So I've again been thinking about Frontiers and Tails going off on his own to make an impact of his own without Sonic to prove himself. Also I've been thinking about how Tails is a little badass and usually ends up being a big part in Sonic winning against every threat they face and how none of their rogue gallery seems to realize this. When it hit me, what if Tails going solo for a bit is what finally gets the attention of the villains on him more. This gonna be a long AUish kinda deal so putting it below the cut If you wanna keep reading.
Okay so hear me out here. Tails goes off on his own to prove to himself and the world he's capable and doesn't always need Sonic to save the day and that Tails is a hero in his own right. And the old villains (and maybe some new ones) take note that "oh okay this kid is actually more of a problem then we gave him credit for." Heck in one of the Eggman voice things in Frontiers Eggman even says he Tails is pretty formidable but he thinks Tails hero worship of Sonic is squashing some of that potential (and that, that's good for Eggman).
Tails solo time just ends up just painting a bit of a target on his back from villains. Cause now they see what Tails is capable on his own away from Sonic and that scares them a bit. Cause here comes an 8 year old (idk if that's his age any more in Frontiers I know that there was a thing going around saying that they did try to mature the characters a bit in that game but I still don't see Tails any older than like 10 at this point) but here comes a kid that can wreck their shit in ways they never prepared for cause most of their plans and defenses revolved around Sonic.
So during the next villain threat after Tails comes back from his solo time, they don't target Sonic they target Tails. And like good luck to whoever they're up against cause Tails is hard to take down and can take care of himself. But their main goal and plan is to take out Tails first then maybe Sonic cause now they see how much of a threat Tails is.
But the flip side of this is that this makes Sonic go into protective older brother overdrive. Cause yeah people they have gone up against in the past have targeted Tails (and with the exception of Starline) it's usually done to get to Sonic more so than really take out Tails. But this time the villain is pretty much ignoring Sonic and is gunning for his little brother.
And yeah Sonic knows Tails is capable and all and can handle himself but he's still worried cause again that's his little brother and someone is specifically trying to hurt Tails. (I also don't think he'd be too over protective like making Tails sit out the fight on like a lockdown but he def would try to keep Tails away from the villain, or at least not fighting them alone, and have some of their friends guard him a bit in the fight) And maybe Sonic is a bit more brutal than normal against this threat, he's still all quips and taunting but to anyone who knows him there is defiantly a bit more focus and intent is his attacks.
Extra bit: The villain(s) they're fighting do get a solid hit on Tails and pretty much take him out of the fight (it doesn't kill Tails but it def is gonna leave a scar) or do manage to nab Tails and run. If they kidnapped Tails (and not as a threat to Sonic but because they have plans for Tails and go into hiding with him) Sonic goes into full panic no sleeping no eating mode till they find Tails. And when Sonic gets a hold of them by that point just goes full terminator and just takes them down pretty brutally cause they hurt/took Tails.
Bonus Points if Sonic goes Dark Sonic mode on them.
Idk just an little AU for post Frontiers cause protective mode big brother Sonic gives me life and I really think the villains in this series really need to take Tails more seriously as a threat.

Muses! The godly threats
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Name: sonic.exe/zenophane/lord x
Age: 15?
Gender: male
Bio: the most infamous hedgehog was once the most beloved. Sonic was definition of a hero: brave, kind and selfless. However one day he was infected with a parasite, after a while of studying him,the parasite took over. He used Sonics form to fool his friends and kill them, turning them into his undead army. Even when he learned of thier resistance/rebellion,it amused him cause of the fact he deems himself the iconic phrase “I am god” the .exe guys have to avoid Zeno at costs cause if he gives them a command, they will follow his orders, they’re forced to due to demonic magic. There’s an use for every form he has. He uses sonic.exe to fool/trick people that come to come to his realm. Xenophane to tower and intimidate Sonics old friends along with boosted powers. Then there’s lord x,where the parasite takes Sonics form and makes it his own,he uses this powerful form to toy the members of the resistance that aren’t dead. Despite how many times he’s defeated or the resistance gets away,he still smiles cause I thinks of himself as a god,and he’ll forever hold the fact he killed the sonic within him over the undead fox’s head
Tumblr media
Name: fatal error
Age: unknown
Gender: male
Bio: a creation by Zeno, who exists in a pixel world he created. Fatal error likes to toy with victims who end up in his realm,he likes to torture them and then corrupt them and make them his minions, once they’re corrupted, they cannot leave the pixel world and are doomed to serve fatal error for all eternity. Fortunately no one has suffered this fate and when Sarah’s involved,it’s easy for people to escape. Good thing is,if your not in his world. Fatal error will leave you alone.
Tumblr media
Name: starved eggman

Bio: a version of eggman that feasted on mobians, the only reason he’s helping Zeno is that he promised him he would have all the meat in the world,he’s willing to eat the resistance except for eggman,he has a robot named furnace that will cook and chase down his prey and bring them to him so he can feast on them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Name: slash

Bio: as xeno faker remake, not much is known about him,all that is known about him is that he’s a crearion by Zeno and can travel through the regular and pixel worlds,so if you try to hide and he finds you, your screwed. He has four arms with claws that he uses to slice up his victims and his neck can stretch out with his bloody veiny neck.
Tumblr media
Name: retinal
Age: unknown
Gender: male
Bio: zenos own version of tails to combat the resistance leader. Retinal has the skills of not just tails when he was alive, but is as skilled as a ninja like espio, not to mention being stealthy, quiet and fast like sonic, his goal is to kill tails and send the resistance into a panicked frenzy.
Tumblr media
Name: satanic
Age: unknown
Gender: male
Bio: as zenos remake of hog, satanic not only has Sonics other abilities, but has demonic magic, being able to use demonic magic straight from hell or the underworld, and his body can stretch to zero limits,he’s like the devil if he possessed sonic, his goal is to kill the resistance and collect thier souls
Tumblr media
Name: werechidna
Age: unknown
Gender: male
Bio: as a remake of chotix by Zeno, werechidna is like chotix if he never reformed, violent and cocky,he shifts into his final form when his regular form is beaten up badly,he doesn’t like going into his final form cause it really hurts him and removes his ability to see, still, even in his blind final form,he is a dangerous threat, being able to make the hills collapse or crack with just his fists or his feet.

I don’t recall if better meta than me has pointed this out, but Sonic Adventure 2 superficially tells two stories, but is actually only telling one sequence of events. The cutscenes you’re shown imply that whichever character you’re controlling wins in the event of duels between the protagonists and antagonists, but they also carefully don’t contradict each other, so if you look closely you can tell who won each fight.
Sonic vs. Shadow on Prison Island is an implicit stalemate (they both get the same scene up to a point)
Shadow canonically fails to stop Sonic at Final Chase/Final Rush (Sonic damaging the eclipse cannon shows up indirectly in Dark Side Story- you see a flashing error message pops up on Eggman’s screen. this is also kind of intuitive since if Shadow actively caught up with Sonic at the time, there’s no reason he wouldn’t have killed Sonic- he’d just threatened to kill Rouge if she interfered in the eclipse cannon firing)
This makes sense for their character arc- they’re neck and neck at first, but decisively at the end, Sonic pulls ahead. It lines up with what later installments have implied or played to, that Sonic is the decisive faster of the two of them, though it’s very close- Sonic’s still The Fastest Thing Alive, as shown by, in a no-holds-barred struggle, Sonic was able to pull ahead of Shadow and throw Tails’ emerald bomb into the eclipse cannon.
Tails vs. Eggman on Prison Island ends in Eggman’s favor (Tails’ cutscene shows that Eggman is unharmed, but basically decides he’s not going to waste any more time with Tails, suggesting the only thing Tails succeeded at was inconveniencing him, which is in line with Eggman’s dialogue in dark side story), but the rematch on ARK ends dramatically in Tails’ favor!
Eggman’s cutscene for that one only shows that Eggman got away with the yellow chaos emerald- it doesn’t show anything that happened in that room after the fight. In Tails’ cutscene, we see that Tails utterly levels Eggman, leaving him ostensibly unconscious on the floor, and is distracted by realizing Sonic is alive. While he and Amy are preoccupied, looking outside at Sonic’s success, Eggman grabs the yellow emerald from the ground, and implicitly makes a quiet getaway- thus fulfilling what we see on dark side story.
The implications of this for Tails’ arc in this game is pretty straightforward. It was honestly fairly ambitious of the Adventure-era games to position Eggman as more of Tails’ rival than Sonic’s- Tails is in the process of graduating from Sonic’s sidekick to full-fledged hero on his own right, and matching him directly against Eggman is a fascinating meterstick, because Tails, as an inventor, is arguably playing in the same field as Eggman, though much younger and less experienced. Eggman initially blowing Tails off as nothing but an inconvenience he doesn’t have time to play with, only to suffer a very nasty setback for underestimating Tails and focusing only on negating Sonic, makes for a really good arc- even if both times he’s able to scrape away with his objective, the second time basically has Tails send him packing brutally- Eggman has to sneak around to succeed at his objective. And this, of course, comes together nicely in True Story, when Eggman coordinates everybody through the ARK except for his own segment, where he takes orders... only from Tails. And even in the ending cutscene, we get a sense Eggman is actually opening up to Tails a bit- that ‘honorable adversary’ spiel that was initially only reserved for Sonic applies to Tails, too now.
Rouge and Knuckles are the outlier in two senses: they have only one fight (the Mad Space / Meteor Herd brawl) and it ends in a stalemate. To me, I feel like this actually has some pretty juicy implications on its own- it marks them as equals in physical power (Rouge was designed to be Knuckles’ rival, just like Shadow for Sonic! She matches Knuckles at one of his key traits!) and while, yes, it’s used as a staging ground for a shippy little moment, I think it makes that moment work pretty well as a point of mutual fascination.
At the point Rouge falls off the support beam, they’re both exhausted. They’ve fought themselves to a standstill. And while Knuckles does get points in for saving her, he doesn’t demand the emerald pieces back before he lets her up. It’s just a moment of respect- that proves mutual, not just in Rouge returning the Master Emerald, but that the gang’s entire plan in Last Story hinges on Rouge remembering something Knuckles said to her at the very beginning of the game regarding its powers.
It means a lot in the sense that Rouge and Knuckles are characterized as matching each other not just in strength but stubborn pride. They’re both powerhouses that almost never find a true opponent- and matching forces with each other is genuinely exciting. Yes, Rouge is depicted as ‘the sexy one’- but I feel like the temptation she forms to Knuckles is less the temptation of ‘look at that nice body’ and a lot more of the temptation of, being able to really go all-out against someone who can hit just as hard, and take just as much punishment- or traveling with someone who can keep up with you perfectly.
A lot of Knuckles’ characterization is that he’s frankly lonely. He’s the last of his kind as far as he knows; he’s the Guardian and he takes it seriously and that means that his strength all has a job to do, he can’t let himself get too cocky or too curious to see if the traps he sets or the punches he throws hold up, or go looking for opportunities to compete. Sure, you can say Rouge is a love interest to Knuckles, but she’s also- and I think more importantly- a rival to him. She’s a challenge. And while we don’t necessarily get a deep backstory from her the same way his was fleshed out, the implication seems to be she’s definitely a thrillseeker who looks for a challenge- she stakes her pride heavily on the Prison Island operation and when it seems to fail and leave her stranded, she’s fully willing to accept her fate on the basis that her skills weren’t enough. That takes a lot of guts and a lot of intensity.
That Knuckles and Rouge’s big rival showdown ends on a perfect stalemate speaks a lot about the frame of mind they’re left in afterwards, once stubbornness and pride are a bit out of the way... both of them are genuinely interested in having another bout like that, some time when they’re not in mortal peril. The next time we hear Rouge talk about stealing the Master Emerald, she announces the plans to do it to Knuckles’ face in Heroes. That’s absolutely bait for them to compete.

How was Infinite better than Mephiles in your opinion? I think Infinite had a bit of potential but Pontiff ruined what little there was.
Is Forces a Pontaff game? It doesn’t look like one, and I think they just translated/collaborated? No seriously, I remember reading the credits and being confused. Anyway.
Let’s get out of the way the most shallow reason I prefer Infinite: design. Infinite’s design is damn cool, he’s so edgy that it’s obvious he’s meant to be a caricature, with his clawed gloves and boots with his own friggin’ symbol on it, but he’s still appealing to the eyes. Before you finish the game, the mask also adds intrigue: why is he wearing it, and why is he blind in one eye? It motivates you to get to know more about him. It also helps that he’s a canid, a family that is quite rare in the series - I can only think of Tails and Chip - and it makes him unique but not in a special OC way. (this also means he even has some cute features like big ears and a fluffy tail, which add delicious contrast to his “I'm the toughest of terrors I am the darkest of days” design)
Tumblr media
On the contrary, Mephiles has two designs: Multiplayer-Mode Shadow...
Tumblr media
And Nightmare Shadow.
Tumblr media
And sure, the crystallized form is pretty cool to look at, but he still Shadow. I get that he was reborn from Shadow’s shadow (some writer felt very clever that day), but I kinda would have preferred to see him take other forms. Well, it’s not like the devs had the time to add a third model...
(also, both of them have awesome voices so I can’t put one above the other)
As for the rest, here’s a rundown:
- Mephiles, along with Iblis to a lesser extent, overshadows Eggman. He’s yet another villain that takes the stage and reduces the good ol’ doc to a miniboss, more preoccupied with stealing the McGuffin... I mean, Princess Elise, than to do some interesting villaining - this has the ripple effect of making Sonic the Hedgehog, in a game called Sonic the Hedgehog, nearly useless to the main plot until he’s killed. I have little tolerance for villains who want to be more “dangerous” than Eggman at this point, and Mephiles was only one of the last ones that played this overused trope seriously (wish he was the last one, but Dark Gaia is a smear on an otherwise beautiful game... but that’s another story). By contrast, Infinite is always Eggman’s weapon, and the game never implies you’re supposed to think less of the scientist - Infinite may be an arrogant buffoon, but he never leaves Eggman’s side. The two work on a tandem, and basically Infinite is terrifying raw strength combined with Eggman’s superior intellect. Took him long enough, but Eggman has essentially tamed a powerful beast like he’s been planning to do since Chaos.
- Mephiles is meant to be this master manipulator, a 4D chessmaster moving pieces across time and space to get to his goal. I love the idea, really: he’s the raw intellect of a god without any of the strength of a god, so he has to play dirty and play on mortals’ emotions. The problem is that the game isn’t competent enough to pull such a feat, so everyone basically has the IQ of a brick - everyone who has even watched some videos points out at least two things:
1) how can Silver, even if he grew up in a destroyed city, trust some random guy without a mouth and reptilian eyes who suddenly tells him “here’s the cause of your problems, now go back in time and kill him” and Silver is just like “okie dokie” without even asking “excuse me, and whomst the fuck are you”
2) Mephiles can travel in time anywhere he wishes AND he can apparently conjure the Emeralds at his side. There is literally nothing stopping him to go to Silver’s future and rejoin Iblis there, or even prevent the incident that split them. The game set no limitations to his powers, and so we’re free to think about the most obvious solutions, and so his overly complicated plan that hinges on a boy killing another boy 200 years in the past after he bonded with the Iblis seal to make her cry in grief, plus triggering Shadow’s trauma on the side... even more hard to follow, because it’s all useless.
Infinite, to be fair, has a similar problem with his powers: the Phantom Ruby’s potential has never been specificed, but it seems to be a strong reality warper that can even teleport people (Mania) - and yet we only see Infinite conjure clones and spikes with it, which is boring. However, one thing he has over Mephiles is that the guy’s blatantly an idiot. Like, the story doesn’t shy away from showing how his arrogant, sadistic mistakes like “lol i’ll leave you alive because you’re not worth my time” have serious repercussions to Eggman’s plans, to the point that the guy at the end is like “you know what, I’m sick of your shit” and kills him. And you may be like “how does that make him better than Mephiles” - well he’s more believable, and more human (relatively speaking), and Forces’ story was written with feet but no one got their IQ divided by itself so there’s that.
I get the feeling Infinite is meant to be both intimidating and a parody of overly edgy and cool villains like Mephiles himself, and for me it works. Mephiles... he’s kinda like ShTH: he takes himself way too seriously. Except ShTH is funny, at least.
To be kind to Mephiles, his backstory is at least more precise, and definitely more interesting: as I mentioned, I love the idea of a god that was split into powerless intellect and mindless strength. In a better game, Mephiles would have been an interesting villain, completely ineffectual in a physical battle and maybe in constant pain, but omniscent and with a streak of sadism.
Infinite, on the other hand, clearly went through a shift in backstory: the main game hints at the fact that he was made in a lab, but then Episode Shadow comes in and he’s just some guy who was bullied too hard. I... okay.
Anyway, Infinite is more appealing to me and he doesn’t break Forces’ already fragile plot like Mephiles does. also he cute. there :V

