Opinions of the Thursday family on other characters played by their actors:-
Win: she's incredibly chuffed that Caroline was in Coronation Street. The whole family sat and watched *The New Worst Witch* and Fred will never ever, ever admit to how flustered he was by the Miss Hardbroom costume.
Sam: would have much preferred Jack to have played Batman, but omfg young Alfred Pennyworth will do, that's phenomenal.
Joan: she and Sam watched s3 of Shetland and s2 of Guilt. Their parents are banned from seeing either. She is rather jealous of Sara's accent.
Fred: "Oh for goodness' sake, why couldn't Roger be playing a Labour minister instead?!" "To be fair, Dad, I can absolutely imagine you declaring that you're bored of this and are going for a Twix." "What has Morse been telling yoooou... HANG ON THAT LIBERAL MAN LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE A MAN THAT TRIED TO KILL ME!" "WHO TRIED TO KILL YOU, FRED, AND WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME!??!" Anyway, they all watched that Globe *Tempest* together, and Joan refrained heroically from making pointed comments about Prospero's behaviour with Miranda re Ferdinand (at least Roger's Prospero is a lot less... weird about his daughter than some). Win absolutely doesn't have a crush on both Douglas Richardson and Antoine Verlaque, shut up. Fred's been humming "Stars" from Les Mis under his breath at work and it's driving Morse absolutely mad.

[Civil.ge receives funding from US NED among others]
“First and foremost, USAID works with a variety of civil society organizations and non-governmental organizations to help strengthen and improve the democratic process,” Ambassador McKee stated, saying that the objective of their work with civil society is “to ensure that every citizen’s voice is heard, [which] is fundamental to a thriving democracy.” She stressed, “Any claims that the United States through USAID is supporting revolution are patently false and, frankly, disinformation.”
“It’s unfortunate that this was the reaction [to USAID activities by the ruling party], and we support every organization that represents the Georgian people to protect their rights to participate in their democracy regardless of the outcome. Our focus is to protect and preserve the democratic process and ensure that a free and fair election is the outcome and that the outcome is unassailable regardless of who wins,” – concluded the Ambassador.

U.S. Backs Armenian Reforms, Pledges Aid
Tumblr media
Could the key to Armenia's prosperous future lie in its ongoing reforms and the substantial support it's receiving from the United States? On April 5, 2024, a digital press briefing brought together luminaries such as President von der Leyen, High Representative Borrell, Prime Minister Pashinyan, Secretary Blinken, and USAID Administrator Samantha Power, shedding light on the collaborative efforts to steer Armenia toward sustainable growth and stability.
The Essence of U.S. Assistance
James O'Brien, Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, emphasized the multifaceted support the U.S. is extending to Armenia. From humanitarian aid to initiatives aimed at economic rejuvenation, the U.S. is laying a foundation for Armenia to solidify its administrative structures and embrace a brighter horizon. This robust backing is not just about funds; it's a testament to a shared vision of democratic resilience and prosperity. Erin McKee, USAID Assistant Administrator, delved deeper into the specifics, outlining the targeted programs designed to invigorate Armenia's public sector, amplify anti-corruption measures, and stimulate economic innovation. This comprehensive assistance package is meticulously crafted to bolster Armenia's institutions, ensuring they are equipped to navigate and sustain the reformative journey ahead.
A Focus on Governance and Growth
At the heart of the U.S. strategy is a commitment to enhance Armenia's governance. Efforts to combat corruption and foster a transparent, accountable government are paramount. By reinforcing the rule of law, the U.S. aims to attract more economic investments and encourage a thriving business ecosystem in Armenia. The vision is clear: a governance structure that not only commands respect domestically but also garners confidence from international investors.   Humanitarian Aid: A Pillar of Support The briefing also highlighted the humanitarian dimension of U.S. assistance, addressing the immediate needs of Armenia's most vulnerable communities. Infrastructure projects, support for displaced populations, and other critical interventions are being executed in coordination with global partners, ensuring a harmonized approach to Armenia's most pressing challenges.   Strengthening Armenia's Future Together This collaborative endeavor between the U.S. and Armenia shines as a beacon of hope, signaling a commitment to long-term developmental strategies that both nations anticipate will pave the way for a stable, prosperous Armenia. The assistance extends beyond mere monetary aid; it constitutes a comprehensive package of support aimed at empowering Armenia to realize its full potential on the global stage. In summary, the U.S. is steadfast in its support for Armenia's reform agenda, with a keen focus on building resilient institutions, enhancing governance, and fostering economic growth. Through strategic investments in public administration, anti-corruption efforts, and economic development, alongside humanitarian assistance, the U.S. partnership with Armenia is poised to bring about transformative change.   Key Takeaways for a Brighter Armenian Future: - Comprehensive U.S. Funding: Dedicated assistance for Armenia's reformative journey, spanning humanitarian and economic spheres. - Institutional Strengthening: Tailored support aimed at fortifying Armenia's administrative framework and governance. - Anti-Corruption and Governance: Initiatives to cultivate transparency and rule of law, vital for economic growth and investment. - Economic and Humanitarian Aid: A balanced approach, addressing immediate needs while laying the groundwork for sustainable development. - Collaborative Efforts: A united front with international partners to ensure Armenia's path to reform is robust and effective. In navigating the complexities of modern governance and economic challenges, Armenia is not alone. With the support of the U.S., it's on a promising path toward a future marked by stability, prosperity, and democratic integrity.   Sources: THX News, Freedom House, World Bank, Armen Press & US Department of State.
