended main star of the films. Although some critics describe the series of films as "sweet, overly idealized, and pretty much interchangeable," their ultimate success was because they gave viewers a "comforting portrait of small-town America that seemed suited for the times", with Rooney instilling "a lasting image of what every parent wished their teen could be like".
Behind the scenes, however, Rooney was like the "hyperactive girl-crazy teenager" he portrayed on the screen. Wallace Beery, his co-star in Stablemates, described him as a "brat", but a "fine actor". MGM head Louis B. Mayer found it necessary to manage Rooney's public image, explains historian Jane Ellen Wayne:
Mayer naturally tried to keep all his child actors in line, like any father figure. After one such episode, Mickey Rooney replied, "I won't do it. You're asking the impossible." Mayer then grabbed young Rooney by his lapels and said, "Listen to me! I don't care what you do in private. Just don't do it in public. In public, behave. Your fans expect it. You're Andy Hardy! You're the United States! You're the Stars and Stripes. Behave yourself! You're a symbol!" Mickey nodded. "I'll be good, Mr. Mayer. I promise you that." Mayer let go of his lapels, "All right," he said.
Fifty years later, Rooney realized in hindsight that these early confrontations with Mayer were necessary for him to develop into a leading film star: "Everybody butted heads with him, but he listened and you listened. And then you'd come to an agreement you could both live with. ... He visited the sets, he gave people talks ... What he wanted was something that was American, presented in a cosmopolitan manner."
In 1937, Rooney made his first film alongside Judy Garland with Thoroughbreds Don't Cry. Garland and Rooney became close friends as they co-starred in future films and became a successful song-and-dance team. Audiences delighted in seeing the "playful interactions between the two stars showcase a wonderful chemistry".[27] Along with three of the Andy Hardy films, where she portrayed a girl attracted to Andy, they appeared together in a string of successful musicals, including Babes in Arms (1939). During an interview in the 1992 documentary film MGM: When the Lion Roars, Rooney describes their friendship:[28]
Judy and I were so close we could've come from the same womb. We weren't like brothers or sisters but there was no love affair there; there was more than a love affair. It's very, very difficult to explain the depths of our love for each other. It was so special. It was a forever love. Judy, as we speak, has not passed away. She's always with me in every heartbeat of my body.
In 1937, Rooney received top billing as Shockey Carter in Hoosier Schoolboy but his breakthrough-role as a dramatic actor came in 1938's Boys Town opposite Spencer Tracy as Father Flanagan, who runs a home for wayward and homeless boys. Rooney was awarded a special Juvenile Academy Award in 1939, for "significant contribution in bringing to the screen the spirit and personification of youth". Wayne describes one of the "most famous scenes" in the film, where tough young Rooney is playing poker with a cigarette in his mouth, his hat is cocked and his feet are up on the table. "Tracy grabs him by the lapels, throws the cigarette away and pushes him into a chair. 'That's better,' he tells Mickey." Louis B. Mayer said Boys Town was his favorite film during his years at MGM.
The popularity of his films made Rooney the biggest box-office draw in 1939, 1940 and 1941. For their roles in Boys Town, Rooney and Tracy won first and second place in the Motion Picture Herald 1940 National Poll of Exhibitors, based on the box office appeal of 200 players. Boys' Life magazine wrote, "Congratulations to Messrs. Rooney and Tracy! Also to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer we extend a hearty thanks for their very considerable part in this outstanding achievement." Actor Laurence Olivier once called Rooney "the greatest actor of them all".
A major star in the early 1940s, he appeared on the cover of Time magazine in 1940, timed to coincide with the release of Young Tom Edison; the cover story began:
Hollywood's No. 1 box office bait in 1939 was not Clark Gable, Errol Flynn or Tyrone Power, but a rope-haired, kazoo-voiced kid with a comic-strip face, who until this week had never appeared in a picture without mugging or overacting it. His name (assumed) was Mickey Rooney, and to a large part of the more articulate U.S. cinema audience, his name was becoming a frequently used synonym for brat.