Sonic Movie Sequel Hopes/Theories
Just some simple random stuff but you guys confirmed you’d like to hear my thoughts so here we go :) Also there’s definitely gonna be sonic movie spoilers in here, consider yourself warned.
So Tails showed up at the end of the Sonic movie in that awesome post-credits scene (side note, can I just say how freaking happy I am that our sweet boy is already being shown as NOT being a coward but being super brave and venturing across worlds to go find a hedgehog he’s never met?? It looks like they’re gonna do our boy good and I’m so glad!!! :D). So, why is he looking for Sonic?
My first thought isn’t that original since I’ve seen at least one other person mention the idea, but I think Longclaw sent Tails on his quest to go find Sonic. Perhaps the echidnas have largely wiped themselves out and so they are no longer a threat. Or maybe Longclaw has finally gotten her hands on some more rings and can’t stand it anymore and wants to know if he’s alright. Either way, I’m really really hoping for a super darling heartfelt reunion.
What I think will be interesting to see is how Sonic reacts to meeting someone from his home planet-- remember, Longclaw was the only person he knew back there that wasn’t trying to actively kill/capture him/steal his power. Will he be overjoyed to see a familiar kind of face, or will he consider Tails a threat and attack him, thinking he’s come to hunt him down like the echidnas were doing? This second option is my personal theory. I honestly really want a cool fight between Tails and Sonic, and that’s probably where Sonic finds out Tails can fly. I can imagine a scene at the end of the fight where Sonic is about beat Tails, and finally the fox gets a word in edgewise and cries out “Wait! Longclaw sent me!”
“Wh-...what?” Sonic of course would be in complete shock because if this is the way things go down, I don’t think the possibility of Longclaw sending someone for him (remember, “never stop running!”) would even cross his mind. Can you imagine the angst that would follow? If this happens, Sonic will then have to decide between 2 things.
returning to his homeworld (probably with the [initial] condition that he never leave it again) and be with Longclaw, his soon-to-be-best-friend Tails, and his own kind.
Stay on Earth with Tom and Maddie, who are now basically his parents (not that they replace Longclaw, just fill a different guardian role-- or maybe Sonic is worried they have replaced Longclaw in his mind and that creates more angst), or else lose any chance (supposedly) of ever seeing them again.
I am already sad for this boy.
There will certainly be angst-- perhaps Tom and Maddie, hearts breaking inside, try to convince Sonic to go because they think it’s what he wants, what would be best for him, etc, and being the loving parents they are, they are more than willing to sacrifice their own happiness for that of their adopted blue son.
I personally think that in the end, some sort of fantastic compromise will be figured out where Sonic can visit both worlds at will, being able to have his whole family be a part of his life. (and Tom and Maddie can adopt Tails too! :D)
Alongside this plot, there’s Doctor Robotnik/Eggman we gotta deal with. The sequel could have him return to the human world, but in my personal opinion, I think that might feel too much like a rehash of the first movie’s plot. Instead, I think he is going to somehow find a way to Sonic’s homeworld. Maybe he uses Sonic’s quill in some sort of crazy mad-scientist way and manages to make a portal. Or maybe (since we don’t know how long after the events of the Sonic movie the scene with Tails takes place), while Tails is trying to scan different worlds, he sneaks through/steals one of Tails’ rings. However, I think the first option is more plausible. If Eggman gets to Sonic’s homeworld, it will be there that Sonic meets him again. And when there, perhaps Eggman sees all the rich natural resources and in his crazed mind decides that its time for a new world to conquer with his genius! Except this time he’s especially unhinged, so he goes for literal world domination.
Another thought: this could happen either before or after Sonic returns to the island, though I kind of think it might happen before when Eggman is thinking how he’s gonna go about conquering the place. In his lunatic state, he is even more obsessed with the idea of Sonic. So perhaps it is then that he decides to make a robot modeled after him, powered by the quill, and use it to terrorize the locals along with his other creations. Enter an epically-designed Metal Sonic!! :D
Oh gosh ok this wasn’t originally part of my thoughts, but what if Eggman captures/attacks Longclaw with Metal Sonic, and Sonic and Tails get to rescue her? That would be awesome!
Wow that was a lot longer than I thought it was gonna be, but what do you guys think? Feel free to add your own thoughts! Hope you enjoyed reading these. :)

a bunch of sonic the hedgehog headcanons
I love Sonic games but they had always been shallow-ish for me, especially when canon line became a huge mess. Didn’t read comics. Dislike Shadow The Hedgehog game. Never read any Sonic hc’s before. Most of the hc’s below are Sonic-centric and Sonic Adventure based.
1. Sonic is the fastest creature in the Universe, so he uses a car/hoverboard/whatever because he doesn’t want ruin everyone’s fun by just walking. I repeat myself here but I wanna keep everything in one place
2. I never was into SonAmy, however, I think Sonic avoiding Amy is not all about She Creeps Me Out but She Creeps Me Out So If We Ever Gonna Date She’s Gonna Be In A Big Trouble.
3. Sonic is very careful and gentle behind his general Easy Going Hero Attitude, even if he doesn‘t want everyone to know it.
4. Sonic isn’t very smart but he understand everyone around him good enough to leave them keeping such arduous tasks like defusing The Very Big Nuke.
5. Sonic can befriend anyone, anything, even Eggman.
6. Eggman REJECTS friendship as a concept because he is failing to understand it constantly. Because of it, he always seeks power and makes robots, -- it is just a waaay simpler path to live a life, than try any social activity which isn’t about killing anybody, or zombify, or got the idea. This is why Eggman and Sonic so antagonistic to each other, and usually ended up defeating some Ancient Gods Of Mass Destruction, and stopping Secret Space Colonies from falling together. Eggman needs Sonic, or he will turn a world apart having no one, who could revers his deeds, no matter how bad and immoral they were. i hope a fanfic about it exists somewhere or i swear to god
7. Jet the Hawk likes challenge, so it’s obvious why he disrespects Sonic at first. He is an embodiment of speed, a streaming blue haze at a side of an eye, he deserves some mockery! Then Sonic prove himself to be The Fastest One without being Sonic the Hedgehog, and Jet thought: oh well, i’m outta here it’s basically a sonic riders canon i just like the dynamics
8. Shadow is more aware of a Friendship Concept than Eggman but, Sonic just tires him, and Sonic, in Shadow’s perspective, is kind of a want-to-know-all-about person. Rouge is quite the same, except she isn’t asking him anything. She just knows… like Maria? Who knows.
9. e 123 omega loves tiny animals
10. Tails potentially might be the only character, besides Shadow, who can deal with The Big Sad Experience and remain seemingly unharmed.

Sonic Rush Series + Sonic ‘06
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Spoilers for Sonic ‘06 Below (the ones for the Sonic Rush games are basically plot summaries and don’t really go too heavy into details.)
Sonic Rush
Eggman finds out about a parallel dimension that has Sol Emeralds, and teams up with someone who is presumably his parallel dimension self, Eggman Nega, to collect the Chaos Emeralds and Sol Emeralds in order to bring them together to wreak havoc on time and space.
Sonic and Tails want to stop Eggman, not quite knowing his full scheme, but on the way, they encounter Blaze the Cat, guardian of the Sol Emeralds, who wants to stop Eggman Nega. Over the course of the story she befriends Cream and learns how to have friends and rely on others. Because of Eggman Nega, the Sol Emeralds, and Blaze travelling to Sonic’s dimension, it begins to collapse.  Sonic, Blaze, and their friends eventually save the world(s) and Blaze returns to her own dimension with the Sol Emeralds (and Eggman Nega.)
Sonic Rush Adventure
After a storm, Sonic and Tails end up in Blaze’s dimension. Eggman and his counterpart are trying to reenact the same plan from last game, this time by stealing the Jeweled Scepter, one of Blaze’s family heirlooms.
Sonic ‘06
The Kingdom of Soleana is having a festival, but Dr. Eggman arrives and kidnaps the princess. Sonic saves her and then she gets kidnapped again. They’re confronted by a hedgehog named Silver who claims he’s from the future and that Sonic is something called the Iblis Trigger who will doom the timeline. Amy covers for Sonic, and he escapes, but not before the princess gets kidnapped a third time. The rest of his third of the plot involves the repeated kidnapping and rescue of Princess Elise. Sonic teaches her how to relax, and he also learns that for some reason, she’s been told to never cry.
Shadow and Rouge are assigned a mission to pick up an artifact, but after they retrieve it, it breaks, unleashing a shadowy figure named Mephiles. Mephiles seems to have a grudge with Shadow, but Shadow doesn’t know why until somewhere along his journey, he meets and fights Silver. He uses Chaos Control on Silver once, but Silver picks up on it and tries to use it himself. They end up performing Chaos Control simultaneously and opening some sort of time portal that sends them back to the point of Mephiles’ creation. The king of Soleana was experimenting to create (summon?) a god, Solaris, to control time and bring his wife back. The experiment went wrong, leaving the king to die and creating two entities: Mephiles and Iblis. The king gives Shadow the same artifact from the beginning to seal Mephiles, and Mephiles remarks that he’ll remember Shadow. Shadow goes back to the future and fights Mephiles one last time before he teleports away.
Silver lives in the future. Everything is desolate and constantly on fire because of a being named Iblis. Also Blaze is there. Neither she nor anyone else seem to remember or acknowledge anything that happened in the Rush series, but she’s there. She’s also Silver’s best friend. They’re contacted by a guy named Mephiles who tells them to go back in time and kill Sonic, who caused this bad future. They accept. Silver meets Amy, who is looking for Sonic, but Silver doesn’t know Sonic is the name of the guy he’s supposed to kill. They become friends for a short time before they eventually catch up to Sonic. Silver tries to kill him and Amy stops that. Silver then begins to ponder whether or not killing someone to save the world is morally correct. Blaze tells him yes. They then continue trying to find Sonic. The next time he finds Sonic, Shadow covers for him, and this is when Silver and Shadow go back in time, but in Silver’s version of events, the dying king seals Iblis’s soul inside of his daughter Elise and tells her that she can’t cry or else Iblis will be released. The king gives a sleeping Elise to Silver to put in a safe place, and he does that before returning to the present. Because of this, Silver gets the idea that he can seal Iblis within himself and not have to kill Sonic. He helps Sonic in one of his attempts to rescue Elise, and then he and Blaze go back to the future to try out Silver’s plan. Silver tries to seal the flames within himself, but it doesn’t work, so Blaze tries it instead because she’s associated with fire. She tries to get Silver to send her away to another dimension (somehow?) but Silver doesn’t do it because he’s distraught over losing his best friend. Blaze dissipates and the future is saved(?)
After Shadow’s final battle with Mephiles, Mephiles teleports over to where Sonic and Elise are and distracts them with a light. While they’re distracted, Mephiles fires a laser beam into Sonic’s back, killing him instantly. Elise cries, releasing Iblis. Mephiles reveals his plan, which was to release Iblis so that the two of them can combine to form Solaris. When they do combine, time and space get messed up, but all the main characters get teleported into the same place (excluding Blaze.) Everyone mourns Sonic, but Elise says she can still feel his presence in the wind(???) The others decide to gather the Chaos Emeralds from time and space (somehow) to (somehow) revive Sonic. They bring the emeralds back to Elise, who surrounds Sonic with the them and kisses him (???) bringing him back to life and turning him into Super Sonic. He also passes on his power to Shadow and Silver, and the three of them fight Solaris from the past, present, and future (listen, I don’t know how this works.)
After defeating Solaris, Sonic and Elise are sent back to a time before the king conducted his experiments on Solaris. Solaris in this state is a flame, and Sonic encourages Elise to blow it out. She doesn’t want to, because if she undos the events afterward, she might not meet Sonic, but eventually, she blows out the flame and the events of this game never happened! (except maybe Blaze getting transported to another universe?)

Sonic the Hedgehog: Timeline
You’ve ever wondered about the chronology of a mascot platforming series with many self-contained entries? No? Well I did, and I combed through the lore as much as possible in order to find any definitive points to order things around in, and now I feel that I have the definitive timeline for you all.
(Notes and their sources appear at the end of the document – all notes listed before all sources)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Timeline 1
Circa 1998000 BCE (likely earlier) [note 1] Light Gaia, Dark Gaia, and the planet itself came into being. The two incarnations of light and darkness (respectively) would periodically clash every few tens of thousands of years, with Dark Gaia destroying the planet and Light Gaia repairing it.
Circa 18000 BCE (likely earlier) -Light Gaia and Dark Gaia have their most recent clash over the fate of the planet. Result of this conflict is unknown. -As part of the aftermath of the battle, the denizens of the time created the Gaia Manuscripts -Earliest known appearance of the Chaos Emeralds
Unknown time period (likely after the above events) -Ancient Babylonians crash-landed onto the planet -Ended up integrating their technology with the local planet's resources
Circa 2000 BCE [note 2] -The Gizoid was created by the Fourth Great Civilisation, but ended up destroying it.
Circa 1000 BCE (possibly earlier) [note 2-1] -The Knuckles Clan was wiped out by Chaos. -Tikal stopped Chaos from wiping out the planet by sealing herself and Chaos within the Master Emerald. -Earliest known appearance of the Master Emerald.
Circa 1 BCE (possibly earlier) -Black Doom's earliest known interaction on Earth, where he hid a Black Arms fleet within a desert.
959 CE -Master Zik was born [note 3-1].
1847 -Zavok was born [note 3-1].
1862 -Zomom was born [note 3-1].
1868 -Zazz was born [note 3-1].
1875 -Zeena was born [note 3-1].
1883 Zor was born [note 3-1].
Circa 1950 CE (possibly earlier) -Professor Gerald Robotnik was hired by the United Federations military G.U.N. to create the Ultimate Life Form on-board the Space Colony: ARK. -Gerald agreed in order to develop a cure for his ill granddaughter, Maria. -On the side, Gerald stumbled across the Gizoid and another dimension where a terrible monster was in. To buy time, Gerald ended up handing the Gizoid to the military, only for it to destroy part of the ARK. -Gerald was only able to complete the Ultimate Life Form thanks to a deal with Black Doom, who happened to be passing by about then. Gerald came to regret this deal, and prepared a method to wipe the Black Arms out upon their return. -GUN became weary of the military project, and stormed the ARK in order to violently shut down the project. Gerald was the only survivor of the shutdown (including his granddaughter), and was forced to finish his research. Gerald slowly went insane, and implanted some additional coding into some of his creations, in order to get revenge on the Earth one day. He was implied to have been executed by firing squad.
1975 [note 3-2] [note 4] -Vector the Crocodile is born.
1976 CE -Bark the Polar Bear is born [note 3-3]. -Storm the Albatross is born [note 3].
1977 CE -Mighty the Armadillo is born [note 3-2]. -Big the Cat is born [note 3]. -Rouge the Bat is born [note 3]. -Wave the Swallow is born [note 3].
Circa 1978 CE (likely earlier) Dynamite Düx [note 5] -This entry is listed here because at this point Bin wasn't mentioned as having any kind of son, making it likely that he had his one adventure prior to this incident.
1978 CE -Bean the Dynamite is born, his father is Bin from Dynamite Düx [note 3-3] [note 5]. -Princess Elise the Third is born [note 3].
1979 CE -Knuckles the Echidna was born [note 3]. -Espio the Chameleon was born [note 3-2] [note 4].
1980 CE -Sonic the Hedgehog was born on Christmas Island [note 3-4].
1981 CE -Blaze the Cat was born in an alternate dimension [note 3]. -Jet the Hawk was born [note 3].
1983 CE -Amy Rose was born [note 3].
1985 CE -The Duke of Solleanna was researching the flame of hope in order to discover a method of time travel. -An experiment ended up failing violently, as the flame ended up splitting into two beings, Ible and Mephiles. -Before his death, the Duke ended up sealing Iblis within his daughter, Princess Elise the Third. -The fate of Mephiles the Dark is unknown.
1987 CE Miles “Tails” Prower is born [note 3].
1988 CE (another universe) Marine the Raccoon is born [note 3].
1989 CE  [note 4] Charmy Bee is born [note 3-2]. Cream the Rabbit is born [note 3].

