Syrah
Wine of the week chosen as it is an unusual Bordeaux. Bordeaux is typically made of a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. This iteration features a single grape varietal, putting the spotlight on Syrah. Biodynamically farmed, hand harvested and produced in Graves (known for its intensely gravelly soil), it is resolutely a Bordeaux but with a difference.
As is typical of Syrah it is full bodied, juicy, slightly meaty with a touch of spice.
Serious notes of blackberry jam, chocolate, eucalyptus, menthol, forest fruits, tobacco leaf, allspice, baked red fruits and bacon. Deep ruby purple but with garnet hues from 12 months in French oak.
A dry but supremely juicy, weighty red with great acidity.
Tasting notes: blackberry, baked red fruit, eucalyptus, forest fruit, tobacco leaf, allspice, bacon, star anise
Pairing: game, chocolate, fattier fish and meat
Similar to: wines from the Rhone region, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Is Nate technically a carnivore since he has fangs?
While this would have worked for other variant species, Nathaniel doesn't abide by the rules of nature in any respect, especially as an atypical-form shifter.
His body has a predisposition towards humanoid forms, so it's safe to assume he'd have the same overall conditions that a human would- omnivorous. He's made a nutritional plan for himself that incorporates more veggies and less saturated fats. Ew! boring!
(Can you tell I love talking about Variant physiology)

this is going to be a dumb af question but... BBQ is supposed to taste like something, right? Like even before you put sauce on it? Right? Or is it only the sauce supposed to give it flavor and the meat only cooked?

i think that if Lightyear (2022) didn't have the meat-bread-meat sandwich scene i would like the movie way more. the sandwitch gag was just so flabbergasting and honestly gross (so unhygienic!!!) that it yanked me out of the "being immersed in a story with my disbelief suspended" into "Who In Their Right Mind Wrote This Into The Movie Script. Am I, The Viewer, Supposed To Think This Is Funny?" soooo fast (and it was already losing me with all the new watery characters and the lackluster zurg plotline). there's a cool scifi story happening before & after that scene and Those events are always shown as something natural, i guess (within the setting they make total sense, i mean), and i always trust the main character to know what to do and Belong in the story. but the sandwiches were weird and alien even to him and even moreso weird and alien to me by extension... and that feeling of weirdness contributed to nothing re: mood of the moment/overarching plot/character development and it wasnt even FUNNY. if the creators wanted to include the sandwich so bad they needed to have zurg eat it to show what a deranged freak he is.