During his long and illustrious career, Rooney also worked with many of the screen's female stars, including Elizabeth Taylor in National Velvet (1944) and Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961)." With his appearing with Marilyn Monroe in The Fireball (1950) and with Grace Kelly in The Bridges at Toko-Ri (1954), Rooney is the only actor ever co-starring with four of the greatest female screen legends ever. Rooney's "bumptiousness and boyish charm" as an actor developed more "smoothness and polish" over the years, writes biographer Scott Eyman. The fact that Rooney fully enjoyed his life as an actor played a large role in those changes:
You weren't going to work, you were going to have fun. It was home, everybody was cohesive; it was family. One year I made nine pictures; I had to go from one set to another. It was like I was on a conveyor belt. You did not read a script and say, "I guess I'll do it." You did it. They had people that knew the kind of stories that were suited to you. It was a conveyor belt that made motion pictures.
Clarence Brown, who directed Rooney in his Oscar-nominated performance in The Human Comedy (1943) and again in National Velvet (1944), enjoyed working with Rooney in films:
Mickey Rooney is the closest thing to a genius that I ever worked with. There was Chaplin, then there was Rooney. The little bastard could do no wrong in my book ... All you had to do with him was rehearse it once.
In June 1944, Rooney was inducted into the United States Army, where he served more than 21 months (until shortly after the end of World War II) entertaining the troops in America and Europe in Special Services. He spent part of the time as a radio personality on the American Forces Network and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for entertaining troops in combat zones. In addition to the Bronze Star Medal, Rooney also received the Army Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and World War II Victory Medal, for his military service.
Rooney's career slumped after his return to civilian life. He was now an adult with a height of only 5 feet 2 inches (1.57 m) and he could no longer play the role of a teenager, but he also lacked the stature of most leading men. He appeared in a number of films, including Words and Music in 1948, which paired him for the last time with Garland on film (he appeared with her on one episode as a guest on The Judy Garland Show). He briefly starred in a CBS radio series, Shorty Bell, in the summer of 1948, and reprised his role as "Andy Hardy", with most of the original cast, in a syndicated radio version of The Hardy Family in 1949 and 1950 (repeated on Mutual during 1952).
In 1949 Variety reported that Rooney had renegotiated his deal with MGM. He agreed to make one film a year for them for five years at $25,000 a movie (his fee until then had been $100,000 but Rooney wanted to enter independent production.) Rooney claimed he was unhappy with the billing MGM gave him for Words and Music.
His first television series, The Mickey Rooney Show, also known as Hey, Mulligan, was created by Blake Edwards with Rooney as his own producer, and appeared on NBC television for 32 episodes between August 28, 1954 and June 4, 1955.[46] In 1951, he made his directorial debut with My True Story, starring Helen Walker.[47] Rooney also starred as a ragingly egomaniacal television comedian, loosely based on Red Buttons, in the live 90-minute television drama The Comedian, in the Playhouse 90 series on the evening of Valentine's Day in 1957, and as himself in a revue called The Musical Revue of 1959 based on the 1929 film The Hollywood Revue of 1929, which was edited into a film in 1960.
In 1958, Rooney joined Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra in hosting an episode of NBC's short-lived Club Oasis comedy and variety show. In 1960, Rooney directed and starred in The Private Lives of Adam and Eve, an ambitious comedy known for its multiple flashbacks and many cameos. In the 1960s, Rooney returned to theatrical entertainment. He still accepted film roles in undistinguished films but occasionally appeared in better works, such as Requiem for a Heavyweight (1962) and It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963).
He portrayed a Japanese character, Mr. Yunioshi, in the 1961 film version of Truman Capote's novella Breakfast at Tiffany's. His performance was criticized by some in subsequent years as a racist stereotype. Rooney later said that he would not have taken the role if he had known it would offend people.
On December 31, 1961, Rooney appeared on television's What's My Line and mentioned that he had already started enrolling students in the MRSE (Mickey Rooney School of Entertainment). His school venture never came to fruition. This was a period of professional distress for Rooney; as a childhood friend, director Richard Quine put it: "Let's face it. It wasn't all that easy to find roles for a 5-foot-3 man who'd passed the age of Andy Hardy." In 1962, his debts had forced him into filing for bankruptcy.
In 1966, Rooney was working on the film Ambush Bay in the Philippines when his wife Barbara Ann Thomason— a former model and aspiring actress who had won 17 straight beauty contests in Southern California—was found dead in her bed. Her lover, Milos Milos—who was one of Rooney's actor-friends—was found dead beside her. Detectives ruled it a murder-suicide, which was committed with Rooney's own gun.