Sonic R [note 6]
Before Sonic the Hedgehog CD  [note 6] -On the last month of the year, Little Planet appears as usual. -Dr. Robotnik finds Little Planet and the immense time travel capabilities that it stores.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Timeline 1+ [note 9]
Before Sonic CD -This divergent timeline's beginning point is unknown, or even if it diverged at all yet. If it is a new timeline, the events leading up to Sonic CD are unaltered, except for the following: -Dr. Robotnik places robot generators all over Little Planet's past, alongside holograms of Metal Sonic terrorising the local animals, and then puts Little Planet in a metal shell, chained up to a mountain near Never Lake.
1993 CE [note 9] Sonic the Hedgehog CD -It is canon that Sonic had gotten the Bad Ending. -This is the last time Metal Sonic can appear until Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode Metal, and is also the character's debut.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Timeline 8+ [note 9]
1993 CE Sonic the Hedgehog CD. -Dr. Robotnik utilises the Time Stones to undo Sonic's victory on Little Planet, leaving it chained up and captured. -It is said that Little Planet appears on the last month of every year, meaning that after it disappears, a new year begins.
1994 CE Tails' Skypatrol
Sonic Labyrinth [note 6]
Sonic 3D Blast: Flickes' Island. [note 6]
Sonic Blast [note 6]
Sonic Pocket Adventure -Dr. Robotnik starts swapping between his classic outfit and his modern outfit, and Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles gain their modern eye colours while keeping their classic proportions, firmly establishing this entry as the in-between point between Classic and Modern.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1
Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode Metal -Metal Sonic's revival after being abandoned on Little Planet
Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 -Little Planet makes its appearance over Never Lake, which happens on the last month of the year.
1995 CE
Sonic Pinball Party (potential placement) [note 10]
Sonic Adventure -First time Dr. Robotnik gets referred to by the name of 'Eggman'. -Big the Cat, Chaos, and E-102 Gamma are introduced, and while not introduced Cream the Rabbit can be seen flying in the city in the remakes.
Sonic Shuffle
Sonic Adventure 2 -Shadow the Hedgehog and Rouge the Bat are introduced. The former is believed dead after the events of this entry.
Sonic Advance
Sonic Advance 2 -Introduction of Cream the Rabbit.
Sonic Pinball Party (potential placement) [note 10]
Sonic Heroes [note 11] -Introduction of E-123 Omega, and the re-introduction of Vector, Espio, and Charmy.
Shadow the Hedgehog [note 11]
Sonic Battle [note 2] [note 11]
Sonic Advance 3
Sonic the Hedgehog (Xbox 360/Playstation 3) [note 12] -Introduction of Princess Elise the 3rd. -After Sonic rescues Elise from Eggman, he threatens all of Soleanna in order for the princess to turn herself over. Eggman's ship crashes before Sonic can reach them, killing Elise and unleashing Iblis across the world. -Mephiles the Dark finds a Chaos Emerald, and likely manages to copy Shadow's shadow and send him (and Rouge) into the future.
Circa 2181 CE (likely later) -Silver the Hedgehog is born.
Circa 2195 CE (likely later) -Blaze the Cat is present through unknown means. -Shadow and Rouge wander the ruined city, uncovering an abandoned Omega. -Mephiles the Dark meets up with Silver and Blaze, offering them a chance to save the future by travelling back in time to assassinate the “Iblis Trigger”, who he claims is Sonic. Silver and Blaze agree, and are sent back in time.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Timeline 9+
1995 CE Sonic the Hedgehog (Xbox 360/Playstation 3) -Silver, Blaze, and Mephiles are all separated during the time travel, leaving each of them alone. Silver meets up with Amy Rose and attempts to assassinate Sonic. While unsuccessful, this does lead to Eggman kidnapping Elise early, forcing Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles to travel to Eggman's base, where they get sent to a random time period. -After Amy abandons him, Silver meets back up with Blaze, and the two investigate Eggman's base, finding a Chaos Emerald his drone had brought. -Elise dies.
Circa 2195 CE (likely later) -In the future, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, and Rouge team up in order to find two Chaos Emeralds to go back in time with. After fighting Iblis, they find two and go back in time using them, however Shadow stays behind upon seeing Mephiles' presence.
Timeline 10+
1995 CE Sonic the Hedgehog (Xbox 360/Playstation 3) -Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Rouge all end up back in the present day. Sonic immediately goes to rescue Elise, only to be stopped by Silver, and presumably killed. -Rouge, meanwhile, seeks out Omega, and gives her Chaos Emerald to it, giving it precise orders to wait for Shadow and deliver it. -Elise dies.
Circa 2195 CE (likely later) -Shadow fights Mephiles, and is losing just before Omega shows up, who manages to save Shadow. Mephiles retreats through time travel, and both Shadow and Omega follow through the time portal.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Timeline 11+
1995 CE Sonic the Hedgehog (Xbox 360/Playstation 3) -Shadow, upon returning, seeks out Eggman for answers. Right after that, he happens to spot Silver attacking Sonic, and jumps in to save Sonic's life, although Elise does get captured again. After a fight between the two, they accidentally trigger a time travelling portal with their Chaos Emeralds, and they break the fight to decide to go back in time to seek answers (thanks to Shadow's intel from Eggman, somehow?).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Timeline 12+
1985 CE -Shadow and Silver travel back, with Silver learning that the Iblis Trigger is in fact Elise, and that her dying would do the opposite of sealing it, while Shadow goes and seals Mephiles, setting up one half of a time loop. The two then head back to the present, with Silver leaving behind a Chaos Emerald for Elise.
1995 CE Sonic the Hedgehog (Xbox 360/Playstation 3) -It is unknown exactly how the extra Chaos Emerald effected the events leading up to this date. -The non-time travelling Sonic is given Elise's Chaos Emerald, and even uses it to barter Elise back just before being sent to the future (and returning). -The non-time travelling Shadow accidentally releases Mephiles, and Mephiles sends him and Rouge to the future in retaliation. -The time travelling Shadow and Silver return, with Shadow helping Omega out with Mephiles, before the three of them attempt to seal Mephiles again, while Sonic, Silver, and Blaze give chase after Eggman's ship to save Elise one last time. The ship crashes, and Elise dies, but Silver and Sonic induce one last time portal in order to Sonic to go back in time to save her.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Timeline 13+
Unknown -Solaris of the past starts consuming time here, but as present and future Solaris still exist, the future still exists to be consumed.
1995 CE Sonic the Hedgehog (Xbox 360/Playstation 3) -Sonic manages to save Elise for good this time, before being killed by Mephiles. The grief Elise feels at this causes Iblis to be unleashed, and Mephiles fuses with Iblis to turn into Solaris, who exists at three separate points in time simultaneously. Present-version Solaris starts consuming time from this point, but as future Solaris still exists, the future still exists to be consumed.
Circa 2195 (likely later) -Silver and Blaze seal Iblis within Blaze, before sending her to another universe. -Solaris of the future starts consuming time here.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Timeline 14+
ERROR! TIME PERIOD NOT FOUND! Sonic the Hedgehog (Xbox 360/Playstation 3) -Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Rouge, Omega, Silver, Amy, Elise, Eggman, and a deceased Sonic all happen to survive in a pocket of space-time. This bubble is temporary, but the 9 of them hatch a plan to snatch the 7 Chaos Emeralds, revive Sonic, and turn him, Shadow, and Silver super in order to stop Solaris.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Timeline 15+ 1985 -Sonic and Elise arrive from the future, and wipe out the flame of hope prematurely.
1995 Sonic the Hedgehog (Xbox 360/Playstation 3) -Eggman does not attack the ceremony, and a non-time travelling Sonic and Elise have vague, unexplained knowledge of each other...

Note 1: The dating system uses a cameo appearance in Sonic Generations as a point of reference, and is otherwise completely arbitrary. Note 2: Sonic Chronicles: the Dark Brotherhood is non-canon, and thus all information provided by that entry will be promptly ignored. Note 2-1: The timeframe given for the Knuckles Clan was NOT used in Sonic Chronicles, but was instead in the Japanese manual for Sonic Adventure. Note 3: All character ages have been listed in relation to their Modern era debut, unless they lack such an appearance. In such case, their debut is used as a reference point instead. All ages are listed on their Sonic Channel profiles with the following exceptions: Note 3-1: The Deadly Six's ages come from promotional material for Sonic Lost World which provided various tidbits of information on them. Note 3-2: The Chaotix (and Mighty) were provided ages in Knuckles Chaotix, however all of them (with the exception of Mighty) were retconned when they were given a modern appearance in Sonic Heroes, and thus use their now-current ages instead. Note 3-3: Their ages were listed in the Japanese version of Fighters Megamix Official Guide. Note 3-4: Sonic's age is listed on his Sonic Channel profile, however his origin of Christmas Island actually originated in the Sonic the Hedgehog Technical Files (also known as the Original Story), and has been backed up as canon by SEGA. Note 4: The Chaotix have been described as being re-imagined in Sonic Heroes, although there is currently no elaboration on if this was referring to a full reboot, or merely their appearance and personality. If it is a full reboot, their classic appearances are non-canon. Note 5: In the Japanese version of Fighters Megamix Official Guide, it is listed that Bin from Dynamite Düx is Bean's father, therefore also confirming Dynamite Düx into the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. Note 6: There were different canons present during the creation and release of Sonic the Hedgehog titles between 1991 and 1997, and from 1998 onwards the Japanese canon was used, with only minor details carrying over. Whenever possible, the Japanese version of Sonic the Hedgehog entries released during this time period will be used as reference. Although if non-conflicting information is present in western manuals, that information will be considered as a possible minor detail that carried over. Note 7: In the Japanese manual, Sonic met Tails shortly before the events of this game, and the Japanese manual for Sonic 3 (which includes Tails) mentions that Sonic had used Super Sonic in his last adventure, meaning that Sonic 2, Sonic 3, and Sonic & Knuckles must happen side-by-side, and that any other game featuring Tails or Knuckles must take place after this game (with exceptions). Note 8: It is unknown whether the combined version of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckles (known as Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles) is the canonical version or not, or if the true canon is a mixture of both. Note 9: Due to the nature of the time travel being in gameplay, it is unknown exactly how many times Sonic the Hedgehog had actually travelled through time, although it is a minimum of 6 times. In addition, it is unknown if Dr. Robotnik travelled backwards in time to place the robot generators to begin with, nor is it known if Sonic and Amy travelled back in time after the end of Sonic CD. All that is known for certain is that Stardust Speedway was failed to be saved, and by extension all of Little Planet. Note 10: Sonic Pinball's exact placement cannot be pinned down without some adjustments due to details present within the entry being inconsistent from a chronological perspective. Possibility 1 is to treat Shadow's name in the tournament as being non-canonical, or referring to another person with the same first name. Possibility 2 is to assume that Station Square (or specifically Casinopolis) has been repaired after the events of Sonic Adventure. Note 11: Despite being released before Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog is depicted without amnesia in Sonic Battle, therefore placing it after Shadow the Hedgehog. Note 12: Due to Silver and Blaze meeting for the first time both in Sonic the Hedgehog (Xbox 360/Playstation 3) and in Sonic Rivals and Sonic Rush respectively, Sonic the Hedgehog (Xbox 360/Playstation 3) must happen first, as the details of that event end up wiping those meetings from time. Note 13: in Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure, Eggman Nega is an alternate universe counterpart, working alongside Eggman. In Sonic Rivals and Sonic Rivals 2, Eggman Nega is Eggman's descendent, and is working against Eggman. The only way to make both of these work is if the Rivals games both take place after the Rush games. Note 14: Sonic Mania's Encore Mode was deliberately designed to have its opening ambiguous over whether Sonic Forces happened or not. Sonic Mania Adventures, meanwhile, explicitly takes place after Sonic Forces, locking that entry's placement down. In addition, it helps explain why Classic Sonic and the Phantom Ruby arrive at different points in time. Note 15: The Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games series are generally considered non-canon for good reason. The only reason I'm even entertaining the idea at all is because of a once-off mention by K.O. in a crossover episode with his show, OK K.O.: Let's Be Heroes!. Feel free to ignore these entirely.

