Global Enteral Nutrition Market Is Estimated To Witness High Growth Owing To Abbott Laboratories and Nestlé S.A.
Tumblr media
The global enteral nutrition market is estimated to be valued at US$2,635.9 million in 2020 and is expected to exhibit a CAGR of 5.8% over the forecast period 2020-2027.
A) Market Overview:
Enteral nutrition refers to the delivery of nutrients directly into the digestive tract, bypassing the oral route. It is typically used for patients who cannot consume normal food or have difficulty absorbing nutrients. Enteral nutrition products include formulas that provide complete nutrition, such as proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and minerals. These products are commonly used in hospitals, nursing homes, and homecare settings.
B) Market Dynamics:
1. Increasing prevalence of chronic diseases: The rising prevalence of chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and gastrointestinal disorders drives the demand for enteral nutrition. These patients often experience difficulty in eating or have malabsorption issues, making enteral nutrition a crucial part of their treatment.
2. Growing geriatric population: The aging population is prone to various health issues and often faces difficulty in consuming regular meals. As the geriatric population continues to grow, the demand for enteral nutrition products is expected to increase.
The global Enteral Nutrition Market Growth is expected to witness high growth, exhibiting a CAGR of 5.8% over the forecast period.
C) SWOT Analysis:
Strength:
1. Convenient mode of nutrition delivery: Enteral nutrition products offer a convenient and effective way to provide essential nutrients to patients who cannot consume regular food. This method ensures adequate nutrition intake and supports patient recovery.
2. High demand in hospitals and healthcare facilities: Hospitals and healthcare facilities are the primary end-users of enteral nutrition products. The demand for these products remains high in these settings, creating a stable market.
Weakness:
1. Limited awareness in some regions: Despite the growing popularity of enteral nutrition, there is still limited awareness in certain regions. This can hinder market growth in these areas.
2. High cost of enteral nutrition products: Enteral nutrition products can be expensive, especially for long-term use. This may limit their affordability and accessibility for some patients.
Opportunity:
1. Technological advancements in enteral pumps and feeding tubes: Ongoing advancements in enteral pumps and feeding tubes improve the efficiency and safety of enteral nutrition delivery. This presents an opportunity for market players to develop innovative products and gain a competitive edge.
2. Growing homecare market: The increasing trend of treating patients at home rather than in hospitals creates a significant opportunity for the enteral nutrition market. Homecare settings often rely on enteral nutrition for patients who require long-term or continuous nutritional support.
Threats:
1. Stringent regulations and safety concerns: The enteral nutrition market is subject to strict regulations and safety standards due to the risk of complications such as tube dislodgement and infection. Adhering to these regulations can pose challenges for market players.
2. Competition from parenteral nutrition: Parenteral nutrition, which involves delivering nutrients through intravenous methods, is an alternative to enteral nutrition. The competition between enteral and parenteral nutrition products may impact market growth.
D) Key Takeaways:
North America is the dominating region in the enteral nutrition market, driven by the presence of key players such as Abbott Laboratories and Nestlé S.A. The region also has a well-established healthcare infrastructure and a high prevalence of chronic diseases.
Other key players operating in the global enteral nutrition market include Danone S.A., Fresenius Kabi AG, Mead Johnson & Company, LLC, B. Braun Melsungen AG, Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd, Meiji Holdings Co., Ltd., Bahrain Pharma, Bionova Lifesciences, Global Health Products Inc., Victus Inc., and Curtis Health Caps SP.
Overall, the enteral nutrition market is poised for significant growth due to the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases and the growing geriatric population. Technological advancements and the expanding homecare market are also expected to drive market growth. However, strict regulations and competition from parenteral nutrition pose challenges for market players.

My former U.S. Track and Field teammate Tori Bowie, who was found dead in her home in Florida on May 2, of complications related to childbirth at 8 months pregnant, was a beautiful runner. She was effortless. At the Rio Olympics, I ran the second leg of the 4 x 100 relay. Tori was the anchor. When she got the baton, I remember thinking, “it’s over.” She just accelerated. When she crossed the finish line, I couldn’t wait to run over to her to celebrate. It was her first, and only, Olympic gold medal.
