one thing i hope for is that the audience can be spoken to by dr hill in the beginning of the movie, like i don’t want him appearing throughout the movie (unless they can pull it off but i don’t think that will translate well to the movie) but i think that would be such a good touch, or maybe a brief end credit scene

they've come a long way

#i've been meaning to remake the original monster boyz post for sooo long #when i first made that edit they were essentially just dhes & kel in costume #like. i honestly didn't want to write any lore for the mbz for a long time #but the lore practically wrote itself #they sort of just naturally evolved into who they are now #& now that i have lore for them i have so many edits & story stuff i want to do with them that i literally cannot keep up #i have a literal list of shit i wanna make & do w them & i just do not have the time to do any of it!!#it's gonna take me all of next year to get through this list!!#they're like. genuinely my favorite lil guys #i'm glad i joined simblr bc i never would have made them otherwise #i never had any interest in apocalypse stories or even horror for that matter #i mean. i like horror movies but as far as writing goes i was always more of a slice of life kinda person #y'all have opened my eyes to the horrors #(in a good way)#n e way. i do plan on making a few lore/story related posts at some point #i have NOT forgotten about the boys' origin stories. i just don't have tiiiiime #rainyrambles

What are some censorship rules that you feel you could most comfortably poke fun at without feeling like you could get in some kind of trouble or ending up on some watchlist for doing?

I guess the FOSTA/SESTA censorship law is a pretty miserable piece of legislation that has had a net negative impact on society since day 1. If I could find something funny about it, I'd definitely go for that one.

Although, you can make fun of it directly without being put on some watchlist, though keep in mind this is the law that laid groundwork for online surveillance/suppression of sex workers, and is basically the blueprint for some anti-abortion legislation proposals that would make it illegal to discuss obtaining abortions online. so if some people have their way, someday you COULD get put on a list for giving tips and info online to those seeking abortions. but i digress.

#yes i know anon was prob asking about china but i don't have an answer to that as i'm not at risk of ending up on any chinese watchlists #and i don't have a direct line to the NRTA to find out what gets you on any watchlists anyway，surprise surprise #You probably wouldn't get put on a list anyway #you'd probably just get perma banned from whatever platform you were posting on if you kept breaking their rules about what you can mention #the most basic of censorship rules for most sites i don't think anyone would have a problem with anyway bc most ppl in china agree w them #[these rules usually include no nazi flags or imperial japanese (rising sun) flag depictions， adhering to 1 china policy in discussions #not spreading superstition #or promoting belief in the superstitious]#I see netizens openly complain about topics being suppressed from search trends all the time it's probably (i'm guessing) not as sensitive #as you think #like you'd have to really be causing a scene to get taken note of #anyway sometimes i get what are essentially like. idk. essay prompts. in my inbox #and i just need you all to know i'm dumb as bricks and i don't keep up with international politics in any significant way #answered ask #text #...I guess to actually answer the question I think you could probably make fun of censorship of ghosts and witches a lot #the film censor bureau really shoots itself in the foot with the censorship laws. the chinese film horror genre is a fucking joke #and i see chinese netizens complaining that the domestic movie censorship has gone too far all the time #It's really a shame bc it's stifling some great story telling and everyone knows it

recently someone on tiktok said 'hey lets comment on random thirst traps and say 'you look just like a character from x movie!' (i forgot the name, the original one had one). like as a fun joke to invent a fake movie from the 80s.

i dont need to point out the obvious comparison here (it was far less organised because it was more about pranking people than pretending the movie was real), but it turned out to be a MARKETING STRATEGY for someones album.

#could not be a better illustrator of the marketing culture of today. LOL #everything is an ad and nothing is for fun #stole an idea. essentially tricked people into promoting it by commenting a weird word that someone would then look up and find the album #also tiktok skews younger than tumblr on the whole i think. so it was a little more teenage in its lore #im not saying goncharov was more than it was but it was fun how everyone was able to invent something that seemed plausible #oh the album is meant to be '80s horror movie themed' which might mean something but it doesnt to me #'its such a unique marketing idea! it should be rewarded!' ..........................ok... i think tricking people into giving u money and #fame is gross. but that might just be me #it worked btw.

Something something so many horror movies base around high schoolers, I think there is a cool potential for a movie that the horror is a representation of the capitalist hellscape awaiting those teetering on the verge of adulthood. Or perhaps the horror itself is falling into completely separate paths from those you have spent the majority of your days with, in the same building, in the same structure of classes and homework and activities together, slowly everyone gets picked off and away, a group, a class, a whole generation whittled down until you realize you are alone with your horrors not because you have survived but because that was how it was always going to be. At its core much of horror can be boiled down to a gross aberration of the norm, a disruption of what “should be” or what always has been, or what one expects it to be. And no group is primed more in these concepts than teenagers, rung through their institutional learning, filled with hope or dread over their future, and inexperienced in the uniquely adult isolation that comes with legal independence in an individualized American culture.