Francis Ford Coppola had bought the rights to make The Black Stallion (1979), and when casting it, he called Rooney and asked him if he thought he could play a jockey. Rooney replied saying, "Gee, I don't know. I never played a jockey before." He was kidding, he said, since he had played a jockey in at least three past films, including Down the Stretch, Thoroughbreds Don't Cry, and National Velvet. The film garnered excellent reviews and earned $40 million in its first run, which gave Coppola's struggling studio, American Zoetrope, a major boost. It also gave Rooney newfound recognition, along with a nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
In 1983, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences gave Rooney their Academy Honorary Award for his lifetime of achievement.
In addition to his movie roles, Rooney made numerous guest-starring roles as a television character actor for nearly six decades, beginning with an episode of Celanese Theatre. The part led to other roles on such television series as Schlitz Playhouse, Playhouse 90, Producers' Showcase, Alcoa Theatre, The Soldiers, Wagon Train, General Electric Theater, Hennesey, The Dick Powell Theatre, Arrest and Trial (1964), Burke's Law (1963), Combat! (1964), The Fugitive, Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theatre, The Jean Arthur Show (1966), The Name of the Game (1970), Dan August (1970), Night Gallery (1970)
In 1961, he guest-starred in the 13-week James Franciscus adventure–drama CBS television series The Investigators. In 1962, he was cast as himself in the episode "The Top Banana" of the CBS sitcom, Pete and Gladys, starring Harry Morgan and Cara Williams.
In 1963, he entered CBS's The Twilight Zone, giving a one-man performance in the episode "The Last Night of a Jockey" (1963). Also in 1963, in 'The Hunt' for Suspense Theater, he played the sadistic sheriff hunting the young surfer played by James Caan. In 1964, he launched another half-hour sitcom, Mickey. The story line had "Mickey" operating a resort hotel in southern California. His own son Tim Rooney appeared as his character's teenage son on this program, and Emmaline Henry starred as Rooney's wife. The program lasted for 17 episodes.
When Norman Lear was developing All in the Family in 1970, he wanted Rooney for the lead role of Archie Bunker.[66] Rooney turned Lear down; and the role eventually went to Carroll O'Connor.
Rooney garnered a Golden Globe and an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or a Special for his role in 1981's Bill. Playing opposite Dennis Quaid, Rooney's character was a mentally handicapped man attempting to live on his own after leaving an institution. His acting quality in the film has been favorably compared to other actors who took on similar roles, including Sean Penn, Dustin Hoffman and Tom Hanks. He reprised his role in 1983's Bill: On His Own, earning an Emmy nomination for the turn.
Rooney did voice acting from time to time. He provided the voice of Santa Claus in four stop-motion animated Christmas TV specials: Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town (1970), The Year Without a Santa Claus (1974), Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July (1979) and A Miser Brothers' Christmas (2008). In 1995, he appeared as himself on The Simpsons episode "Radioactive Man".
After starring in one unsuccessful TV series and turning down an offer for a huge TV series, Rooney, now 70, starred in the Family Channel's The Adventures of the Black Stallion, where he reprised his role as Henry Dailey in the film of the same name, eleven years earlier. The series ran for three years and was an international hit.
Rooney appeared in television commercials for Garden State Life Insurance Company in 2002.
A major turning point came in 1979, when Rooney made his Broadway debut in the acclaimed stage play Sugar Babies, a musical revue tribute to the burlesque era costarring former MGM dancing star Ann Miller. Aljean Harmetz noted that "Mr. Rooney fought over every skit and argued over every song and almost always got things done his way. The show opened on Broadway on October 8, 1979, to rave reviews, and this time he did not throw success away. Rooney and Miller performed the show 1,208 times in New York and then toured with it for five years, including eight months in London. Co-star Miller recalls that Rooney "never missed a performance or a chance to ad-lib or read the lines the same way twice, if he even stuck to the script". Biographer Alvin Marill states that "at 59, Mickey Rooney was reincarnated as a baggy-pants comedian—back as a top banana in show biz in his belated Broadway debut."
Following this, he toured as Pseudelous in Stephen Sondheim's A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. In the 1990s, he returned to Broadway for the final months of Will Rogers Follies, playing the ghost of Will's father. On television, he starred in the short-lived sitcom, One of the Boys, along with two unfamiliar young stars, Dana Carvey and Nathan Lane, in 1982.
He toured Canada in a dinner theatre production of The Mind with the Naughty Man in the mid-1990s. He played The Wizard in a stage production of The Wizard of Oz with Eartha Kitt at Madison Square Garden. Kitt was later replaced by Jo Anne Worley.