Sonic Movie Legendary Pictures Reboot
Tumblr media
My true final edit I finally decided to put the Sonic movie positivity tags because I want this to get more attraction. Despite people may dislike this but after seeing the positivity tag since there are two but the, “Sonic movie positivity” tag is the one people use more. I just want people to notice this. Again I’m not making more of these. Especially I wanted to have discussions with folks who are more positive about the movie and just about anybody okay I’m scared of that but whatever this is fan fiction.
This is something I’ve been working on for the past two nights and this morning and just right now. I started on this late at night after I found out my grandfather was dead. For some time I wanted to try to make some fake thumbnail giving the idea Legendary bought the movie rights to Sonic. But let me talk about this. This all started after I admitted on a reblog I made detailing something like this.
I’ve been honest about the Sonic movie. Such as being cautious and optimistic compared to so much negativity that actually gets annoying. I do like how a lot of folks are excited for the film in some positivity tags for the movie, I’m grateful they are around.
Yet this was an idea I decided to write. Mainly a trilogy of films if Warner Bros and Legendary got the rights to the film. Or the possibility of the film already being rebooted. I’ll be honest it sounds rude that I’m already making this, since the film isn’t out. But I wanted to share my vision and I’m open to everyone’s thoughts. You can well be critical about it, since this is all fan fiction. At one point I was nervous to share this. Including because of that picture at the top. Including it’s very long and be warned this is part 1 of a trilogy. It’s not perfect but again this is my vision of how I wanted a Sonic movie should of been.
I’m opened to opinions and we can discuss this. Including I need to brainstorm about the first sequel and after that the second sequel. Especially this is less ambitious than my old ideas. Or it’s still ambitious because I’m sharing these details. It’s a long read.
Last edit this isn’t a part 1 anymore considering what I have decided or am deciding. This will be explained in a separate post and this is basically a first draft that I will keep out in the open for any possible discussion.
“Prepare to go fast like never before. As Warner Bros, Legendary Pictures, and Brad Peyton, director of San Andreas and Rampage bring a thrilling action filled adventured based upon the iconic Sonic The Hedgehog video game franchise to life.
With the world now threatened by a ego maniac scientist by the name of Dr. Ivo Robotnik. Who is searching for the powerful Chaos Emeralds to make his forces stronger. Sonic, the world’s fastest hedgehog and his friends must work together with a soldier to stop Robotnik’s plan from fully succeeding. But to make matters worse, to stop the hedgehog and his allies, Robotnik creates two powerful robots that could finally end the Blue Blur. They are Metal Sonic and Silver Sonic. Two powerful and deadly robots built to destroy Sonic and help Robotnik.
Now with the world trying to understand what is going on, both on the run from the government and trying to fight Robotnik’s forces. Sonic and his friends must risk their lives to save the planet from these dangerous doppelgangers, and Robotnik himself. While during the journey, friendships will be forged, along with brotherhood in the face of destructive robotic terror”
Tom Holland as Sonic The Hedgehog. A 21 year old hedgehog with a cocky attitude, easy going demeanor, and some what short temper, yet strong sense of justice, compassion, and a love of freedom and adventure. Born with the ability of super sonic speed. He uses his powers to fight off Dr. Ivo Robotnik and other evil forces.
Height: 4 feet.
Chris Pratt as Sergeant Gary Andrews. A 31 year old GUN soldier with a confident attitude and headstrong with a sense of justice for all life forms, but also very down to earth. Including very courageous in times of extreme danger.
Realizing that Sonic and his friends may be the world’s best chance at stopping Robotnik, he goes on the run from the same military he’s in to help them.
Paul Giammatti as Dr. Ivo Robotnik. A 54 year old scientist with a high IQ of 300 who wants to take over the world. Truly an ego maniac who has a psychotic belief of self entitlement, as well arrogant and narcissistic. He won’t stop at his goal and will destroy anyone that gets in his way.
Finn Wolfhard as Miles Tails Prower. A 14 year old two tailed fox. Possessing very high intelligence, and being a mechanical genius, but also a sweet and gentle soul. He’s Sonic’s best friend and looks to Sonic as a brother figure and inspiration. Able to use his two tails to fly and amazing as an aerial pilot, Tails is truly a big help.
Height: 3 feet.
Hailee Steinfeld as Amy Rose. A 18 year old hedgehog who’s a cheerful attitude, though erratic girl, with a positive attitude and boundless energy. Even though some times having a scary temper, she actually has a pure heart. Including has a crush on Sonic but keeps it to a minimal and it’s mainly a secret. She’s not obsessed with him but wants to accompany him on his adventures.
Height: 4 feet.
Metal Sonic. A robotic doppelganger of Sonic himself. Possibly Robotnik’s greatest creation, and serving as his obedient and silent enforcer. Metal is a intelligent machine with a very dark side. Truly a cold hearted, aggressive, and ruthless killer. He’s obsessed with proving his superiority to Sonic in every way and destroying him once and for all. All to finally prove that he’s the, “Real Sonic”.
Height: 4 feet.
Silver Sonic. Another robotic doppelganger of Sonic himself. But compared to Metal, Silver Sonic is more like a machine that gets told what needs to be done. More focused on causing destruction and will kill anyone that appose Robotnik’s rule. Truly a tall brute that’s more bulky, and monstrous than Metal. Making him Robotnik’s muscle. Yet still fast which makes him overall dangerous.
Height: 11 feet.
Emilia Clarke as Katherine Grady. A 31 year old zoologist and a single mother who travelled to South Island and has lived there for some time. Originally from London, she wanted to study and discover what life is like on the island that not many humans travel to. She’s a caring and supportive woman who values all forms of life. Yet she will get serious when she needs to be. Especially to protect the ones she loves, including her daughter.
She has actually known Sonic for some time but not much. But she gets caught up with Sonic, his friends, and Gary when they are on South Island. Finding out what’s going on she helps them by trying to find where Robotnik may be at.
Millie Bobby Brown as Kaliyah Grady. A 14 year old girl and Katherine’s daughter. With Katherine giving birth to Kaliyah at a young age but helped by her father. Kaliyah's father didn’t wanna take care of his daughter anymore because he felt it wasn’t his responsibility, leaving the two and other family members when Kaliyah was 4.
Kaliyah is a fearless and generous young girl. Growing up and not affected much by her father walking out of her life. A bit more adventurous than her mother in some regards. She actually makes friends with Tails and the others when she and her mother get caught up with Sonic.
Idris Elba as Abraham Westbrook. The 54 year old Commander of GUN short for Guardian Units Of Nations. He is Gary’s commander. While being described having a, “Heart Of Stone” and stoic, he is actually quite passionate, having a softer side he rarely shows, and a great sense of duty towards his people.
Assuming Sonic is a threat and shocked when Gary who he considers one of his best soldiers actually tries to help the hedgehog. He realizes Gary was right when he sees Sonic is only trying to stop Robotnik just like him.
Joe Manganiello as Lieutenant Derek Sanderson. A 41 year old GUN soldier who’s good friends with Gary. Despite being more stoic and serious than Gary, he values the same sense of values Gary shares. During a search for Robotnik, Metal Sonic ambushes the squad that was sent, and murders almost everyone. Except for Derek who had survived. Only seeing Metal as what he describes as a, “Blue Blur” and his shape. He and even the commander believe Sonic is working for Robotnik.
Believing Sonic to have murdered his squad and working for Robotnik. He considers Sonic a, “Psychopathic Freak” and makes it his personal mission to not just kill Robotnik, but also Sonic. Basically developing a hatred of the hedgehog and will not stop till he’s dead. What makes it worse when he finds out Gary has joined Sonic to help him. He see’s it as a betrayal of brotherhood, he and GUN try to catch them. Even if he has to get answers out of what he considers Sonic’s associates which are his friends Tails, and Amy, but also Katherine and her daughter.
Setting, characters, and notes.
1. The development of the story was rather difficult. Including I think I felt the pain and annoyance of how the development for the story of Brad Peyton’s Rampage went like. Also possibly even the writers behind Jeff Fowler’s Sonic movie. As the start of a possible franchise and first film, elements of Sonic The Hedgehog 1 and 2, and Sonic CD were used. With characters like Sonic, Dr. Robotnik/Eggman, Tails, Amy, Metal Sonic, and Silver Sonic(From Sonic 2 also known as Mecha Sonic too) being the first to be introduced.
Looking over those first three games and trying to build a story was difficult. Because there was hardly any(Since gameplay was the main focus) but elements that could be used.
There were possibilities of the Death Egg and Little Planet. But to avoid a possible lawsuit by Disney it’s likely a Death Egg adaption might not happened unless it’s changed a bit. Including Little Planet seems a bit much to introduce including the Death Egg.
So the story became a more simple but working one that uses elements from those earlier games. With the simple premise being Sonic with his allies must stop Robotnik from getting all the Chaos Emeralds which would help him a lot.
2. It’s strangely an origin story in a way. While Sonic, Tails, and Amy have known each other for a long while. But Robotnik and Sonic haven’t met yet. Yet Robotnik knows about Sonic and is impressed and inspired to make two robots. One to be a perfect counterpart to Sonic himself(Metal Sonic), and one that’s more of a brute(Silver Sonic) and extra back up.
With Sonic being framed in a way by Metal, and Robotnik having a larger goal to take over the world and build Robotnik Land. Including to give his newest robotic helpers Metal and Silver Sonic all the power they need to help him take over.
3. The setting is based upon a theory I’ve had for the world of Sonic in the games. If you ignore the, “Two Worlds” thing or something. Including this set up also confirms what will be explored in the next film.
Animal like people such as Sonic have been on the Earth from the start. It’s not a story where a character from another dimension comes to our world. In a similar sense it’s like Legendary’s Monsterverse and that creatures like Sonic have been here since the start. In a era before humans became the dominant species.
What happened to these animals is that because of when Chaos decided to unleash his anger on the world. The scene from Sonic Adventure, Chaos was the reason why these animals are no larger the dominant species in a sense. Because of Chaos supposedly destroying the world. While many other species got to live. Tragically the echidna race had it far worse since they were the first to suffer and were the reason Chaos was angered. Slowly the echidna race was near extinction. Which led to Knuckles being the only one of his kind.
Again Chaos is the reason why Sonic and his friends and other animals seem rare. As they live on certain islands and South Island being one of them. Yet there is no tension between these animals and humans. Because there is no point and humanity views these creatures as equals. Yet considering these creatures don’t go out in the human world much, it’s rather surprising to see one in public. This is something the first sequel will explore.
4. Honestly some of this such as Sonic characters, and in some ways the story is inspired by what was the leaked story for the Sonic movie. https://www.reddit.com/r/SonicTheHedgehog/comments/7e8a15/some_info_about_the_upcoming_sonic_film/ Unknown if it’s truly fake or it was an actual story for the movie. It’s something I don’t mind considering it’s doing what I’m doing. Because when I look at this I would of liked to see the upcoming Sonic movie be something like this. Despite my annoyance with how Chaos is treated. Unless you explore him in a sequel.
5. Brad Peyton is a choice I’ve wanted for sometime because of his work on Rampage. But also to add to that San Andreas, yet Rampage being the biggest reason. Another choice which I’m still thinking about is Michael Dougherty who directed Trick R Treat, Krampus, and Godzilla King Of The Monsters. Yet Brad has that style I want for the film and give him a good writer and it can help.
6. Robotnik was actually a well known genius before becoming a villain. Related to the great Gerald Robotnik.(Confirming his existence in this universe and setting up the possibility of a Sonic Adventure 2 adaption and in a way confirming Shadow probably exists in this universe and so does the Space Colony Ark) Ivo was actually respected but over time people began to see who he was.
He moved to South Island to get away from the human world. Including where he wouldn’t be interrupted and plan for something greater. It’s where South Island he builds his dangerous robots especially Metal Sonic and Silver Sonic. Including he learns of the Chaos Emeralds and wants to use them for his own selfish reasons.
Before hand Robotnik wasn’t bothered by the animals on South Island and assumed he was friendly, Ivo just minded his own business yet he took advantage of the situation by making his own company, making money off the animals to get more parts. Including selling some of his machinery to buyers from across the world. His entire workforce is made out of robots. For a lot of years he kept out of the public eye for many years to make a big surprise. Which is him rising up to become a villain.
7. Metal Sonic is heavily inspired by his OVA counterpart. While Robotnik was inspired by Sonic’s powers to make Metal. He truly wanted to make the perfect killing machine. But also something that can destroy Sonic if he were to try to stop him. Robotnik gave Metal intelligence to learn and adapt from Sonic. Which leads to Metal developing this mindset and obsession that he should be the only Sonic. While not having something like Sonic’s, “Life Data” like in the OVA where he has Sonic’s memories. He’s more like how Sonic CD introduced him. Yet after encountering Sonic he slowly starts changing and develops this hatred of his organic counterpart.
Edit after looking at Hyper Metal Sonic on Sonic News Network. I still wanna incorporate the concept of Metal having Sonic’s memories. Because the idea makes Metal seem more dangerous and like the info said make him durable. Maybe Robotnik gets Sonic’s blood somehow it’s tricky. I just love the OVA so it’s mainly like that version. Edit I’ll admit and use that quill idea which me and other folks are thinking in the trailer for Jeff Fowler’s Sonic movie that Robotnik might use that quill of Sonic to power Metal Sonic or something.
Especially Metal’s design from the games hardly changed. Including the direction to take with Metal was to make him scary. He doesn’t talk, he doesn’t care who he hurts, he’s super fast and super strong. Robotnik intended him to be the true opposite of Sonic. Any others are just back up, while Metal is seen as perfect, the true copy.
While cranking up the idea he’s like the OVA but cranked up to be more scary. Including inspirations from Brightburn, Man Of Steel, and Brad Peyton’s Rampage and not just the OVA. He’s brutal, fast, and unforgiving, but not to a point it’s R rated but it’s shown he’s actually killing people, even breaking bones, yet still PG-13. Showcasing Robotnik went all out to make him this perfect killing machine. Especially to frame Sonic for murdering GUN soldiers.
8. Silver Sonic while based upon the final boss before the Death Egg Robot in Sonic The Hedgehog 2. He’s actually inspired by Silver Sonic V3.0/V3.1 from the Archie Sonic comics. Such as design which resembles more of modern Sonic but still huge.
The direction for Silver Sonic is while Metal is the true copy of Sonic, he was built to be a unbeatable tank. What Robotnik did with Silver Sonic is that he wanted a tall and almost unstoppable monster. The fact Robotnik loved what Sonic’s abilities can do, he didn’t wanna just make one. Silver Sonic is mainly a brute, built to be the tank while Metal is more of Robotnik’s enforcer and to lead his robots. Especially as Silver Sonic does not care of proving his superiority to Sonic, he listens to Robotnik, and just wants to wreck shit and kill anybody who appose Robotnik’s rule.
A name to call them is the, “Metal Brothers”.
But also the other reason why Silver Sonic was added is kind of funny. It was the idea to add a larger robot. Since the Death Egg Robot is connected to the Death Egg, and while Robotnik has used many machines to fight Sonic. I just love robotic Sonic’s. Including the reason to make so tall is that I some what wanted a giant monster, something like a kaiju. Yet it’s not because it’s a giant robotic Sonic causing destruction and shit. But compared to Metal, he’s built to be different.
Another funny thing his height was chosen by what people believe how tall a sasquatch is.
Mecha Sonic from Sonic & Knuckles will make an appearance in the first sequel. Being a replacement for Silver Sonic after he’s destroyed.
9. All of the animal characters are CGI. But their designs are changed radically. They are very familiar. Yet they are more furrier, Sonic has fingerless gloves, it’s unknown of how Amy might look but some changes might be made.(Because of her dress and how under it is exposed) But she would remain familiar. It’s done in a similar route like Legendary’s Detective Pikachu. But other added details such as Sonic’s eyes don’t look like one eye. Despite it was confirmed they are two eyes in the games.
Along with little details like Sonic having fangs like in Sonic Adventure. With the possibility of Sonic’s ears could be curved a bit. But it might make a live action werehog’s ears look redundant. Yet the werehog looks really different.
Sonic, Amy, and Tails were buffed up to be taller and actually older. To show that they were teenagers or young adults, and that they were not that small. Compared to their game’s counterparts. Really I didn’t want them to be that small.
Their ages were buffed up about six years from the games counterparts. The reason being while strange, was the fact these characters get porn drawn of them. It’s best to make them older so we are playing it safe. Yet the other direction is the fact they are a bit more mature. But they are the same characters you still know.
10. Green Hill(despite the annoyance of the fanbase), Chemical Plant(that too despite the annoyance the fanbase), Mystic Cave, Labyrinth, and Metropolis are included as real places. While development of the world is still at hand, the concept that certain countries of today still exist while some fictional places in certain countries.
Metropolis is where the final battle on the main land takes place between Sonic and Gary against Metal and Silver Sonic, and whoever else is involved. Originally a version of Stardust Speedway was gonna be in here. But considering it’s origin it was best to keep it out. Despite it being the place where Sonic and Metal first clash in the games.
11. The movie explores the themes of friendship and brotherhood. Including with elements of family. With Gary in a way a older but human version of what Sonic could be. His bond develops over the course of the film with the hedgehog. Including things such as Sonic and Tail’s brotherhood, Gary’s brotherhood with Derek. Including the friendship between Kaliyah and Sonic’s friends. Along with the idea Gary being the father figure to Kaliyah, Katherine’s friendship with Amy.
Which jeez that’s a lot. Yet this development of characters makes them strong. Especially in the face of certain characters such as Robotnik, Metal, and Silver Sonic.
12. The characters of Katherine(Especially her), and Kaliyah are inspired by Johanna and Hilda from the Netflix series Hilda.
Along with the fact originally Millie Bobby Brown was gonna play Amy. But I wanted to add this daughter element and Millie as Amy I guess bothered me. Despite it being good casting, but I wanted to be comfortable with it so I decided to have Hailee Steinfeld as Amy.
13. Idris Ebla is indeed playing the movie version of the GUN Commander from the video games. The reason I didn’t have his name as Tower because of possible idea that Sega wouldn’t allow that since his name in the Archie Sonic comics is Abraham Tower. But hopefully still using the Abraham name is fine. Especially it’s meaning since for these human characters I looked up there meanings like I do with my other character castings.
Reasons why Idris is casted as the commander because simply Idris is awesome. Including the presence he would bring to the character. The other choice was Lawrence Fishburne. Besides his race wasn’t important from what I know. Despite I do think of trying to diversify casting. But I like these casting choices.
Yet also the commander being here sets up his role or something in a Sonic Adventure 2 adaption. While it also helps with the idea someone needs to be in charge of these military forces.
14. The score would be composed by Andrew Lockington who did the scores for Brad Peyton’s San Andreas and Rampage. Other musical choices include Papa Roach with, “Face Everything And Rise”, and 30 Seconds To Mars with, “This Is War”. Including the added bonus of the original Sonic Boom song from Sonic CD, a possible song from Crush 40, and even Zebrahead with, “His World”. Along with possibly Linkin Park’s, “Numb” which is a theme between Sonic and Metal. With a added bonus of, “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” by Smashing Pumpkins and Christion Gray’s, “Stop Me”.
15: Reason why a human element was included for some reasons. Okay reason because it’s live action yet other reasons. While I like characters like Princess Elise(I would like to adapt her and change 06 probably but I don’t know if Sega and Sonic Team and much of the fanbase would even allow that. I would love to put maybe a cameo, and a easter to show Soleanna exists in this world. But the story of 06 would be different), and I’m bothered by a character like Chris Thorndyke. There seems to be this stigma against humans which is some what reasonable.
The concept of having Gary be a soldier and a adult, strangely an action hero is to defy expectations and make certain fans change their minds. Including to have a human directly trying to help Sonic instead of being a cheerleader. He’s literally trained for this, and is actually going against his military to help this hedgehog. Along with the fact he’s so courageous it doesn’t matter he tries to go against certain robots, especially Metal and Silver Sonic. Give him a assault rifle and a grenade launcher and he’s gonna do the best he can. He will be terrified but he’s not gonna run away, he’s truly what if Sonic was a human being but older. Including he’s not gonna lose what is possibly the best friend or even a brother he never had, that shares the same values he has.
While I know not every human needs to be that, and that’s good. But Gary is the example of a person who’s willing to risk his life to not just save the planet, but to also protect a creature he never knew that would be his best friend. The kind of hero who does something because it’s the right thing to do.
16. I’m tempted to add Dwayne Johnson but I won’t. Besides he has Rampage anyway and other major films. But I’m not tempted anymore.
17. I strangely wanna put a little reference to Steven Universe considering two characters are inspired by Hilda. Such as actors or similar to certain characters. But the film will be filled with more characters and you gonna be careful with a lot of characters. Maybe the next movie.
End Of Part 1. Now considering my last edit at the top, it’s not a part 1 anymore.

