They may not be fucking they may not even be kissing but they have been together for FOURTEEN fucking years and that is all I need to know.
So what if Kazuki went out in the night for a drink with a woman, let the man have fun. He's allowed to have friends.
So what if Rei is still awkward with touch, that type of shit doesn't go away overnight, and he's obviously okay with Kazuki touching him. He's just not the one to initiate it.
They're queer and they're together in whatever form they are, I don't care. They're together after all this time, after Kazuki cared for Rei and brought him back from the dead for three years, after he taught this man how to fucking LIVE. Raised a girl with him and healed himself in the process. These men literally risked their own lives for each other in this last episode, and here they are, ten years later, living a cozy little life by the beach with their own cafe like all those yaoi mangas where one dude works it and the other is a writer who hasn't come out to his parents.
They are life partners, and they ARE in love and they are family. I love them, I love this show so much.

I have absolutely no problem with ooc fanon content existing. I enjoy it too from time to time. What's bothersome is that some people forget what's fanon and what's not.
Example:
Fanon: Vash is submissive, helpless, and naive.
Canon: Vash is perceptive, a fighter & calculating.
Note that calculating in this context means he's all about precision and accuracy.
A great example in canon that showcases this beautifully is the Vash vs Knives fight in episode 12. While Vash is calculating and precise with his movements, Knives is erratic and impulsive.