Rooney wrote a memoir titled Life is Too Short, published by Villard Books in 1991. A Library Journal review said that "From title to the last line, 'I'll have a short bier', Rooney's self-deprecating humor powers this book." He wrote a novel about a child star, published in 1994, The Search For Sunny Skies.
Despite the millions of dollars that he earned over the years, such as his $65,000 a week earnings from Sugar Babies, Rooney was plagued by financial problems late in life. His longtime gambling habit caused him to "gamble away his fortune again and again". He declared bankruptcy for the second time in 1996 and described himself as "broke" in 2005. He kept performing on stage and in the movies, but his personal property was valued at only $18,000 when he died in 2014.
Rooney and his wife Jan toured the country in 2005 through 2011 in a musical revue called Let's Put on a Show. Vanity Fair called it "a homespun affair full of dog-eared jokes" that featured Rooney singing George Gershwin songs.
In 2006, Rooney played Gus in Night at the Museum. He returned to play the role again in the sequel Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian in 2009, in a scene that was deleted from the final film.
On May 26, 2007, he was grand marshal at the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival. Rooney made his British pantomime debut, playing Baron Hardup in Cinderella, at the Sunderland Empire Theatre over the 2007 Christmas period, a role he reprised at Bristol Hippodrome in 2008 and at the Milton Keynes theatre in 2009.
In 2011, Rooney made a cameo appearance in The Muppets and in 2014, at age 93, he reprised his role as Gus in Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, which was dedicated to him and to Robin Williams, who also died that year. Although confined to a wheelchair, he was described by director Shawn Levy as "energetic and so pleased to be there. He was just happy to be invited to the party."
An October 2015 article in The Hollywood Reporter maintained that Rooney was frequently abused and financially depleted by his closest relatives in the last years of his life. The article said that it was clear that "one of the biggest stars of all time, who remained aloft longer than anyone in Hollywood history, was in the end brought down by those closest to him. He died humiliated and betrayed, nearly broke and often broken." Rooney suffered from bipolar disorder and had attempted suicide two or three times over the years, with resulting hospitalizations reported as "nervous breakdowns".
At the time of his death, he was married to Jan Chamberlin Rooney, although they had separated in June 2012. He had nine children and two stepchildren, as well as 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Rooney had been addicted to sleeping pills, and overcame the sleeping pill addiction in 2000 when he was in his late 70s.
In the late 1970s, Rooney became a born-again Christian and was a fan of Pat Robertson.
In 1997, Rooney was arrested on suspicion of beating his wife, Jan, but charges were dropped due to lack of evidence.
On February 16, 2011, Rooney was granted a temporary restraining order against stepson Christopher Aber and Aber's wife, Christina, and they were ordered to stay 100 yards from Rooney, his stepson Mark Rooney and Mark's wife, Charlene Rooney. Rooney claimed that he was a victim of elder abuse.
On March 2, 2011, Rooney appeared before a special U.S. Senate committee that was considering legislation to curb elder abuse, testifying about the abuse he claimed to have suffered at the hands of family members. In 2011, all of Rooney's finances were permanently handed over to a conservator, who called Rooney "completely competent".
In April 2011, the temporary restraining order that Rooney was previously granted was replaced by a confidential settlement between Rooney and his stepson, Aber. Christopher Aber and Jan Rooney denied all the allegations.
In May 2013, Rooney sold his home of many years, reportedly for $1.3 million, and split the proceeds with his wife, Jan.
Rooney was married eight times, with six of the marriages ending in divorce. In 1942, he married his first wife, actress Ava Gardner, who at that time was still an obscure teenage starlet. They divorced the following year, partly because he had apparently been unfaithful. While stationed in the military in Alabama in 1944, Rooney met and married Betty Jane Phillips, who later became a singer under the name B.J. Baker. They had two sons together. This marriage ended in divorce after he returned from Europe at the end of World War II. His marriage to actress Martha Vickers in 1949 produced one son but ended in divorce in 1951. He married actress Elaine Mahnken in 1952 and they divorced in 1958.
In 1958, Rooney married model-actress Barbara Ann Thomason. She was murdered in 1966 by stuntman and actor Milos Milos, who then shot himself. Thomason and Milos had an affair while Rooney was traveling, and police theorized Milos shot her after she wanted to break off the affair. Rooney then married Barbara's best friend, Marge Lane. That marriage lasted 100 days.