Reunions: Chapter 1 of 4: Preparation
AAAAAAAAAAAAAA I STOPPED POSTING HERE LIKE AN IDIOT
Okay, back in the game now, time for the second and final of the “End of comic baggage” arcs, that being the stuff I needed to get out of the way before I could start really telling my own stories.
Sonic: Revival- Reunions
Chapter 1 of 4: Preparation
The first thing Sally did after her return to life was sleep. Three months of uninterrupted consciousness had to come to an end, even if she hadn’t technically needed to rest during that time. Once she woke up the following day, however, she sat down at Tails’ kitchen table with Sonic, Amy, Rotor, Silver, and Tails himself. Nicole and Emerl lingered nearby. Charles had returned to the city, bidding fond farewells to each of them, leaving the Freedom Fighters and their new friends to their own devices. “I have a plan,” Sally stated, tenting her fingers as she leaned against the table. “I have been waiting too long to hear that again,” Sonic grinned. Sally smiled back at him, then focused once again. “We’re going to get the Republic back. We’re going to oust Naugus, and we’re going to make some reforms… But we need to be stronger first,” She began. “I like that idea, but how are we going to do it. With what Naugus is pulling, if we run in there and beat him down, he’ll probably spin that as us being the villains,” Nicole sighed. “Well, there goes my idea,” Emerl shrugged. “How is this guy even making himself look like the good guy anyway. From what Nicole’s told me, he’s not a good actor.” “Mind control,” Tails replied. “Huh?!” Half the room turned to look at him. “Can he do that?” Amy asked. “I thought that was Mogul’s thing…” Sonic mumbled. “Then again, the shadow magic somewhat came out of nowhere, I remember him being more about the four elements before…” Nicole murmured, stroking her chin. Silver paused for a moment, then sighed, and spoke up. “I have more information on that front, actually.” “Oh?” “Yes. Sally, your brother and I have been working together with a few others behind the scenes. We uncovered a plot on Naugus’ part to brainwash the council. We stopped him, and did a number on him, but I don’t know if it’ll keep him down.” “Hm, useful information,” Sally nodded. “Also, worrying. As belligerent as the Council have been, they’re the only thing between him and absolute power. Still, is Elias okay?” “Last I checked, he was,” Silver replied. “That’s good to know. Thank you, Silver,” Sally smiled. “Does Uncle Chuck know the danger he was in?” Sonic asked. “Yes, he does. He helps our team move around so we informed him. Unfortunately, he’s the only one that knows,” Silver explained. “Because of that, he can’t really do a whole lot. If he tells the others what Naugus is planning, well, Naugus can just ask how he found that out…” “We need at least four of the Council on our side. Before, we could rely on Elias to tiebreak in our favour, but now that Naugus is in charge, and he’s the one we’re trying to get rid of…” Tails frowned. “We can count on Sir Charles, and Isabella,” Nicole added. “Mom doesn’t like the Acorns much, but I think I can convince her that Naugus is worse,” The fox brightened a little. “That’s just three…” Sonic sighed. “Besides, isn’t the big issue getting him to be seen as the bad guy by the public?” “Depends what sort of mind control it is. If he has to keep it maintained to keep people following him, then we can just knock him out and it should wear off…” Tails explained. “I hope it’s that kind!” Emerl piped up. “It isn’t… but I know what his power source is,” Sally replied. “What we need to do is take that Chaos Emerald away from him, and his whole plan should come crashing down…” “Wait, how do you know that?” Sonic asked. “I had Eggman’s database in my head, and the two of them were colluding,” Sally replied. “That’s how he knew when Elias was leaving the city… Sonic, is… is Antoine...” “He’s alive, but he’s in a coma,” Sonic replied gravely. “Bunnie ran after that… I think she went to get stronger, somehow… but I don’t like what that might mean…” “Huh? What do you mean, Sonic?” Amy asked. “She made me promise to not talk about this…” He sighed. “I don’t wanna break that trust, but this is important.” “Is this about her Uncle?” Sally asked. “Her Uncle?!” Tails, Amy, Rotor, and Nicole balked. “I didn’t know she had an Uncle…” “You knew?” Sonic stared at her. “Of course I knew,” Sally replied, leaning against the table. “Bunnie is one of my best friends, she told me everything. And after what happened with Fiona, I’ve been running tighter background checks on everyone outside of the original five and Nicole.” “Oh yeah, you asked me a bunch of questions a while ago,” Amy nodded, smiling in realisation. “So that’s what it was all about.” “Yes. And while I respect Bunnie’s want to keep this secret, we’re going to have to head after her before we make a move. She’s part of that stronger base I want. So, since you’re about to find out anyway… Bunnie’s uncle, Beauregard Rabbot, is a Grandmaster.” “WHAT!?” “You don’t think she’s, erm, ended up as part of his Legion, do you?” Silver spoke up. He chose his words carefully… Sonic’s reactions to his accusations during his hunt for the traitor had been… aggressive, and even now, the blue hedgehog was giving him a look. Clearly, he had caught the unspoken meaning behind his question… “Bunnie wouldn’t do that. Even if she’s desperate for a way to get her cybernetics back and strike back against Eggman, she wouldn’t deliver herself to him.” Amy protested. “No, she wouldn’t. And I don’t think Beauregard would properly legionise her. He’s not a bad guy,” Sonic folded his arms. “Er, he works for the guy that made Sally into a robot with bomb inside her,” Emerl shrugged. “Not really by choice. The local Freedom Fighter group, the Sandblasters, practically forced out everyone that was once a Robian. They don’t trust anybody that was ever forced into Eggman’s control, and that left a lot of people with nowhere to turn except to Eggman himself. It’s a vicious cycle, and the only person that benefited from it was Eggman.” “I don’t like these Sandblaster guys. I think I wanna punch ‘em,” The Gizoid glowered. “So does this mean that Bunnie is safe? Will Beauregard help her?” “I don’t know…” Sally shook her head. “He’s a more honourable man than most of Eggman’s minions, and I don’t think Eggman knew she was there… if he did, he would’ve had her sent to him… But we can’t be sure of his underlings’ intentions for her…” “So we have to get her back,” Rotor frowned. “Yes. Fortunately, I’ve worked out what to do…” Sally stood up, folding her arms behind her back. “We’re going to split into two groups. One will go after Bunnie, and the other will make preparations for our move on the city, by rendezvousing with Silver’s team. There are eight of us, so two teams of four.” “Who’s going on each one?” “The team going after Bunnie are going to be landing right in the middle of a Legion Chapter and a group of renegade Freedom Fighters. They’re going to need to be fast about it, and we have no transport with the Tornado down… So I’m sending Sonic, Tails, and Emerl. Nicole, you work well with Emerl, so you’ll be going with them.” “Works for me!” Emerl pumped her fist. “Yeah, we can handle that!” Sonic nodded. “We’ll do our best,” Tails smiled. “You can count on us, Sally,” Nicole added. “Good. Silver, you’re going to take myself, Rotor, and Amy back to the city as quietly as possible. We’ll coordinate with your team and make our plans to oust Naugus that way.” “Yes, your highness,” He saluted. Sally laughed slightly, as the Freedom Fighters sighed, Sonic’s palm meeting his face. “Please, just call me Sally. I’ve never cared for formalities,” She smiled. “Oh, right, sorry,” Silver blushed awkwardly. “In any case… let’s get going.” *** Emerl wasn’t familiar with the Great Desert region, but with Nicole’s assistance, she was still able to get them into the general area with her Chaos Control. “Glad I’m sandproof,” She folded her arms. “So, what’s the plan? We’re landing in the middle of an active war between some bad guys and some slightly less bad but still bad guys.” “I have an idea, actually,” Nicole spoke up, her avatar resting on Emerl’s shoulder. “Most of the Desert Legion are only loyal to Eggman because they have to be. He has various methods of keeping them under control, but mostly he uses a surgically implanted cherry bomb inside the victim’s skull. They turn against him, he blows them up.” “I am really starting to regret not putting my fist through his chest when I had the chance,” The Gizoid growled. Sonic and Tails gave each other uncertain looks. “I intend to disable the bombs,” Nicole announced. “Due to the situation they’re in, they’ve made a fully functioning city of their own. If it weren’t under Eggman’s control, there would be substantially fewer problems with it. Once that’s done, it would be easier to justify removing the Sandblasters.” “I like it!” Sonic grinned. “How are we going to get you in, though?” Tails asked. “We’ll need a distraction… and I don’t think we can rely on Jack and his minions to be helpful. Added, I don’t want to give them the chance to kill any innocent people or cause damage…” Nicole mused, stroking her chin. “Wait, when Bunnie and I were here before, we managed to wreck a foundry by pretending to fight. Tails and I won’t even need to keep up the illusion, we can just focus on doing some damage,” Sonic snapped his fingers. “That should work…” “Whaddya say, buddy? Feel like having a cathartic throwdown with some bots?” Sonic grinned at the fox. “Yeah, that should really get some of the stress off,” He nodded. “Awesome. What about Emerl?” The blue hedgehog glanced at the two machines. “Emerl will be taking me into the base. She’s strong enough to punch through anything in our way, should the place go on lockdown. Ultimately, our goal will be find Bunnie. Beauregard won’t trust me, but he might trust her. That will be our best shot.” “I will endeavour to try and avoid punching anyone too hard,” Emerl announced. “Alright then, let’s go!” Sonic turned, racing off in a cloud of sand. Tails shrugged and followed, as Emerl rose up, aiming herself toward the base. *** Beauregard Rabbot stepped into his office, slumping down in his chair with a sigh. Meetings with Eggman after he had lost something major were always a unique kind of stressful. There was nothing quite as terrifying as watching an old man have an extended temper-tantrum when that old man also had the power to end your life with the touch of a button if you so much as breathed out of turn. This time, it seemed that the shiny new Death Egg was grounded permanently after Sonic and his friends stole its power source. Lien-Da and most of her legion were also gone, not dead, just… gone. He wouldn’t say where, but given Eggman’s reaction, Beauregard didn’t think it was a voluntary thing on their part, nor something that Eggman himself did. He had also lost something else, but at that point, Eggman became unintelligible with rage and the video conference had ended shortly afterwards. Aside from the hazard to his health, Beauregard couldn’t help but feel a certain sense of relief from the news, however. He had never been the most loyal to the Eggman Empire, rather, it was the only place that would accept him and everyone else who had once been a Robian, at least within a practical distance. The dramatic upswing in Eggman’s progress had been worrying, and hearing that it had petered out and gone into reverse was something he could live with. In the end, it had been easy for him to choose his family over the Empire. Bunnie had arrived a few weeks after the launch of the Death Egg, and Beauregard’s face-to-face introduction to what had become of his niece’s best friend. He had no love for the Acorn family, but everything he had heard about Princess Sally had told him that she was far from the dubious standard set by her lineage, and a bright hope for the future of the Republic. To him, she was far more Bunnie’s friend than Maximilian’s progeny. Bunnie had arrived with worse news. Ixis Naugus had taken control of New Mobotropolis, her friends had fractured apart, and her husband was in a deathly coma. Beauregard had never met Antoine DeCoolette, but hearing Bunnie talk about him made it clear that he would definitely have liked to. Attempts to comfort her by pointing out that she had at least finally been deroboticized had not gone well. It turned out that her state was the result of Naugus’ magic, and on the following mission, she had forgotten to bring any weapons- Years of having integrated weaponry and super-strength had made her used to not using them, and she’d just not remembered- and that resulted in her getting knocked out by Mecha Sally and directly led to her being unable to protect Antoine from his fate. He took her in and provided her with a room, making sure to keep her hidden from all but his most trusted men. Those he knew would not reveal her presence to Eggman just for a quick promotion. He promised her that he would give her any good developments on the situation with Eggman, and he would do anything she needed to get her back on her feet. He’d spat his coffee out when she came to him a month later and asked to be turned back into a cyborg. “Darlin’, I understand why you’re sayin’ this,” He had said, looking down at her. She met his eyes with a steely gaze of her own, more determined than he had ever seen her. “But… It ain’t that simple anymore. If I use the legion tech on you, you’re never going to be normal again.” “Bein’ a cyborg is normal for me. I had long accepted that I was never gonna be completely flesh-and-blood again, before Naugus did that to me. Sure, I wanted to be turned back… but when it happened, it cost me everythin’...” Reluctantly, he had agreed. He couldn’t argue with his niece’s decision. When she had arrived, she looked lost and confused. She had later admitted that she had come to him because she panicked and didn’t have anyone else to turn to. But now there was a fire in her eyes that wasn’t going to be doused by anything. It took him another whole month to find a Legion tech that was more loyal to him than to Eggman. He had no intention of allowing anyone to put an explosive in Bunnie’s head. The operation had taken several hours, but he made sure to use the finest parts he had access to, and it ultimately went smoothly. Bunnie walked out of the operating theatre on a new pair of mechanical legs, her left arm glinting in the sunlight. He had his questions about the single arm, but she had explained to him that she had developed her own fighting style based around having a single strong arm and a single dextrous one. Now, just over a month later, she was ready to leave. She had packed up the room she had been sleeping in that morning, though she didn’t have a lot of personal belongings with her. A gentle knocking on his door alerted him to her presence, and he quickly opened it, allowing her to step inside. She had a duffle bag over her shoulder, her hat was back on, and she’d pulled her hair back into a rough ponytail. She wrapped her arms around him, smiling. “Thanks for everythin’, Uncle Beau,” She said, speaking quietly. “You’re welcome, Bunnie. I’m glad I could help you,” He replied. “All things considered, now is probably a good time for you to make your move. I just got out of a meeting with the doctor, and he’s beyond mad.” “Oh?” “Yeah, apparently your friends stole the power supply to his Death Egg and grounded it at the north pole. Lien-Da’s entire legion has apparently vamoosed somewhere, and he lost something else that he was too angry to actually annunciate.” “That’s great news!” Bunnie beamed. True, she had wanted to be ready in time to help turn the tide, but adding her own power to the mix while Eggman was already on the back foot could probably secure a much greater comeback, since she wouldn’t be expected. “I thought you might be pleased,” He chuckled. “Any news on Sally?” “None, I’m afraid. But I know you can bring her in, Bunnie. I made sure of it,” He replied. “You’ll get your friend back, I promise.” “Alright then, I guess I-” Before Bunnie could finish, a siren began to blare, and Beauregard’s screen lit up. “ALERT. FREEDOM FIGHTER PRESENCE DETECTED. ALERT. PRIORITY: ONE.” “Sonic? What’s he doin’ here? He’s supposed to be chasin’ Sally-gal…” Bunnie frowned. “He probably worked out you’d be here and wants to get a little more backup, I guess…” The older rabbit shrugged. “What’s he actually doin’ out there?” “Looks like he’s just tryin’ to draw attention to himself… So yeah… I think that’s your ride.” “I guess so. Thanks again, Uncle Beau,” She hugged him as tightly as she could without hurting his back. “Love you.” “Love you too, Bunnie.” *** Sonic and Tails had been expecting a welcoming committee of heavily-armed robots and legionnaires. They hadn’t been expecting a single person to fly out to meet them. They certainly hadn’t expected that person to be Bunnie. Immediately, all three of them embraced, Bunnie immediately blurting out apologies for her sudden exit. “Bunnie, it’s okay,” Sonic replied. “You were going through something impossible, it’s okay to freak out when stuff like that happens.” “Yeah, everyone reacts to things like that differently. We can’t hold anything against you,” Tails added, before he noticed the cold feeling of the arm around him. “But, you’re… y’know, metal again.” “Yeah, I know. I made sure Uncle Beau was watchin’, no bombs for me, but I had to do it. This is who I really am, guys. I accepted that a long time ago, and if I wanna get my best friend back and protect my husband, that’s who I gotta be,” She separated from them, clenching her mechanical fist. “Well, uh, Sally’s back.” “Wait, really? That’s great!” Bunnie pulled him into a back-breaking hug, tears welling up in the corners of her eyes. “I knew you could do it!” “Well, technically Nicole and her new robot buddy did most of the work,” He wheezed. “Don’t sell us short, Sonic. We did manage to catch her and start bringing her home. Nicole and Emerl just pulled our fat out of the fryer when Eggman decided he wasn’t going to give up,” Tails interjected. “How is she?” Bunnie asked, releasing Sonic. “Safe, happy, and back to organic,” Tails replied. “The operation to make deroboticization possible again was a difficult one, but we managed to make it work. She went back to the city with Amy, Rotor, and Silver. They’re going to meet up with Silver’s team and make a plan to overthrow Naugus. She asked us to come out here and bring you home, so the team can all be back together.” “All of us? Is Antoine…?” “Alive, stable, still out, I’m afraid,” Sonic sighed. “That said, I haven’t been home since just after you left, so maybe there’s been some change… We’ll find out when we all get back.” “Yeah, I suppose. A part of me hopes he didn’t wake up to find me missin’...” “I’m sure he’d understand, Bunnie,” Tails put his hand on her shoulder. “I know. But that doesn’t make it better… Anyway, you mentioned Nicole got a new robot buddy?” “Yes, right!” Sonic nodded. “Her name’s Emerl, and she’s crazy-strong. Technically she’s something that the Brain Trust found and worked on before Fi told ‘em that just one of that sort of robot went crazy and wiped out a civilisation. Also, we think she can copy attacks.” “Huh… glad she’s on our side,” Bunnie mused. “Yeah, that’s why we made sure that only Sally or Nicole could activate her. Fortunately, she and Nicole seem to get on really well, and they’ve been working as a team. They helped save Sally, and Emerl took down an Egg Beater single-handedly!” Tails beamed. “Geesh… So where are they? I wanna meet this new friend of yours.” The reunion was interrupted by a streak of blue slamming down on the opposite side of the fortress wall, smoke beginning to rise from where it struck the ground. “Er, that would be her right there,” Tails mumbled. “Y’see, Nicole had this plan…”
_________________________________________________
If Beauregard seems inconsistent in these two chapters, compared to his comic self, yeah that’s what happens when you have a two-parter that ends with him and Bunnie effectively deciding that they’re enemies first and family second, and then have Bunnie immediately go to him when the plot decides to write her out.
I’ll go into greater detail much further down the line, but basically, seeing the weaponised Mecha Sally, learning about the World Roboticizer, and realising all that those two things implied prompted him to maybe realise that the Acorn Republic was the lesser of two evils now.
Also in this chapter, I will be trying to dodge around any and all connections between the Acorn/Baronies conflict and the American Civil War because yikes.
Also Silver told Sally and co. about the Secret FF because keeping secrets from your own side is pretty darn silly.

