Title: Phantom Origins

Fandom: Jujutsu Kaisen

Summary: Junpei Yoshino is a pessimistic teen with an extreme fear of the outdoors. When he and his mother move into a new house, he reluctantly finds a friend in the eccentric ghost that’s haunting it – Yuji Itadori. Meanwhile, this ghost seems hellbent on unravelling the threads that make up Junpei.

When I Started: I came up with the idea and started brainstorming plot points 2 years ago

How I Lost My Shit: I think I got overwhelmed by my desire to make this fic better than my previous long fic (which went up on ao3 back in 2021) which ultimately slowed down my writing process quite a bit and I spent 2 years trying to edit just the first 2 chapters.

How I Finished My Shit: I resolved to finish this fic during the airing of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 and joining @wipbigbang gave me the extra push I needed to just sit down and write.

This was originally supposed to be a backstory to an existing SatoShoko fic I’d already written and posted, but quickly became its own thing. How I Lost My Shit: I was studying part-time while working full-time, and had to prioritise that. Then I caught Covid 🙃 How I Finished My Shit: Realised I wasn’t really into what I was studying and quit study, so that freed my time up by a huge chunk. I was off work for a bit to recover from Covid anyways, so I just whittled at this while in bed on my phone. When I was well enough to go back to work I just dedicated the time I usually used to study to chipping away at it and I managed to finish ahead of schedule. I’m pretty stoked about that :) I had a lot of fun writing this. Editing ehh not so much lmao.
