Omfg he IS Daffy. Like. If we want to get into specifics…Wade’s entire life is that episode where Daffy keeps trying to play out the scene and the “animator” keeps drawing new ways to fuck up the scene. And after you’re certain Daffy has lost the tiny semblance of the sanity he had left, you pan out and it’s just Bugs in the animation studio closing the book on Daffy.

Oh man that tracks on so many levels. Especially the power exchange when Peter takes on the Daffy role and Wade gets to be Bugs. Even down to how Bugs dresses in drag, typically leaving Daffy to fend for himself in terms of the antagonist. When Wade dresses in drag or even simply wears a dress, even when Peter enjoys it he’s usually left to fend for himself against his biggest foe: his gender and sexuality.

Now I have to know…do you think Peter can get to a point where he’s taking up the Bugs role from time to time, or is he an eternal Daffy?

P.S.: Daffy is my FAVORITE.

i LOVE daffy, he's one of my favourite characters in fiction ever. and i've always said it, wade is very daffy duck coded.

wise guy ✅ funny way of talkin' ✅ ability to break the fourth wall ✅ tortured by the narrator ✅ mad about it ✅

even the kind of performative humour that's signature to looney tunes is hardwired into wade. the way he talks in early comics - even his debut series every issue is themed to ducks. i think it's all very intentional he's always meant to have been a looney tunes-esque figure, and that's the way he chooses to perform.

i was a looney tunes girlie growing up (my favourite) and watched looney tunes cartoons religiously and so SO much of my humour came from those cartoons and feeds into how i write wade (daffy and bugs are both like, the biggest inspirations for the way i write wade, no doubt. no doubt. i don't even know if i can point to any other characters as inspiration, save for wade himself.)

i'll squeeze in a clip from duck amuck (my favourite piece of media like, ever created ever.) please seek out the whole cartoon if you haven't - i really think it's one of the greatest cartoons ever made.

bugs and daffy's dynamic (especially in later content of them, where they're cosier and more self-aware) is a huge inspiration too - an odd couple that kind of hates each other because they're always, always diametrically opposed but kind of know each other so well and know each other's BIT so well that when they have each other's interests at heart and work together they are The Ultimate Duo with like, the most fire chemistry you've ever seen. the most unstoppable banter you've ever seen. when they're in a room together, absolutely no one else can get a word in. obsessed with that dynamic.

wade and peter are very bugs and daffy coded but it's dealers choice who gets to be bugs and who gets to be daffy. they're switches. i think it's all about who has the upper hand in the scenario - bugs usually has a confidence in a situation that comes from him knowing something daffy doesn't - (ergo, wade is usually the bugs. because he usually knows something peter doesn't.)

but... buuuuut, it's not always the case - and wade doesn't always have the upper hand when it comes to his dynamic with peter - particularly when he's feeling emotionally vulnerable. peter can handle those situations better than wade does. those moments, regrettably - happen more often in the fics than on the blog, because it usually happens when their clothes are off. (oops.)

wade's daffy moments happen when he's Not the smartest guy in the room, or things don't work out in his favour or he's not in control of the situation and he's being dramatic about it.

in those moments, peter gets to be the bugs. the level-headed guy who's in charge of the situation. i hope he gets more moments like that. because it's kind of insane that wade's usually the sane one here. and he needs to be dethroned.

peter needs more bugs bunny moments - and though i'm not sure when - olive and anita's warring divas dynamic fits the bugs and daffy model with so much more ferocity. they will be dropping pianos on each other. and you can guess who gets to be the bugs.

we're all hung up over the ending so here's some limoreau au ideas super long post tho

royalty au - there's already one of these on ao3, where marie is a princess and jordan is a heir to a company. absolutely a banger, hope to see more of this au from other people but also from the creator themselves (the more we lie (the more we love) by secretshare is the au)

spiderman au - i'm gonna need someone to hear me out on this one. hear me out. jordan, born male, out of nowhere develops superpowers after being bitten by a radioactive spider. now, they have to figure out and balance their new powers - which aside from invincibility, waves, and like spider shit also includes gender shifting and they have to confront and navigate with their parents the identity that their parents didn't wanna face because it's become increasingly real. and this to me is like mcu ish. anyways, they also have to uh navigate their crush on marie moreau (gwen stacy of the world). hear me out.

rival TAs au - bringing this one back from my last post, jordan as brink's TA, they're a 3rd year ranked number two. but there's a professor that brink works closely with who just chose their new TA, it's the 1st year that jordan's been in hot water with marie moreau who is everything jordan hates. if jordan is a hard worker, who takes their time, marie is a genius who gets what she wants just because she's a genius. there's a rivalry but they're forced to work together when their professors start... look i don't have a justification as to why but they just do.

period piece au - i'm talking bridgerton, little women, pride and prejudice. rivalry, enemies, tension but forced to keep the tension under wraps and present a united and kind front but everyone knows they hate each other. the sexual tension of it all. lingering glances, fleeting touches. it is perfect for a couple like marie and jordan who love having a stupid big brown eyes off every episode every possible second

debate club au - look i was the HS debate captain i'm in college debate you have to hear me out . jordan as the captain of the team, marie as the new student who's a prodigy, rising star- she's a genius who's quickly put herself on par with the best team in the club. and now for nationals, the coaches put her and jordan together. the tension, the proximity, the trust, and the communication. whispers in hallways, cheering when they place first, the tension of finals. cuhrazy stuff.

figure skating au - OKAY ALL OF THIS IS LOWKEY STARTING TO SOUND THE SAME BUT IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS BUT STILL. the tension. jordan just lost their partner after a life changing injury, their coach pulls up with new star marie moreau who was beginning to dominate the solo scene but out of nowhere dropped out and now she's going duo with jordan li how mysterious. the training, the hands, the stunts, THE PROXIMITY. (my favorite word today) the anger and the arguments when they mess it up, but the fear when it seems like something bad happened. imagine both of them on the jumbotron thingy bracing for their score and it like breaks a record i mean. think about it. this is growing to be a fave.