She also picked up a silver (in the 100-m) and bronze (200-m) in Brazil. The next year, at the 2017 World Championships in London, Tori won the 100-m title, earning the title of “world’s fastest woman.” Tori started out as a long jumper. So seeing her thrive as a sprinter was a huge deal. She was just such a bright light, and people were getting to see that.
Tori grew up in Mississippi and had this huge Southern accent. She didn’t take herself too seriously. You felt this sense of ease when you were around her. I last saw her in early 2021, in San Diego, where she was training. She gave me the biggest hug; something about her spirit was just very, very sweet. I felt her sweetness come over me that day.
Tori was 32 when she died. According to the autopsy, possible complications contributing to Bowie’s death included respiratory distress and eclampsia—seizures brought on by preeclampsia, a high blood pressure disorder that can occur during pregnancy. I developed preeclampsia during my pregnancy with my daughter Camryn, who was born in November 2018. The doctors sent me to the hospital, where I would deliver Camryn during an emergency C-section, at 32 weeks. I was unsure if I was going to make it. If I was ever going to hold my precious daughter.
Like so many Black women, I was unaware of the risks I faced while pregnant. According to the CDC, in 2021 the maternal mortality rate for Black women was 2.6 times the rate for white women. About five days before I gave birth to Camryn, I was having Thanksgiving dinner with my family. I mentioned that my feet were swollen. As we went around the table, the women shared their experiences during pregnancy. My cousin said she also had swollen feet. My mom didn’t. Not once did someone say, ‘oh, well, that’s one of the indicators of preeclampsia.’ None of us knew. When I became pregnant, my doctor didn’t sit me down and tell me, ‘these are things that you should look for in your pregnancy, because you are at a greater risk to experience these complications.’
That needs to change, now, especially in light of Tori’s tragic passing. Awareness is huge. Serena Williams had near-death complications during her pregnancy. Beyoncé developed preeclampsia. I hate that it takes Tori’s situation to put this back on the map and to get people to pay attention to it. But oftentimes, we need that wake-up call.
The medical community must do its part. There are so many stories of women dying who haven’t been heard. Doctors really need to hear the pain of Black women.
Luckily, there’s hope on several fronts. Congress has introduced the Momnibus Act, a package of 13 bills crafted to eliminate racial disparities in maternal health and improve outcomes across the board. California passed Momnibus legislation back in 2021. These laws make critical investments in areas like housing, nutrition, and transportation for underserved communities. Further, several pharmaceutical companies are making advances on early detection and treatment of preeclampsia.
Three gold medalists from that 4 x 100 relay team in Rio set out to become mothers. All three of us—all Black women—had serious complications. Tianna Madison has shared that she went into labor at 26 weeks and entered the hospital “with my medical advance directive AND my will.” Tori passed away. We’re dealing with a Black Maternal Health crisis. Here you have three Olympic champions, and we’re still at risk.
I would love to have another child. That’s something that I know for sure. But will I be here to raise that child? That’s a very real concern. And that’s a terrifying thing. This is America, in 2023, and Black women are dying while giving birth. It’s absurd.
I’m hopeful that things can get better. I’m hopeful that Tori, who stood on the podium at Rio, gold around her neck and sweetness in her soul, won’t die in vain.
—as told to Sean Gregory

Hello Mr.Gaiman,
I hope you’re doing well.
I wanted to get your opinion on a topic that me and a friend of mine were discussing:
With the fast paced world we live in, where everyone(understandably) wants things as soon as possible, I’ve been reading and thinking about what kind of impact this has on novel writers.
For newbie writers, that want to be traditionally published, who are still studying craft, finding their process, need to find that story that’s right for querying, etc… It feels like I’ve missed the perfect time to enter publishing. With some authors publishing a book a year(something I’m not able to do at this point in my skill set) and AI on the rise it feels like their is no room for the newer writers, who are still developing.
Why invest in the slower(in terms of speed) writer, when we can get AI to create something at the drop of a hat?
Some of my favorite writers have said it’s taken them years to break into publishing. But what if, because of the current times, you no longer have that same time to break in?
I could be wrong about all of this but I wanted to het your opinion on this matter.