He was married to Carolyn Hockett from 1969 to 1975. In 1978, Rooney married his eighth and final wife, Jan Chamberlin. Their marriage lasted until his death, a total of 34 years (longer than his seven previous unions combined), although they separated in 2012.
Rooney died on April 6, 2014 of natural causes, including complications from diabetes, in Los Angeles at the age of 93. A group of family members and friends, including Mickey Rourke, held a memorial service on April 18. A private funeral, organized by another set of family members, was held at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, where he was interred, on April 19. His eight surviving children said in a statement that they were barred from seeing Rooney during his final years.
At his death, Vanity Fair called him "the original Hollywood train wreck". He struggled with alcohol and pill addiction. Ava Gardner was his first wife, and he married an additional seven times. Despite earning millions during his career, he had to file for bankruptcy in 1962 due to mismanagement of his finances. Shortly before his death in 2014 at age 93, he accused some family members of mistreatment and testified before Congress about what he said was physical abuse and exploitation by family members. By the end of his life, his millions in earnings had dwindled to an estate that was valued at only $18,000. He died owing medical bills and back taxes, and contributions were solicited from the public.
Rooney was one of the last surviving actors of the silent film era. His film career spanned 88 years, from 1926 to 2014, continuing until shortly before his death. During his peak years from the late 1930s to the early 1940s, Rooney was among the top box-office stars in the United States.
He made forty-three pictures between the age of 15 and 25. Among those, his role as Andy Hardy became one of "Hollywood's best-loved characters," with Marlon Brando calling him "the best actor in films".
"There was nothing he couldn't do", said actress Margaret O'Brien.[109] MGM boss Louis B. Mayer treated him like a son and saw in Rooney "the embodiment of the amiable American boy who stands for family, humbug, and sentiment," writes critic and author, David Thomson.
By the time Rooney was 20, his consistent portrayals of characters with youth and energy suggested that his future success was unlimited. Thomson also explains that Rooney's characters were able to cover a wide range of emotional types, and gives three examples where "Rooney is not just an actor of genius, but an artist able to maintain a stylized commentary on the demon impulse of the small, belligerent man:"
Rooney's Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream (1935) is truly inhuman, one of cinema's most arresting pieces of magic. ... His toughie in Boys Town (1938) struts and bullies like something out of a nightmare and then comes clean in a grotesque but utterly frank outburst of sentimentality in which he aspires to the boy community ... His role as Baby Face Nelson (1957), the manic, destructive response of the runt against a pig society.
By the end of the 1940s, Rooney's movie characters were no longer in demand and his career went downhill. "In 1938," he said, "I starred in eight pictures. In 1948 and 1949 together, I starred in only three." However, film historian Jeanine Basinger notes that although his career "reached the heights and plunged to the depths, Rooney kept on working and growing, the mark of a professional." Some of the films which reinvigorated his popularity, were Requiem for a Heavyweight (1962), It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963) and The Black Stallion (1979). In the early 1980s, he returned to Broadway in Sugar Babies, and "found himself once more back on top".
Basinger tries to encapsulate Rooney's career:
Rooney's abundant talent, like his film image, might seem like a metaphor for America: a seemingly endless supply of natural resources that could never dry up, but which, it turned out, could be ruined by excessive use and abuse, by arrogance or power, and which had to be carefully tended to be returned to full capacity. From child star to character actor, from movie shorts to television specials, and from films to Broadway, Rooney ultimately did prove he could do it all, do it well, and keep on doing it. His is a unique career, both for its versatility and its longevity.

Father
John
Misty
Where oh where do I begin? I try not to pick favorites, in anything I do. I think picking favorites sets people up for failure. I figure there will be one day another candidate outshines the favorite, resulting in disappointment. But fuck it, Father John Misty is my favorite. And I trust it because there is virtually nothing he can do wrong that would take that title away- and he does a lot of textbook things “wrong”.
Josh Tillman stole my heart when I heard “I’m Writing a Novel” on WFUV Radio when I was in college (around 2012) Not knowing much about him personally, I started listening to “Fear Fun” and fell in love with his music. “Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings” and “Everyman Needs a Companion” landed every mixed CD (yep, still made CDS in 2012) and I decided to dig a little deeper and actually check the dude out. WOAH he’s hot! WAIT he was in Fleet Foxes? OMG he has the exact the type of humor that I adore, equal parts witty, snarky and dark. Fuck, he has a girlfriend. I’m absolutely done, they’re getting married. I can’t remember a time I fell so hard for an artist post-emo/punk/highschool days (Think Gerard Way and Travis Barker).