Another Sonic Forces Shortfic
Meanwhile, the Resistance group were searching everywhere for Gadget and yet every attempt proved futile.
“Where’s Rookie?” Vector wondered out loud.
“Yeah, we’ve been looking everywhere for him!” Knuckles complained in agreement.
“I’m sure that Eggface must’ve taken him,” Sonic replied in a dejected tone.
Just then, a familiar masked jackal appeared before them, floating above them.
“If it isn’t this blue savior and his friends here,” Infinite sneered.
“Where’s Gadget?!” Sonic demanded.
“Yeah!” everyone else yelled in agreement.
“So you’ve been searching for that trembling child,” Infinite said, intrigued. “Don’t worry, I’ve kept him safe and I’m sure he might be glad to see you now.”
With that, he then signaled the familiar wolf to appear out of nowhere and approach our heroes. However, they all noticed something different about him and not in a good way; his once warm amber eyes were now cold, empty, lifeless, vacant and calculating and he was now wearing a skintight black jumpsuit with the red Eggman Empire insignia emblazoned on it. Oddly enough, he still had his Burst Wispon in hand.
“Rookie, what’s happened to you?” Knuckles whispered in horror.
Gadget then raised his Burst Wispon at our heroes while Infinite snickered.
“Buddy, it’s us!” Sonic shouted.
“What’s wrong, Rookie?” Vector questioned. “Don’t you recognize us anymore?”
“I’d hate to see Zelda now,” Shadow admitted in agreement.
“I’m his partner now,” Gadget replied coldly. “Nothing personal, but that’s business, right?”
With that, he ended up using his Burst Wispon to shoot fire beams at our heroes, who barely managed to dodge it on time.
“You masked clown!” Sonic roared. “What did you do to our friend?!”
“That’s a long story, my dear blue rat,” Infinite chuckled. “Dr. Eggman and I kidnapped him and brought him to the former’s lair, where I used my Phantom Ruby prototype that’s fused to my chest to twist his memories of you do-gooders; therefore, he’s under my control now.”
“This can’t be happening!” Silver gasped in horror.
“He’s been brainwashed!” Knuckles yelled in agreement.
“Faker, we need to fight back!” Shadow suggested.
However, Sonic couldn’t help but stare in horror at Gadget’s pupilless, vacant eyes.
“What’s the matter, blue rat?” Gadget taunted. “Can’t fight back?”
“Please, listen to me, buddy,” Sonic pleaded. “This isn’t you. I know you’re in there somewhere. We all do! You’re on the wrong side now and you need to fight it!”
“Sonic, be careful!” Tails cried out.
“Yeah, we almost lost you,” Amy shouted in agreement, “and we won’t lose you again!”
“Please fight it,” Sonic begged.
“You insolent fool,” Infinite sneered. “You can hear him all you want, but he can’t hear you.”
Gadget proceeded to fire some more flames at Sonic, who had to run around like crazy in order to avoid getting singed.
“Come on,” Gadget taunted yet again, “fight back!”
Just then, Sonic had an idea.
“Knuckles,” Sonic said, “maybe I’ll just knock him down, but you guys will have to try to hold him down as long as you can!”
“Sonic, are you crazy?!” Knuckles snapped in shock.
“Trust me,” Sonic said prior to turning to Gadget with a sad look on his face. “Sorry, buddy, but you leave us no choice.”
Sonic then proceeded to jump in the air prior to executing his Spin Dash; afterwards, he managed to hit Gadget, knocking him down instantly. Before Gadget could get up and attack him again, Knuckles, along with Vector, Amy, Shadow and Silver proceeded to hold him back.
“Let go of me, you filthy pieces of garbage!” Gadget snarled as he struggled to break free from their grasps.
Meanwhile, Zelda woke up and looked around, prior to realizing that she was in the Luminous Forest. Just then, the familiar trio of jackals approached her menacingly.
“Okay, who are you people?” Zelda demanded. “And why did you bring me here?”
“Sorry, lady,” Buck replied, “but we brought you here because we’ve been looking for Zero for quite some time, since he sold us out after he got that Phantom Ruby!”
“Yeah,” Resa agreed, “and look where that got us!”
“Shadow killed my wife!” Stone roared in agreement.
“Yeah, and the rest of our squad except the three of us!” Buck agreed as well.
“If not for that fat guy,” Resa hissed, “none of that would’ve happened!”
As the jackals continued to rant about their predicaments, all Zelda could do was sigh in sadness.
“So we need your help,” Buck explained. “Why don’t you help us?”
“Actually, before I answer you, please let me explain,” Zelda said. “I’ve known Shadow for some time and he revealed to me that Zero was, in fact, Infinite now.”
This only caused the jackals to gasp in horror.
“I know this sounds terrible,” Zelda continued, “and even know my family sucked, there was only one member of my family whom I loved and truly cared about. That was my little brother and his name was Oliver. Yes, he was all I had and yet Infinite had to come and kill him as well as the rest of my family! Afterwards, Gadget was the one who helped me give my baby brother a proper burial later that night.”
As Zelda continued her story, the jackals could just look on with sympathetic looks on their faces and tears in their eyes.
“We’re sorry about what happened to you,” Buck said as he proceeded to stroke her hair. Just then, a beeping noise came from her transmitter before a familiar feminine voice was heard.
“Zelda, can you hear me?” Rouge called.
“What’s going on, Rouge?” Zelda asked.
“You’re not going to like this,” Rouge said grimly. “Infinite brainwashed Gadget and forced him to attack us! We’re trying to help him remember the good times that we all had together. We need you here!”
Zelda gasped in horror. She didn’t expect her beloved Gadget to fall victim to Infinite’s mind control.
“Is...that...true?!” Zelda stammered afterwards.
“I’m afraid so,” Rouge admitted.
“Where are you guys?” Zelda squeaked in horror.
“We’re in Sunset Heights,” Rouge replied.
“Okay, I’m on my way!” Zelda said in determination.
After the intercom was finished, Zelda decided that she wasn’t going to let anything bad happen to Gadget. She was ready to rescue him.
“Infinite...brainwashed...your...boyfriend?!” Resa gasped in shock.
“How can we get to Sunset Heights from here!” Stone interjected.
“Don’t worry,” Zelda assured them, “I know how to get there from here. Follow me.”
Meanwhile, most of our heroes were still holding Gadget back. He tried to break free, but luckily, Vector was very strong and so was Knuckles and Shadow combined.
“Now what?” Silver asked.
“All we have to do is make him remember,” Sonic said prior to turning to Gadget, yet again. “Buddy, we know you’re in there somewhere, so we’ll have to jog your memories. Do you remember when I was in my prison cell in the Death Egg and you were out to save me. I broke free myself and that was when we met and ended up saving each other!”
Upon hearing this, Gadget felt a ping inside his head and gritted his teeth in agony.
“Rookie, I know we’ve been so hard on you,” Knuckles admitted. “But we had to be hard on you most of the time! You may not like it, but that’s because...we care about you! We just wanted to make you stronger! We just wanted you to be brave enough to help us save the world!”
“Yeah,” Vector agreed, “and if we didn’t care about you, we wouldn’t have recruited you! We wouldn’t have trained you! And we wouldn’t have sent you to the Death Egg to save Sonic!”
Gadget then groaned as he felt another ping in his head.
“Wha-what’s happening to me?” Gadget hissed in agony.
“I think it’s working,” Tails said.
“Keep going!” Charmy chirped in agreement.
“No! They’re lying!” Infinite shouted in disbelief.
“Don’t listen to him, partner!” Sonic said. “Keep remembering!”
Just then, a familiar female wolf appeared with the three jackals in tow and suddenly gawked at Gadget in horror.
“We’ll hold Infinite off for a long as we can,” Buck said.
“Yeah,” Stone agreed, “you help these do-gooders over there!”
Then as the jackals then proceeded to distract Infinite, Zelda rushed over to the Resistance group, willing to help them restore Gadget’s real memories one and for all. Resa was wielding her sais while Stone was using his tomahawk; Buck, on the other hand, was using his bow and arrows to help fight Infinite.
“Remember when we would prank you with my airhorn in the morning sometimes?” Charmy shouted.
“Yeah, and remember when we saw you and Zelda kissing each other,” Vector asked in agreement, “and we decided to tease you guys for it? It was all in good fun!”
“And remember when you received that box of chocolates,” Silver asked as well, “and I caught you eating the entire box?”
“Yeah, and I had to cancel your mission, let Sonic take over and send you to bed?” Knuckles added.
Gadget continued to groan.
“Gadget,” Zelda said softly. “Please remember that when Infinite killed my brother, you helped me give him a proper burial and supported me afterwards. “Do you also remember when you got caught eating the whole box of chocolates and we had to help you eat a light meal? And then I decided to rub your belly and then we cuddled together and even kissed until we fell asleep together?”
With that, she walked over to Gadget prior to gently pulling his face close to hers and kissed him passionately on the lips. After spending ten seconds struggling to break free, Gadget suddenly gave in and kissed her back, for he couldn’t help but do so. After they eventually broke the kiss, Gadget then collapsed on the ground and writhed in agony, feeling his real memories flood him.
“No! This cannot be!” Infinite roared prior to to getting kicked in the stomach by Resa.
After a few minutes of writhing in agony, Gadget then started to calm down.
“Buddy, are you okay?” Sonic asked as he walked over to Gadget prior to gently stroking his head fur.
“How do you feel?” Zelda asked softly.
“I...feel...calm,” Gadget replied softly. Just then, his amber eyes suddenly regained their pupils and that just happened. He was officially freed from Infinite’s mind control. Then he looked around and then down prior to realizing what he was wearing.
“What am I wearing?” Gadget asked in horror.
“Don’t worry about it,” Sonic reassured. “That masked clown brainwashed you and Dr. Egghead made you wear this.”
“Anyway, we’re glad that you’re back,” Amy said.
With that, Gadget smiled and proceeded to group-hug our heroes. Just then, Shadow broke the hug and noticed the jackals prior to unleashing his Chaos Spear on them, knocking them all down.
“Ugh, that hurts!” Resa cried out.
“What was that for?” Buck yelled.
“Yeah!” Stone shouted in agreement prior to glaring at Shadow. “You monster! Why did you kill my wife?!”
“What is the meaning of this?” Infinite demanded.
Just then, Shadow walked up to them menacingly, knowing what he would do next.
“Well, well, well,” Shadow said menacingly, “looks like we’ll have a lot of explaining to do now.”

The Chaos Warrior - Chaos Blur AU
It was a calm day in planet freedom, people going on with their normal life...as normal as stuff can get on this planet but whatever.
Freedom is a planet brimming with both nature and technology, having wonderful and big natural locations as well as intensively advanced technology.
The two actually coexist, with the technology actually being made to help and enhance nature, making plants last longer and be more alive.
Yeah, Freedom was a great planet for that...shame it doesn’t make up for the danger it poses.
You see, Freedom is a Dangerous with a capital D planet, there’s danger at every turn due to a mad scientist trying to conquer the world, he had managed to almost conquer it and sometimes destroy it in more than one occasion.
Not to mention Freedom is filled to the brim with ancient gods and powerful artifacts that may bring the destruction to the world.
Luckily they all have been saved by a really powerful spiky hero.
Talking about him, the inhabitants of South Island could see a golden streak soar across the air, they wave at it with smiles on their face.
In an destroyed base formerly known as Scrap Brain, the mad scientist know as Eggman amassed a great army of badniks, Metallix and the Egg Destroyer Battlesuit.
“Is everything checked out for?” Said the mad doctor to his two companions:Orbot and Cubot.
“Yes sir, everything is coming together” Said Orbot.
“This time our opponent won’t live to see the sun once again” Cubot’s voice chip was working like crap again, but Eggman was fed up trying to fix it.
“Great, it is time for our glorious return, this time this nasty little sewer rat won’t be able to-”
Eggma stopped his speech when a blue blur tore his robots apart in a matter of milliseconds.
He simply let out a sigh, though this didn’t bother him as much as usual for some reason.
Suddenly a blue hedgehog with emerald green eyes appeared in front of him, he was wearing a black short sleeve undershirt and pants with blue flame motif, a STH logo with a boost cone emblazoned in the chest of his shirt, a emerald green sash over his waist, red and white soap shoes, white gloves and some kind of emerald bracelets that shifted colors in his wrist and ankles, he also seemed to have a bracelet with a jade gem on one of his arms.
The hedgehog gave the mad scientist an annoyed stare.
“What do you want now?” The hedgehog tone let it know that he wasn’t thrilled to see him.
Which was weird to Eggman, since he usually was very fond of taunting him and stroking his own ego...which to be fair, he does often as well.
“What’s up with you today” Asked the fat scientist.
“What’s up? Today is Tails graduation! This is an important time for him and i want to be there for him, i don’t have time to be dealing with you!”
“Yeesh, his graduation, like he won’t have many of those in the future, but i can assure you he won’t have anymore after i conquer this world! AHAHAHAHAHAHAH!”
Sonic rolled his eyes in annoyance.
“Eggman, face it, i can beat you easily on my own, been doing it for years now, and with that shitty half assed army you have there it will be even faster” He had a small smirk “I probably won’t need my trump card” But got serious again.
Eggman got annoyed at this, but surprisingly he wasn’t furious as usual.
“Fine, let’s see how you deal with Metallix!” He send the robot copy of Sonic.
Sonic let out a sigh, he would end this quicker, but considering he took out the weakest and larger part of this shitty army, he decided to play with them a little, at least with this robot.
Metallix started with a punch that was easily catched by Sonic, who then charged his hand with a green light(chaos energy) like with a certain friend of his did and punched Metallix, sending him flying.
Metallix managed to eventually stopped himself but now had one half of his face wrecked, before he could come back to attack he was hit by Sonic again with a kick which send him to the ground, leaving a crater.
Metallix barely managed to dodge Sonic’s spindash which made a bigger crater in the ground, his back has been wrecked by Sonic’s kick which luckily didn’t damage his rocket thruster so he could still move fast to “keep up” with Sonic.
Metallix started charging his plasma blaster from his chest as well as his lightning bolts from his hands, he launched all three at the same time in hope’s he hit Sonic with one of these.
But not any of those hit their target and he was instead wrecked by a kick to the side of his head by the chaos blur.
Metallix ended up crashing into a wall of the former base, once he could actually recover from the attack he saw Sonic spin for a bit before having his hand being charged by chaos energy.
“Chaos Wave!” He shouted before launching a barrage of chaos energy based projectiles at his robot copy.
Metallix quickly set up a shield to block the attack and in effect, managed to absorb most of the damage...but the attack ended doing a lot of damage anyway.
Sonic had to say, this Metallix ended up being very disappointing, he couldn’t even keep up with him in his normal form unlike the last one.
It was a bit weird that Eggman was trying another one of his schemes with this, usually he planned for a long time and came up with schemes that took some time to thwart, this was just pathetic.
It could be a trap though.
Despite that he had a place to be, so let’s finish things now.
“Chaos Boost!” He shouted before being cloaked by a blue aura and shot up to Metallix.
The robot fruitlessly tried to set up a shield, but even then the blow ended up being too strong and did severe damage as well as sending the robot crashing into several walls of the base and end in a pile of rubble.
Seeing his opponent wasn’t getting up, he turned to Eggman.
“Well eggy, seems your little scheme has come to an end, kinda time waster, but guess its par with the course with you nowadays” That was a bit of a lie, since his recent schemes that involved Dark Gaia, Wisp, Time Eater and Zeti put the world in mortal danger, he got his work cut out for him those times.
Not that he ever admit it to Eggy.
Eggman didn’t seem worry he was about to face Sonic despite knowing full well he was gonna lose, he had a few ace under his sleeve.
“I won’t be so sure spikeball, Metallix isn’t down for the count yet”
Sonic wondered what he was talking about before a purple aura with pink lightning came from the direction Metallix was, it blasted the debris away and in a second Metallix hit Sonic with a punch, this time hitting him and doing damage.
Sonic remembered that transformation Metallix obtained when he absorbed the ancient core from Lost Labyrinth all those years ago, it was in a way his own counter to his ability, since he could also access it at will.
There wasn’t an official name for that power up, but everyone settled for Primal form.
Anyways, Primal Metallix was pounding Sonic without a moment of respite, he knew he could easily turn this around if he actually got the opportunity to react, so he keep wailing on him mercilessly.
Eggman seemed...actually surprised about how well Metallix was performing.
“This wasn’t part of the plan but i take it, GO METALLIX! ATTACK AND DON’T LET HIM TRANSFORM! THIS CAN BE YOUR CHANCE!” Yelled the egg scientist.
Metallix keep attacking Sonic, from using ancient lightning, blue electric energy that could be used to make attack...so basically another version of chaos energy, to basic punches, kicks and spindashes.
Then he threw Sonic into the ground and lifted his finger up, creating a massive ball of ancient electricity, which he proceeded to launch at Sonic.
“I can’t believe it, Sonic is about to perish, this moment is finally-”
“Oh no! The unstoppable Sonic, defeated by a mere faker, what a dramatic irony!...Nah, just kidding” Sonic says despite seemingly being trapped by an electric ball of death.
Metallix keeps throwing ancient electric blast making the attack bigger in hopes it kills him, but it was too late as he hears the sound of someone powering up.
“Chaos Deflect!” Sonic yells and suddenly the balls of electricity shots back into Metallix, who takes heavy damage from it.
Then Sonic comes up from the hole he was, this time his appearance changed with his fur being a glowing golden, quills stood up, ruby red eyes, his sash turned ruby red, the blue flames of his outfit now golden, the emerald bracelets now gone, he was somewhat buffer now and had a golden aura with green electricity around himself.
Also he was flying.
This is Super Sonic, a powerful transformation that for most people it would require the seven chaos emeralds to achieve and use.
But for this hedgehog, one accident that happened in his youth (or even younger, nobody knows except maybe him) let him absorb enough energy to use it whenever he wants.
This is Sonic’s trump card in most battles he’s been, allowing him to achieve victory even when it seemed impossible.
Granted, the form could be outmatched at times, but Sonic was skillful enough to find a work around those types of situations.
The super hedgehog locked eyes with Primal Metallix, he knew at this point he was stronger than him and had the advantage once again, so this shouldn’t take long.
They both charged power and go at each other, with Sonic having a clear advantage as he continuously overpowered the robot and knocked it down.
The metal doppelganger tried his damnest to keep up, powering up as high as he could, but it didn’t even matter as he was unable to even hurt him.
You see, Super Forms have this little thing called “Invincibility” which basically makes it so as that a super form can shrug off any hit from people who are weaker or even on the same ballpark than them, it needs to be attacked by a stronger being to get hurt.
Which means that even as hard as he hit him, he wasn’t getting anywhere.
Metallix got furious at his current situation, he wondered why he was so weak now, usually Eggman updates and powers him up with the recent data they collected with Sonic so he could keep up with him, a way to simulate Sonic’s progression in power and prove him wrong in that “Mechs can’t grow”
Yet it seemed that Eggman wasn’t even bothered by it, he just send him with outdated data to fight Sonic, why?!
No matter, the robot was gonna try as hard as he could, it was one of the traits he gained when he was formed by his life data.
His determination.
Pushing his power as far as it could go, Metallix purple aura grew in power alongside his electric sparks, then he seemingly was also surrounded by fire.
This was one of his strongest moves, the V.Maximum Overdrive Attack Consisted on overloading his circuits for a burst in speed and power, a dangerous move.
But he didn’t have anything to lose at this point, his entire body was a wreck now from the constant hits he took from Sonic.
Primal Metallix attacked Super Sonic at speeds that took him by surprise, making him unable to dodge and only seemingly catched him by his hands.
They both crashed to the ground, creating a blinding orange light.
Eggman waited intrigued to see who ended coming on top.
By the time the dust cleared, both fighters were still alive, but one was in clear better condition than the other.
Super Sonic managed to set up a barrier to absorb the damage, he may have a few bruise here and there but nothing noteworthy, while the robot barely had a shape and looked more like floating scrap metal now.
The Super Hedgehog smirked as he saw his opponent clearly unable to even continue fighting anymore, he already had enough game for now.
“Chaos Boom” He said and an pulse of energy with the force of a Sonic Boom threw his opponent far away.
The hedgehog then charged a compressed little ball of chaos energy in his hand and then aimed at Metallix, who somehow managed to get himself up again.
“Chaos Flash!” Shouted Super Sonic and a big beam of energy shot out of his hand that completely swallowed Metallix, erasing him completely.
The hedgehog then turned to Eggman, now he wasn’t even gonna waste time with the old man.
“So Sonic, maybe you can take it easy on me and just leave thi-” He couldn’t even finish his sentence when the Egg Destroyer Battlesuit was destroyed by eye beams from Super Sonic’s eyes.
He wasn’t dead, not because Sonic cared mind you, but because Eggy had a knack for surviving things that would kill anybody else.
Having taken care of his enemy, Sonic took out his phone and checked out the time.
“Kay, i wanna be there as quick as possible so...” He put his phone back into...hammerspace.
“Chaos Control!” He shouted and vanishes in a golden flash.
From the wreckage of his robot Eggman emerged, he dusted himself off and addressed his lackeys.
“Orbot, did you get the new data” Asked Eggman.
“Yes sir, the new data has been downloaded” Said Orbot
“This time, our opponent will be crushed by the unstoppable might of the Eggman Empire, and our dad will finally be able to rule everything with the iron fist he was always destined to have!” Said Cubot.
Eggman smirked for two reasons.
First, his plan was going along.
Two, he finally found a good voice clip for Cubot.
Anyways, time to begin is latest plan in conquest
Codename: “Phantom Victory”
Today in central city elementary school is graduation day, little kids were leaving one part of the life and starting another one: Middle School.
Of course this wasn’t always good, since middle school can be know as one of the most soul sucking phase of one life, alongside high school and when you get a job you don’t like, though that varies from person to person.
There’s also dealing puberty, can’t forget about that.
Miles “Tails The Fox” Prower could be considered a weird case, for starters he was graduating a little earlier than most people, at 11 years old, he could theoretically have graduated much quicker, but there’s a reason for that.
Tails was also formerly one of the heroes of this planet alongside his foster father Sonic, he still attended school during that time and actually managed to blow past kindergarten to elementary school, since back when he wa little he was unable to attend school due to not being allowed due to his two tails and people not liking him.
He was kinda popular, with people constantly asking him about Sonic and even his own adventures, it then got to the point people were interested on him as a person.
He actually managed to get friends his age instead of hanging with teens and adults.
One day however, he stopped going into adventures with Sonic and stopped being a hero.
This was actually a major recurrence with the Freedom Heroes, a lot of them ended up stopping the hero business because of injury, family or personal issues, starting a family of their own, work, studies, personal life or simply moving on or retiring from the hero work.
In the end, Sonic was the last hero, luckily he was strong enough to do it on his own.
Tails stopped because of an injury on his legs...which consisted on losing both of them, he managed to create robotic ones to replace them, but sill.
That day it was agreed with everyone that he would stop being a hero and dedicate himself to his normal life, not wanting his future to be cut short because of the danger, even though he was against it at the start he slowly understood and actually felt ok with his normal life.
He was a little scared at first that everyone in school would hate him or stop liking him because he called quits...but surprisingly everyone still liked him and even was understanding of him.
Afterwards he decided to not blow past school to quickly so he could hang out with his friends, school wasn’t actually hard and he doubted middle school and high school would, he mostly just went there to met with his friends and have what someone could call a normal life.
And today he was going to be graduating.
It’s weird, he’s been in dangerous situations and even faced impossible odds, he was still excited for it.
He kinda wished Sonic was ther-
“Heya buddy”
Tails smiled, he kinda expected it.
“You came” Said Tails.
Sonic grinned, he had completely healed from any injury he may have sustained from Metallix.
“Sorry about taking so long, i stopped to play with Eggy and Metal a bit,but luckily I arrived at time” He said.
Sonic is Tails foster parent taking care of him since he found him as a toddler in West Side Island all those years ago even when he wasn’t even a teen, he took him in to his shitty house which was the best he had at the time, raised him, cooked for him, get him to sleep, taught him to fight and everything a good father does.
At the start he was kinda lax about him going with him at his adventures, having fun and seeing it like a father-son bonding activity, but slowly the danger and close calls made him rethink that until the accident where he lost his legs.
That was one of the scariest moments in his life, from then on Tails quit heroism, but still helped with his smarts by making devices and helping Sonic get a better hang of his powers.
It wasn’t just Tails, various of his friends started quitting for several reasons leaving him as the sole protector of Freedom, except maybe Team Dark and that’s just them joining because they work for GUN.
So it was just him and his super form he could rely on to save the day, but he hanged in and managed to pull that off.
He still keep in touch whenever he could, though he and his friends aren’t as close as they were before.
Friends drift apart, he guessed.
Still, he saved the world, traveled through it, actually had a job and raised Tails, that was basically his life.
Now he had some shit to do, he took out his cellphone to take photos.
“You ready?” Asked the Chaos Blur.
“Yup” Answered the two tailed fox.
The two went in.

