Indica or Sativa: Which Weed Strain Is Better? (ft. Brandon Rogers) – Agree to Disagree
We’ve strained ourselves trying to figure out what weed is better: Indica or Sativa. @Brandon Rogers, Eva Victor, Yedoye Travis and Jordan Mendoza spark this very important debate.
About Agree to Disagree:
We live in divisive times. The only way to find common ground is by listening. Agree to Disagree is our venue for vigorous debate of the world’s most pressing issues.

Liza Anne Live Preview: 5/31, Schubas, Chicago
BY JORDAN MAINZER
Back in 2020, singer-songwriter Liza Anne broke out with Bad Vacation, their fourth album of confessional pop rock that was as catchy as it was empathetic and thoughtful. Dealing with topics like mental illness and depression, Bad Vacation’s contrast between aesthetic and subject matter represented a fully formed artistic statement, a mirror into how anxieties and negative thoughts are often below the surface rather than readily apparent. If on previous albums like 2018′s Fine But Dying, Anne emphasized more sprawling instrumentation, Bad Vacation was punchy and tight and ultimately hit hardest.
Over the pandemic, Anne curated ABBA-themed DJ nights to raise money for abortion access and mostly laid low on the release front, save for an arpeggiated synth-heavy cover of “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” during the 2021 holidays. Thankfully, they’re now back with new music. “Cheerleader”, released a couple weeks ago, is Anne’s first single since coming out as gay and non-binary, and it’s a gloriously chanted, horn-inflected disco funk jam. It sees the narrator uplifting someone or those around them, using the motif of the high school cheerleader as a hype person, reclaiming a previously suffocating space as one of empowerment and encouragement. “Your style is a cosmic getaway / Your smile is a national holiday / Ow! scratch off, you're a winning ticket,” Anne sings over funky guitar licks. The song was released in conjunction with a poem Anne penned, “The Gay Miracle”, as well as a Jacq Justice-directed, Anne- and Eva Victor-starring video depicting the very space where “Cheerleader” takes place: the high school gymnasium.
Anne promises new music to be released later this year. In the meantime, they’re currently on tour opening for Australian singer-songwriter Alex Lahey, including a stop tonight at Schubas. Expect to hear “Cheerleader” and lots of Bad Vacation; maybe Anne will play some new songs?