hockey/figure skater au - jordan is a hockey player, jordan needs to be more precise, more agile. their coach talks to the figure skating rink coach and gets a tutor for jordan, marie moreau figure skater. i will not elaborate, i do not need to- mostly because it's the same shit i mentioned before but slightly different but Still.

volleyball au - if you have amazon prime, you have access to cinemalaya's rookie which is a Filipino indie film about a junior basketball player who moves to a new catholic all girls school and starts playing volleyball (because there's no girls basketball team), she falls in love with the team captain, who hates her sm. it's so fucking good, now imagine it as limoreau. imagine jordan li as the team captain who has to take care of this new member, marie who yeah she's tall and she has like whatever basics but she sucks at volleyball and for some reason is so out of it. plus plus plus volleyball tension, the other couple that gives a constant big brown eyes off is ace and jana.

gossip girl au - another hear me out, marie who's always lives her life in lowerclass new york as an orphan is adopted by victoria newman and now has to navigate life in a new school with upperclass new yorkers. she's thrown into the midst of it all and has to deal with being a fish out of water plus jordan being like wary of her. andre brings her into the group after she saves him from a tough situation with a teacher or a quiz, cate and emma are so down to welcome another girl, luke has a nice heart to heart with her and welcomes her in, and if luke and emma let her in, sam is down, but jordan- jordan is the only one who doesn't want her there and she doesn't know why. look i just watched only 1 season of gossip girl i do not know shit but still

Rebels Rewatch: "Stealth Strike"

In which, Character Development! and other exciting features.

I mentioned the husband loves Star Wars ships right? This is another one of his favorite episodes, he loooves the Interdictor class.

Always liked this little musical flare at the beginning, already conveys a sense of urgency and danger.

Sato sounds so aggrieved that he has to have Ezra along, lol.

I mean from his perspective Ezra's just an overconfident plucky kid, he hasn't been around Ezra long enough to know how competent the boy is.

Love the staggered Force Theme prelude in the strings there, all broken up and disjointed. Once again Ezra is sensing impending danger.

Still adore the kaleidoscope color effect Rebels uses to mark being forcibly ejected/yanked from hyperspace.

Bbbyyyyyyyy. :((((

Worried Spacefamily be worried.

Hera wisely understands that the best way to infiltrate a top-secret Imperial project is to keep the aliens off the mission lol.

Kanan is being predictably petty about having to work with Rex.

"I sent Ezra... this is the only way." Ouch. I bet Hera is feeling pretty guilty and has thought a lot about this since they learned about it, so you know she's run it through a million times in her head. Probably why Kanan acquiesces to her judgment.

I wanna know the thought process behind the Imps' decision to haul Ezra and Sato in to see Titus. Like, Sato I get, he's the obvious commander of the unit but I wanna know which trooper saw Ezra and was like, "Hmm, he seems Plot Important, I better drag him along too."

Sato still very much Not Impressed with Ezra's posturing.

It's hilarious that Ezra's sarcastically used "Jabba the Hutt" so often it's been logged as a known alias of his lololol.

The Giligan Cut between Rex complaining that he'd never wear Stormtrooper armor and Zeb bringing them unconscious troopers to steal the armor from. <3

"I thought it was the same one we used before." LOL. Okay, I gotta stop before I quote every line in this episode.

Can't help it, it's just so fun.

We cut to the shuttle mid-hyperspace and Rex and Kanan are still bickering, but even in the middle of that we get some lovely worried Papa Wolf Kanan hyperfocusing on Ezra as his priority.

I swear it was explained somewhere what the specific codes Rex gives meant but I can't for the life of me remember where now. Pretty sure one of them meant the shuttle was going to explode? Anyway...

Rex seems like he's having just a grand old time. This must feel just like the old days for him.

Lol Kallus getting excited about Ezra's capture and warning Titus "[...]do not underestimate that boy." He knows firsthand how much of a threat and nuisance Ezra can be.

A little variation on the Death Star theme here, kind of appropriate given this is a very similar-feeling kind of infiltration and rescue.

Maybe that's why I like this episode so much, has a lot of A New Hope vibes.

Subtle animation appreciation moment: Chopper's legs jerking as he rolls over the hump in the doorway.

The ANH vibes continue with this turbolift scene, which is just hilarious. From Rex not knowing which button to push to the Imperial officer snarking at our hero duo, it's just... *chef's kiss*

They are a disaster pair and I just love them.

Cut to the troopers that are escorting Ezra to his "secure cell" and I'm sorry, I adore this whole sequence. Ezra being a little hyper-competent badass is my whole jam, okay?

This is so clever. <3333

Ezra makes very short work of his guards, without really hurting them (something that would contrast in S3 after the whole Malachor Loss-Of-Innocence thing) and then immediately shoots his intended rescue party lololol.

I love how smoothly he moves through this whole scene. He's obviously been practicing and of course the Force operates on a principal of "the more at peace and in tune you are with yourself, the greater strength you can channel" so after his whole soul-searching in "Brothers of the Broken Horn" deal he's come to some kind of serenity within himself that lets him be just super awesome here. Love it.

Kanan reluctant to split up from Ezra, aww.

Subtle animation appreciation moment: The way Ezra raises his hands in aggravation when Kanan and Rex get into it again.

Ezra finally chews the two of them out for all their bickering and takes charge of the mission and you can't even tell me he didn't make Kanan just a smidge proud, with that comment about how, "He takes after Hera sometimes." <3333

No but seriously, fandom of course loves Kanan and Ezra's whole "like my father before me" vibe but let's not forget how it was Hera who first took a shine to him, who saw potential in him, who knew that he wasn't as selfish as he pretended he was, drew out that inner spark of compulsive compassion planted by his parents and has been influencing him on the Rebellion side of things to complement Kanan's Jedi teaching.

Brom Titus looking a little less confident now that the scrawny fifteen-year-old he was specifically cautioned not to underestimate has given them the slip lol.

*cries* He was so TINY!

Very glad Ezra learned binary, it enables hilarious conversations like this.