Well, for me, I'm not interested in reading anything that nobody could be bothered to write. I want to read a story that tells me about the world I live in and the person who made it.
For me, Why invest in the slower(in terms of speed) writer, when we can get AI to create something at the drop of a hat? is like asking why you would take a couple of hours to get a fine chef to cook a magnificent dinner when you could add water to powder and get a tasteless sludge that doesn't contain much in the way of nutrition instead.

The decision to pause deliveries to the north of the Gaza Strip has not been taken lightly, as we know it means the situation there will deteriorate further and more people risk dying of hunger.  WFP is deeply committed to urgently reaching desperate people across Gaza but the safety and security to deliver critical food aid - and for the people receiving it - must be ensured. Deliveries resumed on Sunday after a three-week suspension following the strike on an UNRWA truck and due to the absence of a functioning humanitarian notification system. The plan was to send 10 trucks of food for seven straight days, to help stem the tide of hunger and desperation and to begin building trust in communities that there would be enough food for all.  On Sunday, as WFP started the route towards Gaza City, the convoy was surrounded by crowds of hungry people close to the Wadi Gaza checkpoint. First fending off multiple attempts by people trying to climb aboard our trucks, then facing gunfire once we entered Gaza City, our team was able to distribute a small quantity of the food along the way. On Monday, the second convoy’s journey north faced complete chaos and violence due to the collapse of civil order. Several trucks were looted between Khan Younes and Deir al Balah and a truck driver was beaten. The remaining flour was spontaneously distributed off the trucks in Gaza city, amidst high tension and explosive anger. In December, the Integrated Phase Classification report compiled by 15 agencies including WFP warned of the risk of famine in northern Gaza by May unless conditions there improved decisively. At the end of January, after delivering food to the north, we reported on the rapid deterioration of conditions. In these past two days our teams witnessed unprecedented levels of desperation.  The latest reports confirm Gaza’s precipitous slide into hunger and disease. Food and safe water have become incredibly scarce and diseases are rife, compromising women and children’s nutrition and immunity and resulting in a surge of acute malnutrition. People are already dying from hunger-related causes.  A report issued Monday by UNICEF and WFP, based on recent data, finds that the situation is particularly extreme in the Northern Gaza Strip. Nutrition screenings conducted at shelters and health centres in the north found that 15.6 per cent - or 1 in 6 children under 2 years of age - are acutely malnourished. WFP will seek ways to resume deliveries in a responsible manner as soon as possible. A large-scale expansion of the flow of assistance to northern Gaza is urgently needed to avoid disaster. To achieve this, WFP needs significantly higher volumes of food coming into the Gaza strip from multiple routes, additionally, crossing points to the north of Gaza must open. A functioning humanitarian notification system and a stable communication network are needed. And security, for our staff and partners as well as for the people we serve, must be facilitated. Gaza is hanging by a thread and WFP must be enabled to reverse the path towards famine for thousands of desperately hungry people.
I cannot believe this.

Prompt/Idea
A new daycare?!
Many years has passed. Danny is now, finally a freshly adult ghost at the ripe age of 200! Take that everyone! I'm no longer a baby!
Now that his powers have finally stopped developing and changing, and others would stop their pestering. He was grateful that they stopped trying to kill him when they learned that he was actually a very, VERY young Ghost. But! Enough is enough and they can finally stop. (it never ended. A baby is a baby for ever.)
Danny had already lived one human life. His loved ones had joined him on the other side of the veil years ago. His parents did too, no surprise there, and thankfully, they are nice as ghosts.
After living in the zone for a century, Danny realised something very important. The baby ghosts, Neverborn or freshly Dead, don't have anyone to show them the ropes and to protect them. Some are so weak, they destabilize and turn into pure ecto with time.
So he took the matters into his own hands and opened a Baby Ghost Daycare, or BGD for short. Every ghost under the age of 120 must come there at least 3 times a week. There, they learn their powers, get stable nutrition and discover their Obsessions in a safe manner. Frostbite and his people is their on call doctors.
-----
Deadman entered into the JLD meeting room holding a glowing green paper and having a look of absolute embarrassment. He shows it to his friends.
He has been invited to the Daycare.
