yeah i know it is strange to say, that dx has more main characters that just. Adam, JC and Alex D, cuz. They are Literally The Main chars. But back to my seven.
As i said before i love them all equally, for different reasons. One thing abt dx as a game is that characters arent plain and they are multifaceted.(?)
Adam
I love Adam for his complicated story, personality, for his own struggles, motivations and how they are represented in game. These small environment storytelling pieces and music that creates the mood (wait redswa it isnt abt the environment). What im trying to say. Through the gameS - dxhr and dxmd - we can see how Adam is healing from his trauma, and how heavy it was. Also needet to be noted how he interacts w another characters. AND this tension between him and Frank but how at the end of the day (but lit at panchaea) Frank is still cares a lot abt Adam.
Also Adam is just like my bestie. Moral think for yourself. Yeah.
Pritchard
ONE thing i need to say abt frank is HESSS JUST LIKE MEE FRR, and now imagine some kind of cringe sigma phonk playing on the background. Yeah thats it. I relate to him so much but like. in more✨deep infj cringe way✨ Have you evere feel like Pritchard is gonna explode from nerves or even neurotism? Or like from blast of incomperhensible mess of feelings but he hides it? This is what im talking about. Heyy dont judge me i need to project some shit to my faves okay???? Damn how could you tell i have a lot of hc on dx? i have no idea!
I love Pritchard's informality. I mean. BRO WHY YOUR BIKE IS EVEN ON YOUR WORKPLACE???? AND THIS FINAL FANTASY POSTER???? AND THIS TV INSTALLATION??? honestly?understandable.
In Prague, Frank is still reminds Adam abt himself. Yeah i knoe it is for game purposes, but imo in lore perspective: Pritchard is gathered a lot of info for Adam (basically dxhr retelling), and this small detail: Adam keeps Pritchard's book. (i know you can find them anywhere in Prague, but still (methink eidos gaf later abt this texture and put it anywhere jus because lmao))

Megan and Malik.
Another notable thing that i like in dx series is that women in game arent sexualized. They arend "simple and f🤮ckable objescts" Megan is a scientist, on a verge of the greatest innovation. Yes. We dont know much abt her bc she is literally missing. Malik is a pilot. Damn i love her sm. Her chardesign. Strong and powerful charisma and nonconfotmity. Faridah's sidequest in Hengsha???? MY GIRLLLL GO AND GET AND BEAT SHIT OF THIS ASSHOLE. 👊👊👊👊
I remember how sad was i, when Malik was killed in dxhr and how happy was i to find out her little gift in Prague.
Overall kinda sad that there is not much screentime of them.
AND another notable thing. Megan and revolver. Revolver as an inspiration. OK I GOT IT
Eliza
Its 2028 and AI is already taken big steps in development. Questions of self-consciousness of an AI were asked in a lot of sci-fi creations. And deus is not not an exception. Love how Eliza obtains her own conscious during the game and how it leads to project Hyron at the end. I have a lot of thought abt p. Hyron overall. Another topic ngl.
And ofc her design is beyond all praise. Thank you designers for NOT making her oversexualized.
During dxmd Eliza is also questioning a lot of essential questions. I know she does. But cant remember what exactly it was. Need to replay tho

Love him for his light distinctive punkie nature, with big heart and ready to help whenever you need it. Vaclav tries his best so much. In library we can find cz-eng vocabulary with medical terms, when ig most of his patiens are czechs... says a lot
I would say that vaclav is silly but not stupid, not even naive. We can find him on Dvali's blacklist, but he is important for them. (but we also remember that otar just dont like him cuz vac knows radich's secret and otar is not (mb that the reason why vaclav is blacklisted))