Anyways, what if the real monster was the 20s you enter along the way?

#horror #gravical #I just think if I were to write a horror book or movie about high schoolers it would be about the horrors of realizing isolation is inherent #and institution is temporary.#you must create your own sense of self from the inside out and present it to the world if you are to exist in the minds of others #and there’s a horror in all the ways that can go wrong #a horror in how easy it is for everyone you ever knew to become strangers to you #and for you to become a stranger to yourself #strangled by the rapidity of your emotional pubescence #or perhaps it was a slow death and not a growth after all #the reality that you will never know one way or another if you are thriving or failing #it’s up to your own interpretation and to interpret you must exist #anyways i would write the most fucked up psychological shit known to mankind about this #the me being 22 is an essential context to the reading of this post

Oh I can imagine that when mario and luigi find survivors they will freak out when they see that Luigi has been bitten and think he will turn into a zombie,and tried to kill him, only for mario to kill them instead to protect his brother

While Luigi may act sort of the same, I imagine his appearance would change a bit. Maybe a more grayish skin tone and/or altered irises. So it's very easy for people to pick him out of a crowd. He can't just walk up to anyone like normal anymore (except for Mario).

So when they do find survivors, they are in no way able to accept that Luigi is harmless. One even pulls out a weapon. And that's when Mario snaps. Unable to stand by and let them kill his brother, he does what he can to protect him....

Oh! 👀 Now that opens up a lot of doors!

Let's assume for simplicities sake that the events play out similar to TLoU.

Mario and Luigi have managed to survive together, just the two of them - until one day on a scavenging hunt (or whatever job it is they are doing) they are ambushed by infected, and Luigi gets bit.

And at that moment Mario's world starts to crumble, because it's suddenly no why him this can't be happening I was supposed to protect him I can't lose him please

The next few days of waiting are torture; Mario even starts to consider the crazy idea of asking Luigi to bite him, just so they can turn together.

But Luigi doesn't turn, much to Mario's sheer delight; word of this soon spreads to a resistance group, who ask Luigi to come to them so they can figure out a cure from his condition. Mario is reluctant because - even though you did mention Mario is a nice guy who just wants to help others - this is still a zombie apocalypse. TLoU proves that desperation always sets in during the worst of times. So even though Mario tries to help as much as he can, he soon learns he has to turn many down, even if it goes against his very nature.

So the journey plays out pretty similar to TLoU - heck even the confrontation between Joel and Ellie in the house, as well as this line from Ellie could fit into the story

"Stop with the bulls***! What are you so afraid of?! You think I'm gonna end up like Sam? I can't get infected! I can take care of myself!"

This is pretty much almost word for word on what could happen between the Bros. Luigi knows that Mario has always been protective, but considering he's now immune, Mario, in his opinion, is just throwing himself in front of a sponge. There would definitely be conflict, and the Bros would have to work on that new trust in order to get to the resistance group.

Now at the very end...the moment Luigi needs to be sacrificed for a cure.

Much like Joel - Mario snaps. He can't, won't, have his brother come this far, only for once again there be another chance he can be taken away from him again. The world has already given up on itself, but the Bros have never given up on each other. They need each other as their own cures for this bleak world.

So Mario goes on a rampage, until he rescues Luigi, and manages to get them away before they are caught again.

Now...for the ending. I thought long and hard about how I believe this would play out, and from what I've decided - Mario still lies to Luigi, but Luigi immediately picks up on it. Neither brother confess to each other out loud (something they have had to do for the very first time in their lives) but they both know the truth. Luigi doesn't miss the look in Mario's eyes, the blood on his hands. But he's not angry, because he knows he would've done the same thing. They both know that they need each other, and they would never give each other up willingly.

On a side note: I legit thought that this was what they were hinting at during the end of TLoU with Ellie. The way she replied "Ok" to Joel's lie seemed to hint that she knew he wasn't being honest, but chose not to bring it up because she knew she would've done the same if it was him.

Only for that to get completely blown out of the water by having Part 2 say that Ellie wanted to sacrifice herself, even though there was no hint of this at all in the first game 😑

Perhaps later on down the line, Luigi tries to research how his condition could help people, without the need to sacrifice others. Mario tries to get him to give up on it ("It's all useless now") Luigi challenges his brother by asking if he would give up on him....

Cue a slightly awkward and guilty Mario....