a thing about your headcanons that really intrigues me is that, much as Knuckles seems to have originally been done as a contrast or rival to Sonic back in the Genesis days, your take on them has a opposite approach to the responsibility they feel, but done in opposite ways. Sonic runs from responsibility and doesn't want to think about it, while Knuckles feels guilty about NOT being responsible to an extreme, and since people don't often deal with how they're similar, i really like this
Honestly, this is a thread that is not exclusive to Sonic and Knuckles, but actually ties in heavily to a major theme I'm considering and working in Worlds AU.
Basically, "freedom" has always at least nominally been a theme associated with Sonic. It's in his motifs, it's in his attitudes, it's the quality that people tend to envy when they compare themselves to him- whether that's Knuckles who feels bound by fate and obligation, Tails who feels like he might not be enough or can only keep up, Amy who dreads the drudgery of her ordinary life by comparison. Hell, one could say it's even in the many one-off characters who are introduced with Sonic blowing into their life, changing things, inspiring them to grow, and then leaving- Elise, Merlina, Chris Thorndyke, Chip, Shahra.
But it's a theme that's kind of been weakened in the direction that the games took.
In Sonic SatAM, the concept of freedom vs. tyranny was rife in the setting. Robotnik had his boot down on 90% of the world and the remaining pockets are either actively dwindling, or struggling along as best they can through limited resources. All characters are- at any time- in danger of losing specifically their freedom; not their minds, but control of their bodies. And it's a compelling hook.
But the gameverse has very long not been that, and since Sonic Adventure, the world of the games has been very metropolitan. There's a bunch of cities and countries and everybody's going about their daily lives and Eggman's still a wannabe conqueror but he's now become abstracted, a supervillain, who might have this big scheme or that, but- basically until Sonic Forces- we have never had Eggman really decisively in control. And in his absence, there are not really ever any consistent or clear threats to freedom except that, yeah, we guess if we let someone like Solaris or Perfect Chaos or Black Doom run wild long enough that would kill people and then nobody would be free, but... that's an abstract and inelegant way to speak to one of your main center themes.
(and I personally don't like Forces basically trying to reinstate- even if temporarily- the SatAM status quo, even if I think some people like the IDW comics have done interesting things with that, but that's my personal relationship with the character of gameverse Eggman and how I view him distinctly from SatAM Robotnik, as absolutely iconic as the latter is)
I don't think you need an encroaching dystopia per se to make a meaningful discussion out of freedom- I think using the modern gameverse's more colorful, populated world opens up a lot of possibilities for that. So, a major thematic thing I've landed on is that abject tyranny- while the easiest 'threat to freedom' to scan and oppose- and an important one!- is not remotely the only thing that challenges freedom.
A big thing is responsibility.
Responsibility is the thing that most of us sacrifice our freedom to on a daily basis. That may sound dramatic, but it's true; we may have other reasons for it, but we don't just run off somewhere else or go have an adventure or leave our job because we feel responsible to things. And responsibility isn't a bad thing- it's good to feel reliable or trustworthy. If you enjoy your job or your coworkers, you want to do well at it. Having a house is a responsibility, we take care of them. Having a relationship of any kind is a responsibility; so is having kids. If none of us were ever responsible, society would fall apart and we'd all live lonely lives. Moreover, we'd have very little power- ironically a lack of responsibility can lead to a lack of freedom in some regards.
But also, it's very easy to give too much of yourself away and not have any left. I mentioned before that many characters are consistently depicted, across many continuities, idealizing Sonic- because Sonic's free! Sonic doesn't buy groceries or pay taxes or do boring stuff, he certainly isn't stuck in a frustrating or isolating situation, and this can even tie into one of Sonic's major themes- he refuses to be talked into accepting lesser evils.
In Sonic and the Black Knight, Merlina tries to explain to him why she's using Excalibur's scabbard- why she's doing bad things, trying to justify it that she can't just let the kingdom end, even if that means needing to twist it into a horrible place to live- to which she at one point, in frustration, asks if Sonic understands, to which he responds, "No, and I don't want to."
While it's not exactly a perfect moral stance (those don't exist), there is something to be said powerfully for the idea that Sonic as a person has a certain rejection of responsibility as a chain to let bad things happen. He rejects loyalty to a thing that drives you into cruelty.
And this is really interesting, when we consider- specifically in the very first game that featured Shadow and featured him explicitly as a dark antithesis to Sonic- that is exactly what happens to Shadow.
Shadow is not, by default, an amoral person. Pre-trauma, we see that he doesn't want to hurt others, and frankly, as much as "ow the edge" circles (and is somewhat warranted), we can often see that he's standoffish but fairly civil; someone who is dealing with a lot of stresses and problems, but doesn't often relish hurting others unless he's already desperate, frustrated, or looking for an outlet or solution. And in adventure 2, Shadow is led into nearly ending the planet on account of loyalty; to the idea of Maria, to what he believes she asked him to do (and what he believes is owed to the people who killed her)
It's kind of conspicuous that if you think about it, most of Shadow's arcs in various games that focused on him are about questions of what's owed- to him, or to the world. Does he owe a debt to Eggman? Rouge? Black Doom? Gerald? Maria? Does the world owe him a debt of anger and pain to be paid back in vengeance, or, is he the one who owes the world a chance? Does he owe himself a chance? These are questions of Responsibility.
So to bring this back to Sonic and Knuckles, I think that's an interesting context to set them apart, because both of those two definitely have a special relationship with the Chaos Emeralds. Knuckles is the guardian of the shrine that doesn't just have positions for the Master Emerald, but all seven smaller ones as well; and Sonic... well, Sonic consistently and regularly does stuff with the chaos emeralds nobody else does. He transfers super forms to other people, or even awakens them in people who haven't done it before (as implied with Burning Blaze in Sonic Rush). And at least according to Sonic 3&K, his arrival (?) was foretold.
But Sonic... does not feel responsible about the chaos emeralds. If something's happening with them he wants to know but it's about curiosity. When the chaos emeralds are corrupted, tarnished, and lose power, Sonic... juggles them, while he's confused about his own (related) corruption. It's weird, it's concerning, but it's not an obligation. He gets distracted buying ice cream in the same scene.
By contrast, the only time Knuckles feels confident shattering the Master Emerald, it's as an obligation- he has to protect it from Eggman even if it creates more work for himself, and he later freaks out and nearly crashes the shuttle he and others are on when a near-miss scatters the master emerald pieces he's collected across the ARK. I can only imagine half of the plot of Sonic Unleashed would've given Knuckles an ulcer if he'd been around for it. You did what to the Chaos Emeralds, Sonic????
Basically, I think while freedom vs. tyranny is definitely Sonic's brand, you can have a lot more fun and shore up the thematic strength by also factoring in "responsibility" as a secondary theme and this strengthens or illuminates many characters and their arcs.