This is yet another music cue recycled from the Death Star sequence in A New Hope. Like I said, they're really leaning into that this episode.

Sato all ready to square up with this random trooper until he sees it's Kanan.

And his anxious worry over Ezra's welfare is really sweet. Sato does care, he might find Ezra bit aggravating but he's still just a kid in Sato's eyes, someone who was under his protection. (One wonders if Ezra reminds him of Mart a bit.) It's not Sato's fault he's only now learning what a precocious badass Ezra is lol.

This move of Kanan and Rex's is slick.

I've been told this horn cue is Rex's theme. Makes sense.

Heeeeey remember what I said about Rex's deathseeker tendencies? Yeah.

Subtle animation appreciation moment: The drifting smoke in the hallway from the firefight holy cow. Attention to detail.

The dolly shots this episode are tight.

Aaaaaaaand Chopper just scored the highest body count on the show, lol. (Up until the finale anyway with the Dome explosion and the purrgil-ening.)

My gosh this show even makes total destruction look pretty.

Yeah, getting a top-secret Interdictor prototype imploded is pretty demotion worthy ha ha.

Love how Kallus is basically perfectly fine assigning all of that chaos to Ezra in particular. XD

KANAN SALUTING REX NOT ONLY AS A SIGN OF FINALLY BURYING THE HATCHET BUT ALSO TAKING UP THE MANTLE OF SOLDIER HE WAS SO RELUCTANT TO AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON.

This is one of the best episodes of the season, no joke. It's fun, it brings the nostalgia without being kitschy, it lets Ezra and Sato have a little bit of nice interaction (underrated relationship, fanficers have let me down), it shows how Ezra's developing in combat, it finishes the whole Rex and Kanan animosity plot, and Chopper murders three whole Imperial cruisers effortlessly.

Love it.

Betty is so special and important to me!! She's one of my most favorite characters ever and I love how 13 years after the series finale, she hasn't been forgotten about. 🥺🥹😭🤧💗💓💞

I adore Betty Suarez & Co. I do a series rewatch every year, it’s my favorite comfort show. It was canceled prematurely, and I'm still waiting for my Ugly Betty reunion movie.

I've been a huge fan of America Ferrera since "Real Women Have Curves," but Betty Suarez is my ultimate favorite of her roles. Like you, Betty is just so special to me. I'm always telling people to watch the show (many mutuals on Tumblr will attest to this 😂). I talk about the show so much you'd think it was still airing. I started a new job five months ago, and just last week, I was having lunch with one of my new colleagues, and she saw my Ugly Betty Pop figure on my desk (I commissioned it, and it's one of the best gifts I've ever given myself tbh). When she saw it, we spent half of our lunch discussing our favorite scenes. Ugly Betty is essentially my friendship litmus test lol.

Betty is my favorite fictional character of all time, no contest. But I also want to shout out the ensemble because WOW. The entire cast was incredible and hilarious. The show was a true dramedy; I was often in tears, either from laughter or an emotional storyline. Judith Light AND Vanessa Williams? ICONS. Michael Urie and Becki Newton? What a DYNAMIC DUO. Ana Ortiz and Mark Indelicato? PERFECTION. Eric Mabius? The TALENT. Daniel could have easily been such a vacuous character, but Eric gave him a depth that surprised me. Plus, his chemistry with America?? EPIC. I loved Betty and Daniel so much (shout out to the bridge scene in 1x13!).

I often wonder how unhinged I would have been if Tumblr had existed when the show was airing. My enthusiasm over your ask indicates that I would have been absolutely bonkers and loved every minute of it. 😆

If you're interested, this is my favorite Detty fanvid edit and my favorite Detty article. I loved their friendship through season 3 and didn't ship them romantically until about season 4. While watching the ATX reunion panel in 2016, I realized that Eric was also Team Detty, and I so wish we could have seen what happened next!

Anywho, I've rambled enough lol. Thank you so much for giving me a reason to shout about my all-time favorite character/show!! 😁💜

NOTHING Could have prepared me for Season 5 alright

I'm gathering my thoughts over what happened and what I expected to happen

They do not match in the slightest bit

I for one was convinced that this could be the last season, and by that means, Kaelat would have a lot more stuff and probably a Ursula reveal, Oh and I also some lil things about Mr Cat past !

But I didn't except the BEAUTIFUL AND MY FAVORITE rollercoaster of s5 that happened between Kaeloo and Bad Kaeloo

HOW COULD I PREPARE FOR THIS? Sure I had a lot of positive thoughts about their duo and imagined many things but then again I thought that my ideas weren't realistic because their relationship seemed so complicated, that the nice moment between them couldnt just change how much difficult it is and therefore seeing them as nice buds wasn't right

BUT WELP THERE WE GO, IT HAPPENED.

I could not be more happy and glad about it, I always loved Kaeloo JUST as much as Bad Kaeloo

I'm not joking, If you ask me to choose between them, I could legally not.

So these two established many things, so that Bad K is more included in the friendgroup. They both communicate a lot more, DAILY! IT'S AWESOME! They tell each others how they feel, honestly apologize and help.

While in the other seasons, them talking always resulted as. Well, screamings

BUUT IM NOT FORGETTING WHAT HAPPENED IN THE EPISODE "Let's Play alone" AND "Let's Play To win" THEY WERE AMAZING

Altough In the episode "Let's play alone" When Bad K first suggested to play with her, Kaeloo was immediatly against the idea of playing with a brute Who breaks anything that moves and doesnt move.

But she ends up playing with him!

And in the newest seasons them switching who plays are more often!

Kaeloo realized that she doesn't need to get fixed with therapy to get rid of Bad K,

that they both need to recognize each others as the same individual.

And now there it goes! They're sharing a lot of talks daily, appreciate each others company.

