The thing thats consistently bothered me the most in the fallout show is the racism. I would hesitate to recommend it because of that alone. And there was obvious love that the set and prop designers, actors, costume department, and even maybe the writers put into the show! There are themes and characters in fallout that i'm certain would resonate with fans of color!
It KILLS me that so many of the fallout entries are damn well unplayable/watchable in this regard because the writers simply Don't Care how the people in their work are presented. That this like hugely popular world with a lot of worldbuilding and thought behind it does such wrong to so many people, fans and otherwise, that you cannot find any game in the series that does it right or well. It alienates a lot of people who might've been fans just because the majority white creators and fanbase don't give a shit, and I'm sick of it.
it's not enough to say "in the fallout in my head that racism doesn't happen," you actually have to put some things into PRACTICE. Allow space in your head, your games/show, your fan spaces for people of color! notice and say something when you see racism coming from media, yourself, and others!

Hob was taping cables to the floor, the first time he saw him.
The bassist for Endless, the local rock band who was set to open the show in about 20 minutes. Hob didn’t know his name– had only learned the opening band’s name hours ago– but his presence was striking. The man was tall, rail thin, and pale as a ghost. He was a stark contrast to their lead singer, who’s name Hob also for the life of him couldn’t be bothered to learn, an adrogenous presentation of ruby red lipstick, fishnets under a deep v-line leotard and platinum blond hair that left a trail of glitter wherever they walked.
The bassist, by contrast, looked better suited in an emo punk band, not the glam rock that Hob could only assume was the genre of Endless. He wore black on black on black, all the way to the top of his spidery head of hair. None of that caught Hob’s attention though. What made him hesitate, a piece of tape still stuck between his teeth, was the pale man’s unbelievably blue eyes, visible even under the dim lights of the backstage.
And those eyes had flicked down to him, briefly, but still long enough to give Hob pause. It was startling, his gaze, and not just because he wore no other color. It struck Hob down, pinned him to the floor, commanding but also curious, analytical. The bassist walked past him, taking his fixed stare elsewhere, leaving Hob to shake himself out of it, spitting the tape out and physically focusing his attention back to his work.

it is so insanely frustrating for me to be the only person working who has an ounce of Disaster Thinking because it means I'm the only person who says "hey, this has a possibility of not going well, we should be ready for that" and get dismissed out of hand because I'm thinking too hard about things. And then that eventuality HAPPENS and everyone's like oh no how unfortunate. Yeah if only someone saw that coming and proposed a solution beforehand.

I know there’s been surveys or other posts asking about the inspiration for blog titles…
but does anyone else have a title that has deep meaning to them?
my main’s isn’t that deeply meaningful but I did decide on it for a few reasons:
1. シンゴペーション or Shingopation is the name of one of Shingo’s songs…which should be enough said cuz cute but…
2. Shingopation was the first SMAP (…SMAP-adjacent…) song that earned a spot on “What’s Alex overplaying?”
3. For some reason, syncopation is probably one of my most favorite words becsuse of how satisfying it is to say… “sin-co-pay-shun”
I don’t know it’s always made my brain happy since I heard Selena Gomez use “syncopate” in Good for You which is still kind of a bop?!
—
my sideblog’s though…
朝が来る or Asa ga Kuru (“morning will come”) is from one of Takuya’s songs and it had such a profound effect when I first heard it…and honestly continues to have one
long story short, there’s a reason why Karei naru Ichizoku is probably always going to be one of the greatest pieces of media I’ve ever watched (and why I really, really recommend watching it)
even if you feel like it’s impossible to get back up…morning will come again…
…morning will wait for you…
(by the way, as far as I’m aware the song doesn’t [intentionally] have this meaning but the lyrics really spin it that direction unless you take them literally)
