A/N- A little drabble I wrote that was on my Patreon before life started kicking my ass lol

Dean sat on the bed, phone in his hand, staring at Y/N’s number. It had been days since he’d called her phone, unable to bring himself to call. She’d been gone a few days now, and he didn’t know how to accept it. How had he lost the woman he loved? How was he supposed to keep going without her by his side?

He dropped the phone on the mattress, hanging his head. The tears escaped without his consent yet again. He hadn’t been able to control his emotions lately, and it was such a foreign feeling to him. Dean had always been able to shove his feelings deep down, bury them with hunts and whiskey. But, not seeing her face when he woke up in the mornings, hearing her laugh, feel her body against his when he slept was pushing him to the edge of insane.

Once again, he picked up his phone, wanting, no, needing, to hear her voice. His hands shook as he pressed the button, the phone beginning to ring. Dean held his breath as her voice graced his ears, her voicemail greeting echoing through the silent room.

“This is Y/N. You know what to do.”

“Hey, sweetheart. I just had to hear your voice again. I know I said that I would be okay, but I lied. Letting you go has been the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. God, Y/N, I fucking miss you,” he sighed, his message getting cut off.

He dialed again, waiting to record another message.

“Me again,” he laughed wryly, “I needed to tell you how much I love you. It doesn’t seem real that you’re gone. I know you told me to go on, to keep going, but I don’t know if I can, Y/N. Living without you is fucking unbearable.”

His message was cut off again as he growled in frustration. He just wanted to get all his feelings off his chest. He felt that he would lose his mind if he didn’t. He dialed her number one more time, taking a deep breath to prepare to leave his last message.

“I’m sorry, sweetheart. I want to tell you that I love you. I’ll always love you, and I’ll never get over losing you, no matter how much time goes by. I hope one day I’ll see your face, kiss your lips, and feel you in my arms again. I miss you, Y/N.”

Dean ended the call, dropping the phone and breaking out into a sob. Life was so unfair. He had finally let himself love her after years of denying how he felt. All just to lose her. His door opening made him jump, furiously wiping the tears from his face.

“Are you ready?” Sam asked him sadly.

“I’ll never be ready, but it’s something I have to do.”

“Meet you out there?”

“Yeah, Sam. I’ll be there in a minute,” Dean sighed, every muscle in his body tense, knowing what he had to do.

He watched as Sam shut his door, his footsteps echoing through the bunker. Dean stood from his seat on the bed, his chest aching and heavy. He looked around the room, his eyes landing on the picture of him and Y/N sitting on the hood of the Impala. He squeezed his eyes shut to fight back more tears. Taking a deep breath, he walked out of his room to go build the funeral pyre for the love of his life.

The early morning light had begun to filter through the curtains, highlighting the specks of dust floating in the air. Dean had climbed out of his empty bed, her side still warm when he had groggily felt around in hopes of pulling the architect into his arms.

Soft music was playing from his record player as he made his way downstairs. He followed the smell of cooking bacon toward the kitchen, finding Y/n mixing something in a bowl. The engineer smiled to himself as he watched her quietly singing along to the Zeppelin song. Dean snuck up behind her, peaking on the tips of his toes to see she was mixing a batter before he reached over her shoulder, dipping his finger into the bowl and depositing the glob of batter onto Y/n’s nose.

“Dean?!” she turned her head towards the man, a laugh erupting from deep in her belly. He smiled back, unable to contain himself as he let her joy light him up from the inside out.

“Good morning,” he smiled down at her as she wiped the food from her nose. He leaned in and kissed her forehead, his lips lingering against her skin as he rubbed his knuckles against the swell of her abdomen. “How are my girls doing?”

“Well one of us couldn’t sleep so the other decided to make daddy breakfast,” Y/n explained with a roll of her eyes. She wasn’t getting much sleep these days as their baby doubled in size.

“That was unnecessary,” Dean offered.

“So you are saying you don’t want any of this bacon? Cause I’d be happy to keep it all to myself…” she trailed off as returned to the counter to grab the meat.

“Nuh, uh, no way you are keeping me away from the bacon,” Dean tsked as he also reached for his favorite treat. Y/n giggled as Dean beat her to the bacon, plucking a few crispy strips from the plate before she could stop him.

“Fine,” Y/n relented. “You can eat your bacon, but only because I love you.”

“I love you too,” Dean agreed before continuing. “Both of you.”

The woman grinned at her boyfriend, contentment written across their features as Dean met his lips with hers in a gentle caress. If someone had told him a year ago this is where his life would be, he certainly would have never believed them. And while he hadn’t meant to fall in love with his best friend, there was no escaping her. And he couldn’t imagine anything better than her love.

This is something that I've been thinking of doing for a long time, and the reason I've put it off for this long is because I never found something that felt right. I'm of course still very much a Dean girl and still love SPN, which is why I've still kept an essence of it with "wayward". I’m back

I know it has been wayyyy too long since I've been creating anything, but my job was sucking the life and creativity out of me. Things have worked out to where I was able to quit my job to be a stay at home mom again. So, I will be finally able to start writing again! two years!!

Dear fanfic readers...

Now that I have your attention, it’s time to clean out the tag list!

Here are the facts; I write fanfic because I enjoy it, and I post my fanfic online so others can enjoy it and so I can get feedback (I’m only human). Any fanfic writer on here can tell you it takes a significant amount of time to do so (formatting, linking, tagging, etc), and well it sucks because I’ve noticed, as all fanfic writers can attest to as well, that interaction on this website is way down. I totally get it and understand there are a lot of factors at play here so I’m not about to shame anyone. God knows I haven’t exactly been active in the reading world lately. That is why I am asking that if you would like to stay on my tag list, you at least interact with my posts in some way or another. I think if I’m taking the time then the least you could do is return the favor. If you don’t think you can do this, then I ask that you allow me to remove you from my tag list as there are other ways to find my work.

That being said, I am deciding to restructure things a touch by wiping the slate clean and rebuilding in hopes that things will be a touch less time-consuming to manage. There are new categories to choose from going forward so please read before answering:

Forevers: You will be tagged in any and all fanfic that I post

Dean Beans: You will be tagged in any oneshot or series that includes Dean Winchester

Jay Birds: You will be tagged in any oneshot or series that includes Jensen Ackles

Series: These are series-specific tags, so you will be tagged in whatever series you wish to be tagged in. These will open up when a series is announced. If you just want to be on a series from now on then let me know to drop you from my forevers.

(I don’t anticipate ever writing Sam/Jared ever again so if you want Dean and Jensen works then I suggest my forevers.)