Bad Kaeloo always defended Kaeloo EVERY TIME.

whenever someone degrates her. He gets mad on her behalf

AND DON'T HESITATE TO JUMP AT THE IDEA OF BEATING UP A 5 YEARS OLD

3-4-ish months later

"On air now, your favorite RJ duo is back," your voice carries throughout the campus, ringing with joy. "Coming live to you from the radio room, it's your very own Yeonjun and Y/N!," the man sitting in front of you follows your lead, his hand squeezing yours as it rests on the desk. "I think he means to say Y/N and Yeonjun," you retort, laughing when he fails to come up with a decent reply and instead chooses to let out gurgled sounds into his mic.

It takes you a minute to calm down, but as you do, Yeonjun takes it upon himself to welcome everyone. "We're here again for our Fall semester," he smiles while saying, eyes crinkling up at his next words. "And I want to properly greet every single one of you as my last semester on this campus begins."

He's going to be graduating in a matter of less than six months, and while the thought of having to spend a whole year without him there to support you through the mess of being a student is bothersome, you can't quite bring yourself to wallow in your sadness, choosing to focus on the future that seems brighter. That's what you're thinking when he says something that makes you whirl your face towards him, eyes narrowed.

"So that's the reason why I pitched in the idea for this brand-new evening show, alongside my lovely partner, both personally and...professionally? Is that the word for what we're doing right now? Y/N," Yeonjun's clear voice declares, and while you feel butterflies erupt in your stomach at seeing him address your relationship publicly, you're more occupied fighting an important fight.

"I'd like to thank my adorable boyfriend for introducing me so well, but more importantly, I'd like to press charges on him for stealing my credit! Matters of the Heart was totally my idea!," you all but whine, hitting Yeonjun's arm while the both you erupt into laughter. "And that reminds me, this new show is called Matters of the Heart!," he announces, before launching into an explanation about how he (and your "undying love" for him) was the reason you got that idea in the first place.

And just like that, chaos ensues again, but this time, you manage to throw in a sensible introduction to your new feature. "We're here to give you advice on your love life, listen to you pine about your crush being stupid," "Because let's face it, our crushes somehow always are stupid," (Smack from Yeonjun), "And help you confess in front of the whole campus, if you're down for it."

"We're gonna be here for the next six months, and we intend to be the storytellers of many beautiful love stories, starting today," you say in a sing-song voice, a perennial smile plastered to your face. "So don't be chicken, let us know what's bothering you romance and we'll be more than happy happy to help, Yeonjun quips, looking over to you as you open your mouth just as he does too. "Because speaking from our personal experience, romance without guidance from a third person is like digging your own grave."

And so the hour-long show goes by, with the two of you reading the flurry of comments and messages left under the Twitter handle of your radio, and filling your listeners in on the news that Beomgyu and Yena will be "shaking 'em up" now, and that Taehyun and Kai are still going strong in the afternoon. "And Soobin will continue to be our support system, at least until Beomgyu's weird antics make him decide to quit," Yeonjun chuckles next to you, only to have you greet him with a very heated comment from none other than Beomgyu himself.

By the time you sign off, the smiles on both your faces are wider than ever, your hands intertwined as you exit the room for the day. Obviously you can't see me rn but I am smiling so big omggggg

I guess as a brief introduction I do some bullet points and then give you some songs to check out!

They go by TVXQ for the most part, but you'll also see their Japanese name, Tohoshinki, and their Korean name Dong Bang Shin Ki (DBSK). All translate to roughly Rising Gods of the East.

They debuted in 2003 as a 5 member group, and 3 of them left in 2010. Anything from before 2010 you come across will have the 5 voices. Yunho and Changmin stayed as TVXQ and "re-debuted" in 2011.

Personally I think it is totally worth it to listen to the old stuff. I don't think there ever was and ever will be a phenomenon like TVXQ/DBSK as a group of 5, and their korean and japanese songs and ballads are mind blowing.

That being said, I stuck with Yunho and Changmin more than the others after college (funnily I was introduced to them just as they were breaking up), and consider them to be the true TVXQ. They worked insanely hard to make TVXQ theirs and their vocals and talent have grown so, so much to fill in the voices that left.

So some song recs! I'll stick to the Korean songs for now, but their Japanese catalogue is NUTS. I think at this point they have more Japanese songs tbh.

Mirotic Rising Sun Love in the Ice (this one makes me cry every time, especially the re-arranged duo version since they cover all the voices so beautifully)

Chocolate (he can cut it out, quite frankly) Maniac (so theatrical, so musical, so AHHH. I think this is my fave of his solos) Fever (I lost my ever loving mind when I saw this for the first time. Face clutching ensued.)

Picking 3 for each of them was incredibly difficult omg. I'm excited for your thoughts! Completely understandable if you don't go through all of them, but these are some personal faves.

Finally, they just did a Killing Voice episode where they do a half hour medley of a ton of songs if you prefer to sample them that way! This is where the mirotic clip I reblogged is from :D

Their new album just came out and is called 20&2 if you want to take a listen. It's their first Korean comeback is 2018 so we've all been feral lately.

And I'm loving so much the episodes Madison is uploading via tiktok about each of their songs... I like them so much that I wish they were longer videos where they talked more about the meanings of the songs, how the process went, parts of the demo.... And then there are the new snippets, which every time I see the release I literally squeal with excitement . I'M CLAIMING "NOTHIN MATTERS BUT YOU" VERY STRONGLY, already the title of the song had enchanted me and it was one of the songs I was claiming but after listening to the snippet I'm in love, I find it very magical like from another galaxy. And then there's Ryder, which is going to be PRECIOUS and I'm also looking forward to listening to it, especially because I'm also the older sister and I know I'm going to feel identified. I wonder I liked it too but not as much as the others, although I like the sixties vibes it has and then I'm also very excited about At your worst, I think it's going to be a deep song to listen to while you have a handkerchief in your hand. Honestly my favorite AU for just about anything is ABO universe. I'm a slut for that shit especially for an Omega Jason that will still rip you're head off no matter what you present as and turns the stereotype of omega on his head and Alpha Salim being absolutely enamored by it lol

I also like a good medieval fantasy AU with knight Jason and Dragon Salim along with knight Nick and King Queen Eric and Rachel because DUH. I'm planning on writing this AU someday because why the fuck not right? Kinda got a basic idea for it and everything! XD I like Mermaid AU's as well either one human one mermaid or both mermaids I don't really have a preference. I just love me fantasy AU's

For headcanons

*As much as I like instant bond between Zain and Jason I think it would take awhile for Zain to be really comfortable and trusting but I like the thought of Jason busting his ass to try and get Zains approval and when he finally gets it that's when all hell breaks loose and the chaos father son duo is born!