Deus Ex in Yuletide 2022
Did I mentioned the Deus Ex series is nominated in this year's Yuletide fic exchange too? And presumably there's at least a couple of others interested, because folks have nominated 14 different characters (and you can only nominated 4 each). I watched Hbomberguy’s “Deus Ex Human Revolution was Fine and here’s why” and now I also want this game I’ve never played to have been better.
Adam had so much important thematic shit happen to him. Literally a test subject from birth, grew up in a lower middle class household with a disabled mother (major depression), studied criminal justice and became a police officer, then left the force after an incident that showed him that what he was doing wasn’t actually just, specifically for refusing to kill a child, went to work for his long term GF’s boss, who btw she was stealing his DNA for to experiment with without his consent, who he then had a breakup with and was on awkward terms, whilst the head of cyber security tried to undermine him at his job because he wasn’t actually there for his credentials, but because they wanted to sample him; got essentially killed in a horrific attack, and then his boss just decided to rebuild him into the company’s personal robot without a second thought--no, worse, is excited about it because his tissue is compatible with their mechanics. And the company treats him like it; even though it’s somewhat implied, via his past and some of the gameplay that he does have strong internal values and morals, and is not a killing machine.
IDK how much, if any of this they explored in mankind divided, I’m a fake fan and haven’t played, but there is so much trauma they could have explored, and Adam’s own experience would have played in nicely to the story beats Hbomberguy mentioned in his video, and more; ethics of consent, of morality and proper research and who it serves. The devs clearly wanted to focus on Adam as his character; so we should have gotten more vulnerability from him. Instead it was just “man with triangle face look cool do super stuff”. SMH.
Anyway Adam Jenson new problematic fav. Also I decided Malik is trans because I want trans characters and I think it would be an interesting dynamic to relate between gender dysphoria and body dysmorphia. (I don’t ship them, I ship Jenson with tHERAPY and Malik is his best friend now.)

It’s been six months after the first regular check-up at LIMB, and now, a year after the augmentation surgery, a doctor from Biomedica calls him and asks for an online meeting. They discuss Vincent’s augmentations and their use at length, and the doctor informs him that there are upgrades available. Seeing as they had give him the standard issue medical augmentation, they now also have developed another version of both arms which are more suitable for emergency situations.

The howling of the siren is not something that stresses him. It’s something that gives him focus. But sometimes, like right now, it is a sound grating on his nerves like a shard of glass. Because the ambulance just doesn’t move. The traffic jam caused by the accident is so bad, cars have illegally pulled onto the hard shoulder, and now that’s clogged as well. Cars do what they can to pull to either side, and the ambulance inches forward, so infuriatingly slow.
“I’d be faster if I ran,” Vincent mutters, staring out of the side window. “Fecking eejits.”

Both men looked up, and Pritchard looked as puzzled as Adam felt about the appearance of their boss in the Tech Lab. If Sarif left his office, it had to be damn important. Adam took a step back, behind Pritchard’s chair, and crossed his arms.
“Frank.” Sarif sighed. “I have a real challenge for you. In fact, I don’t think it’s even possible, but if anyone can do it, it’s you.”
“I’m kind of flattered,” Pritchard said. “What is it?”

You didn't think I'd draw Dragon!Adam without his bffitww* did you?
Points at Paths In The Sky's tags: The best M/F friendship dynamic is and will always be Pure of Heart, Dumb of Ass; and Lesbian.
I'll maybe? if people want? post how griffons and cerberids and pheons and pantherids work, but tldr, most of the fantasy 'creatures' are zombie-like (they're not decaying, but don't eat, feel pain, or die unless totally beheaded) constructs that don't think on their own: this world's version of robots, just built of flesh and magic. Pritchard can biohack them.
Griffons are designed so that pilots have complete control over their movements. Malik quite literally knows how to fly.
A perfect flight coach for her reluctantly-airborne friend.
Jaron's dragon form is creepy as shit (might draw it eventually bc I think it's cool, but even I wouldn't like it if I was standing in front of him) bc he's not designed to interact with civilians like Adam is. Not that civilians want anything to do with Adam either, though. Sarif didn't think shit through, and popular opinion on dragons, especially hypermutant fullbodies, has been descending into oblivion thanks to the work of the Tyrants. Deliberate scare tactics and uh, setting cities on fire.
