Prompt: Sole - FFXIV Write 2023 Characters: Strix, Talia Content Warning: None

“Mom, is there something wrong with me?”

Talia had been crossing through the Grove, her hands lifted to tighten her ponytail. She’d woken not long ago and was barely coherent. So she was surprised to find one of their children alone, and.. sulking? Strix was sulking against the base of a tree, pulling apart the sections of an orange.

Immediately she doubled back, pacing back a couple of steps. It was rare that her children were so uncertain about anything. “Why would you think there’s something wrong with you, Si?” She sank down onto the grass beside her eldest son, and reached to give a gentle pat to his leg.

“They keep turning me down.” He frowned. “I thought mortals were supposed to be hedonistic and free. But they keep finding reasons to say no.”

His mouth twisted at the corner, and he stared out at the trees. One of those segments of orange was tossed outward, and he watched one of the little fey creatures dart across the woods, snap it up, and vanish back into the branches.

“Inwa and Kuni both turned me down.” He had made such good offers too! And then there was the weird rabbit who hissed at him because he was up near Uncle Inwa. He knew the mortals would be so strange, but why were they weird like this? “I don’t understand.”

Talia did her best to school her features. Of course it would be Strix who ran into this first. “Well, Starlight, sometimes people say no for different reasons. You know it isn’t a reflection on you when someone else says no, right? Most people say no because of them. Not because of you.”

Strix sighed and hurled another of those orange segments out into the underbrush. As if the physical effort, small as it was, might provide some small vent for his uncertain frustrations.

“I guess so.” He still wondered if there was something wrong with him. Something that made him less appealing than his siblings, or just less appealing than other mortals. He sighed finally. “Mortals are weird. I’ll just have to try harder.”

Talia chuckled at this, and patted his leg once more before she pushed to stand again. “That’s my Starlight. Come on, come help me in the workshop for a bell or two, and you can tell me all about what you’ve tried and why they said no.” Though she had suspicions on both fronts.

But Strix still fell into step alongside his mother, head down as he finally shoved a piece of that orange in his face. She would have good perspective for him. Knew these particular mortals best. And Mom’s advice had always been pretty good so far.

the first round had gone well. too well, really. but a victory was a victory and arnon knew better than to look a gift horse in the ass or whatever the idiom was. he wasn’t going to complain if it got him through to the next round. he’d watched the other fights with interest from the sidelines, passionately cheering on just about everyone – it was only fair. everyone seemed to be putting their all into things and it was hard not to get swept up in the chaos of it all. soon enough, the time came for the second round of matches to begin and the halfling scampered back to check exactly who he’d be up against. he grinned to himself to see the name of another faerie. whilst he was yet to properly meet bradley, he’d heard enough about him to know that this was going to be interesting. other than the training sessions with his father, arnon was yet to go head-to-head with a full faerie and now certainly seemed as good a time as any to do so.

stretching his arms above his head with a soft groan as he felt his muscles shift and strain, arnon mentally prepared himself and sauntered out into the ring once again, clasping his hands behind his back as he came to a gradual halt, rolling back on his heels as he beamed at bradley, his eyes bright with anticipation. “hope you’re not thinking of holding back on me, harper. better put your all into this. i know i am.” it was only a matter of time before the bell would sound to announce the start of the fight and arnon could feel the rising anticipation permeate the stadium entirely. “if i lose, you owe me a drink or twelve in compensation, yeah?”

This talk of the Faebies has made me think of Calico more. She’s quick and silent, ever so at ease when she scales bookshelves and big rocks and tall trees, just watching from whatever shadowy perch she’s managed to cram herself into. She’s made her human parents worry a few too many times because they can’t find her no matter how hard they look. They are also very concerned about the pile of dead animal furs hidden under her bed and the silence of nighttime when the woods should be alive with creatures of the night. - ☀️

Fae-bies are strange little creatures. They're quite clever and good at being fae, not always good at being human. I think Ainsley is the only one of my group that really fits the changeling archetype, quiet and watchful, colicky as a baby but whip smart as they grow. It's having a fae parent around that makes a difference in my eyes. Someone teaching them to be fae instead of human makes the baby a little better adjusted to the two worlds.

I love Calico, she's so cute. Her poor human parents are certainly dealing with a confusing child, but there's support groups for that. Otherwise the human parents gotta start getting involved in hunting and hide&seek, connect with their kiddo. These are totally normal human child behaviors. Probably.

Schedule

I work a few different freelance jobs and so my schedule is constantly in flux. I usually stream weekday at 11:00 AM or 12:00 PM in the EST/EDT timezone. I'll attach my weekly schedule for the current week below:

Content I Stream/Create

I usually stream otome visual novels or joseimuke mobile games. Some of my favorites are Ensemble Stars!! Basic and Music, Bandori, Taisho x Alice, Tears of Themis, Hatoful Boyfriend, and BUSTAFELLOWS.

Sometimes I'll stream variety content such as JRPGs, scuffed karaoke (yes it is always scuffed lol), baking or decorating desserts (rare because this is messy and requires lots of planning!), crocheting, and cozy chatting content. I like to experiment with my content when I have more time in my schedule!

I'm currently working on a larger video project where I summarize the entirety of the Ensemble Stars story backlog and lore on YouTube. The series is still very much a work in progress but I do have a livestream VOD where I explained some basics about the game universe and characters which you can watch here:

I also really love music! I try to hold karaokes as much as I can and I've recently start recording covers songs! You can check out my first cover song below. It would mean a lot to me if you gave it a like as well!

Other than that I do a bit of voice acting, sometimes while I'm playing VNs I'll even try to voice over the characters. But mostly I just record short voice clips and post them to YouTube and TikTok.

Now that I have this page I hope to post some exclusive Tumblr content such as video scripts for my YouTube videos and reviews for games, animes, mangas, and novels! I'll link back to some of those posts when I do create them.

Are any members of the polycule married or considering getting married? Were their metamours at the wedding or would they be? Did they participate in the ceremony at all?

This is the 'Fae Trio'. The polycule consists of Talia, Idristan (@roses-and-grimoires) who is seated on the right and Caedh (@thedarknesssings) who is seated on the left. The three of them actually got collectively married in a very private little ceremony that consisted of just them.

The only other individual involved in the polycule is Idristan's other partner, Ghost. Talia and Caedh are friendly with Ghost, but not involved with him in any other fashion. He didn't participate in the ceremony, but he might have been there to support Idris had it been an option at the time.

He and Caedh have a very tense personal history, and so its very up in the air, but Ghost has become a very good uncle to the Trio's collection of faebies.