*Eric is also so guilty of the events of HoA that he personally goes to the houses of the fallen to deliver the news and to take responsibility. One family member physically lashed out at him and he told the men who accompanied him to back off because he believes he deserves it.

*Also got a fic along with this headcanon that Jason and Eric have a terrible relationship even though Eric is dating Nick and Rachel, Nick tells it to not let it get to him but Eric confronts Jason about it and it turns into a screaming match of Jason blaming Eric for every death that happened as well as his anger towards Eric telling him to leave Salim behind until Eric literally breaks down about his deep guilt about surviving and tells Jason about apologizing to the family's and even his guilt about being happy and how much he could take back what he said about Salim because Salim is a good man and never made him feel unwanted even though he has the right to. And just Jason is so shocked and his anger in the moment slowly melts away. He's still angry it's hard for that to go away completely but he now understand Eric a lot more and they build a better friendship from that I just really love Eric and he deserved a redemption!!! *Body slams a table*

*Nick and Jason are gossip bitches. Anything that happens in their life along with anyone else's life they get on the phone or meet and person for a beer and gossip like a bunch teenagers.

*Rachel is always gonna be a boss ass bitch and she continues to show it in public but with Eric and Nick alone she's so fucking SOFT with them giving them sweet kisses asking how their day went cuddling up to them when they are having a bad day or just sitting next to Eric when he's having an episode and not wanting to be touched but just letting her presence be known. But if she don't know you it's resting bitch face, she's definitely a "he didn't ask for pickles on his hamburger" kinda lover lol

Sadly I don't really have anything for Clarice, Merwin, or Joey I didn't really get to attached to them when playing I did like the main cast :/

HI sorry i was in internet hiding for a few days but ooh thank you for the ask!! 💚 fair warning i am going to really struggle making choices here lol, apologies in advance 😂

favorite male character: can't tell if this is supposed to be in terms of canon writing or personal attachment and/or if i'm allowed to pick the Doctor--it's no secret that i really like Rory, but i'm also pretty vocal about how i feel about canon characterizations of that era (ha... haha... /sigh). i also really like Jack's character but full disclosure in that i haven't seen Torchwood so?; i just feel like he has a lot of potential for both his past and his future! if i *can* pick the Doctor, possibly Nine? i love DT but there's something about how raw and honest Nine is really gets to me

favorite female character: Donna Noble!!! my beloved!!! she's just who i had the most fun watching and who absolutely deserved a better ending/series finale in my opinion

least favorite character: i have plenty of salt to go around but still probably can't answer this with anyone other than R*ver S*ng

prettiest character: is it bad that my first thought was Ten LOL no okay um this is hard because they've cast a lot of pretty attractive people... possibly Clara? i wish they'd mixed up her style a little more but Jenna Coleman is gorgeous no doubt

funniest character: honestly not to repeat Rory and Donna again but Rory's sarcasm (also sorry but at some point him dying every other episode was laugh-worthy too) and Donna's sass were both great. also liking Graham so far (i'm watching Thirteen right now!)

favorite season: series 1!!! ninerose + bad wolf plot is simply unbeatable

favorite episode: oooh this is a tough one! really like a few of the S1 episodes (Dalek is incredible, and I actually did enjoy The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances a lot) but also love some of Eleven's fillers (Hide my beloved 💗) ((I swear I do love Ten but he has so much angst written into every scene that the sheer pain makes it hard to pick his stuff for these questions lol))

favorite romantic ship: Doctor x Rose !!!! do not ask me to pick an incarnation or we will be here for awhile

favorite family ship: does the entire RTD era JE crew count Nine, Jack, and Rose! could've watched entire seasons of them just Doing Things tbh and am sad we were robbed of that

favorite friend ship: if it doesn't have to be canon, Rose and Rory would get along so well, i don't make the rules. if it does have to be canon, Ten and Donna! they just clicked so quickly as a duo and i know this is me with my personal headcanon blinders on but i really don't think any companion has clicked with their respective Doctor(s) as easily and cohesively as Rose and Donna did

worst ship: well i mean it's doctor x r*ver (specifically eleven if i have to choose; peter capaldi at least sold it a bit more imo) for me but tbf there aren't *that* many people in new who that i can see as genuinely good romantic partners for the doctor? probably could make a chart based on how much i vibe or don't vibe with various pairings lol

Overview of Television I watched for Project 1952:

Best Comedy: I Love Lucy. Pretty self-evident!

Best Variety Show: All Star Revue. The episodes hosted by Olsen and Johnson were the most delicious kind of crazy.

Best Drama: Dragnet. Its unglamorized portrayal of crime investigations was refreshing.

Best Anthology Show: Westinghouse Studio One. The episodes could vary a lot in quality, but the acting and production values were always top notch. And I got to see Betty Furness three times in every show!

Best Gameshow: What’s My Line? This might go down as my favorite show out of everything. It is consistently fun and hilarious.

Best News Show: See it Now with Edward R. Murrow. We need a show like this today! Both cerebral and visceral... in-depth coverage of stories not always in the headlines... and a voice for real morality in the midst of racism and communist witch hunts...

Best Children’s/adventure: The Adventures of Superman. I did not expect to like this so much- I'm not a comics/superhero person at all. But the show is just kind of cute and fun.

Best Sports Broadcast: I really enjoyed watching the Heavyweight Title fight between Marciano and Walcott, which kind of shocked me.

Worst Show: The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. It’s not the worst show production-wise, but I just couldn’t stand the moralizing, the deep sexism, and the exploitation of a real family. I really didn't like the "character" Ozzie- he wasn’t funny or charismatic, and something about him rubbed me the wrong way.

