———savage love affair: dancing with devils

from nyx: i haven't written in a very good while and still can't so have this self-indulgent ooc!koga fic i churned out some time last year when i discovered the existence of savage love affair by undead

「For all eternity, they can remain intertwined; bound by fate, and by an invisible force that is all too willing to bring them together once more.」

In a midnight ballroom under the faint light of the full moon, silhouettes of dresses swayed side by side. The room was filled with the scent of expensive incense, and the music playing from a distant gramophone provided an illusion that everything in the room was real and moving. But even with the smoke covering the floor and walls, two figures moved so fluidly as if they had been born together rather than merely dancing. Their movements were slow, languorous; their faces flushing red under the glow of the chandeliers.

They seemed to have forgotten everyone else around them, or perhaps they simply didn’t care about anyone else watching at all. They were only interested in each other, and when the song finished, their lips gently pressed against one another’s, and for a moment, they were just there, holding each other close.

“You know,” she says, her fingers threading themselves through his hair, tangling themselves together. Her thumb traces patterns on his cheekbone, tracing the lines on his face. Her lips press softly into his neck and she lets out a sigh against the soft, warm skin. “There’s something I’d very much like to try.”

He hums, his fingers trailing along the small of her back. “Is that so?”

“Yes.” She looks up at him through her eyelashes. A hint of mischief twinkles in her eyes.

His heart skips a beat just looking at her. He takes the bait eagerly, snaking his arms tightly around her waist. He presses their bodies flush together for the first time that night. The feel of her skin under his hands, her lips ghosting across his mouth, and her fingers drumming along to the rhythm of his heartbeat were enough to send shivers down his spine.

His tongue dips into the space between her parted lips. There is no denying it anymore, no more pretenses or hesitation; this is real—the way she tastes; the way the warmth of her body seeps through his skin.

“You haven't changed much at all,” she whispered, as she ran her fingers up his chest to cup the back of his neck, tilting his face towards hers with a tenderness he hadn’t felt in years. “Ogami Koga.”

The sound of his name on her lips triggered a sharp, tingling sensation to run up and down his spine. “Really now?” he said breathlessly, his gaze alternating between her eyes and lips. He couldn’t tear himself away from her, no matter how hard he tried—if he even really did. “And what exactly makes you so sure about that?”

She smiled at him as she stepped closer, removing the tiny bit of gap separating their bodies. His arms wrapped instinctively around her waist, pulling her flush against him. She reached behind his head and brushed aside his hair before pressing kisses along his jawline. To him, it was like being hit in the gut with pure adrenaline—the feeling almost overwhelming, but at the same time utterly familiar. He had never felt more alive in his life.

“Everything.”

He closed his eyes, savoring the feeling of her against him. He had thought it would feel like coming home, but he had never quite understood how right that description was until now. It was a feeling that went beyond anything he had ever experienced. A feeling that could make a man go numb with bliss, and yet, at the same time be filled with such deep desire. It was a love he didn’t know he was capable of feeling, not until now, when it finally existed.

The heat in his veins threatened to burst through his skin and spill onto every surface beneath him, and it’s growing stronger by the second. His entire body felt like flames consuming him from the inside out. If his hands hadn’t been around her waist, he wasn’t sure if he could have managed to keep them there. His mind spun and his thoughts spiraled out of control, trying desperately to make sense of what was happening. But he knew without a doubt what he had to do—what he just realized he needed so much—so he leaned down to capture her mouth once again, pushing her backward into the wall. This time, neither cared about what others might think, if those others even existed in their world at all.

They were lost in the moment. They were lost in each other.

He opened his mouth and allowed his teeth to graze over her bottom lip. She gasped lightly at the sensation, and he took advantage of this opportunity to slip his tongue between her lips, slowly exploring every inch of her mouth as she did the same with his. She tasted like blood and sweat and raspberry champagne; passion and desperation and all things forbidden. It was intoxicating.

“I think you’re going to have me addicted, sweetheart.”

He kissed her again, even harder this time, and when she responded in kind, it felt as though his lungs were on fire, trapped in a fiery ferocity without as much as a single escape hatch to ease him off its burning wrath. Her hands were running wild across his skin, caressing his body in places they shouldn’t, but he wanted her to touch everything. To feel everything. Every inch, every space. Every nook and corner and crack of his skin that could lead her to the deepest crevices of his soul. All the promises and the secrets and the guilt. He wanted her to explore them all.

And he knew she would find them all. Just like how she found him again in this life, or in any of the other lifetimes where the essences of their souls coexisted.

She has known him better than anyone in this world and he has always loved her more fiercely than anyone could comprehend. In this reality, there are no barriers to their connection—no one could possibly intrude upon them here. No one knows what lies hidden beneath the surface. Nothing can separate them. Not even death.

He had seen it happen before—those moments that led them both to the verge of both heaven and hell. When the darkness became too thick to see past or the demons grew bold enough to break through their gates. Those times had brought pain. And in those moments, they held on tightly to each other, clinging desperately to the remaining seconds that will likewise be gone from them too soon.

And the next time they open their eyes, it would be in another lifetime, this one far different than the last, the two of them farther away from each other.

But tonight—tonight, he can hold on to her for as long as he wants. In this ballroom filled with desire as they lock themselves under the thick veil of this eternal night that remains palpable even through the gaps of their fingers. Tonight, they dance for a love that isn’t human; a love that transcends the boundaries of time and space. For all eternity, they can remain intertwined; bound by fate, and by an invisible force that is all too willing to bring them together once more.

Tonight, Ogami Koga dances with her—trapping her in the depths of his naked love, knowing fully well that it is a sacrifice against a faceless, listless world.