Blank Space (Sonic Forces Fic)
[first scene is based on this art by @neil-degrasse-china. also, this is AU now yaaaaay]
[[He’s the same, after all this time, and that’s the thing that bothers Gadget the most. ( Infinite’s memory after the Ruby is removed is spotty, and he doesn’t remember the war. At all. Infidget.)]]
Gadget is sitting up in bed, reading through a series of texts in the Sonic/Tails/Amy group message (sans Knuckles because he’s... not in a service zone) with Infinite asleep next to him. It’s strange to be here, back in the apartment, pretending things are normal. Infinite has a bun like he used to, arm stretched above his head, lightly snoring. His chest is Ruby-free but he’s still sleeping like it’s there, like he has to accommodate its hard, pressing edges—arms out of the way, on his back, breathing slowly so as to not upset it.
Of course, he doesn’t remember it, but his body holds the memory somewhere.
Sonic asks, how is he, because Sonic is kind and attentive, notices things others don’t. Gadget squints at the phone because putting on his glasses would be committing to a day he’s not ready to face yet, and the letters appear before him, still fuzzy but there. He wants to say, fine, because that’s the easy answer and he is fine, but he’s also not at the same time. Plus, that’d be cheating. Gadget knows that Sonic, Tails, and Amy want real information.
He still doesn’t remember, he taps out instead, forcing his fingers to find the familiar smoothness of the screen, even after all this time. New phone, same feeling.
Infinite rolls suddenly, throws his arm over Gadget’s middle, makes a tiny snuffling sound, and it’s all so familiar that it almost makes Gadget cry. He’s surprised by it, but he’s also not. His phone falls out of his hand and his other hand falls with it, to grasp Infinite’s arm.
His fingers clutch hard to scarred, thin limb, and it’s like old times. Except it’s not. It can’t be.
+
Infinite’s memory of the war, of the Ruby, doesn’t exist. He showed up at the apartment about a week after it was over, exhausted, confused, and collapsed into Gadget’s arms, sobbing his eyes out. He babbled as Gadget reeled, something about waking up in the woods somewhere, confused, lost, had to find his way home. Luckily, it wasn’t far, just outside the city, and he woke up in a crater, which he didn’t understand; was he abducted by aliens or something?
Gadget could’ve laughed, but he held it in. Yes, you were pretty much were abducted by aliens, he wanted to say, but instead, strangely, he started crying too.
That night was confusing. Gadget took Infinite to the hospital, where the doctor determined that he was dehydrated but not malnourished, hooked him up to an IV, and left them alone. Infinite asked small, probing questions, looking tiny, so small, in the bed, trying to get a grasp on everything. Gadget didn’t know how to answer, so he just made small noises in neither confirmation or denial. It felt a bit like he couldn’t touch the ground, like he was hovering just a few feet above his body, looking down at himself and Infinite.
Infinite doesn’t remember anything from that first day, right before the war. He doesn’t remember Gadget doing well on his final, the Ruby’s slash through the sky, or his decision to go find it. He doesn’t remember the war, the months and months where he reigned terror on the whole planet in Eggman’s name, where he killed— It’s better not to think about that part.
(Was it really him, doing the killing, if the Ruby was in control? Where does the body end and the person begin?)
He treats Gadget like he did before. Tender looks, soft touches, lingering hands, hands on hips. It all feels pastel after the darkness of the war, a thin film that isn’t real with its soft pinks and blues—like valentines and their safety, their canned sayings, their rounded, heart-shaped edges.
+
Gadget makes breakfast at the stove, poking at pancake batter, and Infinite is at the table, sorting through the newspaper. It’s been hard, trying to keep him away from the more dangerous periodicals, the ones that still declare him Public Enemy No. 1, because he loves his news. It calms him, he claims, especially in the morning, but Gadget knows that finding out he hurt so many people would do anything but. The local newspaper is safe enough, but this play won’t last much longer. Infinite is already getting antsy at being cooped up in the house—a farce Gadget cooked up, something something doctor said something something stay indoors—so, Gadget has to make some decisions.
Should Infinite know, and how much? The philosophical issue of the week. Hard answer: yes, and he should know all of it, but slowly, so as to not shock him. Gadget’s preferred answer: yes, but only some of it; he (Gadget) still hasn’t really confronted how much he (Infinite) killed (worldwide citizenry), maimed, and burned. If he can’t reconcile it, how can he expect Infinite to? How can he explain it to Infinite with the delicacy this desperately requires?
“Your glasses are different,” Infinite says as he puts down the paper. “What happened to the rimless ones?”
That’s true enough. Pre-resistance he had different frames, but the battles had required a few sacrifices, starting with his fashionable glasses. He traded them for thick, sturdy ones, ones that clutched close to his head, that they could attach a strap to, pull it tight around his head and ears. Now, after the war, he can’t put the old ones on, because they remind him too much of before.
“I wanted a change,” he answers, instead of all of that. “Don’t you like them?”
Infinite hums and his ears drop in thought. “Yeah, they’re kind of grunge, especially with those new gloves you’re so fond of.”
Gadget looks down at his bare hands, grips the spatula a little tighter, and decides not to answer. Instead, he flips the pancakes and lets the sizzle sit between them.
Infinite sighs and rubs his eyes. “I know there was a war.”
Gadget drops the spatula. It smacks into the pan, clatters to the floor, and he kicks it as he turns. Infinite isn’t looking at him, just above and to the right of him. “How?” Gadget demands.
“I’m not stupid,” Infinite shoots back.
Gadget crosses his arms, sets him with the hardest look he can manage.
“The TV might not work,” Infinite says, indignantly, “but the radio does.”
Of course— Of course it was the radio. Infinite loves that thing, and Gadget hasn’t had the heart to hide it. A grave mistake.
“Not to mention,” Infinite continues, “the city is quiet, and everyone is nice. That only happens after something big. It’s not hard to put together.”
Gadget doesn’t know what to say, can’t say what he needs to say, so he mechanically bends down, picks up the spatula, throws it in the sink, and pulls the pan off the stove. The pancakes aren’t done.
+
That night, they sleep in the same bed, back to back. It was dark when Gadget returned, but he could hear and sense Infinite waiting up for him in bed. The sheets were pooled around his middle, his hair was up, and he was watching, eyes partially glowing in the dark. He didn’t say anything as Gadget climbed under the covers, but he didn’t have to—it was all there, between them, festering and weeping like an open wound.
Gadget wandered off into the city after breakfast. Mainly because he was hungry (they didn’t actually eat at breakfast, just kind of pushed cereal around their bowls and avoided looking at each other), but also because he had to get out. He felt bad leaving Infinite in there alone, knowing that he wouldn’t leave no matter how much he wanted to. He still loved Gadget that much, trusted him that much, that even when they were arguing, he still didn’t want to upset him.
He’s the same, after all this time, and that’s the thing that bothers Gadget the most. He can’t get away from it, how Infinite was pre-Ruby, all softness in the privacy of their apartment, long stares and hard sighs. Gadget, in comparison, is completely different—hardened by war and by loss, by fighting with the person closest to him. And not typical, domestic fighting, not arguing. They battled to the death, on opposite sides of a war, fought at the tipping points. He couldn’t get it out of his head, saw Infinite in his dreams, saw him launching projectiles and teleporting around, kicking everyone like soccer balls. People died— He almost killed Gadget. He can’t just forget that.
He stayed out all day, trying to put all of this into boxes, pack it all up so he could deal with it later. For now, he needed to go back, to the time before, try to understand how the Infinite-of-before would be feeling in this situation. He’s still operating on the Infinite-of-now, the Infinite that Gadget sorta wants to suffer a little, just because of how much he hurt everyone. But, the Infinite-of-before is innocent to all that. He was just trying to do his job before all this started, trying to set his life on track, trying to make sense of the world in his own little way. Gadget can’t fault him for everything that happened in between, not really.
But, eventually, the two must meet. Before and now. It’s just a question of when and how. Gadget has to do it soon.
Or else, Infinite will find out from somewhere else, someone meaner, someone who can only see the worldwide tragedy in its grandness, someone who wants to pin it all on one or two people. Gadget alone can see the tiny tragedy unfolding in his living room, where innocence meets terror, when the past must reconcile the present, and he knows there’s more nuance than just whodunit. Infinite is a casualty in this too, in his own way.
So, he climbs into bed, petrified of the conversation, but he’ll have it if Infinite wants it. They’re both adults; they trust each other endlessly and know how to talk to one another. They can do this if they want.
It’s quiet, barely the whisper of their breaths. The dresser is casting a strange shadow on the wall that Gadget’s never seen before, and he squints at the wall, trying to pinpoint what it is. The same bottles are there, lined up in the same order because Infinite is particular, the same picture frames, the same knick-knacks.
Then, he sees it. The mask. Hard points, lightning bolt eyes, large ears. Gadget sits up, shaking, wants to gag but swallows it down, and he kicks his legs out. He has to get out of here— He can’t— He can’t be here with that thing—
Infinite’s hand snakes around Gadget’s wrist, pulls his whole arm taunt as Gadget tries to pull away. Infinite’s still stronger than him, just barely, but he doesn’t jerk him, pull him, just holds him in place. His hand is hot, brand hot, his fingers tight, and if the color white had a feeling it would be this: those fingers, clutching desperate, searing like plasma.
Gadget turns his head, just there, and can just make out Infinite’s face in the low light. He’s got tears in his eyes and he makes full eye contact, doesn’t hesitate, just lets his eyes draw a parallel line with his arm, right up to Gadget’s face.
“Let go,” Gadget says hollowly, and he can feel the mask staring at him. “Infinite, let me go.”
“I need you,” Infinite whispers. “Gadge... I don’t know...” He looks toward the dresser. “I don’t...”
Gadget pulls and Infinite lets him go. With quick, sure steps, Gadget scoops up the mask without cognizant thought, opens the window, and flings it out. They hear it sail in hyper-detail, hear it land on the street below, where it will be run over by a passing car, then another, then another, eventually become so mangled that no one will recognize it come morning.
+
Gadget finds himself back in bed with his arms wrapped around Infinite’s back. Infinite is crying softly into Gadget’s chest, and Gadget wants nothing more than to pull Infinite into his ribcage to keep him safe from this hard truth, these evil deeds and their reporter-neutral statistics: this many dead, this much property damage, this many injured, this many children parent-less, this many buildings burned, this many lives ruined, this many people who can’t hold those they love like Gadget is holding Infinite, this, this, this...
“I don’t remember,” Infinite whispers so lowly it’s like he’s mouthing it into Gadget’s skin. “I don’t remember any of it. How do you know— What if it wasn’t me? What if they just used me somehow?”
Gadget doesn’t want to say these horrible things to him, but he also doesn’t want to lie to him. Lying would be doing them both a disservice, running from the problems, ignoring everyone who still suffers. “You recognized me.”
Infinite pulls away from Gadget, sits up so he can see him. The fur on his face is stained from his tears, tacky with salt and still slightly wet. “What?” he whispers.
“In one of the battles...” Gadget struggles for words for a second, because suddenly he’s back there. Barrage from above, crawling, speedy robots on the ground, Infinite floating before them, juggling two of his cubes like Baoding balls. Gadget’s battalion, nearly decimated except for Gadget and one other, bleeding out under Gadget’s hands as he tried to CPR breath back into his lungs. Infinite, floating toward them, indifferent toward the dying soldier, eyeing Gadget like he was a familiar landmark, with a detachment that terrified him.
You’re still beautiful, Infinite said as he grabbed Gadget’s chin between his hard, strong, thin fingers. A waste on the resistance. When this is over, I’ll come for you.
He can still feel those fingers on his face. They were like ice, left his face burning from frostbite, and he has to fight to keep himself from flinching.
“You saw me in one of the battles and recognized me. Said my name,” Gadget mutters (lies). It’s better to just keep it simple. Infinite doesn’t need to know this; no one else was there. The soldier died under Gadget’s worried hands after Infinite teleported away, suffocated on the blood filling his lungs. When Gadget got back to headquarters, numb, everyone thought he was shocked by the death, and he was, but there was also Infinite and his darkness. This was his friend... His— His. Infinite used to be his, and now he wasn’t anything Gadget recognized.
“I don’t remember,” Infinite whispers again. “You have to believe me.” He’s pleading, as if Gadget’s belief really matters. Even if he doesn’t believe him (and he does), that won’t change what he did.
“I believe you.”
“It wasn’t me. They were using my body. I’m— I’m terrified of guns.”
Gadget doesn’t want to have this conversation anymore. He nods, because that’s a good way to let someone know you’re listening if you don’t want to say anything, and pulls Infinite back into his chest. Even with all of this, it feels good to hold him again.
+
In Gadget’s defense, it was self-defense.
Dreams are fickle things, but Gadget usually doesn’t let them get to him. This time though, with the stress of rebuilding, the stress of Infinite’s memories (or lack of memories), the stress leftover from the war... just, the stress. With all that stress, this one gets under his skin, lives within him even as he opens his eyes, realizes he’s thrashing but can’t move, something is holding him down, someone—
Mismatched eyes, glowing in the dark, a sharp muzzle, leaning over him with what looks like a smirk, a poisoned grin.
“Get off!” Gadget yells and throws his head forward. It’s a move he learned from Knuckles months ago and he’s never had to use it, mainly because all of his enemies were robots that he destroyed from a distance with a wispon, but he has the muscle memory from practice. He headbutts his attacker hard, smashes the hardest part of his head into the guy’s nose, is satisfied by a crunch.
“Ow, Gadget, what the hell!”
Gadget comes back to himself then, recognizes his bedroom, the familiar lumps of his bed, and Infinite, angled away from him, cradling his face, attempting to mask his bleeding nose.
“Oh, oh Chaos,” Gadget springs up, climbs onto his knees so he can reach for Infinite. He takes Infinite’s head between his palms, moves him so he can see his nose in the low light. It’s twisted out of shape, clearly broken, and he flounders for a second, unsure of what to do. Quietly, gently, he reaches up and brushes his finger over the crushed cartilage.
“Shit! Gadget don’t touch it!”
“Sorry, sorry!” Gadget recoils. “I panicked.”
Infinite is avoiding his gaze and he winces away any time Gadget tries to reach for him again. “Chaos, Gadge, what did the war do to you? You just headbutted me and broke my nose! I was trying to wake you up!”
“I’m sorry,” Gadget whispers, looking down at his own hands. “You reminded me... You reminded me of you... Hovering over me and holding me down.”
Infinite winces, but for a different reason this time. “I didn’t— I didn’t do that to you, did I? During the war...? I-I didn’t hold you down and— Oh Chaos.” He hides his face in his hands, being very careful of his still bleeding nose, and Gadget hears his breath hiccup some, as if he’s going to start crying again.
“No!” Gadget yells, almost impulsively. For a second, he’s back there, back in the war, with Infinite floating above him, grabbing his chin, grinning that sharktoothed grin, and he wants to get away from it, these horrible memories that are creating these horrible dreams, these horrible flashbacks. He just wants to go back to before, when he could trust Infinite without flinching or second guessing, but that’s about as possible as the war being a dream. There will be no going back.
This is their new normal: Gadget with bad dreams, self-defensive attacks, Infinite with broken noses, confused, betrayed expressions, this distance between them that Gadget is clawing at, trying to close. Infinite is exhausted and confused, trying to put together the scattered pieces of the last six months, but he can’t when Gadget is still dealing with it himself.
“No, you didn’t,” Gadget mumbles. He can give Infinite this: reassurance that he was bad, but not that bad. “You didn’t do anything like that. We just... fought.”
Infinite visibly deflates, nose still freely bleeding, and Gadget feels filthy, as if he’ll never be able to get rid of this horrible feeling—that he’s a liar, even though he’s telling the truth.
+
Emergency room again, Infinite’s nose splinted, held together with tape and gauze, a curtain surrounding the bed, Gadget in the visitor’s seat. Silence between them.
Infinite’s nose is numbed; Gadget watched them stick the needle in with blind horror, but he had to watch because of everything that he’d done. He had to stay with him. Still, even after the war, he’s not a fan of needles. He’d been stitched up plenty times, but the needles always got to him. Death robots firing at his face? Piece of cake compared to a needle.
It’s strange, being back here again so soon. People were looking at them, before the curtain was drawn, probably because they knew Eggman’s lackey was a jackal, so every jackal was suspicious. Even the doctor, when he asked why Infinite’s nose was broken, had looked at them with narrow-eyed contempt. Gadget and Infinite had both been quick to say, “Ran into a door,” their agreed upon excuse, and their chorused answer convinced the doctor. He nodded, fixed Infinite up, and told them both to be more careful. He even pulled the curtain as he left, because he could see the eyes too; they weren’t subtle.
“What really happened?” Infinite asks, voice stuffy because of his nose. “During the war?”
Gadget doesn’t want to answer, but he has to. He can feel it, the inevitability, the compelling urge to just get it all out there. Whatever had been holding him back disappeared when his head collided with Infinite’s nose.
So, he tells him. He tells him about how the Ruby took over, how Eggman used its powers to create robots and to destroy everything, capture Sonic, destroy more. How Gadget himself joined the Resistance because there was nothing left, both of the world and of his sense of self, time, and space. It was the only thing he could do, because anger was all he had left—anger and fear.
He tells him how he found Infinite again, how they came face-to-face there, on the battlefield, and how everything had narrowed to just the two of them for a second. How everyone else died around Gadget and he was the only one and Infinite knew it.
How Infinite let him live, how he recognized Gadget, how something cracked then. When he fought Sonic later, and lost, it was the beginning of the end. How things fast-tracked after that, how Infinite went down and disappeared. How Gadget mourned him silently, inconspicuously, even then.
(What he doesn’t tell him: how Infinite grabbed his chin, said those horrible things to him. How Gadget half-wished, in that moment, that Infinite had killed him, because at least then he wouldn’t have to see it anymore—wouldn’t have to see Infinite, so corrupt and unrecognizable.)
+
The next afternoon they’re at home. It’s quiet, but a comfortable quiet. Infinite is sitting by the radio, large ear piqued to listen to the news. Gadget is scrubbing the floors because cleaning helps him forcefully forget things. They haven’t talked much since the hospital. Infinite took it all in with downcast eyes and ears, fiddling with the threads of the hospital blanket. They slept together in bed, back to back, but didn’t say anything, didn’t touch beyond their spines, slotting together like puzzle pieces.
Now though, Infinite mumbles, “I’m sorry,” to Gadget’s bent back. Gadget freezes, looks up, drops the mop.
“For what?”
“For not remembering.”
Gadget’s brow furrows, and Infinite thinks he’s cute, thinks that if things were different, he would stand, scoop Gadget up and swing him around because he can. But, things aren’t different, and he’s glued to the seat, trapped by his own fear and the giant hole in his memory.
“That’s not your fault,” Gadget answers, mystified.
Infinite shrugs, looks up into Gadget’s face, ignores the flinch when Gadget makes eye contact (and how long until that ends? until Gadget learns to trust him again?), and mutters, “Maybe not, but if I could remember, then I could apologize for what I did.”
Gadget’s brow clears up, his eyebrows rise, and he makes a small ah sound. With barely a whisper of his bare feet on the tile, he ghosts toward Infinite. Gently, he places his hands on Infinite’s shoulders and bends so that they’re on the same level. “It wasn’t really you,” Gadget says. “We’ve talked about this. It wasn’t really you.”
Infinite can’t say what he means, not really. He wants to say I’m sorry for not being in control. I’m sorry for giving in. I’m sorry for not being strong enough. I’m sorry for not loving you enough, you and this world that you live in. I’m sorry for letting something so evil poison me. But he can’t; he doesn’t have the words. So, he just says, “I’m sorry.”
Gadget sighs, picks Infinite’s chin up with a gentle hand, and holds him there, fingers around his jaw. “Listen to me, there’s nothing to forgive. It wasn’t you. I’ll have some nightmares and sometimes, from the wrong angle, I won’t recognize you, but that’s not your fault. Don’t beat yourself up over something you can’t help.”
Infinite wants to argue, but Gadget looks so serious, so earnest, that he can’t. His breath catches as he watches Gadget watch him, trying to find a crack in Infinite’s face, and all Infinite can do is nod. He wants nothing more than to give Gadget exactly what he wants, after everything he’s done to him.
“Good.” Gadget lets go and rises. He turns on his heel and goes back to the mopping, cleaning up after their messes like always.