Favorite male character: Ricky Ricardo from I Love Lucy. Sexy, funny, talented, able to laugh at himself and appear ridiculous... and how ‘bout a hand for the fact that he was a Latino man starring on a #1 TV show when any kind of racial diversity on television was almost unheard of! (Honorable mention to Clark Kent/Superman.)

Favorite female character: Ethel Mertz from I Love Lucy. Vivian Vance is a comedic genius who doesn’t always get the credit for it. And she should! (Honorable mention to Dale Evans from The Roy Rogers Show. Another ass kicking cowgirl!)

Best pitch-person: Betty Furness!! No one else could make me spend hours of my life taking, editing, and posting screenshots of all the products she sold. (Honorable mention to Harry von Zell who sold us Carnation evaporated milk on The Burns and Allen Show.)

Character or person I’d most want to marry: Can I be in a quadruple with Betty Furness, Arlene Francis, and Robert Lewis? (Arlene Francis and Robert Lewis were both panelists on What’s My Line?)

Best surprises: Randomly falling in love with Betty Furness. The fact that Tales of Tomorrow existed years before The Twilight Zone. Eisenhower’s acceptance speech for the nomination where he talked glowingly about “progressive policies in the finest Republican tradition.” The insane, unpredictable, occasionally meta comedy duo of Olsen and Johnson!

Worst surprises/most disappointing: The Christmas episode of Tales of Tomorrow. The episode of Ozzie and Harriet where Ozzie committed the high crime of wanting to look at beautiful women in ballet costumes. The episode of The Cisco Kid where a guy tries to rape a girl, but her father says it’s ok because he understands what it’s like to be so in love with a woman you can’t control yourself. The episode of Dragnet where an 8-year-old boy was shot by a gun his 9-year-old neighbor got for Christmas. It wasn’t disappointing as an episode, because it was very good, but it made me cry my freaking eyes out.

2023 highlight: MUSIC

ongoing journaling of good things in 2023 so i don't drown in my depression. this time i'm talking music. idk if any of this is entertaining, but it's basically just for me anyway. lots of unimportant rambling under the cut

back in the day (attempt 2 of 3 of going to college), i got this student discount deal where i got spotify premium and hulu bundled together. idk when that deal stopped, but my account is grandfathered in. so, since then, my wife and i have been sharing the same account. which gets inconvenient at times, because only one person can listen at a time. "why don't you just get duo?" because i don't what'll happen and i don't wanna pay extra 😭

all this to say, my wife's music listening will always be mixed in with mine for spotify wrapped. for the most part though, i listen a lot more than they do

to my utter horror, niigo usurped carly's throne for number one artist for me this year. i had no idea that was possible, until i remembered my mizuena brainrot episode throughout the entire month of january. i don't play project sekai (bad at rhythm games, don't like gacha) - even still though, i'm gay and trans and not immune to mizuki and ena's charms 💀 there's a really cute video out there of mizuena performing "venom" live and i'm pretty sure it enraptured me enough to make it my number 1 song for this year

not long after releasing the loneliest time, carly rae jepsen released the loveliest time. my favorite song of hers is constantly changing. when "shy boy" came out this summer i listened to it on repeat. there's still a comic i want to do with that song, but i haven't had the energy for it yet. right now my favorite is "talking to yourself." something about "are you reaching for me/making love to someone else?" makes me lose my goddamn mind

anime music has fully invaded my playlist. i dig the music from bocchi the rock! so much. of course, every song from g-witch. even "houseki no hibi" is in the top 100, even though for a while there, i couldn't listen to it because of how emotional it made me feel :') (even now it can make me cry, and even like a week or so ago i played it on repeat during my drive home while i was crying about work stuff hahaha i'm fine don't worry)

some new awesome artists i listened to this year (just to name a few): laufey, ratwyfe, mxmtoon, reinaiery, khaidreams

i feel like ghost and surfaces sort of fell off my radar even though their music was so popular with me even a year ago. it's been a weird year, and maybe neither were what i needed while i was dealing with new environments

A Postmortem on the FLCL Sequels

So, with the end of FLCL Shoegaze comes the end of the FLCL series. Or at least, the end until Production I.G. decides to dig it back up and see what they can do with it now that they're no longer co-producing new seasons with Adult Swim. Whether or not they were good will be a debate that'll be as endless as who would win between Goku and Superman, but that's why I'm here to give my thoughts on all four of them, my history with the series, and do my best to analyze the themes encompassing this era of FLCL. So you all better pack your bags, ladies, gentlemen, germs, and every other gender in-between, because you're about to go on a trip.

As far as I can remember, I was relatively new to the FLCL fandom when Progressive first aired in 2018. I was introduced to the original series by my art therapist in 2016, I got the complete series DVD by Funimation for my birthday (along with the first two seasons of Rick and Morty on Blu-Ray), and my life was possibly changed forever. After watching the first episode, I told my art therapist how I thought it was a mix of Rick and Morty and Star vs the Forces of Evil in how they both centered on an average awkward boy (Naota, Morty, Marco) being taken on bizarre adventures by some lunatic from beyond the stars (Haruko, Rick, Star) and learning valuable lessons from having his life repeatedly put at risk.

At first, I didn't entirely pay attention to the messages because I was more distracted by the fun animation, giant robots, excellent dialogue (Kari Wahlgren and Barbara Goodson have such great chemistry together, by the way), and Haruko herself, who quickly became one of my top waifus and comfort characters. A few months later, one Tuesday evening in April 2017, I came up with the idea to have Haruko hang out with Dipper and Mabel Pines from Gravity Falls, wrote it down on the notes app of my phone, and so began my fanfic-writing career. I just thought that FLCL's off-the-wall humor would fit pretty well with the weirdness of Gravity Falls, and I also believed that Haruko and Grunkle Stan would make a great duo. And sure enough, the resulting story I called Fooly Falls was successful, and I've been writing crossovers ever since.

