As I alluded to yesterday, ringtones became one of the record industry's strategies for raising profits in a post-Napster world. Two of the songs on today's poll are notable for this reason, with 50 Cent's In da Club becoming the first number one song on the Billboard Ringtone Charts in 2004 (the first song to reach this achievement) and Beyoncé's Crazy in Love becoming the best selling ringtone in the United Kingdom that year.

We're also starting to see the south start to take over the sound of rap in the mainstream. Groups like OutKast, Arrested Development, Three 6 Mafia, and Geto Boys already helped to put the south on people's radars (note: these artists are all from different regions in the south so their music branches off from different styles, so I'm not lumping them together for any of those reasons). But in the early 2000s with the mainstream popularity of crunk, the south was going to define a lot of what rap sounds like to people this decade. With all of the R&B fusion gaining popularity in the genre, crunk helped to serve as an alternative sound. There isn't any crunk on this poll (sadly Get Low by Lil Jon and the East Side Boyz missed eligibility by one slot), but we'll definitely see its presence later on.

Today's chart also features the posthumous release of Aaliyah's Miss You. Aaliyah, singer, actress, "Princess of R&B", was killed in a plane crash in 2001 when she was only 22 years old. For the music video, artists like Jamie Foxx, Queen Latifa, Lil Kim, DMX, and Missy Elliot made appearances to pay tribute to the late artist. The video also opens with DMX reciting a poem he wrote after the news of her passing. During her short life, she helped to define an entire generation of R&B and her influence is still heard and seen today.

Imagine dating Chris, and you and Chris take Luna, your daughter, to Mcdonald's and to the playground, since she picked to go to those places. While there, Chris pushes Luna on the swing set, and she tells him that she loves him. {Chris is 20 and the reader is 19}

Y\N Pov

I'm currently sitting in the passenger seat of my boyfriend, Chris's car. While my daughter, Luna, is sitting in her carseat in the back. We're on the way to Mcdonald's to get some lunch before we go to the park. Luna chose to go get Mcdonald's, and the playground, since Chris and I told her

"We could go somewhere today"

We usually don't go anywhere, since we like to stay at home most of the time. Whenever the guys want to meet up to go eat at a restaurant, we go, but other than that we don't really go anywhere. Sometimes, Ricky and Vinny will come over and spend the night [which ends up being a week] Luna loves whenever they come over, since she can show other people her toys, besides Chris and I. I smiled, thinking about how Luna is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I wasn't planning on having kids, but I'm so happy that I got pregnant. My ex boyfriend, James, abused me, then he raped me. Telling me that

"If you tell anyone, then I'll fuck you up even more"

After that happened, he left the house. While he was gone, I packed a bag, and left. He hasn't seen me since. He doesn't even know that, he has a child. I've never told him about Luna, and I wasn't ever going to tell him. Chris has been her father figure, since she was born, and now she's 2. I was already dating Chris, when I found out that I was pregnant with Luna. It was 2 months, after James had left me. I was already living with Chris in his apartment, when I found out. Chris was excited about having a child; he knew that it wasn't his biological child, but he didn't care. All he cared about was Luna and I. I looked out of the window, and saw that Chris was pulling into the McDonald's parking lot. I closed my eyes because of the sun fucking burning my god-damn eyes. I slowly opened my eyes, and I hear a little voice asks

"mama are you okay?"

I turned my head, and saw Luna's concerned little face. I smiled at her, and said

"yeah, I'm okay. The sun was just burning my eyes, that's all"

I saw Luna nod, and say

"maybe you can ask dada for his sunglasses"

I looked at Chris, and saw that his eyes were wide as fuck. I chuckled nervously, and looked back at Luna, and said

"mama doesn't need to use Chris's glasses, baby"

I saw Luna nod, and I hear Chris say

"mama can use Chris's glasses if she wants to"

I looked back at Chris, and saw him smiling at me. I rolled my eyes at him, and turned back to look at Luna. I saw her smile at me, and I smiled back at her, and asked

"what do you want to eat?"

I saw Luna, smile even bigger then before. I look at her, and I hear her say

"Chicken nuggies"

I hear Chris laugh, and I hear him say

"Alright, you will get your chicken nuggies"

I smiled, and looked over at Chris. I smiled, and said

"you're such a good father figure to Luna"

I saw Chris shrug his shoulders, and say

"I try my best. I know that I'm not her biological father, and she literally just called me dad suddenly. I'm still trying to get used to having a daughter. I've never thought in a million years that I would have a girlfriend, and a daughter"

I nodded, understanding because it took me awhile to get used to Chris being her father. I honestly thought that I would have to raise Luna by myself, but I didn't have to cause Chris is helping raise her too. After a few minutes, I hear Chris ask

"Babe, do you know what you want?"