However, I’m really fucking glad he was and is in such a beautiful relationship because thats how his sophomore album came to be. i wasn't sure If I’d ever love an album as much as “Fear Fun” but lo & behold: “I Love You, Honeybear” took & continues to take the damn cake. Has there ever been an album (albeit, Rumours) that has described love so honestly? It talks about the honeymoon phase in depth, the ga-ga feelings and pedestals that we put our partners on in the beginning. The way new love helps us start to feel creative again, or creative in a new, fresh way. And then after time, how love can start to get a little paranoid and jealous. It’s messy, it’s raw and it sort of made me hate his beloved Emma (who eats bread & butter like like a queen would have ostrich and cobra wine. Listen if you don't get the reference but also stop talking to me: https://open.spotify.com/track/2eg2gvPXuwZ9FyrPaLgrXi) Could you I-M-A-G-I-N-E having someone write you a love song such as that? Fun fact, I heard this song for the first time freshly after ending a 4 year relationship. Bad timing? Nah, it actually was so beautiful and uplifting that the song gave me hope and made me feel secure that I haven't found the right person yet and that I didn't just lose that person (burn). It gave me hope that I’d eventually meet someone that I could picture having a satanic christmas eve with or dance around to a mariachi band with. Spoiler Alert: FJM did help me find love. I will get to that at the end. Any who, this album ruled and continue to rules my world. The title track “I Love You, Honeybear” is about taking on the shitastic world we live in with someone you love. “Bored in the USA” is about the absurdities within our pop culture and the bullshit promise of the American Dream gone wrong. The album as a whole is romantic and existentialist and I am 100%AboutThat.com
And then we were gifted “Pure Comedy”. I write that with a sigh. Not because I am disappointed but because It’s heavy. It highlights our current political and social climate and it does so in a very dark, darker than usual way. When he realeased the video for title track, “Pure Comedy” a few short months after the election I wept at my desk. The song itself is so eerie and fantastical with the baritone sax wailing the fuck off as Donald Trump’s face slyly pops up. I Think FJM is making the point that everything happening right now is so fucking ugly and wrong that it’s absurdly funny. Not haha-funny, just...funny. As in “something smells funny”, as in our country. He attacks religion, pop-stars (gotcha, Taylor Swift), environmental issues, the delusional lifestyle of LA inhabitants, you name it. But, in true Josh Tillman fashion, and we know theres a big beating heart in there, he ends the album in a hopeful way with “In Twenty Years or So”. In the song, Tillman addresses the cosmic indifference of the universe and the existential fear that comes with it. In the first two verses he sets up the great comedy: That despite all our grand gesturing and philosophizing (with the character of Father John Misty as the embodiment of this behavior), we ultimately don’t matter in the grand scheme of things. Then in the second verse he starts to assign a little more meaning to the chaos.
That in twenty years More or less This human experiment will reach its violent end But I look at you As our second drinks arrive The piano player's playing "This Must Be the Place" And it's a miracle to be alive
I *think* he’s saying, “Look, the world is fucked, we’re only getting worse, it’s too much to handle, but thank god I have you to navigate it with. And we have music, and it really all is amazing, isn't it”. I’m sorry it sounds like a basic Audrey Hepburn wannabe annotation of his beautifully written song, but It comforts me. It’s like a really elongated and philosophic way of saying “All you Need is Love”, but The Beatles beat him to it.
All in all, “Pure Comedy” takes us through a (trippy) walk of life thats starts out as that scene in Willy Wonka where they’re all taking a boat ride through the tunnel of hellish images, to a calm setting where all you want to do is hug the people you love and be left with the simple yet complex thought, “it’s all going to be okay”. Bravo FJM for creating such a mature and powerful album. I think melodically it is not for everyone, as it is much slower that what he’s done. But give it a good listen through and really listen to what he’s saying. If 2017 had to sound like anything (besides screams and tears) it would sound like “Pure Comedy”.
Kk thanks for reading.