Now that we have my humble beginnings as a fanfiction writer out of the way, let's move on to talking about Progressive already. As the only true sequel to FLCL out of this bunch, it naturally had much to live up to, like most sequels. Studio Gainax was practically a walking corpse with most of its big franchises going elsewhere with Studio Khara making the Rebuild of Evangelion movies, Panty and Stocking being put in hibernation before it was announced Studio Trigger would pick up its long-awaited second season years later (by the way, FLCL animated by Trigger. Just imagine the possibilities), there was an entirely new cast of characters for Haruko to mess with so she can have some of that sweet Atomsk pie, and most famously, they had a completely new creative team since most of them were off at Trigger. I remember all the theories about what Naota and Mamimi were up to around this time. While they were all proven false, it was interesting to see so many different ideas.

To give a brief rundown, our favorite answer to the question "What happens when you stick Rick Sanchez, Star Butterfly, Deadpool, and The Doctor in a crack den together and made them lick from the same frog?" has returned to Earth in search of another troubled kid to sexually harass so she can get her hands on Atomsk, this time it's Hidomi Hibajiri, an aloof girl who has bizarre dreams of everybody dying and tearing each other apart. But also along for the ride is Julia Jinyu, a very Haruko-like woman (and also one of the most underrated anime characters in recent memory) who also pursues Atomsk and later turns out to be Haruko's more moral other half. Think of it like Kami and King Piccolo from Dragon Ball being the good and evil halves of the same Namekian, Stripe and Gizmo from Gremlins, the Skesis and the Mystics from The Dark Crystal, Scott Pilgrim and Nega-Scott, Urizen and V from Devil May Cry 5 both coming from Vergil, Ansem and Xemnas from Kingdom Hearts being the Heartless and Nobody of Xehanort, etc. Jinyu was probably my favorite character from the sequels overall. I liked her design, her voice by the excellent Allegra Clark, her interactions with Hidomi, and the dynamic she had with Haruko, which gave me a ton of Stan and Ford vibes. And it's through that dynamic that I present to you what I believe to be the overall message of the sequels, that being to let go of the past so you can embrace the future.

Throughout the entire season, Haruko is even more obsessed with Atomsk than ever after a near-successful attempt at capturing the Pirate King that resulted in the creation of Jinyu, who wants Atomsk to remain free, which causes the two to argue in pretty much every scene they appear together in. Meanwhile, Hidomi's mother says that at some point, they should stop waiting for the absent Mr. Hibajiri, but Hidomi still thinks he's out there, which creates some drama in the climax of the season. Ultimately, Hidomi's arc comes full circle once she ditches the headphones she wears to shut out the world around her and accepts everything for what it is. At the same time, when it seems like Haruko will finally get her hands on Atomsk, the normally bold and brash biker babe starts crying over how the Pirate King doesn't want to accept her feelings. However, Atomsk decides to throw Haruko a bone and hug her before returning Jinyu to life and giving the Vespa Woman the comfort she needed at the moment. To quote Ide in that exact scene, all beautiful things eventually fade away.

When I turned FLCL Progressive into Fooly Falls 2: Ride on Shooting Star, I made this message about letting go of the past much more obvious through the plotline involving Grunkle Stan's grudge against Haruko. Twenty years after the events of Fooly Falls, Stan never forgave Haruko for betraying his trust by nearly getting Dipper and Mabel killed in her quest for Atomsk, and he still holds that grudge even at the ripe old age of 79. Naturally, Dipper, Mabel, and Ford aren't very trusting of Haruko either, as the three thought she was just an awkward memory they'd soon forget over time. Since then, Dipper moved to Gravity Falls after finishing college to take up Ford's apprenticeship, Mabel followed behind to continue a romantic relationship with Pacifica, and Ford soon formed a friendship with Jinyu like the one Stan and Haruko had in the past.

Meanwhile, Gwen Pines, the daughter of Dipper and Wendy, has nightmares like Hidomi's that usually involve the destruction of the world because she fears a future where she could lose her family, her friends, her home, and eventually herself. Similarly, though not as apparent as Gwen, her little brother Tyrone, and three of Soos & Melody's children, Leia, Juan, and Joseph "Jorgé" Ramirez, all fear growing up while Ian and Imelda Ramirez act too mature for their age. And finally, there's Mabel and Pacifica's adopted son Arnold, who is a constant nervous wreck as a result of Pacifica dedicating her life to being a superior parent to her own parents and smothering Arnold with as much love as possible, making Arnold a very timid mama's boy who's not too keen on breaking out of his comfort zone. Whenever he is forced to try new things, hilarity usually ensues, and something bad happens as a result. By the end of the story, however, Stan lets go of his feud with Haruko as he dies, all the kids have grown as people from their adventures together, and Haruko learns from Dipper that she can't force someone to love her, as Dipper has tons of experience in that regard with his childhood crush on Wendy, before accepting Jinyu as like a sister to her and the two of them ride off into the sunset to stop Medical Mechanica.

Now we move onto FLCL Alternative, which I plan on turning into a prequel to Fooly Falls/Rick and Morty crossover titled Rick and Haruko. In this season, we focus on 17-year-old Kana Koumoto and her friends as they await the impending awkwardness of adulthood until Haruko and Medical Mechanica crash into their lives. As I stated earlier, Rick and Haruko will be a prequel to Fooly Falls, expanding on revelations in Fooly Falls 2 that Haruko came from a dystopian hellhole that was about to be destroyed by the Cromulons and Atomsk until she found herself entangled in the adventures of Rick Sanchez, Birdperson, and Squanchy. However, if you've read Fooly Falls 2, you'd know that eventually, Haruko would betray Rick and become the Vespa Woman we all know her as through a combination of her growing lust for Atomsk and having a toxic role model in Rick. How all that goes down, you'll have to wait and see.

Similarly, Kana's friendship with Pets starts to come crashing down when she discovers Pets' crummy home life and tries to help her, but this, unfortunately, goes poorly when Kana realizes that she was taking her friendship with Pets for granted, forcing her to accept that adulthood isn't as bad as she thinks she is. Correlating to the theme of accepting the future I brought up earlier and will become even stronger once I talk about Alternative's follow-up Shoegaze, Kana still has much growing up to do.