I nodded, and said

"a cheeseburger and a coke cola"

I saw Chris smile, and pull up to the drive thru speaker. I grabbed my phone from my backpack, and turned on 'Haunted' by Evanescence. After a few seconds, Chris rolled up his window, and heard the music coming from the speakers. I saw Chris look at me, and say

"Evanescence mood, today?"

I nodded, and started singing the song. After a few minutes, Chris got the food, and sat the drinks and the bag of food down on the floorboard. Chris started pulling out of the parking lot to head to the park, when I hear Luna say

"Dada, can I have my food?"

I looked at Chris, and saw him smile and say

"Luna, you can eat your food, when we get to the playground"

I looked at Luna, and saw her roll her eyes. Chris saw her rolling her eyes too, through the rearview mirror. I hear Chris chuckle, and say

"She got her sass from you"

I glared at Chris, and said

"Well, she got her neediness from you"

I hear Chris gasped, and I hear him say

"I'm not needy"

I looked at Chris, and said

"You are in bed"

I see a little tint of blush on Chris's cheeks; I giggled, and heard Luna singing the lyrics to 'Headache'. I smiled, and turned the sound up a little. I heard Chris singing the lyrics with Luna. I smiled, and looked out of the window. I rolled it down, and started screaming lyrics out of the window. There were people, who were walking on the sidewalk, who stared or glared at me. I just flipped them off, and started screaming louder. When the song ended, I heard clapping; I looked at Chris, and saw that he was clapping at my performance. I smiled at Chris, and I felt him plant a little kiss on my cheek. I smiled, and I hear Luna say

"Dada, ewww!!!"

Chris and I chuckled, and I hear Chris say

"Am I not allowed to kiss mama?"

I saw Luna nod, and say

"No, kissing mama"

I chuckled, and asked Luna

"Why isn't daddy allowed to kiss mommy, Luna bear?"

I saw Luna roll her eyes, and say

"It's nasty"

I giggled, and turned on 'My Last Breath'. I started singing the lyrics quietly. After a few seconds, I felt a hand on my thigh. I looked over at Chris, and saw a little smile on his face. I smiled, and continued singing.

Skip to arriving at the park

Chris just parked the car in the playground parking lot. I unbuckled myself, and opened my door and got out. I grabbed the drinks, and closed my door. I saw Chris, getting Luna out of her car seat. I smiled, and started walking towards the picnic tables. I set down the drinks, and the bag of food (which Chris handed to me, since he was carrying Luna) I sat down, and started passing out the food and drinks. I gave Chris, Luna's happy meal to give to her. I handed Chris his food, but then I hear little squeaks coming from Luna. I looked over at Luna, and saw that she had the biggest smile in her face. I smiled, and asked

"What toy did you get?"

I heard her start squealing more, and I hear her say

"I got Rocket Raccoon!"

I laughed, and said

"Yay! You have Rocket and Groot now"

I saw Luna smile again, and I hear Chris say

"Okay, let's eat our food, so we can go play"

I saw Luna nod, and start eating her chicken nuggets. I smiled, and started eating my cheeseburger.

Skip to when they're done eating

We just got done eating our lunch, and saying Luna was excited was a understatement, she was over the moon excited to play on the swings. Luna started jumping up and down, saying

"Chris, dada, can you push me on the swings?!"

I hear Chris chuckle, and say

"Sure, Luna bear"

I smiled, and started throwing all of our trash away in the trash can. After throwing away the trash, I walked over to where Chris and Luna were standing. I took Luna's hand, while Chris took her other hand. I smiled, and we started walking over to the swing set. I sat down on the swing next to Luna, and started swinging myself. I saw Chris pushing Luna on the swing next to mine. I smiled, and started quietly humming. A few minutes later, I hear Luna say

"I love you, dada"

I saw that Chris was shocked, but was happy at the same time. I even saw happy tears form in his eyes. I smiled, and I hear Chris say

"I love you too, Luna bug"

I smiled, and was happy to have a wonderful boyfriend like Chris, and amazing daughter like Luna.