OH WAIT, yeah I forgot this is a concert blog. Well! I saw him last night at the Kings Theatre in Flatbush, Brooklyn. A tremendously stunning place to see live music, in my opinion. He played most of “Pure Comedy” straight through, without any speeches or commentary. Nerd moment- I fuuucking love when artists do this with newly released albums. it shows they care about it, it shows they're not just trying to appease the crowd with favorites. It’s saying here is the art i just created and worked on for mad amount of time. Sit the fuck down and experience it. He did every song except the 13 minute “Leaving LA” (good call IMO) and the last two songs, yanno, the uplifiting ones. Then halfway through he broke out the oldies, a couple from “Fear Fun” and a bunch from “I Love You, Honeybear”. The whole theater was standing and dancing and watching HIM dance and holy shit I love when tall lanky men swivel their hips. Probably one of the best parts about seeing Father John Misty live is watching him break it down. He was even slow dancing with himself at one point during “Strange Encounter” and i was both turned on and hysterically laughing. One interesting point to make was that he was oddly quiet. He’s known for long on-stage rants, whether they're actually anger driven or just a comedy bit- they usually always show up on Pitchfork the next day. This was my third time seeing him and i’ve had the pleasure of hearing some of those rants and raves. This time he was quiet, appreciative and...mature? IDK I really liked it. I think it mimicked the seriousness of his newest album and demanded that you pay attention to the music and what it’s trying to say. I noticed a bunch of Brooklyn bros at the end of the show making comments like “he wasn't that funny!” “I thought he was going to talk more” and thats fine, but maybe consider why that is. After he came back on for his encore he played the last two songs on “Pure Comedy” and ended on a very special and postive note with a v sweet sun and moon setting in the background. Father John Misty is giving us hope.
Also I felt this deserved it’s own paragraph but his band absolutely blew me away. I would 100% go see them live without vocals. He had an entire orchestra + five piece band. Another additive to the experience compared to past Father John Misty concerts, as he’s always played with just a 5 piece band. It made the album come alive in the most spectacular way.
All in all, he is still my favorite. I hope to see much more from him in the future because I think he has a really really good thing going on on all levels. So back on the topic on Father John Misty and hoping to find love. JOSH, BABE. if you ever see this, I owe you some thanks. If it weren't for you and if it weren't for Tinder syncing my Facebook page likes, I never would have matched with my current partner whom we both share a massive and almost grotesque love for you & we wouldn't have anything to talk about on our first date, or a an album to makeout to for the first time. so really, thanks. At the risk of sounding like a cheese dick, It’s amazing to me that your song, the one that gave me hope and an idea of an ideal partner, led me to so much happiness. Awwwww.
Steam “Pure Comedy” & go through an existential crisis, today! https://open.spotify.com/album/3CoFoDt6zt5EKxmTpOX32b

6 Movies I Can Watch Anytime
I was tagged by @reasoniwantyoutostay to list 6 movies I am always willing to watch.
The first three all star the great Katharine Hepburn. Audrey Hepburn gets a lot of love for being a fashion icon, and she was wonderful. But Katharine was something entirely different. My 3 favorites of hers are: - Desk Set - she plays a reference librarian, acting with Spencer Tracy. Also counts as one of my favorite Christmas movies. Might have influenced my desire to become a librarian. - Bringing Up Baby - Kate shares the screen with Cary Grant, a dog, a leopard, and a dinosaur bone, and hijinks ensue. A perfect comedy if there ever was one. - The Philadelphia Story - rom-com at its finest. Kate stars again with Cary Grant, and the added bonus of Jimmy Stewart. Before this movie, Kate was basically blackballed in Hollywood, and this movie saved her from that. That says a LOT about how awesome she is in it.
Fourth would be In America. An Irish family moves to the US in the 80s. The cast is perfect, and I can never watch it without crying.
My fifth movie would be Good Will Hunting. Robin Williams and Matt Damon are wonderful and Ben Affleck plays a great best friend. Love this one.
Sixth, I will go with my favorite 2016 movie - Sing Street. Set in Ireland in the 80s (yes, I have a thing for Ireland, but not for the 80s so this and In America are a coincidence), it’s about a teen boy who decides to start a band in the hopes of impressing a girl. I never really bought the romance, but the relationships the main character has with his fellow band members and his brother are perfect. The music is great and I will forever be mad that none of the songs were nominated for an Oscar.
I’m supposed to tag more people, but I would just tag the same people @reasoniwantyoutostay did, so I’ll skip it.