And now we move on to Shoegaze, quite possibly the most controversial sequel season since Progressive. No joke, when I first saw the trailer, I thought we were getting a FLCL video game that wasn't Hi-Fi Rush or Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. Yeah, the switch to CGI definitely took some getting used to, and the fact that the season was only three episodes long for reasons that will forever elude me certainly didn't help me and other viewers adjust to the change.

Anyways, in what is apparently a prequel to the original series, though I don't see it outside of Haruko searching for Atomsk again, what seems to be the origins of the Rickenbacker, and the presence of our favorite sopping wet cat with eyebrows that are definitely compensating for something, Commander Amarao, Grunge takes place in a wretched hive of scum and villainy called Okura where we focus on three of its young residents getting caught up in some classic FLCL shenanigans. Shinpachi is tired of how ambivalent his sushi chef father is towards the state of their world. Shonari is a rock man who had to flee his home planet with his brother after Medical Mechanica took it over, only to become a victim of bullying as a result while said brother fell in with one of the local yakuza gangs. Finally, Orinoko is raised by her single father and their family's robot. Rather than easing us into this new world before it all goes to hell, we begin with getting straight into the action as Haruko kills an important member of Medical Mechanica with tainted sushi, makes Shinpachi her new Naota, and kills the mayor before turning all the yakuza against each other while she hacks into Medical Mechanica to release Atomsk. Yeah, it's definitely a lot to take in for just the first episode.

To put it in Layman's terms, Shinpachi believes he has no future in Okura, Shonari is disappointed with his brother becoming a drunkard doing the yakuza's dirty work, and Orinoko has mommy issues that she vents on the robot, who later turns out to have her mother's consciousness uploaded into it upon her death. As Shin narrates in the first episode, nobody in his world has any hope left except for the chance to get the hell out of dodge by rocket. He, Shonari, and Orinoko dream of one of them finding a way out of Okura to a better life, but then in comes Haruko to cause her usual brand of chaos in search of Atomsk.

I want to bring up Orinoko in particular because while she does dream of a better future, she also has trouble letting go of the past by refusing to accept the house robot as like a mother to her, only for her to change her mind when she learns that the robot houses her mother's mind, so she's still alive in a sense. Afterward, Haruko gives the three kids a ticket off of Okura, but Orinoko is the only one to use the ticket to leave and pursue the future she wants, while Shin and Shonari have their hopes for their futures restored.

Lastly, there's Shoegaze, the current final season of FLCL, or at least the last season Production I.G. will co-produce with Adult Swim, according to Jason DeMarco on his Twitter. Ten years after the bizarre end of FLCL Alternative, we pick up with Masaki Aofuji, who can see weird ghost-like creatures who project screenshots of the previous seasons on his body. Joining him are Kana and Tsukata Kanda, returning from Alternative, along with another very Haruko-like girl named Harumi Araisho. I'll admit I was one of the few speculating heavily on whether Harumi and Haruko were somehow connected. Maybe Harumi was actually Haruko in disguise, another part of her like Jinyu was, or even an evil clone created by Medical Mechanica. But in actuality, Harumi was a completely separate character, and Haruko didn't even show up at all. But I'll get further into that later.

The premise of this season is Masaki and Harumi adventuring into a mysterious tower, and it's up to Kanda and a grown-up Kana to stop whatever Harumi has planned because it turns out she's a Medical Mechanica sympathizer. However, it turns out that there is far more to Harumi than we're led to believe. As it turns out, Harumi is actually from another dimension where she was actually a boy and was displaced into Masaki and Kana's dimension due to the end of Alternative that caused the universe to split into two. The now female Harumi is left lost in this strange new world, wondering if they really belong, which causes them to become kindred spirits with the equally isolated Masaki.

Now let's get into the real meat and potatoes of this section and what I believe shall validate my point made here. In the ten years that passed since Alternative, Kana never quite got over her breakup with Pets and was experimented on by the government to try and reawaken her N.O. powers in the hopes that she would be able to restore the universe to normal, slowly separating Kana from her remaining friends in the process and generally ruining her life in general. In episode 2, as she confronts Masaki and Harumi on top of the tower, Kana pours her heart out in an impassioned speech about how people had high expectations for her and that she wasn't prepared for the responsibilities thrust upon her. But despite everything she went through and all of her regrets, Kana just kept rolling with life's punches, displaying how while she's trying to live in the now, she remains stuck in the past.

By contrast, Harumi gives their own speech about how they'd rather live in the now and live their life to the fullest. Or at least what life they did have before it was almost cut short by an easily scared sniper, and the resulting burst of N.O. energy from Masaki nearly joins the two universes together again, just as Kanda planned. However, in the chaos, Harumi is returned to their original dimension and gender, while Masaki's life is returned to normal once the dust settles. However, he gets to see Harumi again thanks to Atomsk allowing him to cross dimensions and visit the Mars colony Harumi and their sister live on while also making sure to deliver Pets a letter from Kana.

In conclusion, the FLCL sequels may seem incredibly disjointed at first. Still, through my best attempt at analyzing them all, I can conclude that while they have differing messages and themes, they are ultimately carried by the overarching theme of the past versus the future that also connects to the classic series's message of the weirdness of growing up and how you should just live in the now instead of acting more mature than you actually are. As a wise woman once said, "You're still just a kid, Takkun."

Oh boy, this took me a while! I've just been in such a FLCL mood for a while now and I just needed to get this off my chest, but I simply had trouble how. Anyways, now that this analysis is finally done, be sure to keep an eye out for the following stories in the Fooly Falls universe!

Fooly Falls: A FLCL Christmas in Gravity Falls (a Christmas special born from watching Dragon Ball Z Abridged's Christmas Tree of Might and Plan to Eradicate Christmas, coming as soon as I finish Steven Universe Snake Eyes)

Rick and Haruko (tying into Grunge & Shoegaze and Rick and Morty season 7, to be released hopefully in 2024)

Possibly coming in 2024, or maybe even 2025 to tie in with FLCL's 25th anniversary)
